This reminds me of being stuck in a narcissistic relationship for 10 years.... Where All the Love I gave meant nothing & All her bad deeds were getting mirrored onto me.
What's that song, "Beautiful girls make you suicidal" ?
Anyway, so glad that I made it out of that situation. The song used to make me cry every time I heard it; even though I Always liked it.

From what I've read Yorke was born with a defective left eye that he couldn't even open until numerous surgeries while a child. He was bullied growing up and I'm sure that is a factor contributing to his lifelong struggle with depression and pessimistic outlook on life. Incredible art often comes through suffering though and he is an amazing singer and Radiohead are super-talented musicians. I love that all original members are still in the band and they still get along well with each other.

I used to think of this girl when I heard this song. I thought she was amazing, and perfect. We were friends, but I wanted more. She wanted someone else. Looking back, I was wrong. She was a drunk, had a lot of problems, far from the perfect girl I thought she was. Now that I met my wife, I see how wrong this girl would’ve been, we never could’ve had the wonderful relationship I have now. Years later we were catching up, and I confessed to her I thought about her when I heard this song. She said she thought about someone else when hearing this song. She thought she was the creep and the weirdo, and couldn’t imagine that someone else would think she was perfect. The moral of the story is they are probably not perfect. You will find someone. And if you feel like the creep, someone out there might think you are perfect. Keep looking for that person. They will show up, and shine when they see you.

Think the difference is Alice in Chains' Dirt era is heavy and catchy and easy to groove to, so you can kind of ignore the lyrics and just jam out. Radiohead songs are much more obvious in their depressiveness in terms of their music.

This song has always been my anthem for adolescence. It captures the inner feelings I had as a kid. I felt like I was destined to be alone. I felt like the weird creep that girls would never be interested in. Luckily, those feelings were just that: feelings. The truth was simply I hadn’t come into my own yet, developing my full personality AND most importantly, my world bubble was still SO small. I think a lot of people know exactly the feelings I’m speaking of and this song brought all of those feelings out into the spotlight and showed us that we aren’t alone and that in itself made us begin to feel more accepted and maybe just the beginning of a glimmer of hope. The song appeals to us because we can relate to it when we were teenagers falling in love and you're all awkward and don't know how to approach the girl you've fallen for.

Love you guys doing more Radiohead, always great videos. And especially glad to see Ryan being a little more open to the qualities of the song even if it is really not his thing.
I think you should really try some different kind of Radiohead songs though if you want to continue down this road. It's not all slow songs that try to invoke depressive qualities. They are undoubtedly one of the most creative bands in the world.
Some great Radiohead songs that hit very differently than stuff like Creep and Karma Police:
    Just
    2+2=5
    15 step
    Jigsaw Falling Into Place
    Lotus Flower

I love this song so much that I had to buy the single, back in the day. It's the only Radiohead cd that I own, since I don't know if they have any more Metal sounding songs in the catalogue, which is why I like the song so much.

@@Bandanko Because the covers personally have better climax points. The drums dont kick in right off the bat like they do on the original. It builds and is less “rock anthem”

I really appreciate George's take on this song's theme, how it gets at the vulnerability and sensitivity that everyone feels, essentially. There's a sort of comfort-through-misery feel that I've always gotten from this one that I love. Thanks to the both of you for making this video having already heard the song before; it's refreshing to hear your opinions on it.
If I may make a request, I would really like to see what you two think about the band Rishloo. In particular, either "Freaks and Animals" or "Just a Ride" would be great. They're in a similar vein to Tool, just heavier in the progressive sense at times. At the very least, your coverage of the band would give them more exposure which I feel would be incredible.
Anyway, thanks for the great content as always, keep it up.
