    Possibly one of the best lines of the whole franchise and the best description of "Rocky." "I saw you beat that man like I never saw no man get beat before, and the man... kept... coming... AFTER you. Now we don't need no man like that in our lives."

  • @x-man9473

    Most people don't understand that Apollo Creed is a showman. He just likes to hype up the fghts.
    Example
    >At the end of the first movie and recap at the beginning, he said there would be no rematch.
    >But when they were in front of cameras at the hospital, Creed immediately acts like he's about to fight him right then and there.
    >Then when they're alone at the hospital, Apollo gives Rocky his props. Admitting that he gave Rocky his best.

      Great observation! Creed is very conscious of his image and concerned about what others think of him.

    "YO ADRIAN, I DID IT!!!"
    Imagine the amount of lives changed, weights lifted, and miles ran because of this character.
    Rocky Balboa, a hero to those who were told they can't.

    Pauline was right Rocky was training half heartedly because Adrian wasn’t supporting him and he felt bad for doing something she didn’t want him to do,he never started to take it seriously until Adrian was onboard,Pauline was wrong how he went about it but was right in what he was saying.

    • @Johnny2Feathers
      @Johnny2Feathers Год назад +3

      Yea pretty much every reaction views Paulie in a way more negative light than he is. He’s a flawed character but not an antagonist by any means. Same can be said about Mickeys speech to Rocky in the church. It’s not that Mickey doesn’t care about Adrian .. it’s that the fight is set and Rocky isn’t ready. It can’t just be moved to whenever Rocky is ready. He’s not being insensitive he’s trying to motivate Rocky. Movies today lack these types of characters… both supporting and main. Movies now everyone is great and nobody has flaws. This is why movies today suck.

    • @x-man9473
      @x-man9473 Год назад +1

      @@Johnny2FeathersThe writers didn't do a good job giving him a favorable portrayal. They always have him saying things provocatively to the point where you can't even agree with him.

    I do find it funny that the bad guy loan shark in the previous film kept insulting Adrian by saying Rocky should take her to the zoo. Then in the sequel, he takes her to the zoo and that's where he proposes. 🤣

    • @Golgafrinchamdent
      @Golgafrinchamdent Год назад +2

      The loan shark wasn't the one insulting Adrian. That was his driver. The shark (Gazzo I think) has been a pretty consistant good guy. He gave Rocky $500 to train, he tried to advise him to invest his money, he offered him his old job after the fight, and always rooted for Rocky to win and have good things.

    I agree with you about Paulie, he's quite a despicable character. In fairness that was his point in the original script, the antithesis of Rocky to accentuate Rocky's qualities as a character. Some people say that he gets better in the later films but I think it's just because his later function in the scripts was comic relief. Only the sixth film shows any kind of character growth for Paulie and I'm not about to go into spoilers to illustrate what triggers that.
    This was the first Rocky film directed by Stallone, he would go on to direct Rocky III, Rocky IV and Rocky Balboa (Rocky VI). Rocky V was directed by the original director - John G. Avildsen - and tends to be most people's least favourite Rocky film. That wasn't Avildsen's fault, to be fair, it was also arguably not the fault of the script. There was studio interference that changed the ending (hate it when that happens).

    • @kai_masters
      @kai_masters  Год назад +1

      Thanks for all of that info! Some people have told me that Paulie isn’t a bad guy but I find he’s really abusive of Adrian, especially in the first film. I hope to see some character growth on his part but I guess I’ll need to wait awhile. 🙂

    So many stories....pro tips, sold his dog, butkus( proly named after the famous football player Dick Butkus), cuz he was broke and homeless. It's a True story retelling of the Ali tune up fight, before his rematch with Frazier for the world title! Ali fought Chuck Wepner and damn near got knocked out! Wrote the script in 2 weeks! Really a love story. Adrian is the sister in godfather!!😮 He was offered big money to sell the script, but not star in it. Stallone wouldn't do it. He eventually sold the script to ABC television. Henry winkler, his good friend, played The Fonz, on Happy Days. He found out ABC had the script. Happy Days was THE biggest show on TV. Henry went to the executives and said, if u don't give me the script, I leave the show. They gave it to him! He gave it back to Stallone. This movie won multiple Oscars, and even Ali got on stage with Stallone, when he was at the Oscars and said, "u stole this script from me!" In part 2, theres a few times when they actually hit each other pretty damn hard, and were pissed off at each other, and u can see it! He bought his dog back, after it became a hit! He wrote produced directed and choreographed most his rocky movies, and other movies he was in. He almost died in 4, because he purposely didn't choreograph his first 2 rounds. He wanted it to look like Drago and himself, were really feeling each other out, like real boxers. Drago(Dolph Lundgren) end up breaking his ribs, punctured a lung, and I think even his heart sac! Dolph has been also in his Expendable movies, and in real life has a couple of Masters/PhDs in engineering!😁😁 Drago wife, was actually married to Stallone!😮😮 They have beautiful daughters! Rizzo was in the first 2 godfather movies! A man named Irwin Winkler or Chartoff owns the rights to Rocky and always has. So Stallone only gets paid from them, as an actor writer director choreographer. The other guy has ALWAYS refused to do what's right, and sell the rights to Stallone, even though the jerk has made proly billions off of Rocky! Spider Rico, the first guy he fights here, works for him in Rocky Balboa or Creed. So does the girl that says, screw u creepo! The guys singing outside by the fire barrel in 1 and 2, Frank Stallone! In Rocky 3, bad guy was a former bouncer who won a TV tough man who! Went on to star in a long running TV show! Adrian is Talia Shire, a member of Hollywood royalty, the Coppola family! Francis Ford, Sophia and Nicholas Cage!😮😮😮!!! Drago and wife return in Creed 2! The end still shots in rocky movies are always a classic!!

      Bridget Nielsen who played Draco’s wife in Rocky 4 is not the mother of Sly’s kids. He has 2 sons by his 1st wife (1 is autistic and lives w/his mother the 2nd Sage who played his son in Rocky 5 died about 5 yrs ago) his current wife Jennifer Flavin is the mother of his 3 adult daughters. And yes Dolph (Drago) hit him so hard in the chest that the sac around his heart filled w/fluids. Sly was in ICU for 9 days and had a priest read him last rights cause he was that close. There are 3 judges that keep their own score of the fight. If all three score the same boxer with more points its a unanimous decision. If two judges score 1 fighter winning and the other judge scores the other fighter its a split decision (2 against 1). There are other variations like 1 judge for Apollo, 1 judge for Rocky and the 3rd judge calls it even then its a split draw. The title holder would retain the title in all draw scenarios and only if there is a decision in favour of the challenger would the title change hands.
