Just a little correction we actually do have Wallabies both in North and South Island unfortunately.
They are considered pests and work is being done to eradicate, like possums.
We also still have some wild horses, deer, wild pigs. Alpine Tar, wild goats everything you need.
Plus Beautiful coastlines with excellent fishing, diving etc.
We certainly do I've nearly hit wallabies at night in Rotorua on many an occassion.
Ayyy fukn who's cuzzie stole these that's a long paddle 2 bring us back 😂🤣but that's awesome I seen reindeer just outta Auckland farmed but buzzy only saw them on my Xmas cards b4 that
I saw one in the bush and was so confused 😂😂
but they are not commonly seen or indigenous. I have never seen a wild wallaby here. Possums however are a huge problem thanks for whoever thought to bring them here!
There’s plenty down south in Waimati (wallabies). Have seen them on many occasions and just recently I read an article where DOC (dept. of conservation) were saying that they are now on the West Coast near Hokitika. Some brain dead wonders had decided it was a good idea to spread these pests.
Hi guys I'm a kiwi about the littering we don't leave our rubbish on the tables in fast food restaurants either ❤
As a new zealand pakeha im greatful how proudly the maori protect our land, rivers and beaches ❤
our land?
@roemrongo yes ALL Nzers land I'm not into race baiting cheers
One time i was driving with my friends, one of my friends thought i was joking when i told him not to throw his trash out the window, he threw it out, i pulled the car over and made him walk back to pick it up, the rest of the boys sitting there laughing at him, he never did it again.
That's awesome 🤣
Tumeke...awesome
To fully experience New Zealand, you need to drive a car, especially in the South Island, where many beautiful places are spread far apart. Sometimes, it takes two to three hours, depending on where you are staying, to get the most out of the experience. I suggest hiring a campervan, as there are many campervan parks that offer cheap electricity, water, and even have public kitchens and bathrooms.
Love your reaction videos. Cool to see my country on today! Hi from a quiet kiwi🇳🇿. Also, yes about the beer. Being offered to go have a beer is a common hangout offer but noone cares if you drink an actual beer or choose something else.
Hi family! We would love to explore more of New Zealand culture. Where should we begin?
😘🐑🥰🥰👍 there's a clue somewhere amongst happy face thumb and Baaarbaaaara
@@TheDemouchetsREACT Queenstown would be a great start one of if not the most beautiful city in NZ
Hahaha it's true..im from NZ and Yeah I was at some traffic lights and someone threw some rubbish out their car window, so before the light could turn green, I jumped out picked up their rubbish and threw it back into their car haha may have yelled at them not to do that lol
It depends. In NZ, it is unacceptable for rubbish if you intentionally do it.
No one bats an eye on a windy day with rubbish if it gets blown away and you try at least to pick it up.
Lol I did the same thing as when I was coming out of my driveway this car full of people drove past and someone in their back seat threw some rubbish out the window, I got out picked it up & followed them to the next intersection got out and biffed it back in the same open window saying "we don't want our rubbish here thanks", they drove off stunned lol.
Same!!!
Oh I run 😂 until I get the rubbish which is hard in Wellington
Been there done that in Petone 😂😂@@uncleiroh5672
I remember littering as a kid and a old buck was like "pick that shit up ow"😂
That was a pretty good and useful vid overall. There's a couple of things she exaggerates slightly...the public transport isn't great but it's not terrible...not so bad compared to the US for instance. There are still trains in Auckland and Wellington, and trams in Chch, just not subways, plus there's a few overland tourist trains ie the northern and southern explorers and tranzalpine routes. Also the intercity buses go almost everywhere, that's always possible. It's just some specific really remote sites for which you might need to get like a special tourist tour if you don't have a hire car/campervan etc...like say Castle Hill, or Omaramara rocks in the South Island (and of course it means you're slightly more restricted in terms of your route). But yes, obviously it's better if you can do NZ on a road trip.
Also the road rage thing she mentions -.she's definitely exaggerating that.
Being offered a beer is like our small talk. Perfectly acceptable to turn down the beer but what we're really saying is sit down for a bit and talk. Have a water or lemonade or whatever but sit and have a chat.
Another thing to avoid - don't ask what the weather will be like more than 5 days out.
New Zealand sits at the bottom of the South Pacific, is a long thin series of very mountainous islands with both tropical and polar areas having influence on our climate. More tropical in summer and vice versa in winter, but not always.
It can snow in the middle of summer and be a relatively warm day in winter.
Its very unusual to have long periods where the weather stays the same for more than a few days, and when those changes happen are very hard to predict more than 5 days out and thats not even considering alpine regions where you get very sudden change. Plus conditions often change in just 50km down the road.
Generally the country is more windy - sometimes so strong you can't stand up outside, than most countries and bring (or buy while here) a good rainjacket, as anytime outdoors over a week or more will have you being having rain to cope with.
You mean don't ask what the weather will be this afternoon!
New Zealand does have Wallabies. We also have a day here in New Zealand called "Crate Day" where you buy a crate of beer with your friends and spend the day drinking it with a BBQ..its usually called a "Piss Up"
The three things I tell newcomers about NZ- sorry about our public bathrooms as they can be absolutely horrid (on a road trip make sure you take your own toilet paper and hand wash as can't always guarantee it will be there), wear sunscreen (you will get sunburnt quickly in summer) and take care on the roads
As a Kiwi living in Aussie, and I have done so for nearly 50 years.... It's great to see a very ;aid back and sensible approach to NZ... I have been everywhere in NZ except Dunedin and Invercargil... I come from Te Kuiti next to the Waitomo caves... and bever ever visited them as a kid nor when I lived there!!! Our parents never took us there... weird! I have been since and taken my Aussie born kids there and I intend to go back this year and do the 7 hour tour into the Hidden Valley and Tomo... Long story with that one too.. I've seen half of Australia and driven the Canning Stcok Route and also driven from Sydney to Perth with our kids... Sydney to Brizzie at least 12 times... I live up here now, out in the bush... I hate Sydney. It's not the place I grew up in... got a question ask. Please ask. I have a terminal disease and am just enjoying life as it passes before me..
The grim reaper showed his face several times in my childhood, and couple of times in my teenage years, so becoming complacent as a adult was never a option.
While I may not have a terminal condition, the Devil got a hard on for me.
I can relate to your plight in that I don’t take a breath for granted.
I have principles that I will face a firing squad to keep.
I will give up the ghost for any one of my children in a heartbeat.
I respect your ability to face reality, because I flip the grim reaper the birdie all the time.
I think it’s a joke how they turn public law enforcement officers into heroes for doing their job, as if their isn’t many more occupations that are for more dangerous.
Keep milking everyday for all that it’s worth. I’m sure you’ll have seen and done 10x more in the allotted time that you have than the average person who’s trapped in this rat race/Matrix!
Long live the King?!
Ecclesiastes 9:10-12
Sit down restaurants were there's serving staff have an extra surcharge if it's a public holiday or they might not be open at all. Places don't stay open all night or open early in the morning either. So be aware of that when in NZ.
I love this! ❤️Thank you to the fellow New Zealander for sharing about our native culture and its people!🖐😁👍 Just love this! ❤️
We as maori believe we belong to the land, its not a possession, before colognisation we had our own gods(of the sea,the forrests, god of war etc)we developed a respect4 the land&it provided,we are spiritual people
Aana KORERO!
Yip
Not all tho
Lol i dont care who you are, no one owns the land, we are all merely caretakers... you dont take it with you when you die
Hello, I’ve been thinking about planning a trip to experience and feed myself of more knowledge of the Māori culture. I’m learning to do Polynesian culture and would want to know more as I progress. I’m fascinated with the culture as a chamorro from Guam,
I was wondering before making plans and just flying over there by myself, should I get in contact with someone first to show me around and teach me the culture? If anybody can help that would be greatly appreciated
Beer is definitely a big thing in nz as is wine to. Big drinking culture here for sure
A good intro. One minor point, we do have wallabies. Not native to the country of course but another unwelcome import from Aus. Like the possum. Found around Rotorua and small colonies elswhere.
Large colony of wallabies in South Canterbury from over 100 years ago
And the buggers are spreading
I love my country and my country loves me. I stayed in Hawaii and I could not get over the driving on opposite side of road.... nz roads are made for cruising around the bays, picnic spots galore. Friendly happy people all year round ❤
I'm British and have driven in a number of European countries and on several trips to the US, the adjustment to driving on the other side of the road is pretty easy if you are alert. NZ is a long distance from anywhere else is I definitely agree that a rest is required before starting driving, better to pick your vehicle up the next day.
Kiwis (New Zealanders) are very big on beer, and yes I am a Kiwi born and raised
Im Maori from Aotearoa, my tribe is called Tuwharetoa from Taupo, love your guys reaction videos. Hope you get to visit one day and try some hangi. The leftovers the next morning is bomb🔥🔥
Much love! It is definitely on our vision board.
Tuwharetoa girls, Maori girls in general a disgustingly beautiful. I'm salivating just thinking about it. lol
@@nameless1873 Lmao for real tho lol
You actually have LEFTOVERS? ;-)
Rosie is awesome 👏🏼 worked with her here in NZ and she is incredible.
Lol probs a lot of mentions here from Kiwi's. There were some ppl from the UK that did that and got called out. They then became aggressive to those who called them out. It made the news they also trashed a few places during their trip and some were charged they were kicked out of the country
Sitting on benches /counters is a no no 😊as well as tables ..If you put food on it dont put your arse on it
You can reject anything here (beer, food, a ride etc...) as long as it's done politely with gratefulness it is absolutely fine.
There was actually a guy from the UK who came to NZ and littered on a beach. The family got chased out of the country and the guy died a few months later under suspicious circumstances. (Joe Doran and family)
Mountains also have the same rights as people😊 😊Heavy on the "Take Only pictures📸, Leave Only Footprints👣"
You’ll want to drive, it give you access to the secret gems along the way
Yup all the time. After you call them out you basically tell them we only have 1 earth we should look after her and she will look after us
If you don't want t to drive then see if you can get a local to take you around. The reaction and questions you have will be answered and you most likely will be invited to meet the whanau a.k.a family
Will do!
I’m kiwi, her video was pretty spot on! We’ll done to her 🙂
We celebrate create day here in New Zealand yes we do drink beer.
Are we big on beer? We have a pretty heavy binge drinking culture here. I always thought the Aussies, English, Scots and Irish were worse than us, but it turns out that we're right up there. Whenever I've told people which region I'm from, I've ALWAYS had the immediate response "you must know how to drink then"
And furthermore if you come across any Australian & they tell you we are cousins....it's a big...He'll No...
NEW ZEALAND & Australia we are not cousins or not Any related to each other by blood or in person.
Yess.. dont turn off the road onto a paddock or bush .. you probs get lost for hours or days lol
Tena Korua,
I enjoyed hearing the video. And it is great seeing you ❤️ both, and hearing what you think when you hear about our little country down here that we love so much.
My thoughts about visitors to New Zealand? We like to welcome people, but Maori are experts at caring, and making people feel welcome and attended to.
Don't expect a free ride around the place, though.
I have seen women from Europe try that.
Be careful how you treat the land, water and native wildlife here. Obey the signs to protect our lakes, Kauri etc.
Make sure you use your own, or a public toilet. If you shit on our ground or streets, you are likely to be photographed and in the news.
Humility is the way to go down here. We don't take well to anyone with an attitude of superiority or entitlement.
I agree about driving. If you have cars following you and you are below the speed limit, it's probably time you pulled over to let them pass.
I find I see more on public transport, although roadies are great if you drive too! Sit on the side of the bus that will have the nicest view- like mountains, lakes or rivers, and hopefully a sunrise or sunset.
Yes, most of us are extremely appreciative and proud of tangata whenua, the culture and the language.
Thankyou.
Thank you for sharing your tips with us. We appreciate you!
We do have Wallabies. They're considered a pest. We do have spiders one is related to a Black Widow but is found on coastal beaches and is elusive. Whitetail spiders can make you ill if bitten by one and Huntsman spiders that aren't poisnous but are large scary creatures aka Avondale spiders have been introduced from Australia.
We do have wallabies, not native to the country but an introduced species from Australia. Certainly a good population around parts of Rotorua as well as a few other places
I am from New Zealand and we do have wallabies I used to shoot them in the central north Island..they are small in number but they were introduced for sport.
I live next to that river 👍👍👍it’s a great neighbour never noisey very sooothing
I have traveled NZ alot never ever have i driven hours and hours with out seeing another car in NZ ? ? Maybe a hour at 3am back country roads... but it would be note worthy.
Yeah the first time I drove overseas was in la. I'm a kiwi. It took about half an HR to get used to driving on the opposite side of the road
When someone throws rubbish on the ground it pisses me off. I'm like HEY PICK YOUR F***** RUBBISH UP MF!! LOL
New Zealand drinking culture is up there bro you right
When I was a kid we travelled to NZ/Aotearoa. One of my most vivid memories of all my travels is flying in a small plane from South Isaln to North Isaln, looking out the wndow, and in one single frame seeing: South acific beach, tropical forest, snowy mountains and a pine forest!
Quiet yeah nah just been busy guys getting sorted for winter great vid guys
We have a bigger beer culture than Australia, especially craft beers. We had an Australian brewer live with us for a while.
He came to NZ to perfect his skills in crafting beers. I think the only other place in the world that has a better beer culture is California.
Thank you for sharing this, I loved your guy's reactions. The video 💯 got everything right ✅️ I felt your wairua ( spirit) when you watched and listened to what was being said. You were both respectful and I know you both got our people's message ❤️ The views of our land are stunning and we are blessed to live in this country. Maori people are the kaitiaki (guardians) of the ocean ( moana)rivers (awa) and forests ( ngahere) so we are staunch when it comes to protecting it. Maori can sustain ourselves from the land, sea ,rivers and the forest as we have for generations, hence why we have to ensure our country stays clean and green 💚
Much love!
Auckland is building an underground rail transport now - Under the city centre
...and you can easily transfer on a bus to a train station right near the airport! easy as ...big improvements
I’m ok driving in other countries, I’m from NZ and visited the US a couple of years ago and drove from LA to San Fran and then to Vegas and back to LA and found it super easy
awesome reaction cuzzies. she i right, to see the best nz has to offer. get out of the cities and go roaming. never set a time table because you will always be stopping to look at stunning scenery on your journeys
Kia ora korua (hello to you both), the exchange rate is quite beneficial if you are American, it’s approximately 1.00 US = $2.00 NZ.
We are pretty layed back and open in general friendly people .if you need help in anyway just ask most of us will help . Don't miss out on the south island as that's the most beautiful part in my opinion
Yes, NZ doesn't tolerate littering, but wow, try Singapore. I remember going there to meet a friend at the airport decades ago. I had been hanging for a cigarette after the long flight and went to flick the butt on the sidewalk when my friend cried out "NO!" like I'd just committed the worst crime imaginable. I guess the smaller the country, the less tolerance for litter.
We just got given back our Mountain in Taranaki, it also has the same rights as a person..
@reboot9247 and I'm Glad he did I love looking at him every morning
Kia ora, Maaori here... just to further drive home how close we are to the land, when we give our pepeha, our whakapapa (genealogy/family ties) maunga (mountain) and awa/moana (river/ocean) are part of that. They are just as important as naming ourselves, our parents, and our tribal affiliations.
On the beer it was getting from uk to nz in 1830 to 1340 and it was called grog [I'm from NZ and it was nice to see you guys reacting to this]
wasn't beer mate.liquor,rum etc.
Love your videos popping up on my homepage about my country 🥳 I went to hawaii in November and because you guys drive on the other side, it was scary to me haha. I didn’t end up hiring a car. I wouldn’t attempt it 😅
hey im from new zealand and been to america but being a truck driver myself the side of road switch aint to confusing
I visited the US recently and drove, sure I did have to remind myself occasionally about what side but I enjoyed it.
🥴🥴
In addition to driving thing, I hate to say it but some of roads are quite dangerous and rough, especially when you factor in windyness, narrowness, slips and some parts are not perfectly sealed.
This is very accurate!
Driving on the other side of the road isn't difficult. I'm from NZ and drove around in usa for a few weeks and had no issues
Wallaby in NZ. Dama dama Wallaby are considered a noxis pest in South Canterbury/North Otaga and were one of the target species of " Pest Destruction Boards. NZ exported Wallaby back to Australia in the 1980s when some species became critically endangered there. Population of Wallaby in NZ may be as high as 500,000.
The Wallaby are a pest all over the country.
lmao at haggling being unnecessary talk - so true.
Hi from the north island the river city Wanganui, New Zealand like your channel guys it's choice xx
Don't be fooled, lock your vehicle, beware what colour of the clothing you wear there's heaps of gang's here, Māori came to what is known as New Zealand on waka traveling from the Polynesia. 2 Māori tribes invaded the Chatham islands slaughtering many peaceful Moriori people including children because they wanted the Moriori's land and took it forcefully. Do your research on it its well known.
There is a good public transport system in Auckland, she's right about no trains to the airport though. There are regular buses going everywhere, so she obviously hasn't been keeping up with the facts.
Wellington has really good public transport too. no trains around central wellington but there are tons of buses
A lot of Maori went to support the natives of little rock .
Also, just be humble. Kiwis don't like posers and try-hards.
a big thing for outdoors lovers: please pay attention to fishing regulations. there are size limits and catch limits, and freshwater fishing requires licensing.
Many under estimate the size of NZ. Especially for visitors, the narrow , windy roads mean it will take a bit longer in travel time.
North island is more about the seaside, volcanoes, thermal, the Maori culture. South Island beauty is in the lakes, fjords, mountains, glaciers.
NZ Great Walks in national parks on both islands are out of this world.
We have had many overseas visitors commenting that NZ have landscapes from all over the world, which I reckon is amazing.
Unfortunately, the really great sights in Northland and the East Coast & some parts of Auckland infrastructure, roads etc have been devastated by Cyclone Gabrielle. Repairs over here tend to take a while, so something to consider when visiting the North Island.
Māori believe we do not own the land but we are the protectors of the land tangata whenua
Its great driving in New Zealand! Mind you I was born there! lol!
New Sub 😉.True I'm from NZ💯👍
Just been a bit quite as days getting shorter and just chilling out
Food is sacred as it nourishes your body. You never put your bum or feet on places where you prepare or eat food. Also never sit or place your feet on a pillow or cushion that is meant for your head. Your head is sacred. Don't feel insulted if some Maori or Pacific People's do not make eye contact with you. They may avert their eyes as it can be seen as a challenge.
here in nz if we offer you a beer take it , if you dont its kinda like a insult like what our beer aint good enough for u lol Tske it , drink it , enjoy it lol
I think the two of you could put a shout out to kiwis if you come over you'll get accommodation and tour guides for free
We actually do have wallerbies😊
Yes in new zealand we do have wallabies,
I'm New Zealand born Polynesian love it here in Aotearoa the land of the long white clouds.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
your driving position remains the same as what your use too... remember that the cars are all right hand drive and you drive on the left......driving position people think about it
I remember having the sickest and probably longest holiday back home in nz. My parents took me and my sibling out for 2 months to go and do sh in New Zealand amazing time.
New Zealand does have wallibes (kangaroo) but only hunters see them with night vision weapons
Kiaora, I agree 💯
If you end up coming to NZ you guys should do some RUclips stuff while you're over here. Would be cool to follow you on your holiday.
One good thing if you're coming from The US is the exchange rate. US dollars go a long way in NZ. I think the greenback is buying $1.58 at the moment.
As long as the center line is next to the driver your All good
they even swap the steering wheel to make it easy :P
Thanks from kiwi land come visit one day .
We offer you a beer. But if you say no we respect your choice cause we actually want you to say know 😂😂 but for us its the respect to offer you something. Even a cuppa coffee or Tea
Hahahaha the road rage had me.
Best way to see NZ is driving. You'll miss the best only not driving. Road trips here are a holiday thing to do
hi i,m from new zealand which drives on the left but now i,m living in the Philippines which is right hand drive and can not under stand why people get that wrong and to let know i lived in NZ till i was 67 then moved to Philipines have no problem drivin g on the right hand side
Good reaction to a good video.
I was wondering, can you guys react to the video called "10 reasons not to visit New Zealand" from the youtuber garandhero
Sure.😊
@@TheDemouchetsREACT thanks
That's smart not driving if U come NZ. U will enjoy more of NZ koz it's a big beautiful view. But we play alot of American games so it's not too different for us to have a go of driving overseas Its interesting but i haven't seen anyone get upset over spit. Its expensive buying most things and both NZ and Australia love a cold beer alot of drinking and singing here in NZ. Good vibes only and I'll be fine.
For the public transport comment, remember Rosie is based in Europe, specifically France, which has just amazing Public transport options, which compared to NZ is just magnitudes better.
NZ has one of the lowest population density of any country in the world, so outside the major cities the public transport is few and far between, but rest assured you can tour the place without driving yourself, just these will be more expensive than you find in other developed countries. NZ tourism doesn't have cheap transport options.
Public transport and NZ is terrible. It doesn’t take too long to get used to driving on the opposite side. You just gotta take your time.
