@@daveb3910 Of course there is the possibility. I would argue though its more political than it is a national security threat. It's not as if DJI drones hardware is not inspected and tested. @streaky81 4 месяца назад +1

@@kevinj2261 I don't think you necessarily need large mass carrying - if you're only spreading/spraying say once a week and it takes say 3 days for it to cover your entire farm the lift capability is more than adequate and staying low mass keeps the various aviation regulations that you need to comply with in check. What it needs is an umbilical that auto attaches/detaches to it can refill and charge itself - then DJI are onto something and it becomes a mass-market (at least as far as agriculture) product. BUT they have to go through this phase of development first I suppose. They already do the dock thing with the Matrice and automated ops exactly of that nature, so they have experience in it - they just need to do it for this and include a way to fill the tank automatically.

Awesome video and awesome drone! A thought: An integrated package with tank and battery that the drone could pick up and put down by itself would make this next level. Perhaps a platform it could be dropped on that would automatically connect power and hose. A small internal battery for making the hop from drop off to pick up and a set of three of those next to each other, than the drone could basically operate completely on its own. Wouldn't even have to stop the blades.

And fortunately, we were up wind. Being a tech guy, I assumed it was GPS guided and autonomous. Which begs the question, when using this near populated areas, it doesn't know if people/pets/animals are nearby. Our local farmers will stop spraying in their high rigs if walkers or cyclists go by and they're attentive to wind direction.

I am very impressed with the use of drones in the agriculture industry. Does the ongoing effort to ban DJI drones impact the agriculture business? Do you have to use an app that tells the FAA about the location, duration, and purpose of the drone operation?

I haven't seen all the videos yet but am interested in how you track maintenance intervals.
There are reporting requirements in most exemptions I've seen for monthly input on flights, or even if zero flights.
So I imagine there is a way to track number if flights, flight time and of course calendar intervals (most of them at 6 months IIRC).
It would be nice to be able to see how you have that set up, beyond just flying it and showing its delivery capabilities.

    *Setting Up the T40*
    * *Field Mapping: (**0:34** - **2:00**)* The T40 remote allows for field mapping directly in the field or importing pre-mapped fields. Start points, spray lines, flight direction, and entry points can be easily edited.
    * *Application Settings: (**1:52** - **2:56**)* Preset templates (e.g., fungicide) adjust application rate, flight speed, route spacing, and height above the canopy. The drone automatically determines the flow rate based on speed, spacing, and desired gallons per acre.
    * *Droplet Size: (**2:40** - **2:53**)* Rotary nozzles allow for changing droplet sizes directly from the remote.
    * *Physical Setup: (**3:07** - **4:33**)* The T40 is transported with folded arms secured by a ratchet strap. Arms are easily unfolded and locked into place using a cam lock design.
    *Operation*
    * *Battery Management: (**9:36** - **10:29**)* The demonstration used three batteries, a T30 charger, a cooling kit, and a generator.
    * *Flight: (**6:46** - **7:32**)* The T40 flies autonomously to the start point, lowers to the preset height, and begins spraying. It automatically returns to the home point when the tank runs low or at the end of the mission.
    * *Prop Wash Vortex: (**7:37** - **8:32**)* The drone utilizes a dual rotor system, rotating clockwise and counterclockwise to create a powerful vortex for optimal product distribution.
    * *Refilling and Battery Swap: (**11:38** - **13:35**)* The video demonstrates how to quickly refill the tank and swap batteries to minimize downtime.
    * *Efficiency: (**14:39** - **16:40**)* Cycle times determine overall efficiency. The demonstration showed a cycle time of around 6 minutes for 4 acres, suggesting a potential of 40 acres per hour.
    *Safety Features*
    * *Manual Override: (**19:47** - **22:02**)* Operators can manually override the drone's flight path, spraying, and return-to-home functions for increased safety and flexibility in navigating obstacles.
    * *Obstacle Avoidance: (**17:20** - **17:37**, **23:04** - **23:36**)* The T40 boasts a robust radar system and binocular vision which automatically detect and avoid obstacles, enhancing safety during autonomous operation.
    * *Signal Strength: (**22:56** - **23:04**)* The demonstration highlights the strong signal range of the remote, ensuring reliable control even at distances up to half a mile.
    *Additional Notes*
    * *Chemical Mixing: (**14:19** - **14:22**)* The video emphasizes the importance of a well-designed trailer setup for transport and chemical mixing to ensure proper product agitation and suspension, especially at higher concentrations used with drone spraying.
    * *Automatic Mixing Station: (**8:55** - **9:10**)* The video briefly mentions a forthcoming automatic chemical mixing station.
    * *Radar System: (**16:42** - **17:14**)* The T40 incorporates a forward-facing radar and camera system and turns around at the end of the field to optimize obstacle detection.

Currently EU banned almost all aerial spraying, that regulation mainly targets traditional fixed-wing airplane spraying but drone spraying is also classified into aerial spraying. It's gonna take several years to amend the regulation.

It should be mentioned that, when he says that he is folding out the antenna to keep connection, he is actually putting the antenna in the WRONG position. The antenna transmit and receive their signals from the side, not the tip. You are more likely to have connection issues when you have he antenna pointed straight at the aircraft.

I’ve seen the faster the batteries charge the less charge cycles before the battery reaches its end life.
10.5 gallons of fertilizer solution is more than 85 lbs. that means there is a lot of energy required just to hover.
