Later in 1948 some guy (Constantine Zurayk) wrote a book called "On the Meaning of the Disaster (Nakba)" the Nakba was the inability of seven Arab armies to defeat the Jews. In his book he had not nice things to say about the Arabs of the land of Israel. One word he used was impotent. There is no Palestinian Holocaust but according to the Arab leaders, they wanted to do one on the Jews.
The Irgun and Lehi's battle in Dir Yassin (the Palmach actually finished it) caused such bombastic claims (by British Jewish Agency, the dissidents, but mostly by one Hussien Khalidi) that the Arab population FELD (estimated 350,000). To say they had little effect is to ignore the IZL was the size of a brigade, it took Jaffa (forcing the Egyptians to enter further south) and of course the Dir Yassin fallout...
