- In this final installment of Serger Saturday for Quilters, Sara Gallegos shares her absolute favorite use for a serger on quilts: making perfect bindings. She uses fusible thread on the lower looper, regular serger thread on the upper loopers, and-with a few specific tricks-creates the perfect quilt binding.
Notions used: Wonderfil Iron n Fuse thread, Madeira Aerolock thread (40 weight), Reliable Senza 200DS iron, Clover Wonder Clips, stiletto. (The quilted sample was made using Westalee Design Quilting Templates and rulerwork foot.)
Sara, you are so good at tutorials, thanks for that one!
Sara, that is by far the best explanation I’ve seen on YT. THANKS SO MUCH!😊😊😊
I love this. I will never do my binding any other way. I have always loved my serger, but this way of doing binding makes having a seerger an absolute necessity.
Excellent how to 😊
Gorgeous binding, I am definitely doing this, Thank you so much for the demo!

Wonderful binding method . Thank you!
I love Wonderfil thread. I prefer to piece with Decobob a cottonized 80wt polyester thread. It is strong and reduced bulk, particularly with blocks with manifold seams. Thanks for your demonstration.
This is GREAT & simple to follow.
Try you edge joining foot to sew down the binding for a perfect straight line
Thank you sew much love this idea of finishing a quilt on my serger using fusible thread! ❤️❤️❤️
Fusible thread? Binding with a serger! Thank you for showing us
Excellent thank you very much.
Question: what width is your binding? I typically cut 2½".
A friend just sharing your video with me. I love this use of the serger! I have an old Singer that I need to clean and learn to use. I'll definitely try this method of binding my runners and quilts.
You're awesome and I love the way you teach, this is perfect, thanks! What is your sewing machine?
