You are the goat thanks
VT BOBBY What is the cause of the CEL from the transmission swap (I know you already have a CEL) ? I have a 2003 IS manual donor car to swap into my 2004 IS auto. I’m from NYC, so a CEL is a big no no. So whatever advice and/or tips you can give me, I would really appreciate! Just saw your video on the w55 short shifter and I couldn’t be happier! I was so upset when I looked up a short shifter for the w55 and they didn’t make one.
What kind of wiring did you had to do after the swap? ( speed sensor & etc) bout to do same thing with an 01 w/W55.
i just watched this whole thing and i dont even have a is300
Ditto!
me too lol
Same 🤣
same
same LMAO
This is probably going to be the best reference video for a manual swap
After months of fishing through the my.is forms only to find posts with expired photobucket images, and confusing text write ups.... someone finally made an entire video of the swap! Thanks alot dude, shits gonna be so easy now lmao
no problem bro glad i can help
VT Bobby is a Hero.
f%$k photobucket and their shitty behavior!!!
Cool thing its exactly same for Ls 400 /gs300 swaps I'm leaning towards Ls 400 and Gs 300
Man, you guys don't know how lucky you are that you don't have to deal with rust. I'm super jealous of how clean your cars are underneath down there. Brand new cars don't even look like that after a year up here. Good job with the swap, it's a good feeling when it's done. This reminded me of manual swapping my old 240 back in the day.
I use fluid film in case I see any coming up or forming on say the frame. I have a Canadian import vehicle with some light rust underneath and I will spray it with that occasionally. It has actually stopped the rust from re-forming or getting worse and will sluff off the old rust. I hope that helps you!
Pittsburgh, Pa here........ nd maaaaan do i feel this 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have been watching this video religiously to learn every step in this process because I plan on manual swapping my IS very soon and I’m mostly confused on the set up for the clutch pedal. This video is so much help!
Absolute best auto to manual swap on RUclips. Period. It’s even helping me do a 5 speed swap on a 4Runner
Zane is the true friend always coming in clutch
Zane is the best
Thanks for all the videos man. Just got my is300 manual swap done with zero problems. Your videos helped a ton!
What’d you do about the ecu? And how did you start it
Ben Doverson take the switch from the transmission and put it in neutral and leave it plugged in
I’m so glad I found this channel 6 months ago when I bought my auto is300
subs are going up after this forusre. well deserved
Tough choice. I have one. The manual is cool, but that is one of the smoothest automatics I have ever driven.
For me, the easiest way to install the clutch is flywheel > alignment tool > friction disc > pressure plate.
My guy came A LONG WAY
Congrats !
I really love the disclaimer in the beginning. Keep doing your thing!! I have a manual ‘03 IS300 so I feel your enthusiasm! I wave to do some upgrades and mods too.... tryna be like you 🤷🏾♀️
When you hear that carribean cadans, zouk music in the background.❤️
Great work! Awesome to see your trans all swapped in. Can't wait to see your impressions on how your IS300 feels to drive with manual
cubespeedequipment thank you I appreciate it!
Here’s the link to the Manual Pedals Install video if you guys missed it!
ruclips.net/video/haJU4wdgybU/видео.html
I will have to watch this entire video soon and come back to comment again. Good work so far from what I have seen. (:
Bobby congratulations man, HAPPY AND PROUD OF YOU MAN, been here since you had triple digit subscribers. Keep up the great work brotha. You movited me to manual swap my car🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you bro, i appreciate you watching all the videos! 🙏🏾
Oranges! Great video bro! Probably the best IS300 manual swap tutorial on RUclips right now. Gonna be using this as a guide if I swap my IS300!
thanks bro i appreciate it
Best tutorial on yt and the whole internet. Idk how other people have done it before. Wiring and emissions is what scares me.
This video got me heavy into working on cars. You helped me fix my broken auto lexus at 17😂 thank you
My auto to manual swap was different. I had a 2001 Automatic IS300 and then I bought 2 5MT IS300's. Super easy.
I heard on 01s you get a bunch of codes how did you go about getting rid of them? I’m about to purchase a 01 and I want to do a manual swap but I also live in a state that does emissions so I’m researching on to do the manual swap and get rid of cels
You did it. Mad props to you guys.
Im glad zane made it out alive and fritz... Freakin fritz...
Hands down the best manual swap is300 video. You deserve way more followers just based on that alone
Great information for people who have never removed a gearbox, but as you said in the intro don't be judgemental though so great stuff, was hard as have done this a thousand times and in my head am thinking don't forget the stand for gearbox, the transmission lines, the wiring, starter motor, disconnect the battery first, hope to see the 1jzvvti go in soon, doing the same to my is300 or maybe ls1 t56 6 speed still undecided as love the 1jz but nothing compares to a v8 noise.
Subbed after seeing the vid about what you’ll spend on parts for a manual swap... first vid of yours I’ve ever seen and I can tell you now your channel will grow in 2018. Great quality please keep it up. I’m looking at getting an IS300 after basic training, I should be home in July, so that will make for a fun summer project. Thanks for the tutorial!! Keep up the hard work!!!!!!
Only reason I would do this swap would be if I really wanted a Spectra Blue Mica IS300 because they were only made in '01 & the IS3 wasn't available with manual trans until '02. Forunately, I love the color of my Absolutely Red 5spd IS3, so no worries. Anyway, was still a nice video to watch. Good job!
Use the same canvas you used in your headliner for the shift boot. Or something super hero related
This is what I've been waiting for!
really impressed to see where your going :) good on you man! love this type of content
I appreciate it bro
Dope video! I did mine last year and had zero info on how to do it. Ended up getting it done in 6 hours..
I’ll say this, a half inch impact gun cuts this time in half.
Let that transmission hang and it will be fine .
Tip for dropping the trans, lower the car if you're on a lift then use a floor jack to slowly lower it
Gotta make a video of doing some donuts and a burn out to break it in real good
Many salutations!!! By the time this video had run its course, it was 04:00; still, I really enjoyed watching the whole process of interchanging an automatic transmission for a manual one. Considering how mechanically straightforward they are, a manual transmission should be the law of the land here in the United States just as they are in Europe; the initial learning curve to properly drive stickshift vehicles will do a lot to weed out the civilian motorists that are so clumsy at the helm that they should be terrified for their civilian motor authority. I have watched RUclips videos about how the automatic transmission and the torque converter work; while of impressive beauty at the mechanical level, I am of the conviction that the automatic transmission lowers the bar to where anybody can drive a motor vehicle -- and that is not good.
That being said, I am wondering a few things:
Is there not a technique for making the necessary preparations up top before elevating the vehicle?
How much leeway do you have when arranging for the manual transmission? I am fond of the dog-leg gearbox because the fact that 1st gear and reverse are neighbors makes the vehicle easier to park.
Is it possible to construct a center console around the shifter that has indications of which gear is which so that you have greater latitude of shifter knobs to choose from?
Still love this video, I will be returning when I’m ready my friend, thank you. Also appreciate the attitude throughout
Bro it's cool to see young Haitian mechanics, I'm one as well but I'm female. Good job guys #1804
Thanks for sharing brother, might be a little too late but its the two brown wires in the middle to trick the car that its in neutral.
Props my dude! What I’m trying to do to mine 😩. Can’t wait to see the 1j in there 👀
thanks bro
VT BOBBY why 1j not turbo 2j?
Glad you got your manual swap done I bet it feels good to get that accomplished and you're more proud of it that you done it yourself. Oranges.
Just got my manual swap done today on my sportcross ! Congrats B!
E.T's jdm House thanks same to you
Did you use the auto ecu or a manual one? I bought a auto 2j out of a 02 is with wiring and Im putting it in my mk2 supra just want to know if it will start and run with out having all the auto parts plugged in on the stock ecu? Or do I need a manual ecu?
Thank you for the great & informative video!!! Feel much more confident taking on this swap on my 02' IS now.
Yo that headliner is fire.
Maaaan I fucking love this channel already and ive only seen 2 videos so far 😂
Great video, now you need an lsd differential, saw the m96 back there.
Can’t believe I sat here watching this for 45 min lmao
Nice to see brothers working together
Beautiful car, owned one for many years, sadly had to sell it when I moved overseas and regretted it ever since.
Yo instant sub thank you so much this has been my dream car since I've been in high school and it's dumb I think to buy a manual because you know they were whomped on thank you so much brother man
Love the shit talking back and forth like the walk through nice job for first time
Very happy for you man. I'm hoping and crossing my fingers I can have a 5 speed in my is300 as well.
Still auto ecu? What about the speed sensor?
thats a brave dude working in a shop with flip flops on.....You can also use that neutral safety switch thing as a theft deterrent
jamaicanlovrboy I never thought of that
What about speed sensor? How you fixed that issue? 🤔
Love your channel, I have an ‘01 IS300 I’m building. You give me the inspiration and ideas I need for my build!
been watchin ya stuff for awhile..never commented before and i dnt own an IS but your vids are dope keep up the good work 👍🏿 .....watchin from CT
renford h thanks for watching bro 🙏🏾
Im in CT myself about to turbo my IS soon. But need to finish my supra build
Older video... but nicely done... remind ur viewers to disconnect the battery... and set e brake... it's just good habit. In the center console the same for auto and manual?
That exhaust is nice af. I have an SRT exhaust and it's super drone-y
DaFuhk thanks
I'm definitely doing a swap now
marcusscott17 did you? Lol
nice! thank you for sharing. i wish i could drive one of these (proper manual).
Very good video. Been looking for this for so long. I am trying to get a Lexus IS300 but I am not able to find good deals for the manuals. Thank you so much for a detailed video of a manual swap for the IS300.
Finally I was getting anxious 😓 already wating for you to finish this mission ... But I fucked with it (pause ) .....
This video gonna go viral!
Oh fuck yeah, congrats Bobby!! Sweet car man been watching a minute

THX HAITION BROTHERS
I wanted to build a drift car when I get older. I wanted to do an IS300 but none were manual. Thx for showing me how it's done.
#haiti
Hell yeah bro! Time to get that gte swap!!!
Did you do anything to the ecu?? Or does the automatic ecu works fine with the manual transmission please let me know ASAP
Daniel Bobadilla need manual ecu
9:10 - 9:30
I love this so much 💚💙💚
Great job, brother. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Do any lights come on the dash besides the CEL?
I love the brotherhood you keep...you got thinking should I do a swap on my gs..or buy an I.S.
Great video! Can you add some footnotes so people can reference where different parts of the swap is taking place, i.e. 2:34 clutch pedal install, 10:42 manual gauge cluster install.
lol @ 22.03 he said its tight then "thats what she said" LMFAOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good how to and good reference when i decide to swap the gs
ZZAAAAAAAANNNNNEEEE BACK IN THE MIX
When u installed the manual trans, did any of those auto transmission wiring harness plugs plug into the manual trans? Or are they just not needed after the swap?
Need help on this too
I know this is an old video, but thank you for making this. great video, I have a 2000 SC300 and this vid might be useful in a few years when I save up the crazy amount of money to do the swap haha!
Thanks for posting this vid bro, Can't wait to start mine, I have 95% of the parts so far.
Couple of questions:
Rear rubber trans mount- did you re-use from auto trans or buy separate?
Rear cross-member- Re use auto cross-member?
Is the car showing a CEL?
Do you have to turn the car to park to start, and turn to neutral to drive? Or can you leave in park?
Cheers Man
DatGui you can use the r154 Mount with the auto crossmember but only 2 holes will fit. I would say best think to do it’s to get the w55 mount and crossmember. My CEL has always been on but I’m sure it will trigger a CEL. It will start and drive then the dial is in park or neutral, doesn’t matter which one it’s on
You should talk to a seamstress and have one made for your car.
Absolutely love you headliner 😍💯
I'm new to your channel bro but I appreciate the real behind your videos. I just picked up my stock is tonight. Plan to use a ton of your videos to do my mods. Good job on the swap though
Been waiting on this vid, keep it up!
What did u do about the speed sensor
You two guys seem cool as...
Love from Australia! RHD
Instructions unclear now I have a turbo
This is a great video for any manual swap
Great video! Congrats on the swap. One thing bothers me... The shop has no lighting what so ever!! That is one of my pet peeves when working on a car in the shop.
What clutch kit did you use? And where did you get the flywheel bolts/clutch to pressure plate bolts
Great video brothaa. I’m actually trying to do a is300 build myself!! Definitely going to go the same route you did!
So you dont need the manual ECU
Apparently not said it drives fine in upper comment he replied
Bro doooope video nice explanation. Prob lame of me but I was waiting to see how the clutch pedal assemble was done. But really awesome man!
I might of missed it but did you get a manual ecu? Or does the auto one work fine?
Bro I need this answer
@@obxurv I got you. I did the swap or actually got it done but I’m running a auto ECU. I do have a check engine lights but the car seems to be running fine. My IS300 is 03+
@@obxurv I do have an ATEMU and resistors but haven’t installed them. Been driving since late April as is
@@ooodang180 yeah Idk can u get past 3k rpm? I heard u can use auto as long as you repin the harness or use a standalone that works with the auto
@@obxurv you definitely can I’m doing it now. I haven’t touched the ecu. The only wiring that has been touched is the neutral ground and reverse which are done under the car.
Yo thanks so much I'm about to do a1j manual swap in my is. Thanks a lot bro
You guys are dope AF! Such a fun and informative video.
2 things you could have done that I would have. First, power tools. My arms hurt from watching all the ratchet work. Second, better gloves. Love the video guys
What lights came on your dash after the swap? U didn't have to do an ecu swap? Why did u need to swap the gauge? Are u gonna change out the wiring harness or just drive like that? Allot of questions buddy. N I see u not really answering anyone on here that asks questions. Would be nice to get an answer. Thanx
Check engine light will come on when you do the swap unless you swap out the harness and ecu. Dont have to swap out the ecu. I've been driving it with the same auto harness for a year now with no issues. I'm not answering questions because most of them were asked months after this video was uploaded. This video is a year old lol I cant keep coming back to it to answer questions, some of which have been answered already
@@VTBOBBY Oranges 😎🤘
Congratulations man I’m about to sell my is300 really gonna miss it
A4 Frank For How Much? 👀
Thinking about selling mine it’s in poor condition tires are worn it has a shit ton of leaks cracked control arms my cylinder 4 isn’t firing and one of my cams is leaking plus my throttle body isn’t working just a ton of issues I want to complete rebuild it and swap it but it’s too much money idk man I wanna sell it but then I don’t
