The ZF gearbox is NOT a single clutch as this numpty says. It’s actually a proper fluid torque converter system, much better than the single or dual clutch systems of some of it’s rivals.
ZF 8-speed is a torque converter automatic, not a single clutch... Next time spend a little more time studying the specs please ;) Apart from that, it's nice review
Should be a good time coming up for Drew : Let him drive an Aventador S to learn how a single clutch feels to drive (Alternatively maybe a Huayra just to be sure). Then a 812SF to try out a Dual Clutch (Getrag), so alternatively I'd send him off to Porsche as well to try "the other" really good DCT (PDK) in let's say a 911 Turbo S and a Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid to get a feel for the new 8-speed PDK :)
I'm glad someone mentioned this, I was irked when he said this as well. Although to be fair it's being nit picky, but the review is very good so we have to find fault somewhere.
Absolutely! Then again... I do understand why they don't make it. It'll overlap too much with the Stelvio and SUVs are more wanted right now. Besides, a Sportwagon will only sell in Europe. The rest of the world still needs to catch up. Estates are cool :)
it wouldn't sell in north america. in Europe yes, North America, no. the SUV will sell everywhere. maybe they'll make one though now that the SUV is finished though.
You talk about 100% torque at the back all the time and up to 50% at the front when needed yet at 1:00 we see a complete opposite with front wheels spinning wildly and rear wheels struggling to get atleast a bit of torque. Sooo whats that about??
Alfa Romeo bout to take over the game in this bitch. Everybody wanna buy Merc's, Bimmer's, and Audi's, but imma bust they head with the Giulia Quadrifoglio, and the 1st nigga that try to jock me, imma sue dat ass for false impersonation.
based on the new ALFA's philosophy I would perfectly understand that Stelvio is usually rear wheel drive untill it need to send torque to the front but what's that happening at 01:00? It looks like it stars rotating the front wheels first and after they lose tranction it send the torque to the rear...
Hmmmm. I think the Maserati Levante looks sharper and much more desirable. Anyway, these two, the F-Pace etc. are all sacrilegious monstrosities. What happened to the sexy estate we all love.
If it only sends torque to the front wheels when there is a lack of traction on the rears why do the front wheels spin first at 1:00? Doesn't make any sense to me.
My thoughts exactly, but then he also claimed its automatic transmission was a single clutch automated manual. So I'm thinking he is clueless about what he drives and wrote the review before driving the car. I suspect these launch invitationals are conditioned upon giving rave reviews rather than saying anything truthful.
The front wheels were sensed being needed from the start. That is interesting by itself. And we only saw ONE front wheel turn first. there are two more.
911 stig he was most likely in the weather mode of the traction management system so it defaulted to full awd and I also think it was cutting power to the rear wheels...
It can send up to 50% up front, in a launch the back wheels have more traction so they will spin less than the front as the weight shifts back. Also you can see the wheels speed up and slow down so I think the traction control is trying to minimise slip front and rear but struggling with the slippery snow.
Dino Pappous Actually, Alfa Romeo says there is no need for both as they have somehow managed to make the Stelvio drive as well as a Giulia estate would have.
Josh Bacon I’ve heard the opposite from track reviews. Same steering response but more suspension travel and higher center of gravity. Which makes it a bit haywire. I wouldn’t trust them in that sense. It’s a selling strategy. Let’s hope the trend goes away soon!
Levante. Although in person that one looks like an egg - an ugly one at that. I think the Alfa is prettier (I have yet to see one in real life). The new Jaguar F-Pace FTW though - that thing is gorgeous!! *brings fingertips to lips* Mwah!
Great looking car. I am sick of this geometrically pointy sharp angled, hard edged, creased and crooked lined 'bentHippo' design language. Let the Chinese have it.
Stand out from the crowd?? It's FOLLOWING every one in terms of design. Every one is slanting FWD the rear end too much. Making the "SUV" not much more useful than a sedan. What they should have done was make the backend more "vertical" a la Land Rover LR4 (Benz G Wagon) to maximize carry space. Why bother with "SUV's" built like the Stevio? Might as well buy a sedan.
ESSENTIALLY A JACKED UP HATCHBACK. CAN'T DRIVE ON THE SNOW COVERED ROAD? PADDLES SEEM TO BE IN THE WAY OF THE SIGNAL STALK AND DO YOU REALLY NEED TO HAVE THE START/STOP ON THE STEERING WHEEL?
This chap sounds like his own tongue is hindering his speech. Its weirdly cumbersome. He's so much the lesser of the two. He comes across as one who should be helping to run a drop-in centre for those with a poor start in life - maybe in a town such as Falkirk.
Ugh, this is a sad attempt at a revenue-maker on wheels. Way to dilute the brand's image right after releasing only TWO decent cars in ages. This is how you become a modern Lancia, Mr. Marchionne. A Giulia Sportwagon would've been the right car, not this fat Giulia on stilts which doesn't excel at anything.
Wagons don't sell whereas you can't shove suvs out of the factory fast enough simple business practice the allocation of resources for r and d makes far more sense you start out.making affordable suvs crossovers and sedans then develop passion products look to what ford does for example selling f series and explorers is how they fund product development for cars like the gt
Well, a manufacturer can’t just throw a car on the market, say “The car guys will buy it anyway” and hope for the best. Especially when that manufacturer is Alfa Romeo!
I was bored watching this review. The camera was on this guy far too much and I hated looking at his awful beard. The guy's accent is also weird, not sure where he comes from, some small corner of Scotland I think.
The simplicity of that interior makes it simply beautiful.
Stunning design...Alfa still makes the most gorgeous cars!
That SUV is a work of art.
I can't wait to see a Stelvio Quadrifoglio
Those are simply the most beautiful mountains on earth. What a fantastic location to shoot a car.
Even better place to live :)
@@suzyfey1999 What is this place?
Love the car, but this video honestly make me want to go to the Swiss Alps more than drive the car. Great camera work!
Giulia Sportwagon = Possible waste of money for Alfa and a potential bankruptcy
Stelvio SUV = ENDLE$$ PROFITS!!!!!! 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
And yet… Which would have been the more dignified option..? Well, once again the one, the populus didn’t want.
love this channel, it is so professional yet entertaining.
The ZF gearbox is NOT a single clutch as this numpty says. It’s actually a proper fluid torque converter system, much better than the single or dual clutch systems of some of it’s rivals.
ZF 8-speed is a torque converter automatic, not a single clutch... Next time spend a little more time studying the specs please ;)
Apart from that, it's nice review
The ZF 8-speed actually has 3 multi-disk clutches.
Should be a good time coming up for Drew :

LOL! That's cool! :) Looking forward to it.
honestly, they shoulda just made an estate version of the giulia. anyone?
Absolutely!
Then again... I do understand why they don't make it. It'll overlap too much with the Stelvio and SUVs are more wanted right now. Besides, a Sportwagon will only sell in Europe. The rest of the world still needs to catch up. Estates are cool :)

No.. this makes more sense for now. But I believe a Giulia SW is planned for the mid life update of Giulia.
HowieYisBored I mean, there is a Qudrifoglio version coming of this...
They won't be making a wagon.
I would love you guys review the Ferrari 488!
Thats awesome. I cant wait!
oh my god! this car look like a photos at the start of the video..how beautiful is that!
Is Alfa back on track? If they make an estate version of that new super saloon Qaudrafogwaaaa thing I may consider chopping in the C63!
I like to see more of this brand and what they have to offer.
will you review the Giulia Quadrifoglio any time soon? I am planning to get one.
great shots and the honesty in this review is refreshing.
Gentlemen. Great work! I love the amount of product you are putting out. You are giving Motor Trend a run for the money.
I will have it in the near future. Its so good.
Nice shots and superb color grading but in some shots the red of the car gets lost. Still outstanding work, people! Keep it up.
"single clutch" ? i thought the zf 8 speed runs on torque converter
Stunning video beautiful photography very nice presentation love the car belissimo.
They need to lower stelvio, and we have a giulia estate, perfect👌
when you will give McLaren 720 S on road and track review?
Haha yep I bet! Cannot wait, I think it's going to change the game.
I think I actually like it... which makes it the first SUV I like with my petrolhead mind!👌
killer interior
Will you guys be able to review the new macan? It is the rival for this SUV
Ok
You talk about 100% torque at the back all the time and up to 50% at the front when needed yet at 1:00 we see a complete opposite with front wheels spinning wildly and rear wheels struggling to get atleast a bit of torque. Sooo whats that about??
0:39 What is that big plastic cover on the bumper for ?? At the left side (in video)..
Adaptive cruise control radar sits behind that cover
Thank you finally..
Yathu prem 8
The background looked fake for a bit
Alfa Romeo bout to take over the game in this bitch. Everybody wanna buy Merc's, Bimmer's, and Audi's, but imma bust they head with the Giulia Quadrifoglio, and the 1st nigga that try to jock me, imma sue dat ass for false impersonation.
Will the Giulia Quadrifoglio ever going to be reviewed by you guys?
Amazing video!🎉
Single clutch? you mean Torque Converter!

i'd love to see the review New MINI Countryman please :). thank you so much
Hmmmm. I think the Maserati Levante looks sharper and much more desirable. Anyway, these two, the F-Pace etc. are all sacrilegious monstrosities. What happened to the sexy estate we all love.
NA. Estate is just better, Alfa may actually make the estate look cool
Single clutch ZF box????? Do you have any idea what you are talking about? How did you get the job of a car journalist?
What is the ground clearance?
what tires did it have for your road test
Giant Giulietta
Would love to see a car review from you guys with a "not so typical" car type (a van perhaps?)
Erlquinn Josef Gambe I can't think of any thing I would want to see less
If it only sends torque to the front wheels when there is a lack of traction on the rears why do the front wheels spin first at 1:00? Doesn't make any sense to me.

So I'm thinking he is clueless about what he drives and wrote the review before driving the car. I suspect these launch invitationals are conditioned upon giving rave reviews rather than saying anything truthful.
You don't see the actual launch. Maybe a half a sec later or so..
The front wheels were sensed being needed from the start. That is interesting by itself. And we only saw ONE front wheel turn first. there are two more.
911 stig he was most likely in the weather mode of the traction management system so it defaulted to full awd and I also think it was cutting power to the rear wheels...

Bravo Alfa
ok so it's still a suv so can it go off road?
not my favorite car but great video :)
The Bernina Pass is much better than the Stelvio anyway. Good choice!
Nice looking car
What? It's an automatic not a semi-auto is it not?
looks lika a new mazda.
IamNOTyourFather or Infiniti
"We went to test an SUV, but then it'd have to go off-road, and god knows what would happen if an SUV went off-road?"
the Alfa Romeo saloon and and this remind me of m3 and x3
This vehicle reminds me and seems like it goes against the BMW X3.
amazing view
Why not both? An Estate and the Stelvio.....what could be better than more Alfa ?
Dino Pappous Actually, Alfa Romeo says there is no need for both as they have somehow managed to make the Stelvio drive as well as a Giulia estate would have.
Josh Bacon I’ve heard the opposite from track reviews. Same steering response but more suspension travel and higher center of gravity. Which makes it a bit haywire. I wouldn’t trust them in that sense. It’s a selling strategy. Let’s hope the trend goes away soon!
Mazda CX-5 review
*EEESSHH UUUUU WEEESSS*
ZDY He's Scottish. 😂
ZDY that guy sounds like he's chewing on a **** when he talks. Holy crap, that's an annoying accent.
looks like the Maserati SUV, forgot its name
Levante. Although in person that one looks like an egg - an ugly one at that. I think the Alfa is prettier (I have yet to see one in real life). The new Jaguar F-Pace FTW though - that thing is gorgeous!! *brings fingertips to lips* Mwah!
Top Gear is dead. Grand Tour sucks. Long live Carfection!
Top Gear is dead? I would say no to that.
Farhan Ahmad Tajuddin it is
As a remorseless hater of modern cars, the words Alfa Romeo and Sport Utility Vehicle makes me want to drown kittens.
STELVIO..................SuperCAR
isnt this a quadrifoglio big fat brother ?
Mecha Martini the quadrifolio will be much better than this.
Great looking car. I am sick of this geometrically pointy sharp angled, hard edged, creased and crooked lined 'bentHippo' design language. Let the Chinese have it.
To be honest, i think it looks terrible. It looks like a fat, hatchback Giulia. Also the zf gearbox has a torque converter, not a clutch
see it in person, is mooore beautiful of what it looks like in photo
"italian SUV"...the very concept sounds like the punchline to a Leno joke
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz road test
Stand out from the crowd?? It's FOLLOWING every one in terms of design. Every one is slanting FWD the rear end too much. Making the "SUV" not much more useful than a sedan. Anderson C off road capabilities.
Rudy Ogunde It doesn’t have any.
So Chrysler owns them now?
No fiat owns them but they also happen to own chrysler
Fiat owns chrysler obviously
Very sexy car!
You could use a bit of education. This ZF box uses far more than one clutch.
ESSENTIALLY A JACKED UP HATCHBACK. CAN'T DRIVE ON THE SNOW COVERED ROAD?
PADDLES SEEM TO BE IN THE WAY OF THE SIGNAL STALK AND DO YOU REALLY NEED TO HAVE THE START/STOP ON THE STEERING WHEEL?
Stevio. Slippery downhill spiral or an uphill slog? A bit like Alfa ownership.
This chap sounds like his own tongue is hindering his speech. Its weirdly cumbersome. He's so much the lesser of the two. He comes across as one who should be helping to run a drop-in centre for those with a poor start in life - maybe in a town such as Falkirk.
Give a guy a break, he did fine. He is Scotish and grew up in Nederlands so of course he is gonna have a different accent.
NOT! Ugly and over priced!
Ugh, this is a sad attempt at a revenue-maker on wheels. Way to dilute the brand's image right after releasing only TWO decent cars in ages. This is how you become a modern Lancia, Mr. Marchionne. I assume that you've never been to Europe. Plenty of wagons there, way more than SUVs.
This is a crossover, by the way, not an SUV.
Well, a manufacturer can’t just throw a car on the market, say “The car guys will buy it anyway” and hope for the best. Especially when that manufacturer is Alfa Romeo!
am I of the minority that thinks this is an ugly car?
Damn this reviewer is boring ! Where's Alex?!
nissan juke anyone ?
No thanks
I was bored watching this review. The camera was on this guy far too much and I hated looking at his awful beard. The guy's accent is also weird, not sure where he comes from, some small corner of Scotland I think.
No...the tech of alfa is so bad. Feels like last decade. It is justifiable in 4c or even giulia. Not in suv. I would rather buy Q5 or XC60
Looks like a Mazda, not really into it.
