😀👜✨🤗💼👞✨😁Thank you so much💝 dear Frau Brigitte Meier🙋🏼♀️ and dear Rajiv Surendra🙋🏼♂️ for highlighting this beautiful craft for taking care of leather items ✨👞✨👜✨💼✨🥾✨
My late partner enjoyed the ritual of polishing shoes for himself and for our son & I. It's just one of the small things that I miss about him. He used to polish our son's Dr. Marten black school shoes to perfection, making sure not to get the polish on the yellow stitching. I remember speaking with an elderly lady and she said that she missed her late husband sharpening her make-up pencils for her and that she could never get them to a nice sharp point like he did. 👱❤️
Rajiv your channel has become a favorite of mine. I love that your embracing the crafts from around the world. You've really found your lane. PS I like same things you do the older things were all just made to last and esthetically pleasing also. Keep it comming.
This brought my grandfather straight back to me. I lived with him and my grandmother in my first years of highschool, and he would take my school shoes each week and polish them to a high shine (something I was faintly mortified about as a teenager, but can now see as a deep expression of love and care). He died many years ago but I still have his brushes for my shoes and my younger sister has the little slope-topped wooden shoe shine stool he made with the lid that lifts to store the shining equipment. I now know that I have never really achieved a good result with my cleaning efforts because I apply way too much polish. Thank you for the delightful lesson.
Ohhhhh...what a wonderful shop. I have been there many times. The professionalism of the owner and staff has no boundaries. It is probably one of my favorite shops in the world!
As a youngest child in the family , I had to polish shoes for everyone on Saturdays. They were different colors and different shoe polishes from black, brown to clear. I did not have to use any water or spit on them. I was crying almost every time so my tears dropped on shoes. Older kids were watching TV or reading and I thought it was some kind of punishment. It turn out my siblings did it too before me. Great tutorial. 😊
I was born on a US military base in Stuttgart. I have great memories leaving base around the holidays... The pretzels and thick hot chocolate OMGOODNESS! 🤎
What a wonderfully delightful video! I started watching it yesterday, but then paused so I could start over and enjoy it with my husband. Frau Meier is such an elegant lady, and the way you create these videos is truly a pleasure to watch. Please keep sharing more, Rajiv! Sending loads of love your way!
Thank you always, Rajiv, and Grűs Gott to you. I wanted to point out that there were ‘orbs’ floating around Mrs. Meir. I noticed it first within minute mark 16+ and again (twice) within minute mark 18+. I don’t know if you subscribe to this beautiful and spiritual visit to her or not, but I do. Blessings to her and for always to you, dear Rajiv.
Thank you so much bringing appreciation of old handwork traditions to be seen. I am living not very far from munich and love this city very much too. Und die Jodelmusik ist wirklich sehr speziell !
Again, thank you Rajiv. What a wonderful craft to see the proper care of leather shoes and the care she puts in her work. So much so, I've never seen so many orbs floating around her, generations so proud I'm sure.
Thank you Rajiv for trying to get straight instructions, step by step, out of her. It's frustrating when people on YT videos that demonstrate something don't specify exactly how/when/what
This is absolutely a national treasure what an amazing, inspiring place and lady. I hope one day to visit in person. Thank you yet again Rajiv for showcasing such wonderful talent !!!!
Lovely, this brings back memories of my father polishing all the family’s shoes every Saturday so that we were all well turned out in our “Sunday best” for Mass the next day. He would line them all up outside on the stone windowsill and start with a stiff brush to remove any mud. Then he’d rub in the polish very thoroughly with another slightly softer brush. Next he’d bring up the shine with a super soft brush. I can remember the sound. There was no water or spitting but all nine pairs were super shiny……just for one day; somehow we always found muddy puddles on the way home.
Wow Rajiv. Thank you Liebe Frau Meier for showing us how to do polish the right way. I guess shoe polish is kinda similar to oil painting. I am gonna try this. For non German speakers, if you can, watch the German movie Das Lieben Der Anderen. One of the best movies of all times like the French Les Misěrables. Thank you and love you Rajiv for showing us so many great things through people who have expertise in it.
Gosh does this ever take me back to being a police recruit and having to learn how to"spit-shine" our boots, because you were inspected for the condition of your uniform. Messy boots were a BIG no no. Of course they were real leather back then, but it did take hours to get even close to what she has demonstrated when working on new leather. Wish I had known about their polish and the goat hair brush for finishing. Thanks for sharing. What a beautiful shop with such a rich heritage..
Dankeschön for showing my beautiful city and inspiring me to visit these unique shops more often. Was at the Filz shop this morning and would have loved to attend the shoe shine seminar at Ed Meier`s - my shoes would really need some TLC - missed it by a few hours… schade.
As always, I learned something new and enjoyed the time I spent with you today! You have such lovely commraderie with the people you introduce to us, and it really comes across in your videos! Have a lovely week, and I look forward to your next video! Hope you found just the right shade of polishes and picked up a couple of goat hair brushes for brushing off dust and polishing! Frau Brigitte Meier was a pure delight!
My father taught me how to clean and shine shoes. He had a kit and I would clean his shoes which I thought was fun to do, getting the shine! And I do the same for myself. I learned a few new things. It feels good to take care of our items. Thank you ! I so enjoy your videos.
There were so many orbs around her which represents the spirit of her ancestors who were expressing their for her. There were also a few around Rajiv - especially his mother. This was very special and uplifting! ❤ 🕉
As usual Rajiv, great information- you’re in my head again - I don’t have those products but I have the leather cleaner and lotions from Wilson’s leathers- now I’ll try Germany’s way. Thank you!
Very interesting. I think this method would be meditative. Wondering if it would work on other leather things like a leather planner, briefcase or ladies handbag...not to get the high gloss but I am sure the method is nourishing the leather along the way and keeping it supple.
Yes Guy, I'm easing into the day, in Melbourne (going to work later) and enjoyed Rajiv's video immensely. Life is so much more enjoyable when one has the generosity & patience to enjoy learning...putting the skill/knowledge into practice and then the pleasure from sharing that skill/knowledge with an enthusiastic friend. Have a wonderful Sunday. 👱❤️
My dad learned in the army to shine his boots to a glossy shine. When he taught me he put on a little polish and a little spit from his mouth! It's called a spit shine and polish. I guess they didn't have water in their barracks back then. Great shine too. 😅
Rajiv, you have peaked my curiosity once again. The vlog bought back memories of my dad polishing his shoes. They were gorgeous. Thank you for that memory. Where could we find the Fred Meier polish in the USA?
You unfortunately can't find it in the US, but you might be able to order it online, from the Ed Meier website. You'll have to navigate checkout in German though, sorry!
Dear Rajiv, My Dad showed me how to do this when I was a little girl. We didn't use water we used "Spit & Polish" as he had to do with his army boots (WW2) !!
I've seen people spitting on the surface and keep rubbing and brushing their shoes. I was disgusted! But now I know why. A little moisture is important for the shine! Anyways, they should have been using water 💦 and wait a tad instead. The finish is incomparable. Rajiv: Did you buy that goat hair brush?
Just as I was packing up, Frau Meier went away for a few minutes and then returned with a large paper shopping bag with the shop's logo on it. Inside were four different colors of polish and two brushes, one of them the goat hair brush. I was so touched.
@@rajivsurendra What a sweet gesture! Now I can't wait to see your new clip on how to get your shoes shine to perfection. Hey, don't forget to sign up for Fraud Maier's upcoming tutorial. We would love to see that next year!
@SisterShirley We must be in the same age group. :-) I was a tomboy and I hated getting dressed up for Easter Sunday ... those shoes didn't stay shiny for long.
@@virginiaf.5764😂 I hated having to dress up for Easter. My poor mother, every year she would get me the most horrible, fluffy, ridiculous outfits ( dress, jacket or cape (!), hat, frilly socks and baby janes. And in return she got a foto of her sullen, frowning daughter dressed up like a doll. 😂
@@katella Oh yeah, those frilly socks! And hats! But I bet she still treasured those photos. I was a flower girl at my older sister's wedding - I was in a pretty little dress, but I was covered head to toe in calamine lotion because of a romp through poison ivy. There aren't many photos of me on that day, and I don't look very happy in the wedding party photo LOL.
Sigh. Your videos are a balm after the huge disappointment of the US election, Rajiv. While I watch, I forget for a while about America’s move towards fascism. The Germans must be rolling their eyes at history repeating.

This is how my father taught me. I have always used polish, water, and nylons.
