My 2000 4.6 Ford Expedition is King of SUV's. Currently at 430K and climbing. I only replaced the timing chain and sprockets at 300K only because I felt it was about that time. lol and the transmission quit at 380K, Unbelievable power the engine still had after rebuilding the transmission. Needs paint but that's it.
We have the Lincoln version, the Navigator, 2006 @ 215K. I Changed the plugs and coils @ 165K and didn't break a single plug. I've started purchasing the timing set parts for when I do the chain but, with doing oil change intervals between 3 & 5K miles, it runs as smooth as new with not much in the line of varnish that I can see. For pulling our camper or other trailers, the dynamic air ride suspension makes it the absolute nicest tow vehicle that I've ever owned or driven.
We purchased a very clean 2013 Expedition with 118K with a brand-new Ford engine about a year ago for my wife, so the "Nap-a-gator" * has been passed down to me to play with. (* With the cruise set at 55-65, any passengers will be asleep within 10-15 minutes. Hence, the nickname Nap-a-Gator.)
They both get 19-21-ish mpg on the highway, 13-15-ish around town. Towing, the Navigator gets between 8-12, depending on how big of a hurry we're in. We haven't towed anything with the Expedition yet but it's probably about the same.
The Expedition is Flex-Fuel, so it'll burn just about anything nicely whereas the Navigator takes minimum 91 Octane. Needless to say, the Navigator is a good bit "quicker" than the Expedition, which I like, and she prefers the ride of the Expedition (which feels a bit more like a "Truck" to me, although a pretty powerful truck with a really nice ride).
I don't trust much of anything from Ford after 2013, though. Sometime around 2011, something went squirrely with the company, and they seem to have lost their "Better Ideas". I think that all of the best engineers either retired or died and they didn't really leave much in the line of apprentices behind. Take care!
Have a 2001 Ford
Excursion with 423,000
miles, 7.3 diesel.
The usual repairs, 6 tire change outs, 2 steering wheels, knock on wood,
no major issues.
Had 2 loving mechanics
that were great. Always
5,000 mile high grade oil changes, always plugged in block heater
under 36 degrees.
Always started,
changed batteries twice so far.
Used to get 17 city,
22 highway.
Dropped to 15/20
when they changed diesel to new formula.
Love "Old Red".
Saved so many people
out of ditches and mud,
hauled big trailers,
fishing trip to Ohio
with seven guys, each over 260, and 300 lb
of walleye on the bumper rack. A great
road car, couldn't ask for more.
BTW, I have a Ford 2003
E150 Chateau van
with 233K miles.
Two wheel drive, but sure got a lot of work
and fun out of this vehicle. Still running
great.
Don't know how to send
you pix of odometer or car.
Still looks good in spite
of rust on edges.
There’s a reason why the Excursion is called the KING OF SUV’s!
DOOM 173 yes they consume a crap ton of gas.
@@Bigshiesty1 MIne consumes 0 Gas. Gets 14 miles to the gallon combined and 20 miles to the gallon on the highway. I've had 14000 pounds behind it and it doesn't care.
@@nathanhartman5623 0 gas?
tae MAC I have a Diesel
@@nathanhartman5623 oh ok
I have 227,000 miles on my 2007 Ford Expedition XLT. It still looks and runs like new. I tow my 31' Vintage Airstream with no problems.
Even with the 5.4 triton v8? Or different engine
@@patttypedals the 5.4 is pretty damn reliable. 08 expedition with about 190k
I also have a 2007 Ford Expedition EB with 243k miles that rides great, in excellent mechanical condition and looks almost light it just came off the showroom floor! It’s my workhorse.
Looking in buying a 2009 Ford expedition limited with 134k miles for 9k . It looks pretty clean inside and out , hopefully I'm able to purchase it.
@@patttypedals the 5.4l is one reliable engine. Its short comings really arnt that big of a deal anymore, sparkplug breaks? Well oh well get the kit for 100$ and never pay for it again, the biggest issue wirh them was ford charging 80+ dollars a plug if it breaks (and a dealer?? Theyre gonna break. Even if they didnt.)
I have a very customized 05 Eddie Bauer Expedition with 219000. Runs like a top. The secret with the triton motor is regular oil changes. With full synthetic. I love my Ford.
We have a 2000 and are over 288,000.
Exactly.
I have owned 2 Nissan Armada, both were the models right below the Platinum level. My 2007 had over 334,000 miles on it when I sold it for $2700! The engine and transmission still work great. I only sold it because I got tired of it leaking around the sunroof area.
I currently own a 2012 that I bought used over 2 yrs ago with over 190,000 miles on it....it now has more than 273,000 miles on it. Its my daily driver and runs like a Top! I Love the Nissan Armada and truly believe they have been underrated for so long! I'll stand behind the 2007- 2015 Nissan Armadas, as being Very dependable and reliable.
I live in Atlanta area and have used both vehicles as daily driver w/ Uber. I averaged over 200 miles a day because I do long trips to and from the airport netting over 45 miles one way!
I have odometer pix if U don't believe me.
The 5.6L engine is definitely a workhorse and should be given more attention to its reliability in the Nissan Armada. Period!
Our 2000 excursion 7.3 is at about 260k with only normal wear and tear parts but nothing major! Still runnin as it should! These are proud miles and we don't except to ever het rid of it. Still take my family with small children on trips all the time without worry! Gets about 500 miles to our tank on the freeway on some of these trips and that with a 6 inch lift on 35 inch tires.
2000 excursion diesel. Bought new. 160k miles. Nothing but normal maintenance and typical repairs (radiator, water pump, ball joints). Best vehicle I have ever owned.
My dad has an '02 Excursion 6.8 V10. He bought it with 15k miles, it now has 180k, still going strong
This is now my favorite RUclips car channel!
Our 2001 Excursion gas V-10 had 385k.
My work 2000 Excursion 7.3 diesel had 750k.
750😳😳😳
Diesels are great, but there so noisey....
@@mercedesbenzs600bash oh and a gas engine with exhaust isn't noisy?
@@glaserno If you love a noisey diesel,that's great👍🏾
I have a 2011 Ford Expedition EL limited with 226,000 miles . I did a full tune up at 215,000 miles when it was running a little rough and replaced solenoids and it runs great again ! If you getting a Expedition best to get after 2008 when they fixed the spark plug issue he mentioned here. Sure 5.4 has bad rap but just like any engine take care of it and it’ll be fine . Don’t miss oil changes!!!
Our bought new 2000 7.3 Ford Excursion 4X4 diesel, just turned 200,000 miles. It starts, runs, drives, stops LIKE NEW! Ca. veh with no rust. I maintained it "By the Book" OR BETTER, since DAY 1! I Added a diesel fuel "Lubricity" additive at every fill up. (Diesel fuel has had it's lube content, reduced every few years, for decades). Transmission fluid& filter change EVERY 30,000 miles. NOTHING like travelling in an 8000 pound tank, sitting high up.
2006 sequoia with 330k miles. Still beasting in the rocky mountains of colorado. Only changed alternator once. Just regular oil change.
'03 expedition 5.4 Eddie Bauer 185k. I've only done normal maintenance
i subscribed about a week ago, i absolutely love the statistics!
Awesome! Thanks for subscribing! - Bill
My 2001 excursion has 383,600 on it. the seats and hood paint show the miles, the rest of it is still going super strong! Mobile 1 and I don't coal it up.
What does “Mobile 1 and don’t coal it up” mean? I don’t speak auto, but am trying to learn!
@@katiejon17 mobil one is an oil (GRABAGEEEEEEE PENNNNZOIIILLL GANNGGG) and "coal it up" means rolling coal, diesels shoot black smoke -unburnt fuel and sulfur- people call it "rolling coal"

golden videos ! awesome info for someone in a search for a good old SUV :) !!
2001 6.8 excursion Bought new, stored winters, loaded, just turned 50k. It’s my summer travel rig. And it is a great highway ride. Best modification was adding a rear sway bar and train horns
I have a 2004 armada it is been a great suv but not really on gas but good comfort vehicle current mileage is 228,678 and still running
Nice , I have a 2005 Nissan Armada 354,102. , still looking good. 👍🏼
I have a 2005 armada with 223000 miles on it. Still runs like new.
I have a 2000 excursion V10 at 206k miles. It still runs smooth as hell. Just maintenance. Full synthetic. Engine is so smooth.
I have a 05 suburban I bought it new it has 460,000 only issue has been brake lines rusting out and a o ring on the oil pump it looks brand new except for the driver seat. Also about 200,000 of those miles have been towing a trailer anywhere from 3,000lb to 12,000lb
i trust the motor to be fine but not that tranny at 400k.
My 2003 F-350 Super Duty 7.3 litre has 750,000 on it and is used everyday and will go for years more. i love it!!
I have a 2003 Ford Expedition 5.4L with 306k miles. Still riding strong!
I really wanna buy one of these buy I keep hearing hte 5.4L is a bad engine, I'm kinda scared I'm gonna buy into a money pit :/
I've got a 04 expedition. 200,000 miles. Got it rust free for $3000.00. I love it. It's built on the same frame as the F-150. I'm putting a few thousand into it before I put it on the road. It's going to be my weekend off road toy. Paint next year. Well worth it. It will look and run like new.
Dude!! You are right on time with this - I am looking for a big ol' honkin SUV but don't want a 2nd mortgage, err, $70K car payment. Thank you! Love your videos.
Excursion, alot of aftermarket, and modular parts for em i love mine
1999 Ford Expedition 228000 miles still going strong . Recently Had to get full tune up with coil replacement, o2 sensor, water intake tube, ball joint, wheel bearing assembly, had to get heat and back door hatch fixed and regular oil change and tires, also I have to take the hydraulic system out and put regular springs. Even though it might seem like a lot I’ve had this car for 13 years but it’s still runs great 😌
My 96 Toyota landcruiser is still kicking ass. Inline 6 cylinder 4.5L engine is a legend worldwide.
Fer Wasg lol 😂
I have 2003 Tahoe with 220,000 miles- love it! Speedometer has been out for 2 years though
Good video man, I have an 03 Suburban as well with 215,xxx on it and I bought it with 150,xxx and it has been the best 5 grand I have ever spent!! Thanks again for giving me another good channel to sub to!!
Awesome! I have an 03 suburban as well. Great truck! Thanks for the sub. Bill
Keep doing those vid
My 02 Chevy Suburban has 221,000+ miles on it and still runs like a champ. Have a small issue here and there, but for most part, it's a great truck. My cousin's friend's dad had an 03 Chevy Suburban that he bought brand new a few weeks after new year of 2003 and that truck had almost 300,000 miles on the same motor and transmission by the time he sold it in 2019. The only reason he got rid of it was because of the amount of rust. I think Chevy Suburbans are great vehicles to own. Gas can be costly, but still.
320,000 on my 2001 Chevy Suburban 5.3 and 180,000 on my 2003 Ford Excursion. I still am blow away every time I start the Chevy and it starts and purs just like it was new. Good videos and stats as I research buying a used Toyota Highlander. I like CR, but the stats you give are even more helpful.
I have 2000 for excursion 199,000 miles and still going and my husband has a 2003 excursion with 245,000 miles and still going strong
I had a spark plug pop out on my 99 Expedition. No other major problems. Had to replace some lines due to rust but it lived in Chicago.
Work with an older gentleman that has an F150, 2000ish year model and it has over 475k miles.
Hello Fresh With a rebuilt engine and trans.
Jay Moar nah man
@@jaymoar3561 That was below the belt
My parents had a 2003 Tahoe 3 years ago. It had 230,000 miles but the engine died, that was a sad day since it stopped in the middle of the road & my mother had to slowly bring it up a hill. But I got myself a 04 yukon xl and let me tell you it is a fun place to be in with friends. There’s enough room to relax. Plus the speakers are very loud :).
I am looking for a camper cargo van. I would love your help finding one . Thanks for letting us know about these older makes and models!!!
I have a Toyota Sequoia with over 400k on it
Nice! What year?
I have a 1999 Suburban 4x4 with 220,000 miles. Have had to do a lot of upkeep, but with that it drives tight on the freeway and I gladly take my family hours back in the woods to camp and hunt.
Im a simple man. I see Carsthatlast notification. I click and hit the like button.
I have a 2014 Ford Expedition EL. 101K miles. would love for it to get to 300K.
I have 2012 EL and so it’s at 150010 miles and still going strong. Synthetic oil and replaced plugs along with standard maintenance.
I've had a 2007 Nissan Armada SE that I bought used with 180K and had it for 3+yrs and I sold it 2 yrs ago with more than 335K miles on it...I bought a 2012 Nissan Armada SL, same body style and I bought it used 6 months before I sold the '07...I bought it at 195K miles on it and now it has just over 308K miles on it. I'm going to buy a 2015 Armada in the next few months bcuz I have had No major issues or repairs on the 2 I've owned and I've used them both for Ubering, almost daily with already an average of 120 miles a day....Never left Me stranded, Ever! Armada have been under appreciated, in my opinion.
We have 3 so far. A 1999 K2500 5.7LV8 Suburban with 235,000 miles and still going well, a 2008 Taurus X SEL AWD with 210,000 miles and a 1995 K1500 Z71 GMC PU with 337,000 miles. All still have their original motors and drive train
1999 Ford Expedition 5.4 2 valve triton 292,500 miles and runs like a Champ! Perfect condition! Love my Expo!
2004 Chev Suburban Z71, 333,000 right now. Runs great. Original engine and transmission. Bought it in Florida 6 years ago with 216,000. It's been in Michigan every since. Love it.
My dad has a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban LT 2WD that he bought brand new in February of 2004 and he drives this Suburban every single day, it has been in California its entire life, the current mileage on it is at least 360,000 miles, most of the things in it are original except for the driver's side mirror, the alternator, the driver's side seat, the DVD Player, the glass for the driver side barn door, the factory alarm system, a key fob for a 2000-2002 GM vehicle, and the door panels, the spare tire was used twice, and it hasn't towed a trailer at all, the radio in it is also original and it was hardly used, only 2 hub caps on the driver's side went missing, the steering wheel is original but the controls on it were not really used, the alarm system in it was replaced because the day that my dad attempted to start it, the alarm would go off, but this car is still running strong
Here in Latin America, Toyotas are built like TANKS especially the Land Cruisers 200 series, the Land Cruiser 76 and 79 series, Land Cruiser PRADO and also very popular here in my country (Dominican Republic) the medium size pick up truck the TOYOTA HILUX.
Wonder why they don't sell those here?

@@nephron9924 that would be bad ass, i found a whole kit for the 12 valve conversion for my ex including a plug and pkay to tune the tranny to correct its shift points for the 12 valve. Now they want 3800 for the kit but hey this is gonna be my truck for a llloooonnnngggggg time so itll be worth it
Pushing 287,000 on my 2003 Ford Expedition. Great vehicle!
I just purchased my third used Ford Expedition. I had a 2003 that had over 300k on it when I sold it still running great. I replaced it with a 2009 that had 345k when i sold it, also still running great. My new one has 177k on it and I'm expecting to double that mileage before replacing it. I have pulled a 12' trailer containing pianos with all my Expeditions. I've never had to do any major motor or transmission work on any of them. The majority of expense has been suspension related which is to be expected with such high mileage. Driving 30k plus per year means new tires and struts are the majority of the upkeep on them. Along with being very dependable I have found that only Ford Expeditions will allow me to spend 8 to 12 hours on the road per day without having backaches. The seat are super supportive and I will only buy Ford Expeditions from now on.
He'll sir,I am your new subscriber and njoy your channel.can you give me your thoughts about long term reliability for ford expedition timberline 3.5 liters twin turbo v6 ecoboost please ??
2000 Excursion. My beloved 7.3l 407,000 mi. All original engine and trans. Meticulously maintained
Our Excursion is a 6.0L diesel - we LOVE that Excursion and will probably never get rid of it!
In your opinion what are the top 5 things to look at before buying an Excursion 6.8 V10 with 165,000 miles??? Great review by the way 👏👍👌
2000 Lincoln Navigator 209000 miles. Bought it with 207000 runs flawless hope I can get a lot more.
Thats the older 5.4 I know a guy with a '97 Expedition with 300k
I just bought a 2012 5.4 Expedition King Ranch with only 39k miles that looks like it just rolled off of the assembly line. I'll be changing the oil every 3500k miles and draining transmission pan and changing the filter every 20k miles.
My 05 Ford Escape Hybrid has over 171000 miles. It runs beautifully. Love hybrids!! Excellent gas mileage.
Ford has to bring back the Excursion and discontinue the long wheel-base Expedition

224 on my 05 Sequoia and running strong 💪
My brother-in-law's, '07 Nissan Armada has 188,000 and it's running strong. Only thing so far are the rear shocks. He has to replace them. He took it to Denver and back from Washington state with no hiccups.

2007 dodge durango sxt.117k miles and climbing. normal repairs other then the purge valve vacuum hoses and the abs module
In my opinion the Expedition is one of the best vehicles ever made by Ford. I tend to prefer the 1st generation body style, it’s got both a modern yet somewhat “retro” look and I’ve actually received unsolicited compliments on mine.
The Chevy Suburban is known to be a favorite of Mexican “immigrants” in the U.S. I once read a true story about an American guy in California who’s Suburban was stolen. About six months later, while on a visit to Tijuana, he unexpectedly spotted it - it was being used as an everyday car by the Tijuana police.
The Lincoln Navigator version I have (2013) also great
I had a expedition with misfire problems. As much as I loved that truck, I will NEVER buy another Ford SUV. It drove me mad trying to fix it. In the end I sold it for scrap. Still pissed off and it's been years.

Could it have been a spark plug issue? The spark plugs in the earlier Expeditions are notoriously a pita to remove, not sure if Ford improved their accessibility in later versions.
@@hayesman76 sparks were replaced with one piece plugs to avoid breaking in cylinder head. Also all coils were replaced. And some injectors. But I went as deep as taking off the plastic upper intake manifold off and noticed melted plastic on cylinder 3 and 4. Bought another manifold and replaced it. Still ran rough. That's when I gave up.

Just had instrument panel fixed yesterday on 2004 Burb. Brakes still original at 160,000
I have a 2005 Armada that currently has a little over 210k and as far as quality everything still works great. It’s one with all the options from rear tv’s, navigation and 4wd. It drives great the only issue is that it burns about a quart of oil every 5-600 miles. I also have a 04 Z71 Tahoe with the 5.3 that had 247k and is still going strong. I daily drive a 2008 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 LS3 motor that has about 215k on it but looks and drives like brand new.
which one is fastest?
my dad has an 03 Z71 suburban LT that I was thinking about buying off him. the abs system is messed up and the brake lines ALL need replaced but I was thinking about doing an ABS delete and just running regular brakes to it. also it needs new cats but might just delete those too.
Sehr gut
I live in Colorado, and as of March 2021, there are 3 Excursions for sale that have more miles than the numbers you listed. Here they are:
2000 6.8 V10- 375,000 miles
2005 6.0 V8- 448,500 miles
2002 7.3 V8- 455,800 miles
Yeah these trucks are enormous, yeah they don't get the hottest gas mileage, yeah they're kind of cheaply made, but goddamn do they last forever.
I have a 99 suburban GMC with 298,000 miles. I retired from driving it about 4 years ago . Started working on it a couple weeks ago putting a new brake line to the rear breaks and repairing a bad fuel line to sell. I used this vehicle to haul my boat. Was planning on selling it. I have put a lot of new parts on it over the years. I Believe this is very easy vehicle to work on. I enjoyed driving it. The radius turn is better than most smaller vehicles, has plenty of power pulling my boat. As I have been working on it at the moment, I have no heart to sell it ( changed my mind). The sticker price on it in 1999 was $40,000 something dollars. I think easily, its' one of the top SUVs' ever made.
I bought a 2011 expy 5 years ago. It now has 60,000 miles on it. Since it will probably last 300,000 miles (I keep it maintained--looks new) and I drive about 5,000 a year....this calculates to 240,000 miles left on it divided by 5,000 miles a year which would mean another 48 years of service for my 2011 Expedition. But, I am 73 years old and don't think I will be smelling very good at a ripe old age of 121. I will be optimistic and try to outlive the truck!!
I have a 06 ford explorer 4.0 6 cylinder with 237,350 got it 4 yrs ago with 215,000 on it. And the baby still running good. Coming for Bundy's record
I have a loaded 2003 Z71 4x4 Suburban 222000 miles no accidents 2 owner for sale 3995. Here in Utah
I got a 2003 5.3 Suburban I got it for $1,500 and the engine seems great but somebody told me that the Transmissions usually go out on these cars from a hundred fifty to two hundred thousand miles so the life of the engine is usually twice as long as the transmission so when I rebuilt the transmission I'll probably put a heavy-duty Transmission in love your videos thanks for all the information
I own a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali XL current is 360,000 kms. Also note if you have transmission problems isn't necessarily a rebuild. I found out mine was a valvetrain rebuild kit. The transgo.
235k and climbing - Ford Excursion 6.0L
My 04 Suburban loaded LT is gonna turn 300k soon. Mostly maintenance, radiator, brake lines, shocks, etc. Still has original AC, hoses, left side ball joints and bearings, exhaust. Zero engine/tranny problems. I tow, haul, offroad and live in the NE and spend 100s of hours every year driving the beaches fishing. I also drive in NY traffic daily. Engine runs perfect and burns little oil between 10k mile oil changes. It will rust out from under me before it dies. Best part is I payed $10k in 2008 with 48K miles, did a 2" lift and put on 285's, been running it hard ever since.
2000 GMC Yukon Denali sitting at around 245K miles, bought it at 196K miles
I have a Expedition 2001 Ed. Buer. 4x4 5.4 L. at this time it has 294,883 miles, like 6 yaers ago i Funish the The transmission for some leaking oil, but just that. Greetings from Tijuana Baja.
My dad has an 05 Expedition Eddie Bauer. Bought in 09 with 60k. Currently has 155k. He treats it like crap. Barely any oil changes. It only asked for spark plugs (3 broke) and ignition coils and a speed sensor. Reverse band gave way too. Other than that....It hasn't asked for much...except fuel.
