    Thank you for clearing up what was a confusing process to figure out the similarities and differences within this series. I have had a Miele for about 12 years and need a new one only because I need a new hose and they don't make the one for my model anymore. Otherwise it works great. This was very informative. This was a really helpful video. Selecting a new vacuum cleaner is bewildering, even after you decide you want a Miele. This sorted out the main differences in model series. I plan to check out the website as well. I am thinking of the C2 canister vacuum but did not quite understand if he said it could be fitted with an HEPA filter. The more expensive C3 one comes already fitted with that but is bigger and a little heavier.

    I tried a Miele C1 at Nebraska Furniture Mart and fell in love with that vacuum and I prefer the electric powerhead because of the agitation and the ability to turn on or off the beater bar. It's miles better than a Dyson, a dirt devil, a Bissell, or a shark. I love the sound of the suction motor in a Miele. It would be nice for Miele to sell a CX1 boost with an electric powerhead. The C1 leaves nothing to be desired unless you desire the extra durability of the C3. I also tried a Sebo Felix at a vacuum store and it's my favorite upright vacuum.

      Thank you for sharing! We love hearing how long Miele's last and stand up. It sounds like you might be in need of a service for your Miele. Most suction/over heating issues are due to air flow. This could be caused by dirt/dust stuck in the machine, an obstacle stuck in the machine, or filters that need to be changed. If you need to find your local Miele dealer, feel free to give us a call. We are happy to assist you :)

      I don't think their vacuums had the same model numbers back then. I just retired the Miele I had for 27 years and got a Cat/Dog C-3. Some of the differences between the old style and the new style are that the old style had a way to attach the handle with vacuum head attached to the base unit so you could easily pick it up and carry it around with one hand without needing to use multiple hands. The new models don't have that. The old models didn't allow you to control the suction. The new C-3 does. The air filtration may be a little fancier on the new units but otherwise there isn't much difference - except I paid, I think almost 3x what my mother paid for it when she bought it for me as a gift in 1982.

    Follow up by request: I bought the Calima Complete C3 from Vacuum Cleaner Market. My carpet needs did nor warrant a model with the electric powered head. The air powered turbo head works great on the few medium pile carpets I have. The service and pricing, delivery time, as well as the follow up at Vacuum Cleaner Market were excellent. This is not a paid testimonial. The Calima is very compact, easy to roll and vacuums hard surfaces and carpets really well.
    No cons at all.

    So many different settings🌼 (personally love the quiet setting living in an apartment building with thin walls). So many features, love the adjustable suction right next to your thumb. So much though was put into this machine, take the time to read the manual and you'll be stunned. The cord length works for me living in a small ish two bedroom apartment. Works great on my hardwood or carpet, just hit the toggle with your foot as you go. One of the best filters for air quality around. Invest and don't send cheap plastic vacuums to the dump every other two years.

    Owning c2(2000W) 9 years now, before EU regulation kick in. What a suction beast and flawless operation. Very compact, light powerful. What is most to admire, is not losing suction power over time. Or at least much less than some other brands. Clearly motor is very well designed high quality part.. Also keep in mind that is heavily used almost every two days for 9 years now. That tells something about durability of this little beast.

      thanks I was considering the shark nv352, but many people either says it lasts a long time, or that it immediately breaks. Either way it seems the warranty and durability is questionable, and I would rather spend a lot on something that will last a long time like the miele

      Which EU restrictions?

    • @majsterV
      @majsterV 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Stringer13ell "From 1 September 2017, new vacuum cleaners manufactured or sold in the EU must: Have a maximum power level of 900W. Have a maximum noise level of 80dB. Pass two durability tests: one to check how the motor copes with repeated use, and one to make sure the vacuum hose won't easily split or break."
      But in reality this regulation show Vacuum cleaners really don't need to have 2500Watt motors. It is suction efficiency, build quality and used materials what matter to whistand abuse. We do have now new 890 Watt Miele C3 and is equally strong in suction that was our old C2 with 2000 Watt motor. So this regulation was actually good to prevent some manufacturers do all their advertising on misleading technical data, that realy didn't tell anything. Most of that 2500 Watt motor power in old wacum cleaners did go in heat anyway. Now manufacturrers need to do better designs to maximize power of motor.

    Thank you for this presentation. This is the most complete and best video I have found on-line for these vacuums. I do have some questions if you can answer.
    Traditionally, upright vacuums are thought to be more powerful than canisters. Is this true for Miele vacuums? (I know they make or possibly used to make an upright vacuum, but I cannot find them on Amazon now.)
    I read on-line that locations that service Miele vacuums that are under warranty, will not service any that are bought through Amazon. Is this true? Also, how long is the warranty period?
    Which series, C1, C2, or C3 would you recommend for medium pile carpet? I think I have medium pile carpet, but I am not sure? I know I do not have short pile. What constitutes high pile carpet?

    I was expecting a lot more from this video. It helps to clear up only a tiny amount of the rampant confusion and obfuscation by Miele, and in some cases adds to the confusion: early on, (paraphrasing) "only certain models come with HEPA filters as standard, but you can add HEPA filters to all models at extra cost" and later in the video, "you canNOT add HEPA filters to these models." Huh? Miele itself even has two completely different websites supposedly "explaining" their vac models but a lot of features or absence of features aren't even referenced. This seems like a company whose mission statement is "To Confuse." They do a good job.
    I was hoping this video would break down all the C1, C2, and C3 submodels. E.g., (why oh why?) there are myriad C1 versions:
    C1 - Compact Pure Suction
    C1 - Compact Turbo Team
    C1 - Classic Pure Suction
    C1 - Classic Turbo Team
    C1 - Classic Cat & Dog
    They must be kidding. There is absolutely zero possibility of intuitively understanding just what these names mean. And this list doesn't include the CX1 vacs. And then there is the same mumbo jumbo confusion for all the C2 and C3 models. And then there are extra names on various websites for their models.
    Even on one of Miele's websites that provides for comparison of different models, there are more than 40 "features" listed, some of which are clearly redundant, but most are borne of their marketing department and provide virtually zero information as to what the feature actually is or does or what the benefit might be, plus some of the information is ambiguous. But this video does little to explain anything, such as attachments, power heads - and types of power heads, power, noise, or a lot of other information that would aid in making a choice. Lastly, the video wastes too much time on the intro and then re-introducing each '"section" with graphics and verbiage, but that's minor compared with the lack of actual usable information.

      Hi there, sorry for any confusion. This video is a few years old and since then, Miele has added a few new models. I will try and clarify everything for you: You can add a HEPA filter to any model that does not come standard. It is an additional cost, and the HEPA filter you will need will depend upon which model you purchase (complete and compact models take the filters ending in -50, and classic and upright models take filters ending in -30). All classic body styles are made in Germany, and are not completely sealed. Select Compact body styles are assembled in China, and are completely sealed. All complete models are made and assembled in Germany, and are completely sealed. Think of the Miele line in terms of C1 being more basic, C2 intermediate, and C3 all of the bells, whistles and luxury features. We have another video on our channel called the "Miele Buyers Guide" which does a better job at explaining all these differences. We know how confusing this can be. If you need any more clarification, please reach out to us at: contact@vacuumcleanermarket.com. Thank you!

      @@VacuumCleanerMarket Thanks. Oh yeah, I forgot, five months ago I was looking for a vac. Just kidding, thanks for the info. Still WAY too much confusion, Miele seriously needs to clean up its verbiage.
      Anyway, we went and checked out what was available in our local BB&B and a local vac store and were not impressed. Too lightweight and awkward and not robust enough to be taken seriously. And not user friendly. Such is the state of vacs today I guess. I am (literally) holding out, hoping to locate a used 30-yo Electrolux in good condition.

    OK, so I just bought a Miele C3. Very happy with the cleaning result, but in hindsight it wasn't worth the money. I could have had almost identical results with a "no brand" vacuum cleaner costing 50 USD. Surely the Miele is well built, but it's not as sturdy as its predecessor. There are some design flaws too. The on/off button, the cord retraction button and the buttons to increase or decrease power react to the slightest touch, which is pretty annoying when you're holding the vacuum cleaner in an upright position near your legs. The telescopic wand is supposed to click into place but tends to loosen while holding it. Also, I wish the cord wouldn't retract fully when I push the button just once. Often you just want to shorten the power cord, but that's not possible with the C3, or I haven't figured it out yet.

    • @VacuumCleanerMarket
      @VacuumCleanerMarket  6 лет назад

      Any Miele model can be switched to Charcoal or HEPA filtration. :). The models that currently come standard with the Charcoal filter pre-installed are the Cat and Dog models, as this filter is excellent for removing odors.
      The current models that come with Charcoal Filtration are: the C1 Classic Cat and Dog Canister, the C3 Complete Cat and Dog Canister, and the U1 Dynamic Cat and Dog Upright.
      Do you currently have a Miele you are looking to upgrade to a Charcoal filter? Or are you looking at a specific model? I can tell you which filter is compatible with either! Happy to help :) -Lauren

      Hi, you're correct. The new bagless version has a Lifetime HEPA filter, not a Charcoal filter. My apologies that I was not more specific. The bagged Cat and Dog canisters come with Activate Charcoal Filters, the Bagless Cat and Dog model comes with a Lifetime HEPA filter. :)

    • @winniedap00
      @winniedap00 6 лет назад

      Thanks, I just wonder why Miele decided not to put an odour filter on the new Cat&Dog cleaner. I thought the whole objective besides cleaning dust/hairs etc was to remove odours too. The Hepa filter will only remove fine dust particles, which is a great thing. The ideal situation would be Hepa +Odour filters for the Cat&Dog. Anyway thanks for your replies.

    • @VacuumCleanerMarket
      @VacuumCleanerMarket  6 лет назад

      I completely agree! I"m assuming it's due to the filters being lifetime and washable. It would be pretty hard to make that filter washable and have charcoal inside of it. The charcoal would get everywhere. So I think you need to pick one or the other. Reusable/washable or you have to toss it and purchase a new one.

    why can't you use the brush for hardwood?

    • @VacuumCleanerMarket
      @VacuumCleanerMarket  7 лет назад +8

      If you have delicate hardwood flooring the bristles could potentially damage the surface.
      The main reason that will effect most customers is because the spinning brush roll creates wind. The wind actually causes debris to be displaced everywhere.
      When you use a floor brush there is only inward suction. It also does a much better job around edges where debris collects on hard flooring.
      Please let us know if you have any other questions :)

    Now you need to be a rocket scientists to just buy a vacuum cleaner. I have all hard wood floors with a few area rugs that are of a high pile. So now I need to buy the most expensive vacuum meila has just to vacuum a few high pile area rugs. I m sure it's a good product but it's also geared towards making as much money as possible by adding all these different models because of attachment features. HEPA and seal vacuum s is a good feature, so is the suction. Make two models with all of the attachments. Period.

    • @VacuumCleanerMarket
      @VacuumCleanerMarket  5 лет назад +4

      Hi Ornella, from your flooring needs it sounds like you need an air driven model with a carpeting attachment with a spinning brush roll. I'd take a look at the C1 Compact Turbo Team, and the C3 Complete Calima. You could always purchase a model that didn't come with a spinning brush roll ( such as the Compact C1 Pure Suction, the Complete C2 Hard Floor, or the Complete C3 Alize). You can upgrade any Miele to HEPA filtration- all you have to do is purchase a HEPA filter if it doesn't come standard with one :) We promise it isn't too difficult. Miele makes many machines and models that will do all pile carpeting and all hard flooring- any Miele with an electric carpeting power head will accomplish that, but at a higher price point. I hope this helps. I'm here to help clarify anything as well :) -Lauren

      @VacuumCleanerMarket  6 лет назад

      Hi,
      Yes, it is a bit complicated. Miele wanted to make models for each flooring situation and filtration need. Then they also made their "premium line" that has its own set of features.
      What we like to do is start with the customers flooring needs and just start narrowing down the options that can fit their needs. After we have gone through the decision process, there are usually 2-3 models at different price points can fit their needs.
      From there, the customer just needs to select the model that best fits their budget.
      Please let us know if we can help you find the best one for you :)
