Lee saved Jessie in the beginning, she repaid that kindness by getting both Lee and Sammy dead.
This movie is designed to teach us a lesson and that is “nobody wins in war” in the end the president is assassinated the western forces have won the troops are seen in good spirits with happy music in the background they’ve taken over DC but did they really win? The war left the entirety of America torn in pieces, many are left without home struggling to survive. Alot of death is yet to come as Western forces tries to get the rest of America to surrender. The whole country is like a lawless wasteland with no regard for human life. In the end nobody wins all that’s left is a still divided country and a dead president. The lack of information also contributes to the lesson as it’s not mentioned by anybody why they’re fighting it must not be a good reason showing that the war is pointless and nobody wins.
BINGO....
"War never changes"
Also the point is regardless of reasons, an escalating tension, both sides should pause and say "is this worth the inevitable violence"
LOL, the victors win. Besides, it's a fucking movie not reality.
@@senoJSRthe point is that it can be reality. They’re already talking about going to war again.
They are fighting to remove a FASCIST. What don't you get about that?

This movie needs a prequel & sequel

Or at the very least a comic on the factions. We didn’t get to see the Florida alliance or the New People’s Army.
See them in reality.
No prequel needed. That would spoil the original.
I hated Jessie, especially what she became in the end made me extremely angry... 😡
she was doing her job. she's no different than lee.

@@gravityfallscanadawas sammy the old black one? Yeah he was like the only likeable character

That's what was a mind fuck about it. Did she intend for that to happen or was it a pure mistake from being ambitious and she became numb like her predecessor and kept moving forward avoiding feeling her pain?
@@fiyahspinnahpersonally I feel like it's the latter.
@@jeffalexgreco Yeah, me too. I don't think she was conniving, but the way she didn't react was so brutal it felt sinister.
Probably didn’t want her to die but knowing if she died she’d want to be ready for it. I think that’s something the journalists in this film think about often. Filming the raw reality even the death of their own colleagues to get the message across. It’s so unlikely she did anything on purpose when she died
@@camgalloway691deep stuff.
The girls fault Lee died she stupidly put herself at risk multiple times to get photos . I wanted the film to be longer see more soldier civilian encounters
yes, and Lee chooses to die too
Honestly I liked it. The urban combat scenes were decently good. The horrors of war coming to a 1st world country is disturbing to imagine.
I just wish it was a bit longer and the ending wasn’t so…abrupt. A post credit scene on what happens to the states now or where the journalists will go from here would have been nice.
Otherwise 8.5/10 for me.

It doesn't even have to be a scene either, just like a photo encapsulating the aftermath of the war or something like that, right after the photo of the soldiers.

Agree. Great except for the abrupt ending.
just finished watching the movie, technically Lee is not dead because if you pay attention to what the secret service are using, they are using 9mm MP5 sub machine guns and Lee is wearing your typical level IIIA body armor which is rated for 9mm, 357 mag, 44 mag, and 12 gauge. I also dont understand why she had to just stand there and take the hits when she could of just hit the floor
If you pay attention all the shells on the floor next to Lee are blanks, the tip of the casing is crimped because there is never a bullet inserted.
Buzzkill
Technically you are an idiot because technically this is a movie and technically you are supposed to suspend your disbelief. Technically this is a shitty comment from someone who wants to flex their technical knowledge on something unrelated to the film and completely missed the point of the whole thing. Technically it’s an ambiguous ending, but this is technically the least ambiguous aspect of it.
@@MegaDoomcat you feel better …. Was it worth it

lee was tired. not just of war but the need to always be at the forefront of her taxing career. it took losing her friend/mentor to realize this, so by the end its up to jessie to either continue in lee's path or end it there knowing what she and lee has been through.
You made a wholeass video opining on shit that wasn’t even the point of the movie. This is a true masterclass in missing the whole goddam point.
I always thought the most realistic portrayal of a modern day Civil War was Euel Arden’s novel, Down Here in the Warmth. Great book. How can you go wrong with Militia on the streets of Manhattan.
I definitely gotta look into that
A book from 2020? Have they thoroughly thought about past events and occurrences?

This movie confused the hell out of me. We don't know why anything is happening. Would have been an epic movie if it had a story.

@@SWACBUZZ it has meaning it is supposed to show the reality of war uncensored I got the point pretty clearly without the story. I don’t know what you were expecting because the movie trailer didn’t show any story at all.
The whole point is that we’re not supposed to know HOW the war started, it is just trying to send a message that we as a country should never get to this point. If it had a backstory, there would be political statements, which would cause bias and only certain audiences would watch it or listen to its message.

Ron Swanson’s first and second term are left unexplored.
Why would the president be hiding in his office and not the emergency bunker in the White House?
Yeah not gonna lie he's like half the reason I saw the movie in the first place.
Civil War was an ok movie, however, the script, specifically the backstory did not explain enough about how the conflict started. The story didn't address any political questions about why the Civil War occurred because the President's character, the main antagonist was not developed. If you have a great actor like Nic Offerman then use him. The Western Forces also needed a character to explain why Texas and California succeeded from the USA. The journalist's screen time should have been cut down drastically in the movie. Civil Movie had too many unanswered questions.
That would be a different movie though. That could be a good movie where the politics take center stage but that would just alienate half the country. This movie is working on a different level.
Texas would never align itself with California, they are too different politically
Texas is aligned with California right now. You're foolish to think otherwise. Both states know what they're doing... but go ahead and take the politician's bite to *think* we're divided while they continue to make deals with each other behind closed doors.
The only ones who care about political ideals are the naive public, those in power in both states care about one thing and one thing only and that's money. They leave the political squabbles to dolts like you and me.
You didn't get how this garbage movie was portrayed, western forces are liberals of california and taxes and their armies united, going up again Trump style government
They’re actually pretty similar in a way, only they’re major cities are left leaning all of they’re rural areas are mostly right leaning
The movie is for stupid people, created for the sake of propaganda, that Texas and California are savages and not people, in reality, if Texas and California wanted to become independent from the U.S., they would have forced the president of the U.S. to sign a document on their independence, not kill him) very funny movie.

Aren’t they forgetting about the Vice President? And who controls the nukes?
It seems that the president was given absolute power over everything including the nukes. I mean we don't even see an active congress in the movie so basically a nation with most of the bulk of the military throwing allegiance to the main resistance to the dictator president.
The nukes are manned on site in silos across the country which are controlled by the States.
As far as nukes are concerned, the president doesn't just push a button that lunches them, there are a dozen people in between who can stop it right down to the missile men, sub commanders and bomber crews, not to mention all the people in between. Also those service members and everyone in chain, are from all over the US, they are not going to nuke any part of it killing the families of people in the chain. AS far as Thomas J. Williams, the next in chain is SecDef, not VP, and here is the issue as to whether VP would be recognized or obeyed

i expected too much for this movie...so much talk about the mass grave scene....a small dot compared to the village scene from platoon....
The ending was forced. They could just have moved out of the fire. It was unnecessary and predictable. Every death was.
I think most of the nation already didn't participate, not even whole D.C. was part of the fighting. If the Western Forces reinstate the original USA with a reformed constitution, that would make impeachment easier, the country could heal again. After that the hunt for war criminals begins. The universal pardon after the first civil war is one reason for the current division after all. And was probably the biggest mistake Lincolns. Even though it was an understandable one. But criminals on both sides could just move on and became influential spreaders of hatred and propaganda that poisoned the minds of future generations. I mean, I read history books of several different states. Every single one is political colored and none of them actually portrait real scientific conclusions. For example: there are school texts from the South that are scientifically wrong and ignore historical documents that falsify their claims and they still teach it. That's just morally wrong, no matter how you look at it. No matter what political opinion you have.
Fact is the Founding Fathers intended the current system on the premises that future leaders are integer people, with a political well educated population. People like Nixon, Clinton, Bush or Trump (I don't try to be political here) who use every grey are they can find and the current division of the political parties, because of politically biased media (like FOX and CNN) and social media algorithms (pretty much all of them), were never part of that picture they have drawn for their nation. The current political structure is not able to handle that sort of pressure and societal change and needs to be modernised.
English is not my native language, so please forgive spelling errors. I'm from Germany and we also have political problems, but our democracy is younger. We had time to learn from failures and created a political structure that is somewhat able to adept to current times. Yes, there is discussion and worse, but it seems to be goal oriented.
Sadly, I don't see that in the US anymore. Only, ideological and profit driven infighting. No matter of Republican or Democrats.
Good points made and you seem to understand the country well!

I found it satisfying although it could have shown more. That scene with todd was bonechilling.
The girl with them ruined the fun of the movie. The little brat got everyone killed, including Lee. Her role annoys me. Is the beast really that easy to destroy? Is it possible that the White House doesn't have an underground escape system known only to the president for emergencies like this? And why does it have to be the black soldiers who must kill the president? And what was the rest of the world like China, Russia and expecially NATO allies doing during this war... Overall, I think its a great movie in terms of picture quality, but story line with basic info is completely zero so with your permission, I rate this movie 3/10 and that is me being considerate.
It's good to know those soldiers fulfilled their oath.
You say the President had "fascist" beliefs. What makes it 'fascist'. I never heard anything in the movie pointing towards that. More like he was overstaying his two terms and now in a third term. There was literally nothing else as information. He could have been any political side, but he just became dictatorial.
I don't even know on what side the red glasses Jesse Plemmons was on. Was he loyalist? US military under the President? Florida alliance. It was never made clear.
Those were slightly annoying. I don't need to know the politics, but I kind of just wanted to know what side some of these groups were on.
At the end of the movie it also just ends so Western forces winning doesn't mean end of the civil war or that things will be better.
But that was Garland's point. That civil war is bad and no one should want it.
I think they mentioned that he was with the government forces...when they were trying to figure out if any of the dead bodies in the back of the dump truck were wearing uniforms.
I thought they said he wasnt a federal troop tho?
He dissolved the FBI, bombed American citizens and had three, likely illegal terms are the only info were given. Sounds pretty fascist to me tbh
Govt troops were said to gun down journalists. Thats some pretty fashy stuff if you ask me.
I think it's interesting that Jesse Plemons' character and his buddies weren't wearing any kevlar or patches signifying their allegiance. My headcanon is that the red sunglasses character and his comrades were members of the Proud Boys or a different far right group who decided to start racial cleansing while they could
Just watched this movie and I was like.... everyone is black and white, where's asian? Until nearly the end of video I was like.... oh... that's why.
this movie didn’t even tell you enough about the president to label him a fascist
They were very vague about it, but what I gathered the president ran for a third term, disbanded the fbi, and used lethal force to put down protesters. For me, that’s enough to label him as a fascist, but I wish they were more clear about it instead of dropping this information in the background.

Crazy to have a movie with war in the title, and not show much “war scenes”, explain how it started, who was in charge of the resistance, etc. This movie was trash as far as a war movie goes. It would be like going to watch the Titanic movie and all the whole movie is-is people getting on the boat.
Why does someone always have to be I'm charge of a group.
If a civil war happened. Nobody would really know how it started

He REALLY keeps the movie vague as the politics go.
If you look at it the "loyalist" states would be basically "blue states" in real life. Florida alliance would be mostly Red states and so would Texas. California clearly a blue state.
So the President in office doesn't seem likely to actually be conservative given the "loyalist" states supporting him.
But that is Garland's point or trick it's all just a jumbled incoherent mess to have any clear cut politics of which party is which etc.
He mostly just wanted to show horror of civil war. I mean the actions on all sides are pretty bad and brutal. Of course some worse than others like the Jesse guy. But at the same times, the Western forces just execute everyone in their way, no trials or surrender etc either.
I just watched if for the scenes of craziness of seeing a civil war in USA etc.
Looking at the makeup of the Western forces, it appears as if the majority of the US military has gone over to them. The Chinook helicopter, which was hooking up to a Humvee, had the 1st Air Cavalry patch on its nose. Also, there was a mixture of army, marine, and maybe navy seals involved in the attack on the White House.
i was really impressed by the president's performance
What made this film confusing was the young girl in it. She looked like she was about 12. Also the film was boring. The character of the president should’ve been played by someone else and had more expanded on him. That actor is awful.

This movie does not explain the cause of the coming US Civil War, which should be the reason why Garland made this movie. One must know the conflicts and root causes that led up to the coming civil war. Without an explanation, the movie story flops. It is not realistic, and no one knows the cause of why they are fighting, who the enemy is, and why the US government became so authoritarian. No one knows how biased the US military is toward one side or the other. No one knows what triggered the civil war. California and Texas currently have extremely opposing political views and would never join forces against the US government if they continued to be political foes. No one knows how a new civil war will make the US vulnerable to foreign aggression if China takes over Taiwan or if Russia takes over the former Soviet-block countries while the US is in a civil war. No one knows realistically what states will secede from the union or how they will form a united army to defend themselves against the Federal government. The movie mentions nothing about the Constitution or what happened to the three branches of government.
