Man, Adef's experience hosting his GDQ hotfix show really shine through when he's on commentary. Plugging donos, making sure things are explained to new viewers, and playing off the other host were all super on-point.
I honestly think that new center squares should be a weekly thing during the season. Like you have a list of 4-6 center squares that gets refreshed each week just to keep the players on their toes, without disrupting ALL their practice
That sounds nice, but it would require so many squares and I want them to be good, too! If they sacrifice a few “normal” squares the rest of the board will be too similar each game, I don’t think that’s worth it.
Spoilers This match was insane. I genuinely believe that the only people that can or could beat CBD this season are blanxz and NPT and I'm glad I was half right, even though npt lost he played cbd really well. the second game from this set was insane, although I think it was only close because both players did not push their lines. Also the huge time loss on sorcery only for blanxz, regardless really well played from both players. Excited to see the finals, and as always... Nice shirt domo
Great match! Something to consider for finals/next season VODs is blank space at the end so the length of the video isn't a spoiler. It's not such a big deal for a Bo1 but for a Bo3 it's likely to be very clear when the person who wins game one also wins game two.
So if the grand finals goes the distance, the final custom center square needs to be "Kill promised consort Radhan, hitless, with a +0 weapon, hand to hand" or something absurd like that.
@@MrRusty103 It's no less likely than usual for a bingo to happen, and unless the game is 12-12, they would absolutely not waste time on a square like that.
@@dudeimashark exactly, and I haven't watched every match ever, but there aren't usually bingos between high end players. Although it is true they would have to get it down to the last square to force it, so the rece would have to stay close enough for that.
Adef is a great commentator. More of this guy. Also it might be fun to have a total of 3 casters so there’s never any downtime in conversation and some different chemistry thrown into the mix.
Such an amazing match, really great semi-final! I have to shout-out Adef’s commentary, so good! Well played by both players, fun snipes and risky plays, showed really great skill! I loved the centre squares, I want more of that! Finally, I haven’t seen the live games but I feel like this was the finale to me. No shade on the other semi-finalists but this was the game I’ve been looking forward to!
Spoilers Such an insane match. Really great decision making from Blanxz in both matches. Blanxz is just so freaking fast, man. It's insane the way he's able to grab so much early game and still have equal or more map progress. He definitely plays a little greedy and it bit him in a few games this season, but when it works he seems nigh on unbeatable. I also feel like Blanxz more than anyone has shown the power of the Backhand Blades this season. It's not as comfy early game but once you get a few regular/Scadu levels the way it scales - especially on a board like the second game with a lot of late game - makes it the obvious choice imo. CBD also making some great plays himself, a few incidents that may have turned the match, but he's just been so consistent both with his mechanical play and decision making all year, I'm not surprised both games were as close as they were. Two absolute top tier competitors. Edit: Also, not a bingus video without doubled audio in the interview. Nice shirt, btw Domo.
I'd say CBD has showcased backhand blades the best. since he like....... used them in near every match and killed bosses so damn fast with occult affinity on it (later on switching to lightning since apparently mid to mid-late game it becomes better dmg wise)
Anyone have any tips for avoiding spoilers for the next season? I did manage to watch this VOD on twitch, but didn’t have the time to watch the other semi finals , because I was already spoiled who played in the 3rd place match and who won it. :(
This was bound to happen, unbeaten runs rarely ever go all the way to completion. Losses help prepare mentally for pressure situations, unfortunate for CBD but he played well Also, I was shitting on Blanxz in his very first game and here he is, into the finals, I've never been so glad to have been proved wrong.
In match 2, why couldn't CBD get sorcery only on Ancient Dragon Man? Adef and Domo were wondering who else he could possibly do the sorcery square with while he was fighting ADM. Am I missing something?
spoiler god that punt was so sad, it's okay to ignore middle square but it was super obvious you needed to shut down the diagonal and he had almost 7 mins priority on shutting down that diagonal that he just ignored to do a bunch of random stuff that ended up not mattering.
Spoilers: The reason we see so little bingos right now, is not because the players are super skilled, but because noone is pushing lines. They always play Majority and don't take free Ws that just lie around. Like even if CBD didn't want to do the Sorceries then go do column one and not Chief Bloodfiend like ??????

I think he is an English major or something. so he has good speaking skills.
Adef is great co-commentator
Dom's gasp and forehead smack realising he's playing double audio in the interview was soo funny
The little smirk on his face after turning off the double audio was so goddamn funny
Oh, that's why he did it :3
Just around five minutes into the interview, when the chat caught up and let him know :D

that bird incident fucked NPT up. he would've won otherwise. felt so bad since NPT was getting a crazy comeback.
A great no-hit runner against a top-tier speedrunner. This is literally "when unstoppable force meets an immovable object".

Next year 5x5 bingo cube. We have the technology
This series is very entertaining but honestly, it's the commentary that makes it for me.
