Communities generally hate their own gadflies & mavericks, because it seems like ‘infighting and spite’, but if we step back and look at that communal role of gadfly, it’s a very important role to keep a community strong, AND ESPECIALLY because it’s a VERY unpleasant role, most people will avoid it, therefore that’s why people like Destiny are important: cuz almost nobody has the personality suited to being a gadfly continuously. People try it like once or twice and say ‘wow never again.’ almost all communities need a gadfly to prevent them from getting too self-congratulatory. But almost nobody wants to do that. Hope that makes sense.

Gotta admit, I forgot how completely bad faith Vaush was in the Kyle Rittenhouse case. "If someone is pointing a gun at you but hasn't fired, you should not assume they have lethal intent." Rule 1 of gun safety: "Don't point your gun at anything you don't wish to destroy." If you brandish a firearm in someone's direction, you have lethal intent otherwise you are an irresponsible gun owner. But Vaush has probably never shot a gun, let alone learned the basics of gun safety; so I'll just call it ignorance (which is pretty par for the course for him.)

I don't know if this has been said yet but everybody's issue with Destiny isn't that he is mean, it's that he's mean to the wrong people. In all the examples people give, he's being mean specifically to leftists or at least people the left defends. Nobody cares that being mean is standard practice for everyone in regards to the right. It's not a good thing for him, especially if it sticks long term; the loss of income to him is both material and substantial. If you set aside the effects to Destiny as a person and care only about the causes for which he frequently champions, I would still say it's not a good thing.

It's incredibly scary how out of reality some people really are. Why does it feel like there's a genuine attempt to gaslight people to believe destiny is some mean boogeyman. It's kinda insane how many people hold Destiny to this incredibly high standard where he can be doing so much to ban people from the community if they harass other creators, correct statements about people he dislikes that he made or sometimes just retweeted even though he has everything to gain and nothing to lose by lying about them, defend people he dislikes against common misconceptions about their past and current opinions and still get shit on for doing too little.
Meanwhile almost no other politics creator ever does anything even remotely close to that level of charitability.
They constantly lie about Destiny (as demonstrated once again in this very video) and they never walk it back until the position becomes completely untenable (which more often than not is the first direct confrontation) and even then they rarely if ever actually say they were in the wrong.
They keep interpreting and misrepresenting his points in the worst possible ways without ever giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Some actually send hateful people after him and none of them ever ban anyone no matter how egregious their attacks against him are, be it everyday insults, bigotry or death threats.
