Personally, I think the current number is fine, but I know that I am in the minority with that opinion. We'll see what they end up deciding with. Hopefully they've done their testing xD Thanks for commenting!
Great video! I tried both on release and didn't have a good time at all, RPG damage increase over M5 felt negligible and not worth the downsides, and the grenade bounced off more often than not. But I will for sure put some more time in them now
At first the RPG didn't impress me too much either but once I started consistently hitting my shot it became much more interesting. Having that extra damage done can count so much towards even just helping your team finish them off. The AT Grenade was infuriating xD It should be patched now as @Goldendroid mentioned.
I'm glad that it can help! I hate to be a self-promoter in the comments section but if you haven't watched my engineer guide, definitely check it out. It's my most viewed video for a reason. Whether you do or not, I hope you are smashing armour soon :)
This is what people are telling me. I honestly haven't noticed this before since I don't typically use C5 a lot. Thanks for the information :) It helps out a lot!
The CAV is designed to be resistant to grenades, mines and C5, by the way. That’s why your “weird” observations are so. The same way the MAV has much higher armour against projectiles but dies to C5 and mines like normal.
@@marzipandan767 I’m not entirely sure about the mines, I think most vehicles can only take 2 mines while a CAV requires 3, but don’t quote me on that. I do know the C5 and grenade damage is intentionally lower though. A Mackay or Sundance can’t solo a CAV at max HP, it only does 75 damage I think with C5.
I would like if you explain the various lock on sounds. I'm talking about how some lock ons beep and another sounds kind of like a horn. I never know what the difference is.
I think I know what you are illuding too, but just to be safe let me confirm that you know this: Usually if it is beeping, it will be when the lock is being applied, in this case you will see the words 'Lock on Warning'. You should not flare/countermeasure at this point. Once the lock is secured the enemy can hold it until for as long as they have you in sight and range, the beeping will turn to a constant drone and the text 'Lock on Warning' will turn red. You should STILL NOT flare/countermeasure at this point. Then the noise will turn to a dashing beep and the text will read 'Incoming Missile', this means that they have fired the missile and it is travelling towards you. This is when you should flare. This way they waste the missile. Rarely (and I mean really rarely) you will hear the 'other' lock on sound. I have no idea what causes it. Initially I thought it might be if you are soflammed but I've definitely been soflammed and not heard it. The beeping from the initial 'Lock on Warning' is a much higher pitched. The same rules apply, only wait until you see the 'Missile Incoming' Hope this helps!
I think I prefer the EMP grenades to the anti tank. Hitting them with an EMP first stops them healing or shooting between rocket and grenade launcher reloads . You can literally stand in front of them as you reload and they can't do anything other than hop out to gun you, opening it up for you to steal.
That's fair! Usually, when I'm hit with an EMP, I'll pull back since I can't do anything anyway. But you are right, not being able to deploy APS is really significant.
I agree, Javelin is pretty useless compared to the other launchers. It should be able to lock onto things without line of sight so long as they are painted.
Lock on missiles in general are fairly useless. When I'm in a vehicle usually they're more annoying than dangerous and only ever manage to kill me if I'm in a Heli dogfighting another Heli whilst someone on ground targets me with the fxm but unfortunately if I turn and run the other aircraft would kill me. For this reason if I'm in a Heli after the first few minutes when a bunch of infantry switch to their lock on crutches I make sure to lure other pilots out of their range
@@Bugfield2042 depends on most maps I find pretty decent cover the hardest maps to play helis are Caspian border and reclaimed for me. Reclaimed because of that aa in the centre that has crazy range and dps which is fine if I know an enemy is on it but even when you destroy it, it comes back not long after, typically when you're looking the other way. Caspian border just because there's so much tree cover for ground targets to hide in but not much for you to get behind. On those maps honestly I prefer playing ground vehicles or infantry
@@Bugfield2042 Honestly I don't think it would be as much of an issue as you think. You can still flare missiles locked while you are tagged, and the javelin travels really slow. As long as you aren't keeping yourself in a soflam sights, which you won't if you are finding cover, you'll be fine.
The SFAR is great, but damn I get bored of it xD I wish we had more AP underbarrel options available, I was absolutely saddened by the fact that none of the portal weapons got access to it when Dice did their portal weapon attachment revamp. Thanks for commenting :) It helps a lot!
I have had more dustings with the RPG than I have with the M5, but it is never enough that I wouldn't use it. Most of my rockets end up hitting ground armour either way so the tradeoff is worth it for me. But I completely understand your frustration. It's rage inducing having your well-placed shot go unrewarded :/
Absolutely, you can see in the damage numbers I have front, side/top, and rear. For most vehicles, the rear will do more damage, and the front will do less with the side and top doing a middle amount. A good example is that when you are fighting a MBT, you should always aim for the turret instead of the front since you'll get more damage done.
I enjoy the rpg when i hit my shots in the tanks ass for massive damage an the at nade also when tossed at tanks ass managed to get tanks that way when rpg is empty
It does crazy good damage from the rear! You always feel great when you get those shots! Glad to see there are more people using the RPG. I come across so many more M5 users these days.
Whenever I have a team that is frequently dropping loadout crates or ammo crates, I always have a much better game as engineer, I'll even go out of my way to thank them in the chat because unfortunately it's so rare.
I don't think it's just the AT grenade that does this. If you have C5 on you and anything hits it, it will detonate and do the full damage that the C5 does if it was detonated. If you get stuck, but manage to kill the enemy who deployed them, you need to get out and take them off of the vehicle otherwise the next blast that triggers them will kill you. If you've ever been in a tank and have been destroyed by a pistol, this is what players do, attach the C5 then shoot it with the pistol, it will come up in the feed as if your tank was destroyed by a pistol xD Good question! Thanks for asking :)
@@marzipandan767 in bfv I am pretty sure the damage of the blast is increased if you use a at grenade to blow up the sticky dynamite :/ but I could be wrong though but also have taken out a lot of tanks with dynamite followed up by at grenade and felt like it shouldn't have been as effective as it was.
I think the draw time for both is very similar, if not exactly the same. I've had no issues whipping the RPG out to deal with those fast enemy chopper flybys. Thanks for commenting!
The full reload animation on the RPG is actually slightly longer, but you can interrupt the reload and fire as soon as you see the rocket is fully seated unlike with the M5 which needs the full animation to complete before it gives you that next shot.
Annoyingly my unlock for the rpg seems bugged. I have the damage from shoulder launchers but stuck at 21 kills despite definitely having more than that since when I play portal modes which is fairly often I mostly play engineer with the rpg. Just today I got 4 vehicles for about 15 kills with it but it still says 21 so I'm not really sure when that'll happen. That being said I can live without it since with ap underbarrel, at grenades and m5 I have more than enough to kill vehicles
That sucks man. Sorry to hear. I thought Dice fixed these broken unlock issues a while back. It bothers me thinking that it is still prevalent :/ Hope this gets fixed for you soon! As long as you are using the AP underbarrel you'll be doing fine :)
@@cameroncarmichael6758 I have heard that portal and solo game modes seem to cause this issue. Which is a shame because I feel like a lot of the big YT's tell people that if they want to unlock things fast to do this :/
They are pretty rare. Whenever I see a teammate spamming them or loadout crates, I always call them out in chat since they are so valuable and I want others to be encouraged to follow suit! Engineer games are 100% better when you have someone like this :) Thanks for commenting!
It's definitely harder without dedicated ammo but given how much you die on average in this game, it usually quite easy to come back with (almost) full ammo. I've been tearing through armour as engineer lately and I think the key is to absolutely use the AP underbarrel with every engineer. Also, if you see a teammate throwing down a bunch of ammo around the map call them out in the chat. The more we promote this good gameplay, the more others will see this and hopefully start to do the same.
From what I've gathered, the M5 moves faster than the RPG, but both are still much faster than any of the other launchers (Stinger and Javelin). If you see you are soflammed and you see that second lock on being acquired, have your finger over that flare button, and the second the lock is launched hit it. Otherwise, you'll be absolutely demolished. You can't safely wait like what you can with stingers. Thanks for the support Cabal :)
From my understanding the round starts to drop as soon as you fire. Maybe you mean, what is the maximum distance at which a target can be in order for the iron sights to line up?
Same with any Launcher or missile in the game :) If you see the square you can lock onto it. For example, Anti air stingers can lock onto tagged ground vehicles.
Nice! Same here! I love seeing people complain that it is impossible to solo vehicles on the BF reddit, meanwhile people like me and you are soloing vehicles constantly :P Keep up the good work!
I cant pay atrention good enough to know if its been mentioned. Do they only work when hitting vehicles? Or do they go off on impact no matter what? Ive watvhed every video on youtube snd still dont know the fucking answer.
@marzipandan767 oh ok awesome, I wonder how good the splash damage is. Or what the damage compared to a normal frag, it must not be as good in some way for balance. Maybe the timer is much longer so it's not as effective against infantry but still does good damage.
@ItossSallad it's definitely less effective than the standard nade. I would only use it on infantry if you have no other choice. Taking it, you are pretty much committing to using it for AT
I wish they would add the underbarrel AP rounds to all the weapons that have underbarel granade launcher attachment. Like why? why do the other weapons that have grenade launchers on them dont also have the AP round? such an easy implemantation of content that would add so much veriety in gameplay and also longevity. Vault weapons should also have AP rounds. Im getting pretty tired of using the same 4 guns (SVK, AK, LCMG, SCAR) as an engineer.
Sadly underbarrel launcher are worse on consoles because you have down on the dpad. I wish I could make it press for underbarrel and hold for select fire.
Sorry, I'm maybe not understanding here. You have to press down on the DPad to get the underbarrel out? On PC, you can obviously bind it wherever. I'm not sure why developers don't allow such freedoms on console. It's not like it could be that difficult since the same system is already set up for the PC :/
@@marzipandan767 you have to hold down for a half second and it can't be rebinded to a press like I want it to. Things like seat swapping and quick unbarrel launchers as viable on console.
@@TheSoldierChristian :/ Damn it Dice, give these players what they need! Honestly, even though it sounds much more clunky, the AP underbarrel is so critical and so high DPS that I still think it would be worth it.
I do find it easier to use against choppers, but I've also experienced the most 'Dustings' with it. (Where you see the hit happen, but the game doesn't register it as a hit, and you don't get the kill.)

@@herrgates Did you know you can carry 5? You start with 1 fewer rockets than you can carry, so if you find an ammo crate, you can carry 5. Happy hunting my man!
It's been like that in most BF games which have SOFLAM or the equivalent. I don't mind it, since the whole Recon tagging is a fun team dynamic that unfortunately isn't exploited by DICE as much as it could be. My main concern here is I don't understand why it can still lock onto recon tagged vehicles without line of sight, but the Javelin cannot xD
Nah, it's good xD Soloing vehicles is easy with it. Take Crawford, and take every opportunity to get to an ammo crate to get to 4 rounds. Most vehicles can only take 3 rounds from the RPG. Having an AT grenade or AP underbarrel grenade launcher makes soloing vehicles even easier.

My only real gripe about Crawford, the minute you set up,snipers start to lick their lips! 💪🏾.I like to antitank Crawford out,use his engineer ability, and carry a lmg with under barrel AP,and burst the mini gun, drop down and continue the destruction with an lmg, before popping back up.Risky, but more satisfying than waiting on a sniper to get your "range",while holding down the mini gun trigger. We all hate snipers😡
They are both great for blowing ish up!! RPG is devastating, don't miss tho'!AT grenades were surprisingly destructive, but both need to be able to carry more ammo!
Personally, I think the current number is fine, but I know that I am in the minority with that opinion. I like vehicles being a struggle to take out for individuals, and instead needing to be dealt with by a team effort. I think Dice said that they plan to look into engineers in season 6. We'll see what they end up deciding with. Hopefully they've done their testing xD
Thanks for commenting!
Great video! I tried both on release and didn't have a good time at all, RPG damage increase over M5 felt negligible and not worth the downsides, and the grenade bounced off more often than not. But I will for sure put some more time in them now
The grenade got patched to stop bouncing off, it wasn’t intended.
At first the RPG didn't impress me too much either but once I started consistently hitting my shot it became much more interesting. Having that extra damage done can count so much towards even just helping your team finish them off.
The AT Grenade was infuriating xD It should be patched now as @Goldendroid mentioned.
This video would come out right as I’m experimenting with engineer.
I'm glad that it can help!
I hate to be a self-promoter in the comments section but if you haven't watched my engineer guide, definitely check it out. It's my most viewed video for a reason. Whether you do or not, I hope you are smashing armour soon :)
regarding the cav brawler, i recall its description in-game saying it takes less damage from c5
which also means a full health cav brawler will need more than 3x c5 to kill
This is what people are telling me. I honestly haven't noticed this before since I don't typically use C5 a lot. Thanks for the information :) It helps out a lot!
good info mate
Thanks! I'm glad that you enjoyed it! I appreciate you commenting!
holy we have the same loadout.
indeed, GREATER MINDS think alike 👍👍
You must be tearing through armour just like me then :)
Thanks for commenting!
Ive been using the at grenades after they came in the game and its nice to have another grenade that actually makes it difficult to choose what to use
More choice is always a good thing.
Except when they released the flashbang... That might have actually just been a waste of resources xD
The CAV is designed to be resistant to grenades, mines and C5, by the way. That’s why your “weird” observations are so.
The same way the MAV has much higher armour against projectiles but dies to C5 and mines like normal.
I didn't know that it is also resistant to mines. That's super good to know! Thanks for the tips!
The same rules apply, only wait until you see the 'Missile Incoming'
Hope this helps!
It should be able to lock onto things without line of sight so long as they are painted.
not onto helis though. Finding cover on some of those maps is already hard enough as it is.
Nice Video mate, I'm surprised at the range of the tracer dart. My mates and I are just trying to set up lock on with dart squad setup. Good fun 😂
@@Bugfield2042 Honestly I don't think it would be as much of an issue as you think. You can still flare missiles locked while you are tagged, and the javelin travels really slow. As long as you aren't keeping yourself in a soflam sights, which you won't if you are finding cover, you'll be fine.
SFAR, grenade and RPG, only time I don’t use smoke grenades…
The SFAR is great, but damn I get bored of it xD I wish we had more AP underbarrel options available, I was absolutely saddened by the fact that none of the portal weapons got access to it when Dice did their portal weapon attachment revamp.
Thanks for commenting :) It helps a lot!
Man I really wanted to use the RPG but it always seems like it dusts like 50% of my shots on air vehicles. It really is a deal breaker for me :/
I have had more dustings with the RPG than I have with the M5, but it is never enough that I wouldn't use it. Most of my rockets end up hitting ground armour either way so the tradeoff is worth it for me.
But I completely understand your frustration. It's rage inducing having your well-placed shot go unrewarded :/
Great content ..does it make any difference where you hit the vehicles regarding damage ?
RPG is strictly better if you have angel teammates who drop ammo crates 6 RPG in a row is awesome 😇
Whenever I have a team that is frequently dropping loadout crates or ammo crates, I always have a much better game as engineer, I'll even go out of my way to thank them in the chat because unfortunately it's so rare.
@@marzipandan767 My bro mains Angel 😇 and I main Crawford 😎 so I never run out of RPGs, smoke grenades, or under-barrels. Good video!! 🙂
Does the AT grenade have the same mechanic as bfv where if C5 is on the tank and you use the AT it does more damage combined?
RPG is definitely better with respect to damage and I suspect ttf as well. It’s not exactly quick draw but at least the animation seems shorter.
@@GremlinSciences Great to know! Thanks for sharing!
Which is a shame because I feel like a lot of the big YT's tell people that if they want to unlock things fast to do this :/
If....you can find an ammo crate!
They are pretty rare. Whenever I see a teammate spamming them or loadout crates, I always call them out in chat since they are so valuable and I want others to be encouraged to follow suit!
Engineer games are 100% better when you have someone like this :)
Thanks for commenting!
If they gave the engineer back it’s ammo crate than there might be a reason to actually use the class
Do you know if SOFLAM + RPG is near hit-scan like SOFLAM + M5 is?
From what I've gathered, the M5 moves faster than the RPG, but both are still much faster than any of the other launchers (Stinger and Javelin). If you see you are soflammed and you see that second lock on being acquired, have your finger over that flare button, and the second the lock is launched hit it. Otherwise, you'll be absolutely demolished.
You can't safely wait like what you can with stingers.
Thanks for the support Cabal :)
Both is good
Yep :) I meant more "Should I use the RPG or the AT-Grenade compared to the other options on choice"
*At what distance does RPG start to drop??*
From my understanding the round starts to drop as soon as you fire. Maybe you mean, what is the maximum distance at which a target can be in order for the iron sights to line up?
The amount of lag that I get the anti tank grenades always bounce back
From what I've been experiencing, they seem to have fixed it. Have you tried them recently?
I was really surprised when I was able to lock on with the RPG. Not such a dumb rocket after all.
Same with any Launcher or missile in the game :) If you see the square you can lock onto it.
For example, Anti air stingers can lock onto tagged ground vehicles.
I actually use both the RPG and anti tank grenade in my Boris load out it's very nice. I stopped using the mines because the bots are shooting them
Good man! I'll only use the AT mines with Lis since choosing them over a launcher just seems like a bad idea :/
Thanks for the comment!
I use both, 2-3 rockets and an AT grenade always gets me a kill on tanks.
Nice!
Only on vehicles. Otherwise, they go off on a timer like frag grenades.
Good question!
I mostly use rpg against choppers and jets, found way more easy to destroy them than the m5
I do find it easier to use against choppers, but I've also experienced the most 'Dustings' with it. (Where you see the hit happen, but the game doesn't register it as a hit, and you don't get the kill.)

Great video, accurate coverage. DICE, you have a lot of money. I, myself, can pick apart your knowledge of firearms and how ballistics and explosives work. To be clear, I am not an expert. But why not hire a weapons/tactics specialist from the veteran community? I’m not a veteran but gosh dang it, y’all made an abomination to your franchise with 2042. Get back to being a fun, casual shooter that rewards tactics over button mashing hysterics
Thanks for saying so! I appreciate you commenting.
I really hope that they take what they learned from this BF into the next. Whenever a new one comes out as of late, they seem to forget everything they learned from the previous iteration.
Use both?
I do, yes! But my question is should you use them or the alternatives. Not should you use one or the other.
@@marzipandan767 ah Okay. Can you make a Boris vs Crawford guide soon? For vehicle damage? Their main gadgets i mean.

My EA name is anti-vehicle lol I use the rpg all the time and even hit targets 400 meters away without a struggle
once i hit a CROSS MAP AT grenade because i missclicked LOL
just play LIS with her limitless television rockets
@echremb against ground armour Crawford with the RPG is much more efficient and deadly. Lis is much more suited towards AA.

@@marzipandan767 BROOOO NO WAY HOW DID I NOT KNOW THAT U ARE A LIFE SAVER FINALLY 4 ROCKET WITH RPG
@@herrgates Did you know you can carry 5? You start with 1 fewer rockets than you can carry, so if you find an ammo crate, you can carry 5. Happy hunting my man!
Why on earth would an RPG have lock on lol 😂
It's been like that in most BF games which have SOFLAM or the equivalent. I don't mind it, since the whole Recon tagging is a fun team dynamic that unfortunately isn't exploited by DICE as much as it could be.
My main concern here is I don't understand why it can still lock onto recon tagged vehicles without line of sight, but the Javelin cannot xD
Buff the RPG
Nah, it's good xD Soloing vehicles is easy with it. Take Crawford, and take every opportunity to get to an ammo crate to get to 4 rounds. Most vehicles can only take 3 rounds from the RPG.
Having an AT grenade or AP underbarrel grenade launcher makes soloing vehicles even easier.
