  • More repairs and work to get the DB 40TD Dozer back to working condition with a general overhaul.
This isn't a complete tear down, just a sympathetic overhaul of this dozer.
    Barn Find
    Will it start ?

I wanted to start my Sunday off well, so I decided to make a nice tea early & sit down to watch the latest video on the db bulldozer. Something about old machines, the build quality is so good, not this diecast shit & sealed units , covered in endless electronic sensors that we all face to battle with on modern machines, oh yes, the dreaded computer too chucked in by some design knob who has always sat in an office !!! Anyway, good clear interesting film showing us all the stages of maintenance, nice to see the young lady on board with a definite interest in helping or should I say doing most of the work🤣🤣🤣

Good thing you touched on there mucka was putting a drop of lube in the diesel. I was told that with this modern diesel it doesn't have the lubrication properties of the old stuff and advised every time we serviced the digger was to put a pint of hydraulic oil in a full tank of fuel to keep things lubed up...👍

    • @LordMuck

There's no point relying on the drain hole unless you're taking the tank off as these older ones are baffled so just hold sludge so it's best to suck them out and swill them several times.

My 1200 Select-O-Matic needs alot of help after getting worked hard by a old farmer who neglected it then it got parked for several years before I bought it. Cosmetically it looks good but after putting it back to work I really was disappointed. Needs new lift pump, injectors cleaned, injector pump resealed, throttle and shutdown cables replaced, and I suspect it may have some broken or stuck piston rings. I'm trying not to use it much till I can get into it to see the extent of the problems.
