When I was going through my last existential crisis, the hardest part of recovery was finding meaning in the small everyday things again. I literally had to put in mental effort to remind myself what matters to me and why. One tip that I can give on that - try and remember your past self, before the crisis. What used to bring you joy, and try and engage with those things again. You might still feel like “what’s the point” and it’s okay! But once you start experiencing joy again, these doubts will ease, I can promise you that. The healing process is tricky, but remember you are stronger than what your anxiety wants you to believe.

Hello Robin! I just wanna say, I’m so greatful that I found your channel. I’m currently going through an existential crisis for the third time in my life. It’s still as awful as it was the last time. But your videos really help so much. I’m taking it one day at a time, and every day I feel I little bit better thanks to you. So thank you for all your work ❤

Thank you for this video!! I am on a recovery journey after having a period of daily intense panic. I still have DPDR everyday but I feel like when I'm focusing my mind on a task such as reading or doing puzzles like you mentioned, then I just find that little bit of inner quiet and peace and its a very nice moment. I definitely recommend doing yoga as a way to connect more with your mind and not fight with it ( I used to fight a lot with the symptoms rather than accept them for what they were/are)
Thanks for the great tips here, also your smile is infectious:) to anyone reading this I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hey Robin, stupid question… do you think caffeine intake has anything to do with dissociation since it’s a stimulant? Is it a good idea to get off the caffeine for the time being?

Hi! That's not a stupid question at all :) I personally never stopped drinking coffee when in my dpdr and anxiety. I think the reason it works triggering is because it triggers similar sensations as anxiety (heart rate, more alert, ... ) and because when in dpdr you are afraid of those sensations, they trigger fear itself. I think it depends on how much you feel sensations from cafeïne and how 'afraid' you are of your own body at the moment. Does that make sense? But if that cup of coffee is something that still brings you joy, that might be worth more than the slight raise in heart beat ;)

That makes so much sense the way you explained it! I guess I’m just afraid of the feelings it gives me at the moment. Thank you!
