Sounds good. I'm a big fan of the first gen Hovr Sonic, my favorite shoe for fast run sessions. All my PRs are with the Hovr Sonic, and I topped those Monday with a 5k time trial, improving my previous best time by a few minutes. As you described about these newer UA shoes, the original Hovr Sonics felt nimble and made me want to run. While the adidas Boost shoes are comfy I'm usually a bit slower in those and they feel squishy and imprecise. I also appreciate the connectivity with Map My Run for coaching tips. I only resumed running recently after a 40 year hiatus and my form was terrible. The app audio prompts help keep me on track and avoid injury. Great review, answered my questions. This new UA shoe will be on my list.
Awesome review and super insightful! $160 USD is way too expensive considering the alternatives at that price. I think this shoe would be ideal at $130 at most.
It's worth the price. I have the white variant of the Velociti and they are super responsive and this maybe the best under armour pair of shoes I've had💯
Actually I disagree. I have worn the HOVR mid sole in the Sonic, Infinite 1 and HOVR Velociti 2. I enjoyed the ride in each of these. I have gone through 2 pair of Infinite shoes and am just staring my third pair now. I like them for mid to long runs and find them responsive but sufficiently cushioned. I guess it just depends on your individual feel. (Also, I liked the HOVR Velociti much more than the Speedform version.
@@jerrylangan3435 I get that I used those shoes and loved them but I think hovr feels different in different shoes which is why there is such a divide in how people like it.
It felt a bit tight on the first day but was probably coz my feet wasn’t used to it. Coz the next day I was walking fast and felt good . I loved the phantom version the best though
I'd be willing to bet that Stephen Scullion helped design these, he has a custom prototype "no brand" white version of these that are more or less identical.
Hi, see the black strip does the insole area sit under it (depth) so the black flow midsole bit is just something that goes around your feet rather than something your feet sit on, I have noticed many trainers look good with high stack height however once you get the trainers on you soon find out it's an illusion and your trainers have only a very small bit of foam for example Adidas Sense bounce is like that
Bit late to this one but interesting you say are TTS for you as anything but for me. I got my normal UK 13 (a 32 cm shoe) and the insole is indeed 32cm but it looks what is happening is the generous padding in the heel and the very rounded back of the insole is pushing my foot quite far forward and so reducing the effective length of the shoe.
I had to send mine back as too small in my size. Could get in then but big toe rubbing and would undoubtedly leas to hole eventually. Ordered one full size up to be sure as a few other sites suggest they run a full size small.
Ah good (sort of) to read this as just received a pair in my normal size and also far too small. Seems the padding in the heel and the shape of the back of the insole is throwing you too far forward.
@@TimGrose you send them back? I ended up with half size up though think I should have gone a full size. Could not be bothered with sending them back again.
@@YouCantGoBack I did send them back yes as knew when put on not even worth trying a run in them. This was a UK 13 which is my normal size in all Nike or Saucony shoes. Only have had one UA shoe before which was fine in that size. I see they do a UK 14 in these ones but don’t want to pay full price for a shoe I think about to see a new version especially when the one sent back was £88 not £140 RRP.
Flow is used also in their basketball shoe which are Curry 8. Interesting to see that they didnt put the outsole (just like in Curry 8). Wonder how long the outsole will last.
Yeah, we learned this after we shot. Hands up, we’re not big on basketball here so we hasn’t clocked that. Interesting that it’s been brought over from basketball. So far outsole on out shoe looks good for 60 miles.
Hi Kevin, (Kieran here) while we’re not experts in that space, I’d say there’s enough for ground contact and protection here to make these a better match for that than a lot of running shoes. Stability is pretty good, not too high stacked so you’re closer to the ground for lifts and stuff.
In all honest it doesn't add many more metrics. Foot strike being the main one. Though it does offer real-time coaching for some of those metrics and in terms of accuracy, there's a good argument to say the foot beats the arm for measuring running mechanics though we're planning on a doing a separate video that dives deeper into that side of it.
How is agility drills with this shoe? Would it be easy to sprain an ankle or are they good for like jump roping and cutting corners as well as running?
Hi James, this is a little bit out side of what we test for but the foam is fairly firm and stable so these are probably more suited to that than some squishier foam shoes.
I have Speedform Apollos which are 6.5 ounces - lighter than this flow shoe. Not as soft however. If they took the Speedform Apollo upper and combined it with the midsole of this shoe they would have the perfect shoe. But UA is UA and they always find a way to make problematic shoes. Many people who have reviewed this shoe say there is a discomfort above the toes, just behind the nails.
Hey there,I am not in the market for carbon plated shoes so was caught between this and Rincon 3, looking for a sub 80 half marathon, which do you reckon would be better bet?
We’re not saying there aren’t better shoes but when you consider you can pay £250 for accessories that do the tracking the sensors do, you’re not paying that extra on top of the shoes. They might not be the cheapest shoes but you’re still getting a chunk of tracking capability built into the price of the shoe.
When I was recovering from back surgery I used UA connected shoes to help sort out my running form on a treadmill, was an excellent tool to be able to see real time running metrics.
I'm also curious to here this answer 🤔 tech in the shoe that actually works seems like an added benefit. Even more so when you don't have to charge it and all you have to do is open the app.

Even at $130 there are better options imo (sketchers razor 3 e.g)....
I love the toe box on Under Armour. Just ordered a pair.
UA heading in the right direction. Like the sound of these, price a little steep though.
Completely agree. They’re good shoes rather than remarkable. Best they’ve produced yet but maybe knock at least £20 off the price.
@@TheRunTesters why? Boost shoes sell for more

Interested in trying a pair of these, I also wasn't a fan of HOVR, tried it ina few different shoes and it just felt hard and ckunky.
(Kieran here) I felt the same about HOVR. This is still firm but less rigid and clunky. I think it’s a big improvement:

Pains me to hear how many reviewers talk about a heel strike, the worst way to run.
Flow velociti or flow velociti se in your opinion?

Hey, how are the shoes (foam soles specifically) holding up? Still solid or worn out prematurely?
Would you recommend these for an all around shoe? As in agility and group PT style workouts along with the base long runs?

im surprised you compared it to the evoride, which for me is a firm and harsh shoe. would you say they’re of the same firmness?
Can you recommend a waterproof walking shoe please. I am doing about 10 km per day. Thank you.

Nike Pegasus shield is the waterproof and is a great all arounder

41-42.
