I got a pack of the 0.38mm pens in black, and it blew my mind at how small I could write and it was still readable! Like, health and safety warnings on packaging labels-level small.
I can see why they say it's a medium point: the width of the trace left by it matches a 1mm ballpoint with oil-based ink very closely. In saturation, the blue is looking very blue on camera, though the ink dispensing is a _little_ bit inconsistent. Black is more uniform on that. Could be because the blue is not quite "broken in", but who knows. Good pens for two quarters and a dime each. I'd take them if I were to write frequently on thicker paper.
Hi DFT - these aren't pens I would usually pick up, but since they were so reduced I thought I'd try them. They do have a fairly wide line for a 0.7mm and I agree it's likely the ink formulation that allows for that. Thanks!
I have several of these pens, which I use only for check-writing: I was pulled in by the promise to save me from the nefarious check-bleaching fraudsters. In my experience, these tend to skip, and are less forgiving when it comes to writing angle. I find the Bic Cristal writing experience to be far, far superior. Thanks, Kevin!
Check the date code on the refills: YY-MM (year-month). If they are more than 3 years old, they may not write well. In India, we get these only in 0.5 and 0.38 mm (and definitely not in stores). However I haven't faced skipping yet. Uni-ball Signo pens skip very less. The Signo gel pens are available in 0.7 mm.
Thanks, MAMO! I didn't know these pens were good for check writing, something I seem to do less and less in these days of electronic payments. I'm with you - give me a Bic Cristal any day!
Thanks for the review. I have used them in 0.5 mm and 0.38 mm. The black pen comes in a fully black barrel too. The 0.38 mm is scratchy if you don't write at the correct angle and if you write fast. The 0.5 mm is more smooth. I guess the 0.7mm may be the smoothest but will run out of ink quickly.
That's why I recommended you try the Pen + Gear 2-pack gel pens because they're only 88 cents a pack! 😄 Uniball are more expensive because they're a Japanese brand. My favorite classic pen is a Uniball. It's a shame you don't use pens more because Uniball is an amazing brand - the Japanese are top notch at everything they make and their pens are no exception.
Thanks, ilurvemv - I just don't use pens often. I'm sure the Uniball is a great brand - than Uni pencils are some of the best made in the world. Thanks!
Hello, big fan of your videos despite being more of a pen user myself and you being a pencil person. I would love to know what some of your favorite pens are in general, thanks
Hi Modernly! I appreciate you watching! Seems like most people either lean towards pens or pencils. I do use pens, as well, but don't have the same feeling for them as pencils. To the extent I use pens, I am a big fan of the Bic Cristal in almost all of its variations, but especially the Cristal Soft which has a 1.2mm ballpoint. Thanks!

Hi Craig - wow, that is pretty small writing! Shows you that a precision tip can really make a difference. Thanks!

I just checked Amazon India, and the One pens are also available in 0.7.

Hi UXD - the 0.7mm was very smooth, but my experience with most pens like this is that they run dry quickly. Thanks!
