I love these trucks ... I had a 1950 with a 56 Buick engine and Trans and column..painted flat red and flat black..it was hot rodded in the 60's..I bought it in 1973..thanks for sharing this one..
For the life of me, I don’t understand the turds who down vote these videos. Great work as always. You get more done out in the shop in a week than a lot of us do in a year. Keep up the great content.

Just a guy and his dog having fun, love it. I grew up with one of these trucks, 1948 Ford F1, 6 cylinder std, stick on the floor, green with black fenders. Many is the time we went to town standing up in the back, 18 miles to town and we had fun, I'm still here 74 years later. Thanks for the memories. Hahahahaha

Hahahahaha!!! Awesome, Pablo wearing earmuffs and smiling!!!! Hopefully in a year or two... I will have to invite you down to my house in Florida (When I retire) to get my 46 Dodge running!!!!! You are amazing!
She a little rough around the edges….lol aren’t we all . I’ve worked on a lot of 48 Thur 52 F-1 and never ever gotten sick of them . I rebuilt a 52 with the 239 flat head about 12 years ago and drive it a lot in the summer and a 50 F1 that was rough ..into a hot rod / rat Rod not quite sure what it is . That at truck will make someone very happy and I’m glad I’m far away from you …no chance of me driving over and bring it home . Thanks for sharing Shawn aka Rusty Rods
Very entertaining as all of your videos. The pup enjoyed it too , ear protectors and all. Yes Mercury trucks are Canadian as well as Meteor cars. Thanks for sharing.
You Sir, are something else, the dog belongs to the scenes. You changes engines just if it is nothing, just having breakfest also the pictures from the drone ate super!
That's why you see so many rods with Chevy engines , they are almost a universal fit for any Chevy engine 6 cylinder and V8 all of them the parts are so interchangeable it's a shame forward didn't do that and I love FORD'S too
Your knowledge of putting different engines, gearboxes, starters, and bits together is amazing. I would have loved to be an apprentice working and learning from you (if i was 30 years younger) You are the a to z of car building Keep up the fantastic work sir
This is why I love channels like yours and coldwarmotors (both canadians!!). There's no old vehicle you can't put together. I mean, damn, dude! You had a truck with no engine, a completely unrelated engine in a shed, which you completed with letfover parts, in a couple of days, and you made a shifter and an gas pedal and away you went! Amazing! Cheers from Buenos Aires, Argentina!
Mega like. Its a Mercury.. Beautiful triming. Amazed how you put it together that fast. Got the knowledge! Thanks for sharing it. Lot of learning. Mega like!
That brings back some memories. My first hot rod was a 48 ford pickup truck. Pulled the flat head and installed a ford 390 4 speed from a 66 fairlane gt. I was 19 yrs old then. Many hot rods later I am 70 years old now and working on a 48 Mercury coupe.
These trucks were just a ford truck in the states. Don't remember so much chrome but this with the chrome is cool. My old man had one for about year. Brings back memories of the 60s for me. Excellent little video!
Even to people that were kids when these were starting to get older still love these my grandfather had a grain truck with a flathead that was like brand new that he sold one time on Christmas day and I remember it sit there idling all throughout supper and it was so smooth then I drove a 53 Ford they had various amounts of compression for years and each cylinder and it run 100 mph
But I had a 52 F5 stub nose cabover you would have liked to have had and I wish I had it still it was a water tanker vacuum controlled rear end two speed. The high and low lever was on the dashboard next to the choke and you really had to be fast to split shift it and it could be done
That Merc truck is growing on me. Chevy powered & has to be rare. I am 55 & have to say, that's the first Merc truck i've ever seen. & i've been to many a car show as my dad & uncle were car nuts. Awesome
I love the customized ear muffs For Pablo lol! I've been around cars most of my life my dad had a 48 Ford pick up with a 383 out of a police interceptor, a push button automatic out of a Crown Imperial and a 9" Out of a 69 Mercury cyclone 390. And it was painted Canary yellow. When you put that truck together brought back memories.
A friend of mine has a 48 Merc just like that one here in Wisconsin. He is not sure when it MIGRATED from Canada. He had a SBC in it for years, but 2 years ago he decided to go to a 93 Mustang 5.0 AOD set up, which is STILL NOT DONE! That is a GREAT STARTER TOY for some young Gearhead!
Don’t have time to watch this one just yet but gave it a thumbs up cause I trust your work🤔😁👍, I’ll watch at work around 2am eastern. But just the look of it deserves a 👍
Without doubt Brent... you my friend really put the M... In mechanic !! I've seen you do some things I would not have believed if I had not seen it with my own eyes !!! I was a diesel mechanic in the Navy for 4 years 1975-79 and I would work alongside you anytime!
I had one of them when I was 20, I`m now crowding my seventh decade. I think mine was a 49 merc original flathead 8 with 4speed stick one-ton pick-up. It had the same plywood farmer racks they must have come special order lol. I remember coming home from the hotel, Friday night after work with the boys I worked with., parked the truck, and headed to the outside john for a crap, it was winter time and the snow was deep, finished my job and headed to the house about halfway there the overload of alcohol struck I stumbled and fell down in the deep snow and passed out. At some point in time, my wife came out to check if I was still breathing, went back in the house, and came back out with a quilt and covered me up, Every time I see one of those trucks I think of that, that same woman bless her heart, passed away six years ago, just before our 45th anniversary.
Brent, did i just see you dust of the intake to see the chevy firing order ...lol , looks like a chevy impala shifter that i need ... now i know why you bring Pablo for rides, he's the drone pilot ...lol
Love it , My dad had a 50 ford when I was a kid , I loved that old truck. I bought a 50 ford about 25 years ago that looked almost identical to yours same color etc. I never got around to working on it so I gave it to a coworker as a retirement gift , I think it is still sitting under his barn shelter lol . The Mercury seems to have more chrome on it than the ford did. I may have to see about getting the 50 back from my friend if he is not going to work on it now that I have retired.
I'm a little late getting to this video. It's hard to keep up with you man. The '48 brings back a lot of good memories. I bought one off a guy in 1973. It was his baby. The only modification to it was that he installed a round face radio in it from a '55 Ford. I paid $250 for it. That was my only vehicle for 4 years. I drove it all over BC. Hauled fish from Vancouver in it, fruit from the Okanagan and went out on a Saturday night with it. I never let me down until one hot August day hauling a load of fruit over the Hope Princeton Hwy, and it could not get up Whipsaw Hill without overheating, as flatheads will do. After coasting back down, refilling the rad abot 3 times, it made it over the top, but not before cracking a piston. It still made it all the way home to Sooke. I bought a '54 Ford car for $25, dropped that motor in it and was good to go until I sold it. A great old truck.
Great truck!! I put a Lincoln 460/C6 and 9” in my ‘48 Ford F1. Awesome to see ya take it out for a boot around the yard. Keep up the great work!! Pablo is a trooper too, had me laughing!!
Man i love how you just get stuff done. I hate when one little thing i dont have just kills my motivation for working on it anymore. I guess yoir hoard really helps with that.

DOG buddy kisses while driving a cool old Mercury. How good does it get... great job!
Yeah the old Canadian Merc Truck. Sometimes opposites attract, like a Chev motor in a Mercury.
Pooch loved the new ride. 😎👍🇨🇦
Hell yea I love my 48 F1. But can't wait to watch this after work !!!
You just make it look too easy, I'd still be fighting motor mounts and you're already driving. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida 🌞
