  • We've got the Makita XGT Hammer Drill vs the Flex 24V Hammer Drill in a 1v1 power tool head to head! The Makita GPH01 is representing Makita in this head to head and the model we tested from Flex is their flagship FX1271.
    We run through four different performance tests highlighting torque, light and heavy duty wood drilling, and concrete drilling. After that we run through how these drills compare using manufacturer specs, and finally, cover how much these drills cost and where you can buy them.

    These are both my two favorite drills I own. I like the Makita more, but if I could only have one, I’d go with the flex. I’ve already had a warranty claim due to the clutch breaking on the Makita. Feels like the flex will last me longer in the end. You can’t go wrong with either one though.

      I blew up the gearbox on my Makita XPH14 last summer.
      Didn't have my mixing drill. Used it to spin 15 bags of concrete in a bucket. It gave up on the last bag (1st gear was grinding, 2nd speed still worked)
      Took it to makita service center, they replaced the whole gearbox on warranty and called me the next afternoon to pick it up.

    We build log cabins and are driving Timber locks and 72in long auger bits all day long. The Bosch 1330 is not only more powerful than anything we've tried before, but it's works all day long without heating up. We've tried virtually everything on the market because we work in remote areas and rarely have line power, so cordless are a big bonus, but prior to the Bosch nothing was either powerful enough or would last long enough.

      Too bad that's wrong thought. The XGT crushes the Bosch. Go look at Tools & stuff test oof the 2.
      1330 got whipped.

      I’ve actually been building my own log cabin and the XGT has definitely outpaced the 1330 for me with timber locks. The flex and 1330 have been super close though I actually think the flex has been better as well with the lodge pole pines I’m using. I do love the 1330 though.

    The main reason I have an HD drill is 2"+ boring. So for me it would be Makita based on how fast that self-feed went. For regular drill bits of the 1/2" variety and such I just use an M12. Only need a bigger drill for bigger tasks like that. In which case if I need the bulk, I'll want to go fast.

      Those m12 high output 2.5ah and 5ah batteries are far superior to the regular m12 batteries. They turned my gen 2 m12 driver drill into a beast!

    Only have Flex 18v where I live so Makita is the choice, would probably pick it anyways since I like their ergonomics and have a few Makita tools. Never tried the Flex 18v so don't know what they are like.

      I also noticed that. I ended up scrolling back to 2:31 when the Flex clearly did the 2 9/16" bit in speed 2 and according to my stopwatch it did it in about 2.60 seconds. Not bad by any means

    👍 Makita
    👎🏼 Flex
    I personally have had Makita’s for years, dating back to the first 9.6 stick handle drill. Having said that, I have become a little disappointed with ‘Teal’ last couple of years, starting with their lackluster LXT 18 volt batteries, and maxing out at 6.0 Ah, and then their killing off of the GAS OPE line! 😡 However, I still feel they offer some of the smoothest and moat reliable tools. And should a problem arise, the New Jersey Factory Service Center rocks!!!!!!!! At least the LXT batteries are proven, and not oozing out their ‘pixies’ on the floor like Flex! 🙄🤣 The prices here and what I have seen on the XGT are ridiculous.
    I will say the local Flex/ Chervon Tech Rep is one of the nicest guys I have come across, unlike the local Milwaukee dude. ( I had an issue with an EGO product. )
    This is all subjective, and I am not a Brand Loyal guy, as I own tools from Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt, Metabo, and Metabo/HPT, as well as Bosch. As always, YMMV. Stay safe work smart and Peace!

      I saw it recently on sale and thought it looked cool, but their specs are a bit underwhelming and the plastic chuck did not belong on a $400 drill with 2 batteries and charger. I believe the bare tool is still over $200 so I'd rather go with the high torque drill

      @ruddy95110 4 месяца назад

      @@engineer_alv the makita tool+battery kits almost never had sence, this bare middle drill costs about 150$ which is not bad, at least for me because I like this type of drills like dewalt dcd791/800

    • @engineer_alv
      @engineer_alv 4 месяца назад

      @@ruddy95110 I would also want to see it compared with the DCD800 and maybe the Bosch GSB18V-800C which is also a new compact with some torque.
      I usually get the prices from CPO outlets and Factory Authorized Outlet and the least I've seen is 170 for the drill and 20 more for the hammer drill. Not bad for a 40V tool, that is until you see the price of the high torque XGT being about the same.

  • @BK-gc1jm
    @BK-gc1jm 23 дня назад

    Flex, twice the tool for half the price, and when you call them to put your warranty on it you got to send them a copy of your receipt. If you have any problem with the tool you call them up on the phone they'll answer they'll ask you to email them a picture of the battery that's not working or the tool that's not working and they will literally send you a new tool or battery and allow you to keep the old tool and retire it however you want to.

    😂 first you guys didn't give flex a chance by running the 5.0 instead of the 6.0 stacked lithium battery. If it were the outcome would have been the other way around. I have the xgt it's a great drill but it's no where near as powerful as the flex period. 510 in lbs how?? I never reached anything close with the xgt I was able to hit the 530 with the 10ah flex stacked lithium battery. But even with the 4.0 xgt high output batteries I got straight from Japan 🗾 I never got close to 400 in lbs. With that said the Makita xgt has an advantage it never looses turbo it's quick no matter how long you run it unlike the flex which is it's downfall but regardless flex is the more powerful dill hands down!!! The only drill to beat it in soft torque is the Milwaukee fuel 2967-20 gen 3 the gen 4 even with its claim with 1400 in lbs has not been able to make the numbers gen 3 did. This test is like running a tuned hyper car on the wrong octane fuel ⛽ like putting 89 in a car tuned for 110 😂

      Milwaukee's have small pickups on the drills and the batteries, and the batteries jiggle and don't fit tight ,the pickups wear out. And it's so expensive to fix you should just throw the drill away. Makita has triple the size pickups and connection and never wear out and the batteries don't jiggle contributing to the wearing out. I've been on Makita 15 years, and never had a battery pickup or Trigger or anything ever go wrong with my makitas. I like the power of my Milwaukee tools but it is a fact the battery connections wear out and cost a fortune to fix
