I definitely like the tab S due to the aspect ratio. ..videos just look better in the wide screen aspect ratio. the only thing is that's better is the internal 32gb on the tab S 2
Hands down the BEST video on youtube comparing the two. Since everyone was talking about the worse battery life and screen resolution on the S2, I was wondering how it was considered an upgrade of any kind. Now I know.
the best review i have ever seen, i watched so many videos, but sakitech simply th honest ,reliable. .Other channels just talk specs , but this channel tells what those specs do in real world. God bless youtube. I think i go for s2..
Thank you for this great video. Could you please do me a favor? Could you try and see how the IGN app is displayed? On my Tab S 8.4 it can't be displayed on landscape mode, only portrait mode. In my iPad Mini I can see use it in landscape mode. What I would like to know is if the reason I can't use the landscape mode in my Tab S it's because the IGN app detects it a 16:10 screen and not a 4:3 one so that if I were to buy the S2 8.0 (4:3) I could use said IGN app in landscape mode. Thank you!
Great video Saki! The older Tab S is a super Tab! I have the 10.5 inch, super smooth in every aspect. But the most important reason for me staying on the older, is the battery at 7900mAh. I believe the bigger S2's battery is only about 5300mAh. And the 16:10 res is by far the better in my book, since it's much better for movies/videos. But actually also for reading and browsing social media. I kinda like the narrow reading format, more newspaper like, if you will.
i tried the tab s2 and the tab s. honestly, i ordered the tab s and i got a awesome experience with it. it has a better and bigger display, led flash, and it is just perfect !!!! i dont care if the s2 is newer and is thinner and lighter, l like the tab s more
Thanks for this very useful comparison. One minor observation however, at 13:30m you say they have the same amount of RAM. They don't, the S2 has 32Gb ie. double the 16Gb of the S. Other than that, this is a good video, well done!
I'm going for the s2; first time buyer. I'm only going to use it 3 days out of the week and only for Skype and Microsoft word and excel. I rely more on my iPhone for any other type of use. Lovely review!!
@@GuyfromEarth3000 Wait. Good catch. I am on Nougat. My bad. It has really good battery life now tho. Out of the box the Tab S 8.4 has terrible on screen time and battery life in general. Personally find reading in 16:10 better than 4:3 because im less likely to skip reading lines when Im tired. 4:3 is only better for portrait typing and portrait browing, but thats not a big deal if ou just rotate it...
The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is the clear winner here! Samsung dropped the ball on this Tab S2 model because other than a slightly better processor, it fails in almost every other area.
Just sold my S 8.4 to get the S2. I like what they have done and while you have a larger letterbox with the S2, the video comparison still shows the same amount of video on the screen, it is just stepped back a little more due to the aspect ration differences.
just wanted to point out something you clearly missed at your final conclusion even though it's rather obvious: do go for the Tab S 8.4 instead of the new model if you are planning on using the device for video watching more than book reading...! also, I kind of missed some content on the fact that multi tasking on a 4:3 is rather less useful than on a 16:10 (more feeling of working space, that is why most professional offices have 16:10 screens nowadays...)
Yes I have an Samsung Tab E 9.6 which has 16gb, and I bought a 32gb micro Sd Card to get more storage because lets face it 16gb don't do anything. And I'm about to get an 64gb Micro Sd Card.
Thanks for a very good review, one of the best I've seen. However, what is it about the sound quality that it never is approached? Why the silence about sound?
If there was a tab s2 10,5+ inch with 16:10 ratio i would be in love. The metal premium case and the updated processor but sadly i think they screwed up with this one.
Saki; thank you for giving me insight in regards to Samsung Tab S and Samsung Tab S2; I can now decide which to get for my tablet replacement for my Blackberry tablet, of which I've had for a couple of years which were the best years hehe.

Great review between the two products. I decided on the Tab S 8.4" as it is pretty much 90% the same product outside of the screen ratio. I prefer the 16:10 ratio despite the S2 being slightly faster in processor speed. Plus I just saved myself about $50.
Great review thanks, been having loads of issues with the Tab S and its currently at samsung for repairs...for the third time...seems S2 is the way to go..

Great detailed video. One question, in the USA I can't find anywhere to purchase the s2 (LTE). I looked on Amazon, Best Buy, & Samsung's own site & I can't find the LTE model anywhere, any ideas, thanks.
I love my Galaxy Tab S1, and will continue to stick with it, but there's only one issue i have with it, and that is the storage. 16GB is not enough to keep everything on there. Infact i had to reset the system because something was taking up the entire storage, and i couldn't do anything from download apps, updates or even take photos. I couldn't figure it out what it was. Now that i did, i have a few GB's left.
ahmed rahiq Yes i know, but i couldn't do anything with it as the main storage was used up by something i couldn't find. It wouldn't even let me update the system or the apps. That's why 16GB isn't a good amount of space. I already had a 64GB sd card inside, so there are no problems there.
The tab s2 to me is a huge let down. I want a new tablet but I think I will have to go with the older version. The new aspect ratio is a deal breaker. My question is the tab s you have in the video had lollipop but does it have the multi window option like you showed on the tab s2.
if samsung would've not wanted to jump on apples bandwagon of 4:3 aspect ratios and stuck with their 16:10 on the s2 hands down everyone would've wanted it even more
I think the tab s 2 is a bit of a failure, going with an ipad aspect ratio just ruins it. 16.9 was the best. the only thing that is good about the tab s is the processor but even then it's slower than the Ipad Air 2 as the geekbench for that is 4529 and that tablet is a year old. Sticking with my Tab S 10.5 for sure.
+nemesissisemen yeah, 16.9 is the way too go. I think the Tab S2 was a gamble for Samsung, I mean there was no adverts or big release for it like the original Tab S. Hopefully the Tab S3 goes back to 16.9 but I'd go for the First gen Tab S. It's still very quick ( keeps up with my iPhone 6 ) and still has the super AMOLED screen. Looks amazing!!
+Joe Pinder Yea the first gen tab S is ok but i cant bring myself to justify its purchase now, both with it being released over a year ago and even though it is fast, the S2 and other tabs available now outperform it by a significant amount.. my first tab was the tab 7.7 with its beautiful amoled screen, then got the note 2 but felt it was small since i got used to a tab now hoping for another tab.. looks like i'll fall back to my initial choice, the mediapad x2 and see what sammy does next year with their tabs, the x2 has a weak software offering on stock and no amoled screen of course but with its performance and some rooting and romming and third party apps, i might make it work out.. sigh.. no amoled.. ah well, thx for the info man..
Thanks you saved me some money i was thinking on getting this but wasnt sure..sticking with my S8.4 best tablet i have...why have Samsung decided to get rid of the IR blaster on some of there devices and wheres the flash...its like there cutting back..only thing i wish i had on my S8.4 was more ram...16gb just doesnt cut it...would like to see what the picture size is like from the S2 9.7 compared to the S8.4 screen..to see if the bigger size of the S2 9.7 would be worth getting instead of the S2 8 version.
if you want to play games take the s2 because of the SoC, i do have the s 8.4 and it's nice, but i notice light lag on games like and the same with the UI (not much lag but s2 feels quicker in terms Of openning apps an loading webpages)
So I'm not upgrading from a tablet (do not currently own one) so should I get the s2 or s1? Mainly for gaming and reading. Don't watch movies but watch a lot of RUclips. I know right Samsung what in the world world were you all thinking, it does have a nicer build and fingerprint scanner but it has too many shortcomings, Smaller screen, lower resolution, smaller battery, removed the IR blaster, removed the camera flash, barely any performance upgrade. Try again Samsung with Tab S3
+Elias Ayala Larrauri I use my Tab quite excessively. Where ever I go, my Tab 4 is with me, so there's quite some high use with it. So far I'm thinking either the S8.4 or S28.0
If you take photographs of near objects, a flash is immensely useful. Otherwise you will have the device casting shadows on your object. I am buying the Tab S because S2 does not have a flash.
Perfect comparison !!! Thanks a lot ! Tab S 8.4 is a way better than Tab S2 ! Tab S2 has better score on benchmark but in practice it's not a big difference , while gaming for example !
weng with the S2. Before you guys go crazy I have used an S and I just like the Tab S2 much better and thats better in my opinion. The screen "looks" better. Camera is better. Speed is leaps and bounds better. Battery life is a little better. All those considered it is the better buy for me. Plus the Tab S2 LTE costs the equivalent of $380 in my country and the S costs an equivalent of $300. So both are pretty affordable
There Was some BS!! 1.(Battery life Sux in Tab S2 (read the test/reviews and u will know) 2. Tab S Screen was better than Tab S2 3. Tab S Camera Was better Because Flash, and 16:10 is better for watching those pictures(Full Screen) Sakitech just like Tab S2 more, thats why there was BS and mistakes.
Why not, it's cheaper at this point and still rocks some strong specs. If you are buying for short term get the s, but if buying for long term get the s2 so it can sustain through a longer time.
+Renato S No, it's a laggy, and spiky peace of shit. where things as basic as web browsing aren't smooth. You'll find this device is full of frame hickups, and anyone who comments which they will saying "MINE don't have any hehe her her" Just google search it, you'll find its a VERY potent, and annoying issue for the s1, and prob s2. games lag like a bitch on it, due to its USELESS quad hd screen, it's battery life is shorter then my phone, and most games look like SHIT on it, because most scale down. it's a peace of shit, don't bother with it. get the sony one. You'll be glad you did.

so if you want the new best thing .lol . get tab s2. but if you want the best best thing especially for movies and multitasking, get tab s 8.4.
although the tab s 8.4 is the best so far, I would advice you to get the s2 8.0.

Thanks for the great review. You helped me make my decision..
love your videos... can you compare they with IPAD MINI 4??
I hope you can do another comparison between the tab s2 8.0 vs the tab s 8.4 which runs on a snapdragon chipset and not the exynos variant. thanks!
I just bought the S8.4 a couple of months ago and I don't regreat it
glad to know i'm not alone.
+UlysSes Rivera y onlly 1 thing chance actually cpu and u don't care about games so am i.You ll never regret
+flap jack plus 8x5 aspect ratio is way better
+Super1di0t Not for watching videos it's not
Hey! I have a Samsung Tab 4 8.0, Should I upgrade? Would it be better if I upgraded to either the Tab S 8.4, S2 8 or Pro 8.4? (in your opinion)
Tab S2 8.0. it's lighter and stronger than s 8.4.
+HunterC09105 yes upgrade tab 4 8.0 is obsolete for gaming, and i think you might like s2 8 better, and it cheaper for now beacuse of the sales
+Elias Ayala Larrauri I use my Tab quite excessively. Where ever I go, my Tab 4 is with me, so there's quite some high use with it. So far I'm thinking either the S8.4 or S28.0
top notch comparison-review, thanks
thanks a lot ur review clear my doubt which one should i get :)
very good comparison .. thank you
If you take photographs of near objects, a flash is immensely useful.
Awesome review! Thank You!
Great, informative review!
weng with the S2. So both are pretty affordable

appreciate the review bro. cheers =)
very well done, thanks for the review
Is it true that the USB connector on the S2 is a micro USB type A and on the S micro USB type B like all the smartphones uses
the split screen feature works also on the WIFI version???
Play games experience could be nice for gamers to make their selection! I enjoy a lot to get clean and simple main point from the video, indeed.
all I care about these two is aspect ratio! tab s for movies!
+dilworth6113 full screen
great job, great review!
Which Samsung Phones work well with the mirroring?
There Was some BS!!
1.(Battery life Sux in Tab S2 (read the test/reviews and u will know)
2. Tab S Screen was better than Tab S2
3. Tab S Camera Was better Because Flash, and 16:10 is better for watching those pictures(Full Screen)
Sakitech just like Tab S2 more, thats why there was BS and mistakes.
excellent comparison, thanx
Damn, you know how to do a review. Spectacular. You sold me on the older version. The deal breaker was the aspect ratio. I don't like the 4.3.
good job. i am getting the tab s. thanks
Very Very great reviw , Thank you
Should I buy the s1!!
Seriously!
Why not, it's cheaper at this point and still rocks some strong specs. If you are buying for short term get the s, but if buying for long term get the s2 so it can sustain through a longer time.
yep, 4:3 ratio sucks. I have the S1 and its amazing
+Studat same here 16:9
