Kunihiro ROCKS! this dish was AWESOME! We love the step by step instructions. We added some salted cucumber for a counterpoint at service but that’s just us. I’ve done many of your recipes and they’ve all been fabulous. Keep going. We want more.

Much gratitude: my husband and LOVE THIS as breakfast at the start of a long day or for midday meal lunch,,,,,FABULOUS THANK YOU AND everyone who worked to bring this recipe to us. Amen
I really liked your video, very easy to follow steps, I always ate this dish in a small restaurant near my House in Roppongi, Tokyo, I lived in Japan for almost 6 years teaching salsa dance as an instructor and I miss the food so much, I learned how to cook Japanese food because I missed it so much, went to cooking school, now I’m a certified graduated chef in Oriental Cuisine, your video is almost the same as I make it, I top it with a fresh raw yolk in the middle, delicious!
I ran out of eel sauce yesterday, and that made me wonder when Kunihiro would grace us with another video. I feel very blessed that he has posted it today. it's been a while, but Kunihiro is focused on quality ☺️ this recipe is great and the demonstration doesn't leave out any important detail!
Thank you for this lovely recipe. I’m so glad I found your channel! I love how you get into details when it comes to the cooking timing and appearance of the ingredients, it just makes it so much easier to reproduce your recipes at home. Please keep introducing your followers to those great japanese recipes ❤

I have been making Oyakodon for many years and your version of oyakodon is much much more flavourful. I also love the sauce without any sugar added. The sauce from other recipes is way too sweet. Thank you for this video, it’s one of my favourite dishes just because it’s so quick and easy to make! I’ve heard that oyakodon is one of the first dishes many Japanese people learn how to cook because it’s very simple and fast, is that true? I have a friend who was an exchange student in Japan, he said that his host family taught him so many delicious dishes and that he still keeps in touch with them today as they were so welcoming and kind.

Thank you for posting this recipe and detailed steps 👍
Hello! Thank you so much for coming back. I'm happy to hear from you. Please try my recipe. It won't disappoint you. You might find the broth is a little too strong while cooking my recipe. But the broth has to be a little strong since you are eating it with rice. That way, you won't feel something is off. 😊
I tried the gyudon recipe and my family loved it, wants me to cook it more often. After watching your Oyakodon video I’m going to try it too! Thanks for these easy to follow recipes!
Hi Kunihiro, I am new sub but I am addicted. You are the best.👍 I even send your videos to my husband so he'll watch and learn from you. 😄 I also like that you respond to comment! I have 2 questions.. what is that little orange dingy with your finished dish? and what do you suggest for veggies with this meal? 🙏
Thank you for watching my video. Answer 1: orange little thingy is my buddy Charmander. Answer 2: Usually served with miso soup and some pickled radish. That's it. A very simple Japanese everyday meal.😊
I once had a japanese exchange student come and stay with me and she taught me how to make this recipe, I always wondered if she taught me correctly. I believe that I put a little sugar in mine. I like the idea of soaking the chicken in Sake. We did not do this step. But the rest of it was right on! Thank you so much for teaching me to debone a thigh.!! I always have trouble doing that. Now I know how. I love this dish. It is one of my very favorite dishes.
Adding sugar to broth is a personal preference. And soaking chicken in sake is my original. So, I think she taught you the recipe correctly. But please try my version, too. It's delicious. 😋
I will master this dish - next time! My chicken had no skin and I ended up with too many liquid-ish ingredients for my little oyakodon-pan with its little wooden handle sticking up. Definitely had too much salt in mine, either the dashi or the soy sauce were more than needed. BUT, hey, the meat WAS incredibly tender!!! So, thank you, Kunihiro! This was a very good instruction! I think I'll get good results just using 1/3 of all the amounts with my little pan instead of 1/2. Next time!
I really enjoyed your version of this recipe, especially 1) the step where you sear the chicken before adding to the broth and 2) how you create multiple layers of doneness in the egg Would be great to see a video on turning your katsu into katsudon. And a video on poke bowls, but I know that may not be traditionally Japanese

I hav used 7 egg 🥚,& one bigger onion 🧅 7 green onions, 1/2 of red bell peppers, for just appetizing. Looks good taste good yes😊? I also used one can of chicken,Broth w/ 1/2 c of water. NO Chicken?! Chicken?! Use chicken, broth . Guess what ? It okay! Not bad at all. I have used double say, sake, mirin,& sugar. Next week I will make it with CHICKEN! @@sushibykunihiro7534 Hi, mr,H. Guess what ? The OYAKODON, with out the chicken. Why? Because I forgot to take the chicken out of freezer 🥹. My family liked it so , with CHICKEN, they will love ❤️ it . Thank Y😋U , for the AWSOM recipes. I will let you know next weeks OYAKODON,w/ chicken😊.
