I like how they wrote "damaged" on the door. Just in case someone might think it came that way from the factory.
I think it said damaged odo.. can't tell the proper mileage. Legal requirement?
I think it said damaged odometer!
LOL

I love that it says damaged on the door 🤣
I’m glad they let us know 🤣
Damaged odometer!
@@BudgetBuildz olá! Este carro no Brasil 🇧🇷 é o Ford Maverick .
A full restoration of this car would be insane
full no rat rod type thing do something like clear coat slaps some glass and new lights that would be killer
Just a new windshield, clear coat, and some rat seats and just drive it
Metal is fatigued. Chassis is done.
The metal has structurally changed because of the fire..you cant get sheet metal hot, it gets weakened and bends with your bare hands
I agree. If there is paint under the carpets, the chassis will be OK. Others like door posts, doors, roof will be weakened.
For something that's been burnt to a crisp, it sure has a strong will to live, and that exhaust note is music to the ears.
You guys aren’t afraid to take on anything!! Love it!

For me it’s more of a Liability issue if you was to ever sell the car and they wrecked it and got killed you could be sued and charged
That old Comet runs awesome considering the car was a total loss. I bet that was a sharp car prior to the fire. It's just amazing to me to see the tight bond you and your dad have. God Bless You Both and continued success with your channel
Looking forward to the wash, wax, and buff 😉
All those dents and rust should buff right out no worries.🙃
LOL
There's something about a burnt out car thats runs like this satisfying 🤩 greets from belgium !
i just love how you and your dad work together, I work on cars and other stuff with my son and its the best thing ever!!
The best thing about an old car over newer ones is .
All you need is spark ,fuel, and air, and it will run .
Great job getting Christines little brother running! Can't wait to see the next episode!
I'd love to see a full restoration!!
but is it possible? warped panels will create issues
22:10 and even blowing smoke-rings 🤣! Great job, thanks for sharing 👍
Very cool! I reckon the previous owner would be stoked to see (and hear) this beast come back to life!
That was truly amazing seeing the burnt corpse of a Comet come back to life. I’m hoping to one day return life to either a 1970 or 1971 Maverick. Love those cars. Keep up the awesome work gentlemen.
Put a new set of windows, new lights, necessary wiring, some interior work in it and clear coat the body to preserve the patina. This thing tells a story, a story of a warrior👍🏻🤘🏻
Nice to see an old Comet running and sounding so good love to see it put back together again 👍
man im thinkin the same thing
It's a miracle you got that engine to run. You guys can do anything!
That car needs to become a 24 hours of Lemons star! An actual SBF powered car that is worth $500! Already gutted for a cage too!
That’s a perfect idea!!! She’s healthy too 👌 Winning bid was $175 😬
@@BudgetBuildz Junkyard Diggs just got a Pinto & posted a video of his first event with it, A fantasy of many car people!
@@BudgetBuildzAye the motor and transmission is worth a few times that alone.
That's the best idea on here!
Glad to see you smiling through the whole video, your optimism is great.
Michael, your optimism and your attitude is outstanding. Best team together with your Dad. Great video and looking forward to get you driving this car for a few yards soon. Cheers Ulf
I started smelling burnt car while watching this video.
Haha 😅 That’s all I’ve smelled for 2 weeks…
Me too.
He smelled (smelt?) Burnt car while making this video lol
Same i think smella vision is already implemented in devices they just dont wanna tell people we already have it pre installed hahaha 😂
It's a smell you never forget.
Two of my first three cars were 1971 Mercury Comets. A sedan with the 302 V8, then a coupe with the 250 straight six cylinder. Fun cars. Underrated!
Now that's what I call some extreme patina, and the rest I think will buff right out. Way to go guys!
The sponsors are going to jump on that faster than Stephen Hawking can say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious..

LOL
I think he's on a galactic journey and won't be getting around to speaking to us anytime soon, but who knows....
you gotta save this old girl please?!!! she starts after all she's been through she deserves to be brought back all the way.
Hahaha, that distributer and wires looks like it came out of a happy meal!!!!!
Glad to see you and your dad getting that Maverick running. Motor sounds pretty healthy. She wants to go! Nice content
Send it to the sandblaster, epoxy prime it, then look for a donor car for interior and glass
Or dipped.
That looks like something Pole Barn Garage would fix up
Almost 200K subscribers, way to go.
I'm just dumbfounded! I have no words! You took a totally burned up Mercury Comet and got the engine to start!!! I saw it, watched you and your Dad do it, and I still cannot believe it!!! You and your Dad are a helluva set of mechanics!!!!
@@sheepwolf1st Did I SAY that they could walk on water? No I didn't ! I merely stated that I was amazed that they were able to get a car to run again after being so severely burned and damaged!!! That's ALL!!! MYOB!!!
Man this is such a great channel better than most stuff on TV.
she wanted to live!! shes a survivor alright.
This is cool, Im alike a teen watching popular mechanics n tv again with my dad back in the dad (rip)
It’s amazing to see the Comet phoenix, rising from the fire !! Imagine standing on the other side of a fence hearing that sound, cam and everything then walk around and be shocked and in disbelief!!! Great content soooo enjoy the Channel.
I want to congrat you and your father. For finding everywhere a gem into a rock. Like this engine. Please accept my respect for that.
Wow she is a testament to a car that still wants to live bless her 🙏
I hope this goes viral so we can find the owner
Would love to hear the saga that befell this car.snooky pa.
Burnt is an understatement. Even the tires melted off of it. I would like to know the back story on that.
That was somebody pride and joy, but like you stated that we hope the people were okay. The little car does no want to go quietly into the night, at least it's at a place that likes turning wrenches
Hard to believe it Started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome work getting it running, never thought it would…
When I first saw your crispy (literally) Comet, I thought, "No way." But once again you surprised us! Well done! Love the "get 'er done" attitude with you and your dad. Looking forward to the next one!
I'd call that a win. That car would make a good donor car to fix a rusted out one. 👍
You managed to get the VW Golf that was crushed by a tree and sitting in the woods for a long time running, so I don't think that you will have a problem here. Just a little bit of paint and it will be like brand new. 😁😁
Love the bluing on the front bumper from heat! That's what you call a real beater. Well Done!!!
You know wat this build remind me of? *diy gang* 's burned Hekcat & also *pole barn garage* Holy goat build
Im only 2 minutes in to the video and just have to say i can tell you are a great parent because he asked before he did anything but still had fun while doing it And heard everything you said with no distractions
Thats why we love old fords! They just run forever!
That alternator looks like its a go'er also.
Ive been looking for a comet for years now. Good to see they are still out there.
Great job! wow it ran! Don't paint it leave it as the "Crispy Comet"
I knew it would run, you guys are the car whisperers
Teck tip, Aussie farm trick. Get an old pair of stockings and twist them and use as a fan belt.
We’ll give that a go on the next one!!! 😃
That is a testament to the boss 302
Budget Builds - the automotive Necromancer, bringing the dead back to life. This thing is like Christine's lil' sister, lol. Or (to continue the movie references), something from Mad Max. She'd turn some heads at the Wasteland Weekend car show, that's for certain. You'd never, ever be allowed to return something like this to the road here in the UK, but if there's any possibility of getting this crispy Comet legal without spending a fortune, it would be fun to do. Imagine, driving along and suddenly seeing it looming in your rear-view!
Get a couple of sponsors, and resto-mod her with all new electronics. Digital dash, navigation, the works.
That's what TK calls " Crispy "
I'm usually not a fan of leaving cars unpainted, but this car in my opinion would look so amazing with just a couple coats of clear on it!
Another great video. Can't wait to see you buffing and polishing it lol. It shows how resilient motors can be. Thanks for taking a chance on this one, if you hadn't it would have been lost ever. Good to you and dad working together. Wishing you both much success. God bless you and your family.
You guy's are crazy but I love crazy. Thanks for sharing this awesome video. Can't esoteric for the next episode
Haha thanks!! 🤣🤣 Can’t wait to share the next video!!
Great Video and SCORE on the top loader. My Mom and Dad bought a Brand New Bright Red Comet GT 3 Speed on the floor In 1971 when I was 6 years old. I went with them to the Lincoln Mercury Dealer when they drove it home. I Loved that Comet and they gave it to me when I was 18! I Ran the Hell out of it for 10 years but like an idiot I let it get away. I am looking for another one or a good roller (maybe not quite as rough as yours!!) I have a 71 Mustang 302 4 Barrell engine and a 65 Mustang Top loader 4 speed with a Mr Gasket Verti-Gate shifter!! If You see one in better shape Let me know! Have a Great Day😊
Sweet can't believe that it started with very little work awesome
You guys are truly amazing!
What a shame it was burnt seems to have been a nice car, also hopefully who ever was in the fire was not hurt..😢
Excellent video Budget Buildz :) yes surprises me how that Comet car come back life after fire 🔥 damage to and looking forward more videos too soon watch on this project to!
Dude, this would make a great rat rod. Leave all the rust and just fix the motor and safety stuff. Badass!
Build it but leave that body... Add the safety stuff and drive it! Spectacular!!!
Give these boys a brick and they'll somehow get it running.
It would be amazing to see if you guys restored this car to it’s former glory! This one is from a time the U.S.A. were still be able to build real cars😬👍
Now that's what I call patina... 👍
This is going to be a fun project!
sounds and looks like "christine" when she limped back to the garage!damn, that's unbelievable guys, great stuff!
Firing that thing up was super impressive 👌
Dad, son and grandson they all look roughly the same age lol. God bless you all
How he says in the beginning An smoking deal 😂😂😂 no shit nice to see you brought your kid along on this adventure
Thank you for sharing and your APPRECIATION to your subscribers
I didn't have any doubts of the engine being salvageable, it was just a question of how long it sat with moisture inside. Looks like you got to this one in the nick of time!
Obviously, the smart thing to do would be to just yank the drivetrain and any other salvageable components, then scrap the burned hulk that was the body. Perhaps if you were ambitious, you could find another Comet with rusted out floors and use this car for donor metal. Yet I'll admit, it'll be really cool to see this car drive under its own power one last time. Looking forward to that video.
Why not look at doing a tube chassis and bolting the he old body on to it?
@@GTSW1FT Why? The metallurgy has been compromised to the point that the car will rot away within the span of five years, if that. The only real fix is to cut away the heat damaged metal and replace it outright. Simply welding in a roll cage to drive it around a handful of times before the body fully falls apart would be a wasted effort.
Don't forget to time the framistat modulator and align the Finnigan tension bearings. It wouldn't do to have such a cherry ride running less than perfectly.🤔
This retired Chevron Lube Oil Rep loves that you use that Hav 0 Leen motor oil.
Just come across you guys. Awesome, awesome, awesome dudes - love it when all the odds are stacked against it and guys like you prove it wrong! Crazy but so inspiring. What a beautiful car!
Got to be a resto now! Keep up the great work!👍😎
Very good Ford Tough!
THATS F--KING AWESOME......WAY 2 GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!!!!
really enjoy yer show! shared tp all my friends into shows like this.
I pulled a 350 from a burnt van once. The tbi had melted into a glob on the intake. That untouched long block ran like a champ with a carbureted intake, for years.
Yup... Call it Phoenix! Came back from the ashes!! Mint!!!
That's really cool just unbelievable great job
Amazing after burning it's start and sounds very healthy all best guys 👍🇲🇰
She'll buff out 😬 I saw this video and I had to watch it, kinda like seeing a wreck on the highway, you hope nobody got hurt but you can't help but look!
Man, I sure hope the people who owned that car see this. Pretty cool!
Nice color Burnt Orange
Junk Yard Mook has the “Spicy Nova,” now y’all have the “Fiery Comet.”
I think I had just as much fun watching as these two guys had doing it
Pretty slick 🏁
I’m so glad you enjoyed!!! 😊😊
Great job guys! To see this car actually running again and sounding really good. Keep up the great work. Thank you for sharing! Love the firebird too!
"Rusty and crusty old cars...." check and check. Faithfull to the idea of the channel. There is no to far gone for you..... Amazing
Sounds allot like my Foxbody at idle. Love that lope! Not the right car, but I'd name it Christine 👍
Good to see you guys were able to save it good job
Great video. I'm glad you posted. Keep them coming, thanks
Good job with this burnt car god speed bro 💕
Dude! I’m freaking impressed! I never thought that thing would come alive! You guy’s as always impressed me with your knowledge and skills! I’m so looking forward to see what you guy’s have planned for that beauty! It sure deserves to be restored!👌😎👍
Incredible job! I never thought it would run! Well done
