Sister I FEEL YOU!! Same thing happened to me! I felt defeated but this month was the first time I’ve had $100 to save. I had a $4500 emergency fund I had to use it all. The washer stop working, water heater went out and fell through a wall lol 😂, and my car was on it’s last leg. My husband and I repaired everything ourselves to save money. I had $2,679 in my 100 envelope challenge. That was used as a suv down payment plus used emergency fund money . The motor in the old car went out one month after I bought the suv lol 😂. Glad I did that!! I almost cried emptying those envelopes lol 😂. I need an emergency fund ASAP! That kept me from using my credit cards. Sometimes all I have is $5 to save. I have $80 in my wallet envelopes right now and I’m trying my best not to use it so I add to savings again. We have to remember we are STILL blessed!! I’m subscribing so I can watch your journey for encouragement. You can do this!!

Money has been a journey for me too. I ended a 15-year marriage six months ago and I was so scared to be on my own that I shut money down almost completely. I ate simply from scratch (food bills cut in half), cut and color my own hair (save $1000+ per year), and have been doing my laundry in my bathtub (save $2400 per year) . . . only to find that the money issue that plagued us our whole marriage wasn't my issue. I am abundant on my own.

I was homeless due to chronic health issues. I got a stable place now, 5 years. I still live off $500/mo alimony plus housing voucher and foodstamps. I make some extra money selling my art and crafts.
I started out with absolutely nothing,no car, no furniture, no TV, household etc .. I slowly found free furniture or cheap at thrift store. I took my time, built my own household, and now I have a life I am happy with. I still don't have a lot of money but I have self confidence, stable health, stability, great friends, and my dog. I live simple, no big extras but I don't have debt either.
I guess it depends on what you want out of life.
We start over many times in our lives for many reasons and is OK!

I’ve done it myself more times than I can think, because I’ve wanted to be happy in the moment - and I was! - but I always came back to $0 and it stresses me out. The time together likely was more worth it and need it. Sometimes you can just be so hard on yourself. You have the discipline to get back and that's what's matter. Shake that bad feeling right on off cause you can do it. Yes we do need to be discipline but leave room for just to decompress. Add you an escape/holiday/vacation fund for the next go around, because life be lifeing and you will need it. It's not worth arguing about, always think that if today was the last day you have time to spend with your loved ones. We all make hasty decisions because in truth, you likely needed a break too.

You’re going to bounce back! Keep up the good work. As a financial advisor, I’ve seen things happen when once spouse is the saver and the other is the spender. It can be hard. Especially, when the spender doesn’t have any discipline and pressures the saver. You will be alright. Setup a travel envelope. Maybe do a travel savings challenge. That way when he wants another trip, because he will, you can say how much is saved for travel. Pray, speak life, and do all you can do. Lock up the binders!

I’m so thankful I came across your channel. I’m a single mom on disability making $914 a month. By the time I get all my bills paid and everything my son needs for school, I have $170 left for the month. I get food assistance but, the price of groceries are outrageous so I use most of what’s left for food. I just decided yesterday that I’m taking $70 and putting it in envelopes. Most channels I come across they make it look like it’s so easy but, reality is what it is. Gods got us girl!❤

I go to multiple food banks and it helps! Stretch the food. For instance the food bank gives you the off brand grits. I buy real grits mix them together and it makes the grits last longer.

As a single person, sometimes I feel like I would be much further along on my financial journey if I had a partner. But sometimes, I don't know... It's been tough doing it solo dolo, we all learn as we go, I've started over multiple times, but managed to pay off debt, purchase a home, and build an emergency fund on a low-moderate income. Keep hanging in there, stay consistent, ubereats and doordash came in clutch, i love savings challenges, budgeting and couponing, currently renting out my spare bedroom for additional income, whatever we have to do. Stay encouraged, you got this!
