- What are Dryads in the Witcher? In this video I try my best to explain the history of the Dryads. I will go over prominent Dryads, the Dryads effect on the witcher games, Eithne, Aglais, Braenn, Fauve, Sirssa, Morenn, Morénn and many other Dryads! A quick disclaimer - A lot of these videos use information from the witcher wiki, in some cases I do read directly from the pages, I do always make sure to include my own thoughts and other information I know myself, but I just want to make sure everyone is on the same page here. Even though I use information from the wiki, I do still create the videos, with time, effort and a lot of editing! The idea behind the lore videos is to present to information to you guys in a fun and more interesting way then you guys having to get the information from pages and read it yourself. If anyone isn't okay with this I apologise, but since day one I have always said where I get the information from. Thank you for reading.
"and explicitly will not have sex for pleasure"
Geralt from TW1: Hold me beer...
In TW1 you can coerce a dryad, right? I remember the dialogue suggesting that copulation can help the dryad improve her wellbeing. I believe that dryad was Morin.
+A Man Has No Name
Yep, and Morenn is her name. :)
Omg I thought the same thing lol. He had to get her card lol
EzioIlMentore like
Hold my mahakaman spirit
I missed Dryads in TW3. They symbolised to me more than any monster something that looks human enough, but is still utterly alien.
PS: AFAIK, Gerald banged at least two Dryads, one of them twice. Some girls, just wanna have some fun ;-)
Aha
When I meet my first Dryad in the Witcher 1 I told to myself "I am going to put my witcher penis inside that"
Sebastian Gerald got really old considering how his sexually activity decreased over the titles...
saaaaaaaame
*Geralt Ahem! I will not spoil anything but book readers will know more about the Dryad you meet in Witcher 1. Her name is Morénn.
Ciri was actually given the drink by Eithne but it had no effect bc she is the lady of time and space. This was a great chapter in the book.
Absolutely
I think it's rather because her destiny wasn't to become a dryad.
How about, the Lady of the lake? That would be very interesting!
Smells Ass I agree
Good idea mate
Thanks!
Smells Ass... that is all
4:09 LOL that explains the ridiculous fall damage in the witcher III
🤣🤣🤣
I love how the Dryads are basically their own race but are just turned into an African tribe in the show lmao
Dont be racist man they obvisouly cant make their own story so they need to use someone else
They should have ALL been painted green. Like said in this Video their Skin Tones are from Dark Green to Light Green
Their not just black there's white girls in there also.
Yes Netflix is racist. Sad
They are now just humans living in the forest.
The Dryads were my personal biggest disappointed with the show, they made them so completely generic and boring.
Yes!!! It's not at all about them being black, i really wish they would have painted their skins green. The black ones would be dark green and the white ones light green, and the representation would still be there. From the show alone i didnt get they were magical beings. I saw them only as idk, amazons or human ladies that ran to the forest. Such a dissapointment
I was confused by them. I just thought they were weird tribal women, only that they have magical water. They didn't show that they were magical at all.
"Dryads" is actually the collective term for advertisements that generate no revenue
Aha
Drink some water, lose all my memories and then become a dryad and chill in the woods all my life? Sign me up please.
WitcherGeorge: "...they have a love for instruments and music.."
Me: "I know where to never bring Dandelion..."
I recently started playing Witcher 3 and reading the books, absolutely fascinating world. Really happy I found this channel.
Thanks man!
They are called forest Nymphs (Earth version of Sea Sirens) or Самодиви. I was surprised to see them depicted as black tribe in the Witcher Series, could not get the idea behind it.
shouldn't be surprised by woke hollywood anymore
Nice video.
I liked the story in the books were Geralt & Ciri were in Brokilon.
Thank you Ashley
One of my favorite stories as well. It's monumental considering it's when they first meet. The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny short story collections have some of the best stories found in them. I love the Saga but for me stories like 'The Lesser Evil' and ' A Shard of Ice' in ways truly describe the core of these characters we've come to know and love.
I started reading Baptism of Fire and wanted to educate myself on the characters and the places mentioned. Thank you this was very helpful. I will be catching more of your vides.
Funny enough Eithne is actually pronounced "Enya".
It's celtic in origin and means Kernel/seed or nut
Which is completely sensical to give this name to a dryad 👍
I really enjoy your lore. It's helped me get into my witches 3 play through a lot more
Thank you man!
I also wanted to add that I subbed because I do enjoy listening to lore videos and stuff while I work on my personal projects. Thanks!
Good luck with the projects!
Can we get a video on Milva next since we're on the dryad train?
Maybe!
Love Milva, hurts to think of the sansa. I'm gonna re-read the witcher saga for a 2nd time, almost done Blood of Elves.
Sigh....got a rush to play Witcher 3 again...I started over again too. Fresh start. No new game plus stuff this time.
This makes my day ! Feeling like revisiting the books haha . Nice job mate !
Thank you Vanlop
The Netflix series really fucked things up when they made the Witcher.
Seconded
I love this channel so much! I also totally understand your new schedule. when I watch a video I usually think a little about the time it probably took to make but with these video's it's harder than say some gameplay. Luckily you've given me some understanding of how long these take :).
Thank you Pjotr, that's great to hear and thank you for understanding.
OMG bro I can't believe you finally made this video, I've been waiting a long time for this Georgie. What about the lady in the lake?
Thanks man and good idea!
I really need to play the Witcher games. I have TW1, 2, and 3 on Steam but I haven't got any time to play them and there are so many more games out there I have to play too. In the meantime, I'm really enjoying discovering the bits of lore that haven't been revealed to me by LPers, so thanks for that!
They're really good!
Aaaaaannnnnnnddd starting a new Witcher 3 game
Have fun man!
Love these Witcher lore videos helps with understanding the Witcher universe so thank you keep up the great work and good luck on the Path
thanks man!
This was a nice find on my recommendeds, as I just started playing the Witcher for the first time :0. Would be interested in maybe a video on the Drowners? Or Frightners? Also your voice is very calming
I Honestly didn't like what they did to them in the netflix show
I love witcher lore, awesome job!
Thank you mate
Redania was filled with Zerrikanian dryads, according to netflix
I really like your content please keep it up the vids ,they are very entertaining and informative
Man, Witcher 1 romance system was so different from the other two. Yah, I did the naughty with a dryad.
😂💀
Dryads can very well be interpreted as the Amazons of the Witcher series.
Very much so!
I'm still watching the videos George.... me and our lads are still around
Ayyyyyyyy
Same!
A witcher George lore video on my birthday
best birthday present ever
Happy Birthday man!
Great video as always. Keep up the good work.
Thank you mate
Explain the lore behind thecasting of triss in netflix
Impossible because there Is no lore
That feeling when you look at a totally beautiful painting made by a concept artist who probably used 10 years to get to this level. But they never took 1 minute to find out where the arrow goes on the bow. x3
aha
aha
Most people never heard of the archers paradox. they think the arrow is knocked on the same side as the draw arm.
Depends on what style you are using. Most horsebows were used with the arrow on the handsome not the thumbside
@@society_archer7104 i think that's why he complained. The elf archer showed no real archery knowledge. didn't even know there were people who rests their arrow on the thumb side. I do archery and i have never seen it. You aim with your arm so the most inline with your arm are your knuckles not your thumb. The archer in the video was aiming down thumb side but her arrow didn't flop... from the bow considering nothing is holding it to the shelf. Nothing about that picture said research were done. The bow string is using the wrong knot.
Lady do the lake?
My god George answered my prayers I'm famous now right? Hi mum!
There you go aha!
WitcherGeorge appreciated brother was a great vid
Please! a video about Ofier!
good idea man!
Music name, please? fascinating work as alwyas buddy
Nicee I've been waiting for this one
Glad you liked it man!
Morenn and Morin... Hot damn... :D
morenn is my desktop picture for the past 4 years
According to Netflix they're black people
Mistake! In Netflix they are Dryads from Brooklyn not from Brokilion
Keep up the good work!
Thank you fabian
Do what you love right? Dryads are interesting creatures. Thanks for all of the uploads!
Np man! Thank you
Having a dryad in Witcher 3 would have been great as well imagine if you accidentally touch the dryad or you know move her while sprinting they would attack you directly would have been some great gameplay options if you want to survive don't touch them the Witcher 3 dryad edition someone should make a mod
That would be awesome!
If you haven't already, you should do a video on magic in the witcher universe.
I kinda touched on it in my conjunction video, but good idea!
Nice vid! Always wondered who tf that Éithne chick on the Gwent card was.
Thanks man
They are similar, in terms of their attitude towards men and procreation, to the Amazons. The Amazons mated with men from outside their tribe and only accepted girls, the boys would usually be sent to be raised by their fathers or were killed or left for dead.
There were times when particularly skilled warrior men were allowed to form an "alliance" with Amazons. Similar to how Frexinet was "used" in Brokilon in The Sword of Destiny.
Interesting!
This is true.
Can we get a character video on the notable Dryads? As a fan of the books and games, I wish we got to see Brokelon in the games
Sure at some point!
"skin tones of dark to light green"
Netflix's Witcher: but diversity tho
for real, i cringed whenever the dryads scene showed up
it was also unfortunate that the dryads were clothed too.

@@Raccon_Detective. that would make sense if it wasnt for the fact that there was already nudity in the show,
at least theres no gay couple or some collored mohawk furry
According to the show, they're black people...so.
Not fond of them. Indifferent. I say they can have their share of the woods like leshens. I like to work with leshens when there is an alternative to do so. (And succubus... Sometimes trolls... And most non humans.)
This video seems like a good lead in to a more in-depth video on Milva.
Thanks man!
Dryads on Netflix aren't even green and the actors who played them can't act I am so dissapointed
they are also completely clothed too unfortunately.

I watch the first episode of that show. Thoroughly disappointed. It looks so cheap.
I remember the scene in the books where Eithne descends from the tree down the bracket fungi and it was so vivid and epic and amazing... and then I saw the show....
For those who haven't done it yet, you really need to read the books! There is just so much in there that hasn't been explored in the games yet. Brokilon is described wonderfully, and I can remember a lot of fans on the official CDPR forums hoping it would make an appearance in Witcher 3. Alas, one day we'll get to explore the primeval forest of Brokilon in a future title, maybe get to meet Eithne, see how Braenn is doing.
That would be great!
Indeed! I have a feeling we're going to see more of the Continent in the upcoming Gwent single-player game/campaign.
are they mutants?
origin?
Forest bae
Why in the hell does every fantasy writer that makes up a race that loves them some nature(refuses to harm trees especially) completely ignores dead wood that's easily found in any forest. Using dead wood that's found readily available doesn't harm a single living tree. And ultimately clearing out the dead wood helps the forest against wildfires, and cutting limbs off of trees is better than letting them grow wild as any arborist could tell the idiot writers. If you have 2 branches in a tree that are touching each other... one branch need to be removed for the health of the tree because those branches will rub off the bark due to swaying in the wind and no bark is a vector for insects and disease. Bark is a trees skin, it is the trees protection from insects and disease, allowing the two limbs to rub together until the bark is gone is the same as allowing a person with their arms crossed because of a deformity and always rubbing together until their skin is worn away and muscle is showing. You would remove one.
Hell I just got back home from a week long camping trip and we had a campfire every night and not a single tree was harmed, all dead wood collected from the ground around trees or driftwood from the lake we camped at, the wood from under the trees made good kindling as it was all small branches.
I guess maybe for them it's the equivalent of us harming humans. Perhaps they have other magical methods of preventing the problems you described?
Maybe the Dryads would be able to magically perform an arborists job but Wood Elves from The Elder Scrolls games or any other fictional lore based upon not harming trees that follows the same guidelines? Also what's the harm to trees to use dead wood that's lying about a forest floor? Harm? no more than using human hair from a barber shop floor to make string, but does a service to trees by removing extremely flammable material from their immediate vicinity. It all makes no sense.
The forest of Brokilon is like a living, breathing biome with magical properties some of it is explained but Sapkowski left a lot to the imagination as well.
Stealing this, thanks mate.
dude....it's a fantasy game. it doesn't have to make sense or be sensible. we get enough of that from the real world.
I think that Brokilon is some kind of lovecraftian thing, with a mind of its own.
Good point!
I only know about Dryads from Xena
Could you recommend any secondary quest with great rewards on Witcher 3 please? Thank you.
Green Asari?
I remember reading about this in one of the first books
Don't worry about how people are going to react to the schedule, I think most of us reasonable people can agree that your happiness and enjoyment is much more important than getting an extra video or two a week
thank man!
I volunteer my self as tribute!
It's fine, Ill take this one.
What was the thing in the netflix series that could assume shapes of other people and also get all their memories by that act?
Doppler i believe it's called a shapeshifter
A doppler and they werent suppose to look like that.
CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO EDIT THE SLOW MOTION OF THE PICTURES IN THE VIDEO?❤
YOU SHOULD MAKE A VIDEO OF SUCUBUS
So where do the first dryads come from? If they procreate with elf's and humans, are the first dryads humans or elf's transformed ?
Lady of the lake is one of them?
In the netflix series the dryads looked like normal people, kind of like the tree-people from the series one hundert
2:34 WOULD
What is the song used in the beginning of the video? And also, is that a cover? Thanks
I honestly can't remember sorry! I made this video a little while back now!
Do a profile on each dryad, they're very different.
good idea man!
I first read it as "dry ads" and just was like the fuck how can an ad be dry?
Basically toned down versions of Tagrutas from Star wars right?
Francesca Findabear next!
Good idea man!
So... The green mixed with a bosmer?
Nice! Too bad they are gone.
There still around I think, but we'll see!
WitcherGeorge let’s hope! So many cool creatures are either extremely rare in world or extinct :/
But what happens if a Dryad gives birth to a boy?
Also for other listeners: In the Netflix series, you meet them in Season 1, episode 4.
So gryads are basicly garudo?
My nickname for dryads is broccoli
What is that scar Geralt has in the gameplay? Next to his regular eye scar
Heart of stone Gaunter scar!
Align of Anar.
The Wooden Elves. They praise Kurnos- God of the Woods. Ararielle-God of the Radiant in the Holy forest of Awyglon
Thranduil!
Can you please tell me the name of the music in the background
I think it's a witcher 2 ost 'nocturnal forest'
Darude Sandstorm
Dryad vs leshen
Brokilon. Wonder where the inspiration for that name came from. XD
@dianna k WT...?!
All that she wants is another baby. She's gone tomorrow, boy.
:(
who is here after seeing neflixs wokekanda dryads?
I don't really care for the color of their skin, since the books don't stipulate that they are green. But Eithné it's just garbage. In more than one excerpt from the books the writer made it clear that she had silver hair and eyes, she was even referred to as the "Silver-Eyed". The same problem with Queen Calanthe, that has brown hair and eyes in the series instead of ash-gray hair and green eyes since it was a mark of the women of their family who carried the Elder Blood.
We wuz dryyyyads n sheet.
@@Khyldr Hair and eye colour are irrelevant. You're just one of those people who get annoyed when Gandalf has 28 testicle hairs in the books, bit only 23 in the films.
Fun fact, "lore" has the same pronounciation as "thighs" (lår) in Swedish, which is fitting for the first few seconds of the video :))))
Not the exact same pronunciation tho
What do dryads do if they have a boy do they give them up, throw them away or give them to someone there very similar to amazons
@Jessica Mattox but still chance tho hmmmm....
The thumbnail art of the dryad is different of the opening of the video...... I don’t want to know why there’s a difference Master Witcher....
If the show had used this art shown in the video for the Dryads, it would be even more popular (and profitable). When will movie/tv companies learn that feminine women are attractive (and profitable)?
villageforts smashed garalts femur with a metal staff
That he did
Dryads are my favorite race in the Witcher Lore. Love their connection to nature so much, probably because I love nature myself so much.
> a trip...
wait where were the Dryads in Witcher 3? I've done all quests I'm pretty sure
There is none!
