Man this makes me want to do a cd009 swap on my GS 400! The hardest part will be the fact that I don't have a shop lift...
My rear sub frame broke on my 92’ sc400 im happy it did i was waiting for a reason to do this.

I’ve watched several videos on SC400 manual swaps and they all left me discouraged. This is by far the best swap tutorial on RUclips. Good job dude. Only questions I have are.. can you link the products you used to the video description and what are the torque specs for everything?
What are your plans for the diff and gearing? Weld? Or is there a used limited slip option from another Toyota besides the Supra? Something cheap and readily available at a junk yard?

I know the swap makes it quicker but nobody has confirmed how much quicker.
Since he hasn't answered I will go to autosportengineering he has kit or xat much better than Collins...get Torsen LSD supra TT automatic will fit your pumpkin your 3.92 gears are a bit short but acceleration is better. Or get clutch style tomei or kaaz. I can't speak for acceleration I was already modified before swap and manual
I have linked some of the products in the description, if you have any questions feel free to dm me on instagram. Plan to stick with stock 92 sc400 diff and just weld it. Torque specs would take some time to lay out but like I said my dm is open. Supra LSD is very pricey! Also I feel bad for the guy who went with auto sport engineering kit

What was total cost to install manual transmission, and everything else needed for the swap?
It would be pretty much the same process on a ls400 right?
A manual sc400 is my dream car. I'm hoping to find one with a non-vvti 1UZ in the coming year.
Is the VVTI undesirable?
@brananandreu4086 stock it's really good. In regards to aftermarket support you're probably better of with a non vvti engine. It depends on what you're going for really. I really wouldn't say the vvti is undesirable.
May I ask what clutch are you using? Is it from a 350z or 370z?
Great video loved all the helpful tips you included as well. I have made the decision to do the swap. But stuck on to buy new or used. As someone who has bought both new and used models. Would you recommend buying new one or just get a lower milage used one?
I’ve had quite a few issues with used ones. So if it were something I planned on keeping for long term. I would go New because they’re not that much more. $1000 for a decent used ones now a days and $1800ish for a brand new one that you know works

I don’t think so on this vehicle, if I didn’t put it in the video I didn’t have too. On some Is300’s I have but not a whole lot since these kits use the factory bell housings

Great video! I'm curious - why a Collins kit instead of - say -a XAT kit? Also, I see that is a non-VVTI SC. Would there be any difference if you had a VVTI car? How's that Nakamichi stereo holding up?
I have had a Collins Kit on my IS300 without any issues for 5 years so I was familiar with it and know it works. The process should be the same for the VVti. The amp failed and the whole stereo system was updated with aftermarket parts
@@KBNZUS understood. I keep flip-flopping on whether to go with an XAT or a Collins kit for my '93 and possibly my '99 SC400 cars.

@@KBNZUS Thank you for the information, I only ask because I just did a cd009 swap in my truck and I am having some issues with it into 5/6 gears, I put redline MT85 in it, I seen a few people going with the MT90 because of the issues I am having, I might look into oem fluid.

You are correct but it was not mine and its gone now lol
What wires for the reverse lights? Also, what about the RPM and speedometer?
RPM works without anymore. speedo you need to use a gps sped from summit. Reverse wires need to be wired from the cd009 reverse switch to the sc400 reverse pinout. I have yet to install these things
@@KBNZUS Of course, RPM is engine speed. What am I thinking. So just the speedometer to work out. Hope you put up a vid of the reverse light. After watching your video, I feel pretty confident in doing this myself.
@@Mister_Y buy the autometer gps adapter wire it in just when u go underpass or tunnel your speedo will cut out
Just out of curiosity now that you have a 6 speed manual did mpg improve from the extra gear or is the ratio still short to where there’s no improvement. Ik it’s an odd question but just curious
I never really got to test, I sold the car but I’d say I got worse gas mileage after just because I was more in the throttle with the short ratios and it being more fun to drive. It was a weekend car for me not a daily
are you torquing any of the bolts?
I torqued flywheel and clutch, I have done a lot of these swaps and have been working on cars for awhile so the rest is just off feel
Ok wait at 18min 18 sec he puts the sealet on the outside of the bolt holes thats a no no it can leak out of the bolt holes for anyone whos is wanting to know how to really seal things

In this video I just had the stock rear section off from when I had the trans out. All stock other then that
Is that manual transmission loud in the SC400? I've heard they make strange noises when swapped.
they're noisy transmissions when you get rid of the factory dual mass flywheel, I ended up using a lot of foam around the shifter area under the boot to dampen the noise

yes! way nicer then the stock auto. the only thing I don't like about the cd is the noise, but that can be solved with a lot of sound insulation in the shifter area and maybe a full face clutch instead of puck clutch if you want a factory feel.
Are you using the stock driveshaft?
No cd009 uses custom driveshaft
Does the trans Chadder at all ?
Yes the CD gets noisy without the dual mass flywheel. I put a lot of foam around the trans tunnel to quiet it down
What diff are u using and if so if you have 400-650 hp sc400 cd009 what diff is the best for streetablr daily and boosted car
Just the stock open diff for now
3.92 lsd torsen diff is very short gears 1st very short and 2nd I had 400-500hp before I blew it up....3.26 longer gears more evenly spaced but you will lose acceleration...engine not diff blew up
