      I kinda liked the "top 8" and stuff some social some previous social media sites had. Instead of everyone just being a "friend" - you could be like "but these are the people I actually like and hang out with" lmao. Yes, sure - whoever was the 9th and 10th person might feel let down a bit -- but that's part of life.
      Same feeling about star ratings rather than just "thumb ups/thumbs down". There are different degrees of how much people like something, and different degrees of closeness for friends and acquaintances.
      Worse yet, we are seeing a trend towards not even thumbs up and thumbs down -- the removal of the "dislike" button.
      There is something to be said against a bandwagoning or crowd mentality in regards to "I like/dislike this because everyone else does" - but I don't think removing this kind of information is the right way to go.

      I know nothing about this guy Destiny's talking with, but he reeks of 'fair weather friend'. Seems like, just like Vaush, he was friends in order to associate with Destiny when he was one of the biggest names in the leftist political debating sphere; then when the association pumped up his numbers and gave him the clout needed to stand on their own, the 'friendship' was purely indifferent. Then, at the first sign of trouble, you use it as an opportunity to grow even more by throwing them under the bus.
      It's extremely dishonest and a clear betrayal, but given how dishonest and toxic the leftist sphere is these days, it's sadly par for the course.

His bread and butter is proofreading and editing college papers, this is a very specific niche which doesn't really translate into other things very well. He is used to looking at words on paper(or on a screen) where he doesn't have to worry about tone of voice or real time communication and interpretation of information being exchanged. banned... your twitter is super toxic and edgy, I hate the jokes and I really hate how bad they make you look when I know that how you present yourself on that website doesn't align with reality one to one... then I just said that technically according to the tos u should be banned already to further justify my feelings"

  • @Woodzta
    @Woodzta 2 года назад +27

    Why is Book debating why he should or should not be *banned* instead of just 'not on Twitter'? It's ceding unnecessary ground and putting himself in an unwinnable position where you can only sound dishonest to dispute it. If you think he shouldn't be on Twitter, stick with that. Don't get dragged (or walk willingly) into a debate about ban evasion when you don't know anything about it, then stack that with bad behaviour as another 'reason'.
    That being said, I don't really understand Book's position. If ban evasion/TOS is a problem, his behaviour is irrelevant. If his behaviour is a problem, the TOS is irrelevant.

    I also just fundamentally disagree with what he considers improving debates. I mean, some of it is good, but I'm more in the Mr. Girl camp when it comes to how debates need to change. Book wants people to be more "fake" for lack of a better word.
    That said, Destiny is doing one annoying Mr. Girl thing here where no matter what Book says, Destiny just keeps saying "that's not what you think, only I know what you think." You literally can't argue with someone once they start saying that.

Because let's be real, there are no unjustified bans from social media platforms. Social media platforms can create and enforce whatever TOS they want, and no one has the unalienable right to have an account on any social media platform. In a real-life arrest however, an arrest can easily be unjustified since it can violate a person's right to liberty without legitimate reason. It always makes me chuckle when people on the left refer to the US and Europe as “better countries than Mexico” 😂
    Next week this guy will be calling for someone (on the Right) to be banned for saying the same thing 😂

    I hate these arguments when it comes to social media bans. “If you broke the TOS of (such and such website) then you deserved to be banned” I think this is a major cop out and a very naive and simplistic way of looking at things. TOS is similar to IRL laws, people break tons of laws that are on the books everyday, the only reason they don’t get charged is because no one is going to enforce said rules. Websites like RUclips and Twitter are the same, they have a ton of different rules and they are purposely made vague. So you can make tons of arguments that a ton of people have broken TOS yet haven’t been banned. There have been plenty of examples and debates about people breaking TOS on different websites yet not getting banned for it. So I think you need to bring up a moral or practical argument for why said person should be banned instead of the cop out answer of “Oh well he broke TOS”.

      @dylaroo24 2 года назад

      @@noahthenormal I was trying to point out there are laws that people break everyday without knowing because laws rarely if ever get taken off the books. For example where I live it's technically illegal to fly a kite, yet the cops never say anything, no one does. So I'm using this fact to argue that in my opinion a law needs to have a practical or moral benefit to society in order to be considered justified. I don't think this is a very extreme take either. For example if suddenly your area made a law that says you can't drive any vehicle inside your town/city, do you think anyone would enforce or obey a law like that? It makes no sense and would just be a major lose to society. So I think in order to justify a law there needs to be a reason, be it moral or practical.

You get arrested for escaping from jail. Now you're in jail because you escaped from jail it's justified. Again either way I don't think you should be banned.
