  • In this video I share how I made a Cat Scratching Post for my Parents Cat. I made it out of Scrap Wood & off cuts of Carpet. It turned out to be very heavy and sturdy. I just hope the Cat likes it!

Beautiful, sturdy cat scratching post. Also like that it doesn't use sisal rope--not all cats like sisal. Heck, given that so many of them scratch upholstery fabric and carpets, I wish that large cat scratching post with upholstery fabrics and/or carpets were manufactured and sold to cat parents.

Thank you 👍🏻 yea that was my thinking as they tear up the carpet they would probably like this. Plus I had this left over carpet and the sisal rope is not cheap.

Very nice job!! I used this plan and the only thing I did differently is I used sisal rope on the post.

@@mr.beavis2202 Thanks 👍🏻 yea I was going to buy some sisal rope but I had the leftover carpet so used that instead.

We have just recently got our first cat, a dumped stray. Costing more in vet bills than any of our children ever did. Lol. Brilliant project. Cheers Phill.

Awesome! I do have 3 different scratching posts around the house that luckily I have found at yard sales or someone set beside the trash bins but I think I want to make one. I will do this to make a huge one. So simple, Thank you!

Absolute genius Phil, something like that would stop my two furry friends from knackering up the stair carpet 😺😺

Thank you for making a very easy to follow video! I’m more of a diy craft person but slowly tip-toeing into wood projects. Thanks for excellent instruction! Liked and subscribed! Can’t wait to start making this for my cat.

Thanks Nicola. You really don't need a mitre saw for this a hand saw will do. Also, you don't need a router you can just smooth over the edges with sandpaper.

My effin cat better like this bc he has already ruined 2 300 dollar 2000s era ikea office chairs. I got them from a neighbour when he moved. Had the recipes and everything. I don't really use them but it still hurts to see my precious Gary destroy something worth 300 bucks. That's like 400 bucks now with inflation.
