1 pound ground beef
salt, pepper, cumin, garlic, Chili powder
1/2 chopped onion
1 chopped bell pepper
32 oz. tomato juice
6 oz. tomato sauce
15 oz. can black beans
15. oz can red beans
salt, pepper, 1 t. each, cumin, garlic, Chili powder
cheese
cornbread
2 cups self rising cornmeal mix
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 egg
1/4 cup oil
4 oz. green chilis
1 cup shredded cheese
400, 20 to 30 minutes

Asking for prayers for my family. My great-grandson (he had stage 4 neuroblastoma when he was one year old) has been taken by ambulance to the hospital last night and again this morning morning. This morning his father was also taken by ambulance to the hospital. My granddaughter is 5 months pregnant and she is also sick. As is my daughter and my granddaughter’s mother-in-law. They all have Influenza A. They have it really bad. Please pray for my family. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I can't wait to have a kitchen to cook in again. Since the housefire we had we were having to eat out and that's something we never did. I always cooked at home. We all ended up getting sick so I finally brought a crockpot to the hotel room where we're staying. It's the only way I can make homemade dishes right now but at least we aren't eating at restaurants. God bless you both. 🙏
I understand completely what you’re going through, we had a house fire in 2017 and lost everything. Hotel life and not having home cooked meals just turned everything upside down. Praying for you.

I do this to stretch leftover chili. Served with a salad, my family loved it. Putting the chilis in the corn bread mixture is such a good idea. Definitely going to do that the next time I make it! I also serve it with sour cream and pico de gallo.

Looks so delicious. Miss Lori I chuckled when you put the hamburger to cook. I've long ago forgotten how many times I've cooked frozen hamburger. I'm looking forward to making this. I have to get self rising cornbread mix & buttermilk. I only have cornmeal that I use for cornbread I never new they had mixes. I'm anxious to try it. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

As soon as I saw this, I knew I would try it. I grew up eating cornbread with chili, but my husband did not and doesn't like if I make it.
I made this one night and OMG! It is so tasty and easy! My 18 year old son absolutely loved it and asked me to add this to my cooking repertoire. My husband even liked it, despite his opposition to cornbread with chili. Only person who didn't like it was my 13 year old daughter, who just doesn't like cornbread, period. I'll be making this again very soon! One of my new favorites! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you everyone for your prayers. Physically everyone is getting better. It’s slow progress but definitely an improvement. One is suffering from mental anguish because of having to see my great-grandson so sick.
Thanks for the update. Progress, no matter how small, is a good sign. I’m sure the mental stress of the situation is greatly compounding everyone’s health. Be sure you take very good care of yourself right now, because someone has to take care of so many sick people. Sending more prayers. 🙏✨

@theheartoftexas2478 unfortunately I’m over an hour away and no transportation to get there. My granddaughter’s father-in-law is taking care of everyone. So far he hasn’t succumbed to the influenza A. My great-grandson’s doctor decided that she needed to see him to be sure that everything is okay. He had stage 4 neuroblastoma when he was one. His team of doctors are still keeping a very close eye on him. He’s now 3 years old. In February 2023 it will be 2 years since his last chemotherapy treatment. He is currently cancer free!! Praise God!!!

Thank you Miss Lori for sharing this recipe with us. I have a Cherokee friend, a real Cherokee and this is the method she shared for making “Indian Bean bread”. I have never thought to use chili place of home made beans, which are delicious of course, but the Chili sounds SO yummy.
