You're so real omg thank you GOD! there is more to youtube than makeup routines and beauty hauls so im glad i found yoU! also recently downloaded the self control google chrome app and that is a life saver. you recommended it so gracias chica ;)
Glad someone finally sat my ass down. I stated watching the part about study hygiene everyday before my studying for my mcat and have never been more productive. I have been doing it for a week and i feel like I have a life again. Thanks and looking forward to more videos :)
I'm an engineering student but your last tip gave me an AHA moment. I have set 8 hours for sleep in my schedule but then I always have a difficulty sleeping even after a day of studying, working out, etc. So thank you so much!
you are seriously amazing. I am currently a pre-med student, mom, and wife studying for the MCATS and in school full time. Your tips are awesome and help me a lot plus you keep me motivated!!
this is JUST what i needed to hear Im in my first year of basic sciences, and when you said the reason why some med students burn out is because they study way too much, that's me right there. I was an elite athlete up until about 2 and a half years ago, but as soon as i joined med school i abandoned my fit lifestyle and just studied studied all the time..sat in the library all day studying, and although my grades so far have been really high, the burnout has been VERY real, almost to the point where you ask yourself "what am i suffering for?" Im the kind of person that loves to laugh, go out with friends and stay fit, but all this seemed to go out the door when i began med school, and i know now that sacrifice is good, but there also has to be a healthy balance. I will be starting my term 2 next week, and been really thinking of ways to implement a healthier lifestyle. Med school is a marathon and not a sprint, and watching this has given me a lot more insight into how to live a better life while pursuing this dream, so thank you for that :)
Good for you! Each year of med school gets better and better (in my opinion) and I am sure you will find that healthy balance. I always say I love medicine but I don't want it to be the only thing that I love. Good luck!
You kept this so real with the 5:34 bit haha! Currently uncertain about what health career I'll end up in, but this helps no matter what path I go down!
I am a med student in Switzerland and I just failed my yearly exams because I just could not get molecular cell in my head. I am now studying for the redo exams but ugh... I am in such a motivational low and I am afraid if I fail again I am banned from studying medicine... Also insomnia is real annoying... I used to watch stuff but I am afraid the stuff I studied gets lost. ugh the struggle... thanks for the video :)
I'm so sorry. Medical school is hard, it is hard for everyone. Just focus on the things that you can control - work ethic. If the material is not sticking than you need to find a different approach. Study smarter! not harder. Good luck
i just started watching your videos. You are such a lovely/open-hearted/beautiful person inside and out and I am looking forward to seeing more of your videos !
OMG I just discovered your channel and its so similar to mine! And I totally agree with all the stress issues... 😂😂 So cool to see other country's med school💕 Cant wait for more!
I love the notebook idea you have! I have been looking/needing something simple and straight forward to help keep me organized. Hi, I'm new to your channel and I hope you don't mind me snooping around and watching your other vlogs! lol
visited your channel after watching this video- I'm totally going to subscribe and keep on watching :) Love your attitude, and thanks for the advice! I'm not in medical school (yet!), but this is going to serve as some motivation to keep working hard.
Thank you for reminding me about the sleep hygiene, its true, Im more efficient when I get sleep and its hard to respect sleeping time when you are stressed, but I agree, I feel better when I sleep vs not sleeping, it makes a huge difference in my mood. also, I like to take naps to recharge after class, since the day is intense, then I get up, make myself a tea, and study till about 10 or 11 depending on the day. I wake up at 6:30 or 7am since I fall asleep around midnight after watching an episode of netflix. How many hours of sleep do you get and what is your sleep schedule?
Hi. this is my first time ever commenting but I just wanted to say thank you for sharing! I am currently an M1 and have been stressed and burned out since I started and this just helped me feel better for some reason :) I hope to watch more videos when I can! Thank you!
I just found you & this was the first video I watched! I actually visited your school last month & its #1 on my list since I've been dying to move there. The school was beautiful covered in snow but looks a lot so nice with the sunshine out!
I just came across your channel. And OMG I"m a HUGE Brandon Sanderson fan! If you haven't already you have to read his other stuff like Mistborn/Wax and Wayne as well as Elantris and Warbreaker!
I'm so glad I found your channel! Im going into my first year of undergrad & your videos help a lot bc I'm planning on attending med school! Thanks for the work you put into your videos & the advice 😄 I'll need it!!
I'm in first year and girrrl is this helpful!! I used to do insanity as well, but since med school, I haven't done it again...I guess I was just overwhelmed. Thanks a lot for the advice!
Any advice for staying fit and healthy through med school? It's something I'm working on. I do well academically and in other areas, but fitness falls by the wayside. Thanks!
A 6 pack is made in the kitchen. A person can lose weight by just changing their diet alone. If you want to tone, start slow. Maybe just 30 minutes a day. Find a gym buddy. Your body will naturally crave it once you've got a routine going.
This is a great video and I am a new subscriber! :) I gotta admit though, you won me over with: "I've been watching Game of Thrones." Haha, seriously though, good video. I am an aspiring Med student, actually starting undergrad next Thursday! You gave some good tips for not only med school, but I hope undergrad as well.
Watching your videos when i need to be studying for my radiology program ._. it's overwhelming how many methods and approaches there is to studying medical material. it feels impossible to figure out the right system!!! (i just started)
Way of Kings is awesome! And Words of Radiance is even better. Glad to find a fellow fan :) Definitely check out Name of the Wind if you're into fantasy; it's my personal favourite. Also, just started my first year and I can relate to some of the things you mentioned. Didn't realize why it was taking me so long to fall asleep until I saw your vid haha. Thanks!
This vid is awesome, thanks - I want to be a med student in the future but this also helps with working in high school bc mine is difficult and I was burned out last semester but I want to use your advice to help me :)
Thank you!! no it doesn't include residency, it's so much different than how it is in the states. so once we graduate from high school we get into college and study a whole preparatory/foundation year. at the end, depending on your GPA and performance you get into medical school, it is pretty competitive. so basically in order to get your MBBS (i think it's equivelant to MD in the united states) it takes you 7 years(1 prep year + 5 medical years+ 1 internship year) after all that we begin our residencies that vary in years depending on the speciality you go for. i tried making it simple but it's much more complicated haha. HAVE A GREAT DAY!
I live in Saudi Arabia, yet our college of medicine is adapting and contextualising the Monash university MBBS Curriculum (Australia) under a licencing agreement.
DO schools typically have a number of disadvantages: Less desirable locations Higher tuition Often not affiliated with a teaching hospital Weaker rotations & training during your 3rd and 4th year Weaker research programs All of this means that it's harder to match into certain specialties (residency), and harder to match into more prestigious residency programs across the board. It's much harder to become an ENT as a DO than it is from an MD school
I am sorry but I would have to disagree with you. We are affiliated with teaching hospitals. We take the same exams. And there has been a merger - which means that there is now a single GME accreditation system. In layman's terms - DOs and MDs will be applying to the same residency programs and there will be one match. My DO friends have matched into ophthalmology, urology, general surgery, and OBGYN.
In my opinion I would rather have an old school MD than a modern DO but that's just my opinion. Weaker entrance scores to matriculate at a DO school still make me skeptical the physician is better than say someone who matriculated from say UCLA Med.
+Kim Navarro based on your answer, it seems like you are not in medical school yourself. There is no such thing as old school and modern. All physicians are required to be up to date on all the latest guidelines. And it does not mater if a MD graduates from UCLA med school, he or she will still have to attend residency before they can officially practice medicine. Many MDs and DOs attend THE SAME residency - this is what I mean when I spoke of the merger above.
I really enjoyed your video!! Probably is because everything you said has happened to me too. Quick question, don't you get fatigued sometimes with your workouts and just get too tired to study? Because it happens to me a lot! I would workout and when study time arrived I only lasted about an hour or maybe less...
Sometimes, but most of the time I study right after and that's when I'm most awake. If you get fatigued, you can try pushing your work outs to later in the day when you have already finished studying. Or you can try drinking a little bit of caffeine/green tea/preworkout before hand to give you a little boost both during and after your workouts. You might just be hitting it too hard. Cut work effort to 70% and see how you feel. Hope that helps!
Hey I'm in high school right now and I want to go to med school and I think I'll like it very much but how can I be sure that this would be what I Love to do in my life and that I won't regret this choice later ?? and I'd love to know how you found out that this was what you liked and enjoyed??
Sara I volunteered in the hospital, did mission trips, and shadowed a doctor for almost 3 years before I applied to medical school. I suggest volunteering immersing yourself early in medicine to figure out if it is right for you.
Hi Jenny! I just came across your channel. Do you have any advice on students taking the MCAT? I just graduated college and now am trying to study for my MCAT. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to study, dealing with bad practice exam scores, and just good study skills in general. Do you have any advice? Thanks so much! :)
The test has changed so much since I've last taken the exam. But what helped improve my score the most was doing practice test AND going over all the answers (both right and wrong). The MCAT repeats a lot of the same types of questions and going over your exam allows learn from your mistakes quickly. I would go through 1 eight hour practice test everyday for 2-3 weeks before my exam. Took notes on things I wanted to remember or review. And then reviewed those notes the next day before I took another practice test. Looking back, I'd opt to take an MCAT course. I know these courses can be expensive. A surgical resident once told me "Never spear any expense on your education because it is an investment in yourself and your life goal of becoming a doctor. Pennies in a bucket. You'll make all that money back one day, you just need to get there." Hope that helped! let me know if you have any other questions.
I enjoy watching advice videos to manage heavy school loads. Great video. I have the same problem; insomnia from an overactive mind. Watching Dr. Oz on TV, I learned of an OTC herbal supplement for sleep. It is called astragulus root. It takes about 30mins to kick in, and you can get 3-5 hours of uninterrupted sleep without side effects. They are good to have on the nightstand. Great idea to plan a year in advance. Do you have memorization, stress-management, or time-management tips (new videos)?
What's one of the reasons you chose to student at an osteopathic school? This has been one of the schools I've toured, and I am super interested in the campus!
First two years of med school is class work - usually from 8 AM - 5 PM weekdays. I sleep around 12 so that gives me 7 hours to eat, gym, study, and relax.
I love your videos you looks natural doing your rutinary day without stress I hope do the same thing when i will begin to study But i am older than you 20 years more. Is it much? Some advice? Thanks you
this is a weird suggestion but do you think you could make videos on tips of how to keep your house clean or videos of you cleaning 😂 i sae a few of those and they're nice
Are your really really stress out all the time? Or is it like high school, where you're stressed out during exams and big projects, because I feel like anything assigned in med school, i would stress about thanks! BTW love your lashes!
Afghan Girl Medical school is a totally different beast so I think it just depends on your personality. I know people who stress all the time, I usually only stress when the stakes are high.
Is it possible not to pull an all-nighter AT ALL in med school? Lack of sleep or no sleep just makes me sooo cranky and unable to think. I was just wondering.
+Gabrielle Brown The physician I shadowed was taught by one of the physicians who founded my school. He suggest I apply and I really like the school when I interviewed. But the best advice I got while applying to medical school was - cast your net wide, you can always pick and choose later.
Do you have to pay to go to Medical School ? Is it a private school or financed by the state ? I am not from the US so please excuse my lack of information.
It was actually from a tractor at school that they were going to toss out. One of my classmates asked if we could keep it to work out and they said yes!
Girl what foundation do you use? Your skin is flawless oh my lord. How did you have time to read way of kings? lmfao. I'm in undergrad and I have it... I just stare at it as it gathers dust.
I use Makeup Forever Ultra HD. It looks ok in person but amazing on camera. My skin was actually pretty unhappy in the video. I try to read a chapter or two every night before bed to clear my mind. But sometimes the storyline gets too good and I end up reading till 3 AM. Haha I pay for it the next day.
You're so real omg thank you GOD! there is more to youtube than makeup routines and beauty hauls so im glad i found yoU! also recently downloaded the self control google chrome app and that is a life saver. you recommended it so gracias chica ;)
Ever tried science or political channels ? What you said are minorities ._.
+Pokoirl YaSe you're right. Sadly I've been drawn into that minority and trying to escape ^^u
how do you download the self control app?

Any advice for staying fit and healthy through med school?
It's something I'm working on. I do well academically and in other areas, but fitness falls by the wayside.
Thanks!

Wow you will hurt your "vertebral disc or joint with such excercises! Try isometric exercises and spare your joints! Plank ...wall seat ..

The facility is really nice! Have you decided what you'll be specializing in?
Yes! FM 🤓👍🏼
+Jenny Le that is awesome! Best of luck to you!
what med school you go to
i would kinda assume that someone that relies on their brain for a living would actually protect said brain
Is it possible not to pull an all-nighter AT ALL in med school? Lack of sleep or no sleep just makes me sooo cranky and unable to think. I was just wondering.
Yes!! I am proud to say I've never pulled an all nighter. You can do it! 🤓✌🏼️
just found your channel and i'm from Morocco i just want to say hii
Hii !! :)
Hey sorry I have been spamming your RUclips all day. How did you decide where to go for med school?
+Gabrielle Brown The physician I shadowed was taught by one of the physicians who founded my school. He suggest I apply and I really like the school when I interviewed. But the best advice I got while applying to medical school was - cast your net wide, you can always pick and choose later.
Do you have to pay to go to Medical School ? Is it a private school or financed by the state ? I am not from the US so please excuse my lack of information.
john doe All students must pay for medical school. Private schools would be more expensive.
Thank you for this.
You're welcome :)
Thank God I found your channel
Welcome!
Where'd you get that big ass tire from Jenny?
It was actually from a tractor at school that they were going to toss out. One of my classmates asked if we could keep it to work out and they said yes!
That's awesome! I'll be looking for a tire to take off of someone's hands haha
Thank you!
You are so fit!
Just curious, where did you get your video music from?
RUclips! They have a free audio library. It you look in the creator studio under the create tab.
Awesome thanks!! I actually really like the background music for studying lol

Hi Jenny, you're the best. Thanks for all your videos. My q: what kind of longboard do you have?
+CJ Schellack I'm actually not sure. I received it as a gift during undergrad.
hahaha holy shat, where'd you get that tire from??!!!
One of the tractors from school. They were going to toss it but one of our classmates asked if we could keep it to work out. 💪🏼😬
Great tips!
+Jenny Le awesome, I HIGHLY recommend The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. It is crazy good.
I feel you
Thanks for the helpful tips! U AND UR RING R BEAUTIFUL LOL
Thank you! I'm getting married this weekend! 🤓

Yo I want to get into long boarding but I'm not sure how learn. any tips? thanks bro :)
You just gotta get on one ... And eat shit a bunch of times. You'll get the hang of it 😁👍🏼
Jenny Le ahaha that makes sense. Should I buy one on Amazon? There is only one skate shop around me and they aren't that good :(
+Anjana N (Hatsunetsu) do you know what kind of board / wheels you want? If so then I don't see why you can't buy them online.
