  • Hey guys, here's race 2 of my first race weekend and track time at Palmer in Massachusetts. Super fun track with lots of elevation, fast and slow corners, and late apexes. I will post a full weekend vlog in the coming weeks, but for now I want to get a video out quickly so you can enjoy some race footage.
This one was a tough battle with the 9 car the whole way. Being my first weekend at this track, I found a good rhythm and learned where I could push my car, and what line I felt worked best for my car's setup. That being said, obviously tons of room for improvement. My fastest lap ended up being a 1:58:830, which I think is a really solid time for the SSM cars.
Too bad there were only 3 of us this weekend!
    1993 NA Mazda Miata
SSM class (Showroom Stock Miata, i.e. closest to stock out of all Miatas on track)
    Toyo RA1 tires

Gabe, good job! I thoroughly enjoyed this video! What mods do the other Miata's have that you don't? BTW, see if you could get a device that shows your speed and RPMs. I think that Dan had something like that in his videos. That would be really cool to see! Let me know and maybe I could pick it up for you?

Thanks Fred! That’s on my list. I know it would be super helpful for me as well as the viewers here. I’m looking at the garmin catalyst which looks super helpful.
Good question about mods.. it’s actually hard to find a comprehensive answer, but the big known mods are tires (which is probably the biggest differentiator), shocks, exhaust, and some engine/intake stuff. My class can’t touch anything engine/intake related, and we run treaded tires, the same tire that some other classes use for rain. You can imagine what an extra 20hp and Hoosier slicks does to a Miata!
