For years now, I have used my calendar app to remind me of birthdays for family and friends. I even use it to remind to contact them before a hospital visit, or some other significant event. Small things, but it means a lot and is always appreciated. Modern life is full of obligations, commitments, and distractions and these apps provide a modern solution to this modern problem. The fact you put an entry into your calendar, or to-do app shows forethought and that you care.
I am in my sixties and retired and find that I need more frequent reminders. This is a great way to not let these relationship to-do’s slip through the cracks. Remembering names and what we talked about is going to have a place now. Thanks for the good content and your personable delivery.
Love your videos. There is always some new method or capability in my tracking Apps; Things/Notes, that I didn't know before. I use a People area to store ideas like gift ideas that I will forget when their birthday or other occasion arrives if not in the App.
Great idea! This week I used my task manager to remind me how an ex-colleague’s job interview went (he got the job) and to call another ex-colleague to set up a coffee meeting to get her thoughts on an area where I may be interested in moving house. Also to ask her how her mum’s 90th birthday went.
I need to improve my relationship with todo apps in general. I hate using them. I still rely on my brain which works much better. Whenever I write or use a to-do list. Those things never gets it done. But if I keep it on my mind, they always get done.
A great video, please do not be influenced by the low views… I think many viewers did not watch because of the thumbnail, but it’s actually a great to do list video. Thanks.
Wow this is such a relief!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does this since I've always set reminders, taken notes, and created to-do's for my family + friends but have always felt guilty and embarrassed about it so this makes me feel like I'm not such a bad friend/person after all 😅
This is a great example of how to-do apps help with relationships. The problem with Todoist is the lack of start dates. Most of your examples should never have due dates, due dates should be for things that absolutely must be done by that date. Take for example your Julia to-do, it's not due next Friday it becomes available next Friday. Giving everything a due date only weakens the importance of a true 'must be done on that date' due date. Wishing your Dad happy birthday for example should have both a start date and a due date.
Very important, Peter, to take care of personal contacts in a more controlled and systematic way. Could this be implemented more effectively in Reminders, though?
"Relationships are too important to put in an App." I get that from some friends. I say they are too important *not* to put in an App.

It's a great idea. Might not work for everyone but they are plenty of people who would find this valuable

Thank you for the kind words Frank. I’m in my 30s and need the reminders-it’s good for anyone!
I just love your videos! This one is especially fun and wholesome. :) Keep up the good work!

In fact, it makes you a good person and friend!
@@PeterAkkies Thanks Peter, I try to be!! 😇
I am so happy I am on your to-do list :)
Always!
Be careful with this system. My wife saw my location-based reminder to pick up flowers for my girlfriend and got mad.
😂
Lol
Thank Peter it is great information that I really need. 😃

I agree, David. I also know the Todoist folks are working on it. Might take time though.
First comment!!
Subscribed and hit the bell. As always, super helpful tips.
Thank you Ashwani! (And congrats on having the first comment. 😉)
I've a useful filter set for this... '💬 Phone & Cards Soon' - '14 days & @Relationships'
Of course, it only works if you have a due date set😉

Would be about the same in Reminders, I think!
Ha ha, so that’s your secret! Honored to be on your todolist ;-)
Ssssh don’t tell anyone. Oh wait. 😂
Thank you so much
