I’ve been kind of parroting about this topic in some videos, so sorry if it’s gets annoying. But I am just honestly peeved by the sight of these scammers, even though I’ve never went forward with any of them. On Instagram and Twitter, you’ll apparently be messaged by a scammer who claimed to want you to draw picture of their Son or Dog and will give you $500 (important to note, it’s ALWAYS $500 for some reason) You’ll get people on deviantart making multiple accounts and ban evading just so they can ask if “Are you open for commission”? On the same site? You’ll get random people offering you to work for their game site, or ask if you are interested in selling your work as NFTs. On top of that, you’ll get scammers claiming that you are their ‘Muse’ and want you to pay for their work, or you’ll get Mural scams of people asking that they wanted to use your art work in a mural. PLEASE don’t fall for any of these people! The fact that I’ve seen people having fallen for this is sad.

I was trying to find a video because I posted art then a minute or less after posting two people said “Hi are you open for commission if so send me a dm” I look at one of there liked post and saw they said the simple thing on other posts

the one thats finished product is lighter is because it’s a recoloured version of the character’s sprite. Balloon Party from Reverse 1999, and for some reason the person gave her breasts when she’s flat and a minor in game

i remember this happening to me a month a two ago on tumblr, i genuinely thought that they wanted to commission me but i didnt have any payment methods for them to pay me with. but i was still really excited to draw for someone and offered to draw for them for free, they declined and told me "Hello, nice to meet you", "It's fine ☺️" but then asked me "I'll like you to draw a picture for me and I think I just fell in love with your art work". luckily, i ignored it and just moved on. it happened another time but with a different user. i just blatantly ignored them

What I’ve learned from these comments is people can’t just agree to disagree. It’s fine to not like one style opposed to the other. Genshin does have same face syndrome and I agree with some of the comments saying that the men could use some better structure bodies (it’s lowkey sad give itto his arms 😭) I personally like the shape language part of genshin more because I can easier remember character names that way. Same with how I like star rail but even with their designs I forget character names a lot, their style is more close to WUWa’s designs (imo) with the body shapes, not that that’s a bad thing I like the fact male characters in WuWa have more defined cheek bones makes em look aged. But I agree, this video being my first real introduction to WuWa, some of the character are hard to differentiate. And I think that’s fine, this is all about personal taste. Why is the internet so hell bent on not being able to take different opinions that don’t effect you in any way shape or form? Edit: I will add if it’s supposed to take place in an apocalypse, why are a lot of the women wearing dresses? That part doesn’t make much sense to me, like is it sex appeal? Why can’t they wear pants and not some skin tight body suit or dress? Not a dig just you can make good like ale character design without making the women inherently ‘sexy’. Idk from the character design alone and know nothing of the story it doesn’t feel like a bunch of apocalypse characters. But that’s just me 🤷

I have experimented with ai art, I mostly do digital art nowadays because I’m trying to move from drawing on paper to digital art. Ai art is a good idea for referencing, but I don’t believe in using it as actual art

I laugh at the nft scams and immediately block. The collab scams are so funny cause I always get stuff that makes no sense for my artwork so it's immediately apparent. I actually just had another scammer contact me through tumblr recently. For reference, my tumblr currently has a bunch of retro styled anime mahou shoujo (not pet portraits) and this scammer asked if I was available for commission. They have never interacted with my account before and their profile looked suspicious, but I decided to bite just to be sure. I told them yes and said to please check out my commission info for more details and sent them the link to my website because that makes it way easier for me, because people often get scared and run off after seeing my prices. They immediately got scared and asked what the link was, I explained, they then ignored it and started describing what they wanted... a pet portrait. Uh no I was gonna say no, but who knows maybe this person was genuine for once. I asked how they would pay and they said paypal... But I then reconsidered again and decided to trust my gut and stop them there. "oh? a pet portrait, sorry no, I don't do that" THEY GOT MAAADDD "are you insane? Why are you asking questions then as if you are going to do it" and immediately blocked me. This all happened in the span of a MINUTE. Yes. scammers often get very defensive and will block you once they know you've caught onto them! <3<3<3 Trust your gut and always remember that YOU send the invoice and get paid upfront. <3

People have become so desensitized and cruel on the internet. It's like they just dehumanize people the moment they get behind a screen, forgetting that the people they're talking to/about have real feelings and real lives. Like, we really need to remind ourselves of what the stuff we're saying would look like irl. Like, would you REALLY say such awful things to someone over the smallest dislike or inconvenience if you were talking to them face-to-face or were outside in the public? At this point, people just see each other as nothing more than sources of entertainment, whether that be positive entertainment or negative entertainment. 💡

I don't usually comment, but I just wanted to say that I was drawing my comic while listening to this. When you mentioned balloon tangents, i immediately stopped drawing, looked at my first page, found a balloon tangent and fixed it 😂 This is a pretty handy tutorial, thanks for the tips! 🧹

Early WuWa characters seem “off”, but newer ones are exceptional. Genshin has much better standouts like Navia, but now we have characters like Carlotta and the new upcoming girl is great. I started ZZZ and think that game has surprisingly good designs despite initially looking bland, they have the most “personality” imo. Genshin probs wins overall, mainly due to sheer amount and multiple of those being amazing, I want Traveler outfits with long hair for Lumine / let me swap to Aether and an Albedo update though. Side note: I LOVE my C6 Tighnari, but his design is AWFUL, I can count 34+ different colour shades and colours in his outfit, like calm down with the random colouring crayons Hoyo!

Been seeing various scams on Tumblr I've experienced, finally experienced an art scammer, they are EVERYWHERE :(

One thing about giving people constructive criticism on comments, is that the artist should actually be ASKING for it. Some people just do art as a hobby, and just want to post art for fun, they aren’t looking for criticism. There’s a different between “Constructive criticism “ which is something you ask for and “unsolicited advice” which is unasked for. Receiving unsolicited advice under a post someone worked hard on can be a huge put down for the artist, despite the commenters intention. Just because they are a beginner doesn’t mean they want your advice. Don’t give them a slice of the cake if they don’t like desert. Overall great video! I’m surprised you only have 5k subs, keep it up! ❤️

One thing to also be aware of is they've started going after bluesky users now with the twitter exodus. I've had disable DMs on there because of that, which is an option on Bluesky.

Another scam that’s worth to be on the lookout for is the “referse-commission scam” (as I will coin it here). It works just like the commission scam, but with the scammer offering to do a commission for YOU and not the other way around. They will typically say a very generic hi or hey. A more clever one might compliment your pfp. They will proceed to ask if they can show you their art, and will be a bit insistent about it (this is, in of itself, one of the red flags). Some major red flags I’ve noticed: - the scammer will claim their art is “amazing,” and might even tell you their art is better than yours. Real artists typically do not (and should not) talk like this. Real artists tend to be humble and even insecure about their art, no matter how skilled they are. - the fact that the artist is asking YOU if you would like to commission them and not the other way around could in of itself be a red flag. - If you let them post their “art,” it is usually fake, stolen, AI slop, or a combination of the above. It doesn’t take much effort to avoid this scam due to how laughable it is, but I think it’s still good to know about - especially if you’re not an artist.

Somebody tried the second method you menitoned on me. They send me a picture of their child and had more of that same child on their page. I told them to give me 3 Days to come up with a variety of sketches. The next day I wanted to check the specifics once more before starting, however, their Account was gone... A month later I learned that I dodged a bullet there >-<

The art design in Genshin in 2d is good but ingame it feels like no souls

Thank you for taking about this ♡ Edit: I had posted on Cara, got a dm from there for a commission, made the drawing, made a stupid mistake of sending them my PayPal email, got the refund email, got scared and sent em my money. Worst day of my life. Had to sell my body online for a while to make most of the money back since I didn't want my parents seeing all the money gone from my account. Thank frick I grew up.

Great vid! For my characters, I usually come up with a short idea that barely counts as a sentence. For an example let’s say I randomly thought, “feral Egyptian cat”. From that I’d research thing from Egyptian times, and then let’s say I found the common fact that cats were seen as gods in Egypt. Ok so there’s now a feral Egyptian cat seen as god. So what if the “feral” part was seen from people as a blood thirsty god that cannot be tamed? What if the people take advantage of this for war? That’s a good start. And in ancient Egypt, hema means “blood”, so we name the cat Hema. With that, you would expand upon the based trait, and where it was potentially discovered from. That’s a good way to find out the backstory, but you may find other ways of creating one. For simplicities sake, the backstory is that Hema was found on the streets. This can also allow for certain enemies of things Hema saw on the streets. Who are those enemies? How would they affect Hema? With that, the oc is made, and possibly others that fit along with it. The final result is Hema the Egyptian god, who is really a feral street cat. They were taken in, and use their worshippers to take out their enemies. However, the people take advantage of the cat, using it for an excuse for war. Hema must now find out how to tame their subjects, so that they can achieve their own goals. Though the language barrier of it being a cat makes it hard, so they’ll have to try other ways. Done. With that you go from a simple concept to a character. Of course, there are other things I didn’t mention, but this comment is getting long lol. Bye!
