Before they listen to anything they need to review Brianstorm. That song is just nuts, and I think it'll get them hyped to check out the rest of their insanely brilliant catalogue.
@@stevenbenson2428 I see why it’s a lot of peoples favorites but for some reason humbug and tranquillity base hotel and casino are so fun to keep listening to
The best description of arctic monkeys that I’ve ever heard is “smooth vocals and sleazy guitar riffs.” Seriously, it’s strip club music, and I love it. They make rock sexy.
That's what they've become at the time. In the beginning when they were at their best they weren't like that. Last album and the next one were written on a piano, so you'll struggle to find a guitar riff at all, sleazy or not. They've got progressively worse with each album they made.
Would love to watch you react to "why'd you only call me when you're high" from the same album. Or maybe "I bet that you look good on the dance floor" from their early days, a complete different groove.
As George said, the setting is not right. This not the song you play at the club, but it is the song you'd play on the late night drive back from the club. They are a band that is stronger lyrically. Fluorescent Adolescent is a favorite. The Artic Monkeys remind me a lot of The Clash. Glad you gave it a spin and thank you for the shout-out!
Wasnt expecting this! Great reaction. You would love R U Mine, from the same album. Also, their first album is a 21st century classic in Indie, and Rock music in general.
His vocal phrasing is insane. Even though the band is playing a 4 bar, he’ll sing his lines at 5-6 bars, then pause or shorten then come back right back on the one.
Finally yall stepped into the land of Arctic Monkeys. One of the most lyrical bans out there. Do anything from the first albums and you'll make a lot of people happy.
I always interpreted this about the singer still being in love with an ex. "Do I wanna know, do you want me crawling back to you?". A scary question for a desperate soul still attached to an old love.
I finally see someone taking the 'still in love with an ex' angle of the song! I discovered this near the end of a relationship, and it was weird to feel that way WHILE the relationship wasnt even over yet!
Would love to see a reaction to Arctic Monkeys' earlier stuff, from their first two albums. E.g., "The View From the Afternoon", "Dancing Shoes", "Brianstorm", and "505".
Tik toktok got ahold of the riff in the beginning and used it as a background track for parody truck commercials sometime last year. It’s also been out for a hot minute cause this was my whole personality in 2013-2014 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lads you're not wrong 🤣 this is definitely a sexy, sexy song haha I was at a party talking to a guy I had a HUGE crush on, and I was so nervous even at 23, then this came on and I was suddenly so confident and... well. Landed that one. 🤣
Incredibly excited to hear you react to one of my favourite bands. Arctic Monkeys have definitely changed their sound over the years. If you ever go back, please try an old song like When The Sun Goes Down, and then also try a new song from their latest album, such as Batphone or maybe Four Out Of Five.
53 here , I’ve seen every genre of music live that you can imagine. I absolutely love this band! Followed them since 2007, finally saw them live in Detroit 2018, amazing live.
This album is really good. There’s a half dozen songs on it that simply just slap. Pretty amazing that a concept album about a concept as simple is what can happen in the later hours of the evening could be this good.
Love being a part of your patreon. In the middle of a stressful work day...I got to watch this at lunch. You guys always put smile on my face. I'm excited about the new platform and can't wait to see what you guys come up with!
Please listen to something off their first two albums! "When The Sun Goes Down", "505", "Fluorescent Adolescent" & "I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor" are some of my favorites.
I love how much you focus on the lyrics, Alex is one of the most talented lyrics writers out there, full of humour (he already got you laughing from the first song 😁) and life experiences everyone can relate too.
Absolute tune! I bloody love Arctic Monkeys, seen them a couple of times live and they come from just down the road from me in Sheffield. Great song choice too!
You need to do "I bet you look good on the dance floor"!!! Alex Turner is a wordsmith of the highest order. I can also recommend Bloc Party - A song for Clay.
Their older stuff has a bit more bite to it, I Bet You Look Good on The Dancefloor or Fake Tales of San Francisco from their first album are both really good
Their new stuff is so slick, some of the old stuff is a bit more raw and more in line with other rock stuff you've reacted to. This is my favourite album though. So smooth. Every song is a banger.
A great song by the Arctic Monkeys. As others stated, check out some of their early work as well. The lead singer, Alex Turner, struck up a friendship with Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age and sang backup vocals on the QOTSA "Like Clockwork" album. Josh returned the favor and sang backup on this song. This song is very much in the swag vibe of QOTSA. You NEED to hear some QOTSA songs from that album (I Appear Missing, If I Had a Tail, My God Is the Sun, etc.)
Check out "A Certain Romance", "The View From The Afternoon", "When The Sun Goes Down" or "From The Ritz To The Rubble" - all from their first record. In the early days of the band Alex Turner was open about how grime and particularly artists like (early) Dizzee Rascal were a big influence to them, and they combined that with huge choruses and catchy hooks to create an interesting and unique sounds. Later albums never quite hit that magic spot in my opinion.
Love that y’all reacted to this. For me personally this song is a masterpiece. And the AM album has nothing but bangers. I’d love to see u guys check out more songs on the album!
Their live shows are naaaaasty. Can’t believe I’ve been listening for nearly 20 years 👵🏼 Their early stuff goes extra hard. Edit: George seems meh on the vibe, but Ryan you really should check out their first two albums.

An album of theirs where I like basically every single song is Whatever People Say I Am That's What Im Not. I'd personally give a song off of that one a listen. Fake Tales of San Francisco, When the Sun Goes Down, or From the Ritz to the Rubble are some of my favorites.
They’ve changed a lot over the years, but it’s all consistently good to me. Alex Turner is one of the best lyricists around. He has a way with a metaphor, or obscure reference, that is second to none.

Definitely a song you play to relax and unwind. Every women I've ever met loves this song.
Great review as always. I love how you guys do different genres. I feel the brilliance and charm of arctic monkies is amplified by there references to English and especially northern English culture. All the way down to Alex accent. That isn't to say they don't transcend genres and countries .. I just feel it you have that point of reference it adds another layer to their brilliance x

cool. I just left a comment on another video recommending Arctic Monkeys, so cool to see you guys checked this one out. They have alot of other really great stuff. R U Mine, Temptation, Crying Lightning, Snap out of it, 505...
Definitely give their earlier stuff a go! That's generally what most people would say is their best. I'd recommend 505 or When the Sun Goes Down
when the sun goes down would make for a better reaction imo. that main riff is so catchy
Guarantee it wouldn't be their thing
Before they listen to anything they need to review Brianstorm. That song is just nuts, and I think it'll get them hyped to check out the rest of their insanely brilliant catalogue.
When the sun goes down, yes!!
