    I got this vacuum a few months ago. Hands down the best vacuum I have EVER owned. Sure, it is more cumbersome to move from room to room, but it gets the job done, and I've never had a clog. It does use a bag, so there is an ongoing expense, but it is essential to control allergens in the household. The suction is amazing. It gets everything up. Most of the other vacuums I've had break and/or lose suction (even with meticulous maintenance) after a few months. 9.5/10 💫
    P.S. - I have 2 small kids and 2 cats. If you are a mom, BUY THIS! I'm obsessed.

    The powerful suction of this vacuum is fantastic🌼 Compared to my old Kenmore vacuum there is no contest. The build quality seems a bit light but only time will tell about it's durability. For the money, this vacuum is the best available in my opinion.

    Good review which I mostly agree with. I got a C1 four years ago & it's absolutely the best vacuum I've ever used. I have no carpet but a few rugs. The suction is amazing. It never clogs & is very easy to maintain. And I love the bags...I will never have a leaky, suction-killing, Chinese bagless again. Miele is German engineering at its best.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  4 года назад +7

      In retrospect, communicating that the bag system is a negative was indeed too harsh.
      I think it's better to say that a vacuum that uses bags is a polarizing feature.
      You're right, many people do like the bag system. It's better for allergies, you don't have to empty as often, and never end up accidentally dumping dust / debris.
      However, it's also more expensive to maintain vs. a bagless system. For many consumers, if they can save money with a bagless system then that's the option they want to go with.

    So it looks like the Miele C1 did well on high pile carpet even though it doesn’t have an agitator brush head. Do you see any disadvantage with it compared to your traditional brush rollers? Or is it as good because of the superior suction?

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  4 года назад +5

      In our tests we certainly did not. It was just as good as high pile carpet as any high end vacuum with a brushroll.
      One thing that our tests may not show as well is for debris that is deeply embedded into the carpets. However, given the raw suction power of the Miele I am inclined to think it will still be more than sufficient for the vast majority of users.
      It still remains the best canister vacuum we've tested to date. It's incredibly well put together and a strong performer across the board.

    We should also keep in mind that this is made in Germany and from an ethical point of view, the manufacturer respects it employees and follows strict worker rights laws to ensure no one is being exploited in the manufacturing process. Every other review said the Classic C1 should not be used on medium to high pile carpets. Perhaps the compact C1, according to your review, is an exception. Could you please clarify. I need something for medium pile carpet and hardwood floors.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  4 года назад +2

      This is what Miele says (via Amazon)..."Recommended to clean all hard flooring and low Pile carpeting"
      I think they are probably saying that because medium to high pile carpets can cause excessive suction and make the machine hard to move and actually clean with.
      In our tests, I never felt like it was a problem on high pile carpets. But certainly some users could.
      In any case, I wouldn't say those other users are wrong...the C1 is indeed better on low pile carpet and hard surface flooring. However, I think many consumers would find it perfectly reasonable to use on other carpet types as well (excluding shag).
      Hope that helps!

    Good review. But why would a bag be a "con"? All the best machines have always had bags. The bagless craze has only come in in the last 20 years or so with the flood of cheap Chinese cleaners.
    Why would anybody want to have to shake out and clean out a disgusting plastic receptacle, when you could just remove and dispose of a filter bag in the trash without ever touching the yucky contents?
    And as anyone who has ever had the misfortune of using a bagless machine knows, emptying and cleaning the thing is disgusting, and a death sentence for anyone with even the slightest allergy or sensitivity to dust.
    A quality machine with a filter bag is the only way to go.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  4 года назад +3

      As to your question, "Why would anybody want to have to shake out and clean out a disgusting plastic receptacle?"
      Money.
      People don't want to buy the replacement bags. And if their discomfort and aggravation at dealing with a bagless vacuum means they save money a lot of people will go that route.
      That said, I can understand and appreciate your argument here. Calling it a con may have been a bit harsh. For those who don't mind the extra cost, don't want to deal with emptying a dust bin, or deal with allergies, I think there is a strong argument for a bagged vacuum.
      But if those things aren't important to you a bagless vacuum is a good option for many consumers.

    • @hansimgluck4965
      @hansimgluck4965 4 года назад +3

      Sure -- but if the price of a few filter bags is that much more important to somebody than avoiding that disgusting bagless thing, he's almost certainly not going to purchase a Miele anyway.

      Hans im Glück bags are the professional approach to home or commercial cleaning. Period. Good insight on your part. Money no object to releasing dust back into the air.

      @@hansimgluck4965 I have no sensitivity to dust, empty my bag-less machines outdoors, have 3 cats and a dog that fill up my Miele bags within three uses, and I don't want to keep a stockpile of bags so I won't be blindsided by a full bag right when I'm ready to clean. For me a bag-less machine is much preferred for daily cleaning.
      It's not the cost that I'm worried about; bags are cheap. I just don't care to have another thing to plan out just to clean my floors. I understand why a lot of people would prefer a bagged machine, but not everyone is the same. I will still reach for my Shark Vertex before I reach for my C1 Pure Suction (Also because the Miele doesn't pick up hair worth a crap with the combo head.)

    I would like to know why Americans love to use all in one units. I feel canister vacuums are superior to all in one builds.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  3 года назад +1

      By "all in one" do you mean an upright vacuum?
      I think a lot of it simply has to due with the view that canisters feel very "old fashioned", compared to uprights, which are viewed as a more modern alternative.
      That isn't exactly the reality, but that is the perception, and likely why canister vacuums aren't as popular in the USA.

      @ModernCastle  3 года назад +1

      @@johndee759 In general, no. There are incredible and terrible canisters and uprights everywhere you look.
      Really, I think it comes down to what you personally prefer to use. The nice thing about canisters is their relative simplicity and high performance. The nice thing about uprights is the flexible cleaning options.
      I end up using a cordless stick vacuum as my preferred vacuum form factor. It's a good balance of convenience and power.

    Just bought a Miele C1 Compact today, and a little disappointing to find out that this C1 is made in China. I thought they were made in Germany?

      If he would have described the video to the actual vacuum in the video you would have got the Made in Germany one. The Miele C1 Classic (One in this video) Is made in Germany. The "Compact" is made in China. All cause he called it by the wrong name....
