The irony really, where one is critical of another country, who has no history of colonialism or invasion of foreign lands, forgets his country is responsible for why Yemen is in this dire state it is. It helps knowing about history, the past, before wearing rose tinted lenses and judging a country and criticising their culture and beliefs. How ignorant can one be hey.
We are living in an era of tyrants and unfortunately Yemen is surrounded by them. One wants their cost other want their land and some want their people 😢
Hadhramaut has connections with many places around the world due to the historical emigration of Hadrami traders. This includes East Asia (India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, etc.), East Africa (Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, etc.), and many other regions. There is a saying that says "You can't find a country without finding a Hadrami in it."
Yemen is one of the countries I know the least so I appreciate you making this video Harry. I wouldn't have gone hunting for this information on my own.

Harry, Great video; happy to see you safe and exploring Yemen. I'll share a few of my thoughts on the video, simply for some added insight. As you had mentioned (and wisely stayed away from discussing in detail with locals), Yemen is "fragmented" due to external bodies using factions/sects/demographics to engage in proxy war. The part of Yemen that you had explored is Southern Yemen, as you had covered, which is supported by the UAE & Saudi Arabia (and you had even heard of certain village natives using the Saudi currency rather than the Yemeni equivalent). Northern Yemen is different when it comes to external body support (Iran). The people in the North are suppressed by the media and people from the region of Yemen that you explored would never endorse you traveling to the North; at the very least, not for the foreseeable future. However, I believe it's important that you in some way get exposed to perspectives and lifestyles + situations of people living in the North, although the region is currently unstable & is not safe like Saudi/UAE protected regions in Southern Yemen. I commend you for traveling to a region that is frequently misrepresented in the media, and highly encourage you (with whatever means possible) to explore the full canvas as much as possible, whenever safe to do so. I certainly don't blame you for exploring the region you did/not traveling to the North. There are currently flights via Yemenia to Sana'a (which is the only external access port; Saudi will not fly to Sana'a/the North specifically and UAE does not have any officially proper route to Yemen). I'm not Yemeni (so I don't have explicit official connections there), but I can point you in the right direction if you're ever interested in further insight of the North & travel in the region. Wishing you all the best.
The only way to travel to Sana’a would be from Jordan currently as Egypt constantly closes the flights from Cairo to Sana’a. In Jordan they can also be very strict in what your business is there and so on.
Loved the point when he came to you with a map. Simple man you know. And curious. He knows there is a big wide world out there and he can probably not see much of it because his passport is not as strong. But he wants to see it and he is seeing you, and parts of your place through you. Loved this part, brought tears to my eyes❤ we all long to explore. Some of us can actually do it.
When you said tattoos, I believe you were referring to henna. Unlike tattoos, henna is a temporary dye used to create designs on the skin and naturally fades over time. Tattoos, however, are permanent because the ink is injected into the skin. Henna is generally safe, whereas tattoos might carry risks if done improperly or with harmful inks. henna is a natural dye made from the leaves of the Lawsonia inermis plant, commonly known as the henna tree or hina. The leaves are dried, ground into a fine powder, and mixed with water or other liquids to create a paste. It's popular in regions like South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.

I went immediately to comment when I heard that. Women are literally the most precious people in every Muslim household. Our mothers are seen and treated as queens. The mother of all believers, Khadija, the wife of our beloved prophet Mohamed (peace be upon him), was a businesswoman. There's no interdiction for women to go out and work. There are rules, though, but the same goes for men.

You should visit the north of Yemen to see the positive side where the capital is Sana'a and the tourist cities, while in the south the parties to the conflict are many tribes and the Emirates and Saudi Arabia are making the situation worse. The level of security is much better than in the southern regions. Do not believe everything that is rumored about the Houthis, their regime has proven its worth.
Wow! you were telling the truth when you said "I'm not a typical tourist" somewhere in Egypt, I assume. Not many westerns dare to go to Yemen. :) Love your vids! I've always wanted to visit Yemen. I find its story somehow similar to my country, Afghanistan.
Great video...but... this is just 1 very rural poor part of Yemen, the lifestyle and mentality here do not represent other parts of Yemen... The video is great and your very brave to venture to this space on our planet... however, its unfair to catagorise and label all of Yemen the same as this 1 spot. Women in Yemen are not generaly oppressed and supressed, yes it happens to a certain level in rural areas but the situation is different depending which region a woman is in. Hopefuly we get to see more footage from another part of Yemen. 😉

Hadrmout has a great and deep history, In one of the historical studies with the participation of a Soviet mission, they concluded that the ancient human settlement in Al-Qazah Cave in Wadi Doan in Hadhramaut dates back to one million and three hundred thousand years BC. Since 1967, Hadhramaut has been considered part of Yemen. While some people saying it's ok, others view it as the beginning of an occupation aimed at erasing Hadhramaut's unique identity. Historically, the southern of Arabian Peninsula was known as three distinct regions: Oman, Hadhramaut, and Yemen. However, many people now overlook this historical Fact and consider Hadhramaut (the largest and oldest) as a part of Yemen.

@@spidyman8853 Have you ever ever just wondered, that maybe these people just want to be left alone, to live their lives, without the interferences from Western colonists. Harry is from the UK, where the UK government, provided military and bombs to the Saudi government, to actually bomb Yemen, and are still providing the Nazi illegal colonial of Israhell with weapons now, to carry out a Genocide🍉ide against Palestinians, Lebanon, Syrians and now Iran.

Harry,
Great video; happy to see you safe and exploring Yemen.
Wishing you all the best.
thanks i would love to visit north yemen, 100% in the future!

In the part of Yemen that you have visited, there is currently no Yemeni government, on the contrary, there is a government there - Saudi, Arab-Emirates, America. Any blame should be given to the government of your country rather than to the government of Yemen.
