Yessss! I need more of these substitution videos. I don't live near any asian supermarkets, so things like dashi, konbu, dark soy sauce, chinese black vinegar, etc, are very difficult to acquire. Thanks Marion!
I've been trying to diet recently and being a foodie I've always found diet food not really satisfying.. What I love about your videos is that you give us all of the details and techniques so I've been following your recipes and substituting some lower calorie alternatives and I never knew healthy food could taste so delicious!! Thank you Marion :)
I am curious as to why your thoughts immediately turn to thinking that caloric content values directly relate to the healthiness of a dish. Calories are *not* a measure of healthiness, they are a basic measurement of energy. They are not even so simply tied to weight and body fat control. You need to care about macro- and micro-nutrients if you want to actually make/eat healthy foods. I wish you all the best in your quest; there are tons of great, healthy, and flavorful methods and concepts of cooking from all over the world; you can find delicious flavor and have it with healthy food with any culture's herbs, spices, and preparation techniques. Good luck on your journey, Ahmad! :)
@@tiredoftheliesalready calories are not a measure of healthiness, however if you are overconsuming calories that are above your maintenance calories you are over eating regardless of the macronutrients. Unless you are trying to bulk up or grow bigger, the lower calorie versions are what keeps your calories low to help you lose weight while skimping out on like only 10% of the flavor. Although if you arebt balancing your macros then thats a problem too.
I have started following so many recipes of yours,i like the fact that you dont stick to one particular ingredient, instead give alternatives which we normally have at home as we dont consume alcohol or get our hands on authentic asian sauces. It turns out to be super delicious. Love you
Thanks for making this easy-to-understand video. I had a sudden craving for donburi, but only had the basic ingredients like eggs, chicken, soy sauce, and rice. You’ve obviously been there, done that, and it came out fine.
Love it so much! Nothing like a warm serving of Oyakodon to brighten any day. Id eat this with a bit of japanese five spice too (and a bit of cayenne if I want a bit more heat)
I saw this and just knew I had to have this for lunch, I've just finished eating it and I didn't realise an omelette could be this flavourful! I'm in love I'll definitely be adding this to one of my regular lunches, ps I'm vegetarian so I substituted the chicken with mushrooms and turned out just great
Thanks for another winner Marion, it was spot on quick, easy, tasteful, minimal ingredients week night recipe. Another of your awesome recipes added to my favs. 🥰👏👏👏
Hi Marion, do you have a good recipe like this for kimchi and for beef bulgogi please? Sometimes hard to find all the ingredients for those. Thank you for all the great recipes you give us, so much appreciated 🥰
I'm defenitily trying this tomorrow for lunch!! It looks amazing!!! 😍 and it's so easy to make... perfect combo!!! Besides ramen, this is one my favourite japanese meals ❤❤❤
I love Japanese food but because of those 3 items that they always put in their dishes, I have to put off my plan cooking Japanese. Thank you for the substitution. Gonna try this recipe for lunch today. Can I request for easy ramen. No obligation though 😊.

OMG thank youuuuuu I wanted to make this for so long but I can't find dashi at my asian store!
What type a rice do you use for this dish??
Hi Marion! One question, is this the same as oyakodon?
My easy oyakodon = bottled tsuyu concentrate (Japanese soup stock) + Costco roast chicken 🍗🥚🍚😆
What about ginger? It's also easy to get and really makes the difference.
Marion i can't believe you didn't use fish sauce in your fast dashi, I recommend it a lot ;)
I can't let my husband watch anymore of your videos. That's it, I'm drawing the line.
LOL
HER VOICE IS ASMR!!!
