My 02 Chevy Suburban has 221,000+ miles on it and still runs like a champ. Have a small issue here and there, but for most part, it's a great truck. The only reason he got rid of it was because of the amount of rust. I think Chevy Suburbans are great vehicles to own. Gas can be costly, but still.

Three years ago we bought a 2010 Suburban. Loved it! Thought we were going to have it for a long time. Miles at purchase was 98,000 and we put about 30,000 miles on it while we owned it. This past November (2019) it had major engine failure. We will give Suburban another try, maybe we got a bad one, but I am just curious if anyone else has had this problem with the 2010 Suburban? Also, the dash cracked..
2000 & up chevy dashes crack. It's a known issue and most all dashes begin to crack in front of the passenger side airbag. Most will continue to crack in various places within a year. Expensive to replace entire dash so most owners use a cover. If replaced, pray the installer knows what they are doing. If not, they'll jack up the interior of vehicle leaving you with costly interior damage repairs.
I have a 2004 Ford expedition that has 340k 5.4 I did put in A new oil pump, timing chain, new coils and water pump and it runs just like A new engine, and the body and intirore still looks good!! Dude!! You are right on time with this - I am looking for a big ol' honkin SUV but don't want a 2nd mortgage, err, $70K car payment. Thank you! Love your videos.
If your oil pressure just dropped, replace the OIL PUMP. Do you have any tapping noise from the lifters, if so, get the oil pump and replace it with a high output pump. My tapping lasted about a min. Then I was driving down the highway and 2 hrs later loud noises coming from the oil pan. Save your engine by doing that.
I have a 1997 GMC Safari mini van with 228,000.miles on it. I replaced the oil and filter every 1500 miles, I use Pennzoil 10w 30. In the winter, 5w 30. No reason for my oil pump to fail as it seized the motor during my 2 hr travel and I never made it to my destination. Who knew my oil pump failed causing engine seizure.

I own a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali XL current is 360,000 kms. Also note if you have transmission problems isn't necessarily a rebuild. I found out mine was a valvetrain rebuild kit. The transgo.
GM didnt produce a 6.8 liter v8, it was a 6.0 but they did make an 8.1 for the 2500 suburbans which is what ive got and they outpull the excursions with the 7.3 powerstroke
In my opinion the Expedition is one of the best vehicles ever made by Ford. I tend to prefer the 1st generation body style, it’s got both a modern yet somewhat “retro” look and I’ve actually received unsolicited compliments on mine.
The Chevy Suburban is known to be a favorite of Mexican “immigrants” in the U.S. I once read a true story about an American guy in California who’s Suburban was stolen. About six months later, while on a visit to Tijuana, he unexpectedly spotted it - it was being used as an everyday car by the Tijuana police.
I had a expedition with misfire problems. As much as I loved that truck, I will NEVER buy another Ford SUV. It drove me mad trying to fix it. In the end I sold it for scrap. Still pissed off and it's been years.
ElBrwn Could it have been a spark plug issue? The spark plugs in the earlier Expeditions are notoriously a pita to remove, not sure if Ford improved their accessibility in later versions.
@@hayesman76 sparks were replaced with one piece plugs to avoid breaking in cylinder head. Also all coils were replaced. And some injectors. Our bought new 2000 7.3 Ford Excursion 4X4 diesel, just turned 200,000 miles. It starts, runs, drives, stops LIKE NEW! Ca. veh with no rust. I maintained it "By the Book" OR BETTER, since DAY 1! I Added a diesel fuel "Lubricity" additive at every fill up. (Diesel fuel has had it's lube content, reduced every few years, for decades). Transmission fluid& filter change EVERY 30,000 miles. NOTHING like travelling in an 8000 pound tank, sitting high up.
I have a 2014 Ford Expedition EL. 101K miles. would love for it to get to 300K.
I have 2012 EL and so it’s at 150010 miles and still going strong. Synthetic oil and replaced plugs along with standard maintenance.
I have a 2000 ford excursion 6.8 v10 with 218,000 miles and still runnin!
Same but mine has 194k. Do you still have the original trans?
@@andrewohanian5132 yup! All original, besides modified exhaust lol thinking about doing a 12 valve cummins swap. Or just rebuilding the engine and trans and they sell super chargers for this engine aswell, so im not sure exatcly which route i wanna go yet
@@mattburke5356 Cummins swap babaay! I'm thinking of putting a manual transmission zf6 in it while it's out
@@nephron9924 that would be bad ass, i found a whole kit for the 12 valve conversion for my ex including a plug and pkay to tune the tranny to correct its shift points for the 12 valve. Now they want 3800 for the kit but hey this is gonna be my truck for a llloooonnnngggggg time so itll be worth it
2006 sequoia with 330k miles. Still beasting in the rocky mountains of colorado. Only changed alternator once. Just regular oil change.
2001 GMC Yukon XL 5.3 with 379k + 2nd tranny. Oil? Castro’s HM synthetic blend 10W-40. ATL vehicle with zero rust.

Work with an older gentleman that has an F150, 2000ish year model and it has over 475k miles.
Hello Fresh With a rebuilt engine and trans.

I had a spark plug pop out on my 99 Expedition. No other major problems. Had to replace some lines due to rust but it lived in Chicago.
2001 6.8 excursion Bought new, stored winters, loaded, just turned 50k. It’s my summer travel rig. And it is a great highway ride. Best modification was adding a rear sway bar and train horns
I have a 2008 Nissan Armada with 270K. Transmission went out around 230k. That's was the biggest issue. Other than that, we love it. Very smooth ride.
2003 ford expedition eddie bauer, 210,000 miles. Got its 1st tune up at 200,000. Oil changes (with full syn) are the key to a long life
My 2003 F-350 Super Duty 7.3 litre has 750,000 on it and is used everyday and will go for years more. i love it!!
golden videos ! awesome info for someone in a search for a good old SUV :) !!

I have a '99 Ford Explorer V85.0L Eddie Bauer. Lived in CA, CO and now TX. Currently at 326k miles. Has developed a timing cover gasket leak issue and just replaced the original fuel pump. Now looking for new-to-me vehicle. :-)
I have 2000 for excursion 199,000 miles and still going and my husband has a 2003 excursion with 245,000 miles and still going strong
I've got a 04 expedition. 200,000 miles. Got it rust free for $3000.00. I love it. It's built on the same frame as the F-150. I'm putting a few thousand into it before I put it on the road. It's going to be my weekend off road toy. Paint next year. Well worth it. It will look and run like new.
I have a loaded 2003 Z71 4x4 Suburban 222000 miles no accidents 2 owner for sale 3995. Here in Utah
1999 Ford Expedition 228000 miles still going strong . Recently Had to get full tune up with coil replacement, o2 sensor, water intake tube, ball joint, wheel bearing assembly, had to get heat and back door hatch fixed and regular oil change and tires, also I have to take the hydraulic system out and put regular springs. Even though it might seem like a lot I’ve had this car for 13 years but it’s still runs great 😌
Please do an Adventure motorcycle video!
I have an 08 suburban w 225,000 miles. Should I be worried and looking for another one? 🤔
My 1998 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Eddie 4x4 5.4 liter has 240,000 original motor and transmission. 7 years and about $5k in new exhaust system, front end, shocks and ac compressor so far.
2000 Lincoln Navigator 209000 miles. Bought it with 207000 runs flawless hope I can get a lot more.

I have 2003 Tahoe with 220,000 miles- love it! Speedometer has been out for 2 years though
2003 Suburban here.
Brake lines rusted away. Fuel gusge no worky. I just watched a video about a possible ground wire that breaks...that causes dash issues.
He'll sir,I am your new subscriber and njoy your channel.can you give me your thoughts about long term reliability for ford expedition timberline 3.5 liters twin turbo v6 ecoboost please ??
The 2011 to 2014 Suburban’s are bulletproof, all the factory service bulletin defect parts were fixed by 2011. 2015 they changed the vehicle again and had issues.
Good video man, I have an 03 Suburban as well with 215,xxx on it and I bought it with 150,xxx and it has been the best 5 grand I have ever spent!! Thanks again for giving me another good channel to sub to!!
Awesome! I have an 03 suburban as well. Great truck! Thanks for the sub. Bill
My 02 Chevy Suburban has 221,000+ miles on it and still runs like a champ. Have a small issue here and there, but for most part, it's a great truck. My cousin's friend's dad had an 03 Chevy Suburban that he bought brand new a few weeks after new year of 2003 and that truck had almost 300,000 miles on the same motor and transmission by the time he sold it in 2019. The only reason he got rid of it was because of the amount of rust. I think Chevy Suburbans are great vehicles to own. Gas can be costly, but still.
320,000 on my 2001 Chevy Suburban 5.3 and 180,000 on my 2003 Ford Excursion. I still am blow away every time I start the Chevy and it starts and purs just like it was new. Good videos and stats as I research buying a used Toyota Highlander. I like CR, but the stats you give are even more helpful.
Pushing 287,000 on my 2003 Ford Expedition. Great vehicle!
1999 Ford Expedition 5.4 2 valve triton 292,500 miles and runs like a Champ! Perfect condition! Love my Expo!
U forgot to mention some flaws on the GM 5.3.... fuel pumps, head gaskets, lifters, transmission 4l60e slips crazy
I didn't know that ....thanks.
My 08 Nav has 19k miles on it. I'm wondering if I should get rid of it or keep it. The kids love it.
Kids are expensive enough already lol. Dont let them mess up a wise investment. The nav will prolly last a while longer though. But you should probably keep an eye out to find one of these good models with like 100k and keep that till the kids can drive themselves haha
@@fudgepuppy9683 Well I meant 198k miles. I traded it in for a CTS. LOL
My 05 Tahoe has 304,000 and my coworkers 03 Yukon has 595,00 we both work at a Chevy Cadillac dealer sooooo I guess maintenance options are on our side lol

Here in Latin America, Toyotas are built like TANKS especially the Land Cruisers 200 series, the Land Cruiser 76 and 79 series, Land Cruiser PRADO and also very popular here in my country (Dominican Republic) the medium size pick up truck the TOYOTA HILUX.
Wonder why they don't sell those here?
I have a 1999 Suburban 4x4 with 220,000 miles. Have had to do a lot of upkeep, but with that it drives tight on the freeway and I gladly take my family hours back in the woods to camp and hunt.
My truck is a 2007 lincoln navigator 5.4l v8. Love that truck I will never get rid of it. That's just my opinion. My next favorite truck is the ford excursion 6.0 powerstroke turbo diesel v8.
Quick question, do you still own your navigator, I'm interested in buying one but I'm iffy about the millage 210k 😬, thanks in advance

2004 Yukon Denali XL 308,150. Big Bertha still rolling strong. Regular oil changes.
I have a 2005 Armada that currently has a little over 210k and as far as quality everything still works great. It’s one with all the options from rear tv’s, navigation and 4wd. It drives great the only issue is that it burns about a quart of oil every 5-600 miles. I also have a 04 Z71 Tahoe with the 5.3 that had 247k and is still going strong. I daily drive a 2008 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 LS3 motor that has about 215k on it but looks and drives like brand new.
which one is fastest?
Three years ago we bought a 2010 Suburban. Loved it! Thought we were going to have it for a long time. Miles at purchase was 98,000 and we put about 30,000 miles on it while we owned it. This past November (2019) it had major engine failure. We will give Suburban another try, maybe we got a bad one, but I am just curious if anyone else has had this problem with the 2010 Suburban? Also, the dash cracked..
Sorry to hear. Thank you for sharing.
Early 2010s Suburbans are known to have bad cheap interior from what I read
And I hope to get another 100k out of it and with the milage it has I was offered 4k for it and everything thing works good! And over the years it has always had proper maintenance!!
I have a 2002 Excursion with 317k. Runs like a top. It has the smaller V8.
224 on my 05 Sequoia and running strong 💪
Dude!! You are right on time with this - I am looking for a big ol' honkin SUV but don't want a 2nd mortgage, err, $70K car payment. Thank you! Love your videos.
Excursion, alot of aftermarket, and modular parts for em i love mine
If your oil pressure just dropped, replace the OIL PUMP. Do you have any tapping noise from the lifters, if so, get the oil pump and replace it with a high output pump. My tapping lasted about a min. Then I was driving down the highway and 2 hrs later loud noises coming from the oil pan. Save your engine by doing that.
Thanks for this. I had my mechanic check it and it was just a bad gauge.
Still, replace your oil pump. Im not sure what engine oil you use, but think of it as replacing it now, than to have to replace the entire engine.
My 96 Toyota landcruiser is still kicking ass. Inline 6 cylinder 4.5L engine is a legend worldwide.
Fer Wasg lol 😂
My brother-in-law's, '07 Nissan Armada has 188,000 and it's running strong. Only thing so far are the rear shocks. He has to replace them. He took it to Denver and back from Washington state with no hiccups.
My parents had a 2003 Tahoe 3 years ago. It had 230,000 miles but the engine died, that was a sad day since it stopped in the middle of the road & my mother had to slowly bring it up a hill. But I got myself a 04 yukon xl and let me tell you it is a fun place to be in with friends. There’s enough room to relax. Plus the speakers are very loud :).
2004 Chev Suburban Z71, 333,000 right now. Runs great. Original engine and transmission. Bought it in Florida 6 years ago with 216,000. It's been in Michigan every since. Love it.
My dad has a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban LT 2WD that he bought brand new in February of 2004 and he drives this Suburban every single day, it has been in California its entire life, the current mileage on it is at least 360,000 miles, most of the things in it are original except for the driver's side mirror, the alternator, the driver's side seat, the DVD Player, the glass for the driver side barn door, the factory alarm system, a key fob for a 2000-2002 GM vehicle, and the door panels, the spare tire was used twice, and it hasn't towed a trailer at all, the radio in it is also original and it was hardly used, only 2 hub caps on the driver's side went missing, the steering wheel is original but the controls on it were not really used, the alarm system in it was replaced because the day that my dad attempted to start it, the alarm would go off, but this car is still running strong
In your opinion what are the top 5 things to look at before buying an Excursion 6.8 V10 with 165,000 miles??? Great review by the way 👏👍👌
The highest mileage GMT-800 Suburban I found was a black 2004 Chevrolet Suburban Z71 with almost 440,000 miles
2007 dodge durango sxt.117k miles and climbing. normal repairs other then the purge valve vacuum hoses and the abs module
The Lincoln Navigator version I have (2013) also great
I had a expedition with misfire problems. As much as I loved that truck, I will NEVER buy another Ford SUV. It drove me mad trying to fix it. In the end I sold it for scrap. Still pissed off and it's been years.

Could it have been a spark plug issue? The spark plugs in the earlier Expeditions are notoriously a pita to remove, not sure if Ford improved their accessibility in later versions.
@@hayesman76 sparks were replaced with one piece plugs to avoid breaking in cylinder head. Also all coils were replaced. And some injectors. But I went as deep as taking off the plastic upper intake manifold off and noticed melted plastic on cylinder 3 and 4. Bought another manifold and replaced it. Still ran rough. That's when I gave up.
We have 3 so far. A 1999 K2500 5.7LV8 Suburban with 235,000 miles and still going well, a 2008 Taurus X SEL AWD with 210,000 miles and a 1995 K1500 Z71 GMC PU with 337,000 miles. All still have their original motors and drive train
Isn't the expedition a newer model and therefore will not have racked up as many miles? Or did the excursion just fade out in favor of the expedition.
Nissan Armada had horrible issues with catalytic converters clogging and damaging the motors. Sever damage! A lot of them went to Mexico... Junk!!!
At 80K miles on my 2006 Armada the Manifolds cracked and it was 3K to replace them.
Its a Nissan no surprise there
The only Nissan I will put in the tough category is the mid to late 90s Nissan patrol diesel with the inline 6 engine.
Yeah I had bad cats on my 05 qx56/armada. But it lived to 225k.
Same problem with the Altima. The catalytic converter breaks into crumbs and gets sucked back into the engine.
My 2003 GMC Yukon XL battery will not hold a charge n mechanic can't figure out why.
My 03 expedition has 251 and some change with the 5.4
My dad has an 05 Expedition Eddie Bauer. Bought in 09 with 60k. Currently has 155k. He treats it like crap. Barely any oil changes. It only asked for spark plugs (3 broke) and ignition coils and a speed sensor. Reverse band gave way too. Other than that....It hasn't asked for much...except fuel.
great video...i have a 05 chevy suburban two words BULLET PROOF! Awesome SUV I do the regular schedule maintenance and she rolls. I have 200k miles and looking at the 2015 or 2016 what you think? I'm not getting rid of my 05 just adding to the driveway!

Ford has to bring back the Excursion and discontinue the long wheel-base Expedition
I've had a 2007 Nissan Armada SE that I bought used with 180K and had it for 3+yrs and I sold it 2 yrs ago with more than 335K miles on it...I bought a 2012 Nissan Armada SL, same body style and I bought it used 6 months before I sold the '07...I bought it at 195K miles on it and now it has just over 308K miles on it. I'm going to buy a 2015 Armada in the next few months bcuz I have had No major issues or repairs on the 2 I've owned and I've used them both for Ubering, almost daily with already an average of 120 miles a day....Never left Me stranded, Ever! Armada have been under appreciated, in my opinion.
