appreciate the in-depth review ! the next version of this watch navigation will be better than garmin, seeing how even now it loads faster. even the main UI is faster than garmin too. just needs a speaker !
Just received mine today, totally blown away by the capability packed in to it. Is there a way to view my route wihtout being in an activity mode? The route I want to check is very far away from my current location.
Interesante video, la explicación que leí respecto a la carga de los mapas, es que en el caso de garmin estos vienen con mapas mucha información y el resto tiene sólo imágenes de mapas por eso funciona más fluidos
Question ... Is someone tried downloading maps by connecting to phone hot spot? I tried to did that and it's not downloading by phone internet ... It resets ... Only by home wifi
... the mapping here seems to be only a "map picture" with an overlay of your planned route. It is a whole different thing in Garmin watches as you have full mapping and the watch also knows streets and all data. The Garmin knows which street you go and wich is the next street to turn. The Amazfit only knows some GPS Points form the uploaded GPX file and make an overlay above the map image... (for most cases it is great enough!) So if you know that it is a turn on the map, navigate and give direction infos. If you only have som GPS Points, you can not decide if it is a turn/crossing etc...
Just try it. I did put half of Belgium in one singel map without any problem. Will try even bigger next map upload, as you have more than enough memory to even put whole Europe at once.
What is the walk feature on the phone. If I park my truck at an event, can I use the walk feature on my phone to go to the venue, than later use the walk feature to go back to my truck?
just setting up maps on t-rex 3. On the iPhone Im not showing an option for map management, mine just gives me "maps". Is that just the way Apple lays the app out with a different name?
If you want more from your T-Rex on any field, mapping, sports tracking etc. just buy a real Garmin. The T-Rex with maps does really look good with its specs on paper, but in reality you see how much it is missing when you for instance try to navigate or create running routes in the area around you.
Is it Openstreetmap that is used? If that is the case then everyone can contribute and map the roads/trails that they feel are missing. Garmin uses ODM as well so things that are added into OSM will skso benifit the garmin community
Too fast and he doesn’t show which buttons he’s pushing as he scrolls thru the map options. Basically he’s talking to himself instead of helping folks new to the watch.
Great job clear, nice overview! Thanks
While running mode is it possible to see the map?

Would take quite a bit for it to be better than Garmin's mapping.
Won’t even be close to Garmin in 10 years time .Amazfit software isn’t the best it’s so basic.
A long way to go. I have an Amazfit and had a Garmin. Amazfit has a long way to go, hardware and software and brand trust.
@@HorizontalLifestyle what Garmin have better is navigation (maps) points of interest offline, no one company have.
Is there a way to use the map without starting an activity ?
There is no specific 'Navigation' in activities.
Yes, there is ”Map” in the main menu.

Can i use the watch in a place where there is no internet. The map will come handy or not?
It has offline mapping capabilities, but works differently than Garmin
What's the strap that you have here ? I see it's much flexible and you can put the watch with band flat on the table.
It from Amazfits website
Are u using the adapters from the box for bracelet ?
I am. They work excellently
@@Fredsreviews58 Such a poor quality in the plastic :( i had a metal ones on t rex 2 but they don t fit :(
@@Fredsreviews58 Do u know if they will launch more variants of color like t rex 2 ? / ultra ?
Can you select a point on the map by using the watch and set to go there like garmin does?
Unfortunately not.
Not yet or never due to the kind of map layer they use.
Hello, is there a manual LAP function during activities? Back button maybe? :)
There is no "profile" tab on my Zepp app. Only Device, home and others. No profile.

I just don't understand why you can have a map on your watch but you cannot use it for navigation is that so hard to do

You can import routes for navigation, so to speak
@@Fredsreviews58 Yeah but that is not that i mean if is using Google maps why there is no option to use it for navigation
Hello. How large map areas can be uploaded onto the watch, and how many of such areas can be uploaded ?
Just try it. I did put half of Belgium in one singel map without any problem. Will try even bigger next map upload, as you have more than enough memory to even put whole Europe at once.
Have you had any issues with connecting to wifi from the watch when the network has a password?
I've only done it once to download the maps, and had no issues. It worked very well
@@Fredsreviews58 yes, mine is intermittent. But after reconnecting the wifi stayed stable and the map downloaded.

If you're talking about under "my tools" in the app, it's just a way to track a walking activity without the watch
@@Fredsreviews58 Yes, It would be nice to go back to a point with a larger screen than the watch. I cannot find a way to do it?

7:15 so the maps in the app are not the same as those that get transferred to the watch ?
Same maps, but for some reason my watch isn't showing the trails in my area. Once the workout is done, the map on the workout history in the app does
@@Fredsreviews58 Must be a bug then ? Had you transferred the 3 types of maps ?
@@Peakabike Yep, all 3. I'll have to try some more hikes near me. It hopefully just didn't know the trails I was on
it's seem the maps on the watch it's not updating 🤔

nahhh... Used the Trex 3 for 2 weeks now....the watch is on par with my Garmin.
