    Nothing wrong with using reference for art,it helps with how you want to create your character

    Solid video. And yes, absolutely is nothing wrong with using references for art! Sometimes it’s absolutely necessary!

    References are truly a life savior when drawing, the only thing that's sucks a bit is search for the reference that u want and not find it at all no matter how much you search. 😫

    As someone who hopes more people realize that references (among other thing like copy and pasteing repetitive background objects) I haven't even thought of using references for lighting! I will definitely start doing that, thank you!:D

    Leonardo da Vinci had someone model for the Mona Lisa. If you use reference, you're not cheating any more than he did.

    Visual memory is definitely a thing, but it serves less the accurate depiction than a deeper understanding of your subject and how to portray it. Observing is quite important, and you will retain information that’s useful, but never to the point of realistic depiction.
