I'm 36 and remember 2001 internet with Geocities pages, and despite how "wild" the internet was back then, it was way more civil and respectful than it has been 2016-present. It's like, when you let people do whatever they want without restrictions, people will tend to moderate themselves, as opposed to having assholes moderate things "for them" that only cause division and disagreement. The internet was wild prior to 2009, but it was also much more polite and nicer, too.

From what i understand, net neutrality basically prevents ISPs from slowing, blocking or paywalling internet content. Without net neutrality, these companies basically have your internet experience on a leash. If a provider doesnt like a certain site, bam. You cant use that site. If the internet provider wants to charge you extra to visit certain sites, they can now do that. The only thing we’ve really seen happen on a large scale is the blocking as of now, but nobody really cares because like destiny said, it only really happens to fringe sites like KF.

I'm willing to bet you probably don't actually have that accurate of an idea concerning how people on KF act and that your personal understanding is mostly influenced by hearsay and not experience. KF at its core is an archive of information and a place to talk about weird/gross people who make a spectacle of themselves on the Internet. There is no one political affiliation or social ideology among the users. KF consists of an extremely diverse set of people from around the entire world and the topics found there range the full gamut of beliefs and philosophies. But to be honest, I'm not familiar with what Kiwi Farms of what it was in the year 2000s, this was before I’ve been told Kiwi Farms was a right wing site targeting people who don’t disagree with them. But still it’s not Destiny and Null’s fault for this, and still the internet was a lot cool back in the 2000s it was weird, crazy and sometimes wild but still cool. I’m sure if you pushed him on it he’d agree generally. The problem is with the toxic way people engage with the platforms. Kiwifarms by its nature probably attracts more of those people than yt or twitch because it’s less mainstream and requires a certain level of cultural buy in to become a regular user. Selection bias.
I don't think that's a proper argument at all when you consider that most kids and adults alike (in Europe/North America) frequent a certain RUclipsr's channel or streamer's stream that they consider they favourite (though probably not the the point of viewing it obsessively). In a way it really isn't all that different from tuning in to your favourite soap opera or radio broadcast. If your generalization was actually true then a large fraction of the population would consist of mentally unstable losers.

From what i understand, net neutrality basically prevents ISPs from slowing, blocking or paywalling internet content. Without net neutrality, these companies basically have your internet experience on a leash. If a provider doesnt like a certain site, bam. You cant use that site. If the internet provider wants to charge you extra to visit certain sites, they can now do that. The only thing we’ve really seen happen on a large scale is the blocking as of now, but nobody really cares because like destiny said, it only really happens to fringe sites like KF.

Okay, I'm going to go out in the lamb here, but for Destiny and Null speaking about this of their time running the Kiwi Farms site, at least they explain their side of the story. But to be honest, I'm not familiar with what Kiwi Farms of what it was in the year 2000s, this was before I’ve been told Kiwi Farms was a right wing site targeting people who don’t disagree with them.
But still it’s not Destiny and Null’s fault for this, and still the internet was a lot cool back in the 2000s it was weird, crazy and sometimes wild but still cool. But the internet today is a bit like a concrete block of information but heavily strictly controlled. Well, 2010 was a bit of mellowish like state in the internet, but still grows and grows like a plant.
And sadly 2016 changed all that and basically, it felt as though it would take years to heal open wounds.
KiwiFarms is a drama/"gossip" (debatable use of the phrase when there is always reciepts posted) site centered on internet culture icons (specifically to make fun of them).
