The build is good if you against 1vs1 and bosses but against an entire mob, dodge is still mandatory.
the builds weaknesses are low damage, grabs, and attacks from behind, above and under. other than those youre gucci.

@@user-xv7dl4hn1d It works insanely well on Radahn. First phase does almost exclusively physical damage, so you don't take chip damage from blocking. In the second phase if you stand close to him the beams from his attacks miss entirely on half of his swings. You can swap to the new black steel shield with a sacred infusion to completely block his giant death beams. He doesn't have nearly as many attacks that send him spinning behind you like other bosses so the shield poke is completely safe during his combos. Shield poke strats absolutely ruin that boss and I love it.

There's already a dude who won against Consort Radahn with just parry and carian retalition. Shield in this game are so fckng OP that only few people capitalizes it.
They were intended to be as they are not fashionable. The devs gave us all the hint when they focused so much on parrying in the tutorial cave
I think more than a few, I started off Elden's launch as Sorc, went to Melee to beat the base game. For the DLC after dying so fast I went Sword and Board, because with a high enough Endur it's easy to put the shield away to use 2H abilities. Boss is going stupid, do quick equip shield to fight. Boss chillls the fuck out, put the shield away for more damage.

Yeah, but at that point you're playing a build you don't want to play, using armor you don't want to use, using a weapon you don't want to use, using a playstyle you don't find fun, might as well not play the game since it's the game you don't want to play.

Mixed reviews is hilarious to me, people giving negative reviews because its too hard when thats what the series is known for.

Most reddit and steam post are about that is ok to use summons, op builds. Even here people praising that build because it make game easier.
That kinda hypocrite, what is a point to make a hard game when most of the players just use the most broken tools in the game.
Wouldn't be better if Elden Ring rely entiry on skills like in previous FS games where you didn't had access to OP builds and people treated summons as last resort.
@@chc2650THANK YOU. Elden ring got off easy as the easiest and most rewarding game in the entire souls like series. Open world with the ability to use npc AND spirit summons, while utilizing more powerful spells and weapons than we have ever had, on top of new gameplay mechanics. We needed bosses hard enough to match what we wer given. Sadly some boring builds are strong (like the one asmon used). However everyone can do their own thing I am not gonna judge people that use these builds, but the feeling of not using one is far more rewarding. Gl tarnished!

I still dont get why people are whining about this dlc. Elden Ring gives us so many different tools to use against bosses. Asmon just found out an effective yet braindead way. What's to say other people havent? You can inflict scarlet rot on alot of bosses here and stall them and all you need is crafting pots for that. Sure it aint a honorable way of winning but a win is still a win. And the game gives you summons aswell.
Mage/Incant builds are like 80% figuring out which type of magic the boss is weak to. For example the Putrecent Knight is so weak to flame incants. Almost all dragons die so fast to Lightning/Dragon Lightning incants.

Nah, difficulty denotes the need for skill. You don't really need skill to beat Elden Ring bosses. Just time and repetition. Personally I think it's much more skillfull to figure out a way around that waste of time and energy. Then again I don't tie my self worth to the "Cred" you get from defeating Elden Ring bosses. Somehow when you think about it that way, people like you become pathetic and sad.

If you play games for "Cred" you really shouldnt be playing at all, It's just typical success fulfillment you get from most other games/achievements. Though you should play the game how you want to, gate keeping a game is weird af.

I knew the entire time I could poison armament the blood fork the ogres drop into a S scaling occult weapon the entire time but opted not to so I actually had a game to play, I only busted it out on bayle due to a lack of dancing in that fight.
It's by no means skillful to find something to exploit, every single person who prefers the dance gameplay already knows how to exploit the game because we've been firing arrows at dragon tails ever since Demon Souls.
Please stop talking like you know anything about this genre or the people who play it, you're new, take your licks in silence please.

Fromsoft games are made for people who are patient and uses their head to memorize & experiment to solve problems in-game. (Ever since Kings Field)
Making use of every tool (mechanics, equipment, environment & etc) provided to them by the game and experiment of it all.

Not thinking or going braindead at the start won't help any players.
Thus, *"SKILL ISSUE"*
Asmon created a solution/build to solve the problem and it worked.
It won't be long till others will create other solutions/builds to solve the problems in the DLC.
Did he create the build himself by trial and error or did someone just tell him what to do though? Like, I am not hating on the build, but considering he was so done with the game, I can't imagine he was actually trying out different strategies at this point and found it. Which again begs the question why he is the guy that is allowed to shit on people like journalists when he can't figure it out himself.

There's a crap ton builds anyone can use prior to the DLC.
It's just a matter of time that someone tries to make one of those builds work or optimize any of it for the DLC
Asmon made the Tank Counter build work on the DLC's PvE.
I doubt it would work on PvP though.

But the fact that you wrote all this while avoiding the main question already tells me all I need to know. Asmongold was actually quitting Elden Ring because it was too hard and then got told a build that would work really well, so he came back. All that while constantly trashing other people for asking for an easy mode. Yeah, that's exactly the kind of irony I would expect from this guy. I mean, the dude makes most of his money by stealing other people's content, so why would I be surprised he can't even come up with his own build?

Just incase it's read wrong, I don't care what build he uses. Use what you want, this build tho is undeniably unintentional. The ceo even said the intention Is to be beaten but learn and eventually overcome, I highly doubt he meant to use this resort tho. Again play how you want but i wouldn't be suprised if this saw a nerf like how moonveil did, its definitely not intentional.

Wow, so Asmon finally discovered shields. He's REALLY gonna get his mind blown when he discovers the Scholar's Shield spell.
He needs to react to the Radahn fight, dude judt face tanks all of it and reached phase 2 on his first try.
They he proceeds to beat the whole boss in like 35 minutes total
Aoe attacks and multiple little guys at once is the main downfall of the build but in the open world you can just take armor off so you dont fat roll
i just swap to a weapon like Euphoria that can just send an entire pack of mobs back to the lands between.
As far as I know there are only three AoE attacks in the entire DLC that are actually unblockable. The spears at the end of that one Messmer combo that come out of the floor, the final moon on that one dual sword Carian knight boss (The first two are blockable, but the last one will knock you into the air, and the meteor crash during the final boss. All other AoE attacks can be blocked as long as you are facing the enemy using them. Yes, even the giant beam of light spell. Yes, even if the beam is behind you when it goes off. I don't know why it works that way, but it does.

Whenever I get frustrated, out comes the fingerprint shield, lol. Usually I use the special power on the falling star jaw weapon though. Some bosses are too fast, but I can take out most things that way.
I made a shield build after watching Asmon and it’s actually really fun. Using a bleed spear though. All you do is hold shield and spam R1 lol.

Another overpowered build is using Jumps and Jump attacks instead of dodging or using Summons
I had the same experience with ER, just got bored grinding bosses, never felt satisfying beating em. I miss the exploration and feeling of surprise never knowing what's around the next corner like in the old souls games.

Haha, found early in dlc a shield named "grünspanschild" its also so strong i could radahn easy block without losing stamina, in comination with a rapier u can attack while blocking.
is he maybe using that new tear? the one that basically auto riposte if you hit the block right before an attack.

When I fought against the Hippo in the Shadowkeep I was like yeah lets turn this game into Ds1 and it worked for me so yeah going the old way is the play

The fact that his build wasn't even using the most optimal talismans and armor for mesmer is so funny. Imo thrusting swords or spears with fingerprint is still much better, but counters are also very decent
Shields are a big deal in Elden Ring the devs went out of their way to make some mobs and bosses more spammy since shields were not needed at all in Dark Souls 3. They were also TERRIBLE
yeah, ppl dont realize a lot of bosses that chain attacks will last long enough in animation, that makes you dodge into small windows of opportunity. Just a quick block or jump on the attack end chain, and you can immediately start whaling at them. Jumping is something every one forgets they can use to dodge, me included.
Yeah bro shields were horrible in DS3. I totally didn't use one the entire game. 👀

Is a simple mechanism, block/ counter
yeah fingerprint shield has been the thing forever. There are builds that use two of them even. And you can roll with it if you level high enough. also, to make this even closer to meta, he would use a thrusting weapon like lance or naganita so that he never has to ever stop holding block even while attacking, and blood infused ashes of war bloodhound step to completely nullify any of the other possible attacks in the game that could potentially damage you, like the super wide aoe spells that damage you thorugh the shield block, you just spam bloodhound step instead of using roll dodges it has a much higher I-frame for moments of invincibility., just bloodhound step spam until the attack is over or until you are out of all the fire on the ground and on you, and you literally take 0 dmg. yep. just spam it. 0 harm, you walk through fire lazer beems and anything else you can imagine. theres a reason why bloodhound step and this shield/lance builds were used by everyone. idk if its nerfed now but its the actual top meta build during the prime days of people doing the crazy ng+7 and shit where you could only take 2 or 3 hits even from the smallest mobs. the only second best builds would be some of the crazy bleed damage builds ive tried before that stack jump hits while dual wielding fast weapons and blood dmg, but those are far more risky and skill intensive glass cannon builds. the meta is to stack damage reduction and bonus attack power proc items and consumables and just be unkillable, while also rolling super big damage with all the atk power procs, bleed and also ice. you get a 2nd weapon cold infused, proc ice on them and while they are icy they take 20% extra damage. then there is the varres white mask that is the BIS helm, it gives you 15% atk power, then the talisman that gives you 20% atk power when u bleed, and another talisman gives your attack skills another 15% atk power. and idk what else im missing but they are all multiplicative, not additive, but multiplicative, huge boosts in dps per proc. so once you get the bleed proc, ice proc, and w.e else procs and atk power procs going you will be doing like 2k to 3k regular hits and the special attacks will be doing like 5k 7k. a moonveil +25 regular attack I think is like 120 200. imagine how much faster youd be killn shit compared to a noob moonveil player. its like literally 10x 15x faster and easier than any builds that dont stack +atk power procs and damage reduction. for damage reduction, look it up there are multiple sources of flat damage reduction through gear, spells incantations food buffs and there is even a talisman that gives you 20% DR ez... just get to 100% DR and you will take 0 damage. although collecting 100% DR I believe is very impossible to do.

I'm getting through it pretty swiftly with my strength, Heavy armor and faith build.

I spent 5 hours and about 40ish attempts to beat Messmer. Insane fight
Trust me when I say this
Shields and counter attacks were an addition to make the game more mainstream and easy.
And hell the stance damage is mind boggling with counter attacks.
If you've got the patience , shields and counter attacks with some good timing can take down almost any boss.
For my easy mode, i just use my mimic with both of us wielding double bleed antspur rapier. Eventually, we punished Messmer and i was laughing hysterically.
Watched this live. Can confirm many bosses were killed first try. Some second or 3rd try... 20 mins to kill Final Boss...
For anyone getting two shot, you can stop that from happening with any build. Just make sure to have at least 55 vigor, get the phys dmg reduction talisman from the halig tree and get the phys dmg reduction wonderphysic tear from calid tree giant. You will no longer be 2 shot.

After a very rough start he changed his build and statistic to become more tanky. It's not just him though that did that. I don't think is funny to play like that but definetly works.

Sure this works, but there are faster and just as reliable ways, like Bloody Great Stars with Wild Strikes and an Iron Jar Aromatic.

So I made a similar build but with a thrusting spear and you literally stab around your shield and never let go of block....... its skill level 0 but it is extremely effective
