I want to clarify what I said about "There was a lot of 4,000 nit brightness figures being thrown around" what I meant by this was that there were various outlets such as articles online published that were reading too far into the technology being the same as a 4,000 peak nit mastering monitor and assuming the TV would be 4,000 nit this lead to many people being convinced this was the case getting their hopes up but Sony themselves never once claimed the TV would hit anywhere close to 4,000 nits in fact all they said was it will be their brightest TV yet and that it would be 50% brighter than the X95L.
We know, KG. Some youtubers and outlets claimed the 4000 nits number although Sony never mentioned such a number. They always said "up to 50% brighter than the X95L". Which is nowhere near 4000 nits. My estimate is that it gets about 2400 nits at 10% / 1-5% specular highlights and 800-900 nits full field. Which is still very respectable. But the new TCL Mini-LEDs get much brighter. Albeit for a very short duration and they also max out at 2000-2500 nits after a couple of seconds.
@@TechWithKG Thanks for the info, KG! QD-OLED is still the technology to go even though it has its own drawbacks, of course. I guess the Micro-LEDs will be the "Jack of all trades" in TV-technology.
Really appreciate this video! The fact of detailed and honest about this tv especially next to another reviewer’s video I just watched last night were night and day. I know everyone has different opinions/ tastes but I always respected your videos believing what you say about the TV’s is what you mean. Thank you!
Yeah this had a dose of reality. I'm not a Sony fanboy , but i do like the attention to detail Panasonic and Sony bring on their mid to high end TVs. In this TVs favour, most of the critique is minor, and for most consumers, not even a problem. Anyone coming from LCD another mini-LCD , and older OLED will be well super happy with this TV. Some people already buy the likes of a Sony X95L over OLED , they are going to be ecstatic. Sony and even TCL/Hisense show that miniLCD is a viable option. But I still think a 83" G4 will have that extra sparkly star field and contrast. Again if TVs not side by side. the Sony would look WOW. Just buy what you want , just realise the G5, G6, S95E and Sonys Bravia 9 ( 2025 ) will be brighter and punchier again etc ( ie now Sony has the backlighting system, it wants to hit that 4000 Nits for sure next year )
This could have been the perfect solution for our bright living room. However, as no 65 inch version is being sold in Europe, I will check the LG G4 (seems to be producing a brighter picture than the A95).
S95D will have the best reflection handling. I own an LG OLED and it gets VERY tiresome seeing yourself every time you get a dim scene. Black bars have reflections in them, any dim scene, not even just pure black The entire room shows too, not just the lights. It's great in a dark or dim room, but in a bright room it leaves something to be desired. The S95D will look glossy when viewed without a super glossy oled next to it.. but it'll have more even performance between light and dark environments. Like I said my daily driver TV is literally an LG OLED so no Samsung bias here.
I saw it today it looks good and i like the mat display a lot. Still i like lgs oled technology more. Theres something about it cant put into words cuz the samsung already looks flawless. @@paulcox2447
Final judgment will be all the TVs next to Sonys reference monitor. Shame about the TV not being dramatically brighter than a QD OLED and not reaching 4000nit specular highlight detail. I do want to see this in a bright room and dark room with the S95D, A95L and G4 flanking it.
Saw the live stream unfortunately it was only at 1080p but you can see that bravia 9 beat c4 in high brightness neon lights, where the c4 looked like a blown out image the Bravia 9 kept all the details.
Disappointing, to say the least...But in the end is not a Master Series and QD-OLED is still the best technology for gaming and critical viewing. If Sony refines the technology and increases the dimming zones, it could be a game-changer.
I was worried it would beat my S95D in some ways but it looks like it was all hype. This thing should not be priced at the same level for a 65 inch. Sony is stretching hard.
If you were expecting the Bravia 9 to have parity with an OLED in terms of contrast, that's not going to happen. But your S95D won't do 4000 nits, which won't matter most of the time for many, but if you have 4K BluRays that have been mastered at 4000 nits, then no OLED can do 4000 nits - the Bravia 9 wouldn't need to do tone mapping either whereas your S95D would. But then the S95D doesn't do Dolby Vision either so for hard-core video enthusiasts, the lack of Dolby Vision is a non-starter -> 4K BluRays where Dolby Vision was targeted in the mastering process look amazing, but admittedly there's not a lot of content that falls explicitly into that category. Dolby Vision via streaming isn't such a big deal once I learned that Netflix uses an intermediate container format and doesn't target specific HDR codecs (HDR10, Dolby Vision). And if you don't do 4K BluRays then a lot of this goes by the wayside. Having said all that, being able to pause something or have static content up (think a RUclips video with music and a static background) without being paranoid about burn-in is nice. I have an LG OLED in my bedroom and Sony's once previous mighty Z9D in the living room.
I'm sure I will like it. Except for the high Sony price. Thanks for bringing it to video quickly KG. How about the Bravia 7, which because of the price, I am more interested in.
Big price difference - huge actually. They will sell many more Bravia 7s. Do we know the specs for the 7? It's supposed to be the X95L but the question is what concessions did they make and how good are the viewing angles? Because at that price, the angles have to be way better than the X90L's which was a great TV but had terrible viewing angles especially in this day and age of OLEDs having near perfect viewing angles.
This is the tv i want. I cant wait ro get my hands on it. Moving on from my a90j. The sdr brightness on an oled just doesnt compare. I miss that extreme brightness for all viewing types and gaming. Blooming doesnt bother me since i run dynamic backlighting in my room. I dont watch in a pitch black room ever Great video man!
That is my concern -SDR brightness. I’m used to an Oled laptop with 800 nits full window. I’d take a Led over Oled. Contrast is invisible with ambient light but brightness is very visible.
@@techsamurai11 I can confidently say sdr, especially on full field bright scenes, sports, etc are pretty unremarkable in sdr. I have the x930e, and I can back off the brightness a bit to get deeper blacks. I realistically shouldn't need to do this with the Bravia 9. Here's the issue I run into... We have a great community of people looking at tvs, but some people see too many tvs, and some people have preferences. I'd give up that contrast for a much brighter picture. Personally, I don't think I've ever seen "true blacks" in real life anyway haha. I find the world has some little haze to it. I think led/mini led looks more real while OLED for most people looks more artistic. It's all down to preference.
@@SpencersStuffTV Contrast is a bit overrated. Last year, Vincent Teoh showed off the A95L next to the reference Sony and it looked almost identical. The G3 didn't look any better. I have an OLED laptop that I measured yesterday at 800 nits full window (I thought it was 1,000) but it drops from 1,000 to 800 on the full window. It looks amazing but at the same time my 2014 Sony LED looks almost identical in 95-98% of the content and times. At night, the OLED pulls away in dark scenes but that's expected. Plus, it has a light sensor to make the image perfect. But in sports, daytime viewing, afternoon viewing, evening viewing, gaming etc, the LED is the same as the OLED.
@@SpencersStuffTVthat’s a good point u make michigan. I understand your point. I want the artistic look with punch in highlights and color. I can deal with a little haze but not at the angles cause I don’t always watch tv dead on. Now the price for this tv is what gets me away. It’s steep.
You must not get laid enough. I love watching my 77” A80j in a dark living room with a baddie. I feel like I’m wasting productive time watching TV during the day. All my watching is during some nights
These LED TVs need to bring something better to the table, over the Oleds. You are giving up contrast and dealing with a little blooming, but in return they should be much brighter, cheaper etc.. Not sure what this TV offers over a G4 for instance?
If I was forced to buy today would take an 83 inch G4 over this and pray I don't get burn in. I'm waiting for Sony's next 8K LCD combined with whatever new upscaling system they will have. That will be worth it over an OLED for me, but it will cost more money too
@@michaelangst6078 The G4 is warrantied for 5 yrs against burn in. I've had many oleds, never had burn on any. I have a c6 still and zero burn in after 8yrs.
Today, Sony lowered the BRAVIA 9 QD MiniLED 75" to now be $3,499. and the 65" $2.999. We're still delivering Nationwide from 7 warehouses across America at no charge
i really want KG to go ahead and put this next to like a C4/G4 or S90/95D and let this tv show off how good it is, standalone and making a judgement won’t do it justice to show how it is an oled contender. think this would really benefit and answer a lot of questions for the people
need KG to get off the youtube content and test it more on real content, not to the point of copyright but on his own time watch movies and streaming and sports , maybe get some picture. up and give the everyday images and review then after seeing what people will actually experience and watch to give a deeper and more of review with better context
Damn. I knew it would have blooming. It’s a shame that this panel was all marketing. 85" is $5,500? From what I can tell, this is not all that different from the Bravia 7 or the X95L. I know their margins are probably better from selling a miniLED, but this doesn't have a ton of appeal to me.
How is SDR with the A95L in a bright room? Can you watch tennis, soccer, and F1? I have an OLED laptop that does 800 nit full window and it's as bright as my LED TV in almost everything but I'm so afraid of getting a TV and noticing it's 300 nits or something. I returned my work AIO cause it was supposed to be 400 nits but was stuck at 75% brightness (permanently) which was 300 and I was going crazy at how dim it looked next to the old one (also 400 nits) so I asked for a replacement and that was 400 nits and I was ok with it. So I know I will go bonkers with a 300 nit TV in that room.
I had the c3 oled for under 3 months motion was pish for the football. the ball kept stuttering on the pitch returned for x95l. what a TV that is build quality to sound quality to pitcher quality it makes the c3 oled look feeble compared to led in my opinion
Hi kg. Really admire you for being a rare breed of truthful reviewers. I always said let the tv release and only then this hype of brightness will be known.also what happened with A95 winning awards but by year end had many issues. Thanks for giving us the true picture now. Hope you compare it side by side with qn900d in a bright room which i have ordered. You saw the qn900d how does it compare with it. I feel both have their strenghts one in sports one in movies.
Thank you for your support those words mean a lot to me, all I want to do with these videos is provide useful information to help others. I will definitely find the strengths of both TVs
@@TechWithKG Then do better. This was rushed out the door because you wanted to be "first". I expected better. What Brian showed and you showed was two different TVs. Your video is blurry as well. You made it sound like a QN85D in this video with throwing in some "appeasing" comments to make it look like you didn't totally trash it. You didn't even provide much of proper context and content either. Stick to OLED.
I am using that middle elevated stand position and it's great for a sound bar. We used the included plastic sound bar feet that you slide over the front of the TV's feet that lifts your soundbar off the legs and provides a stable place for it to sit. I have a very large sound bar and the two plastic feet covers has worked great - feels very stable. The feet are only slightly narrower than the soundbar's built in rubber feet anyways.
So the TV comes with the plastic feet or your soundbar. Because if the TV came with it. Then KG didn't even notice it and messed up in his rush to put out the video.
Thank you for mentioning the on-board audio quality. And I'm with you - can't stand it when manufacturers make you lay the tv flat to apply the stand. As for game mode, well, I'm committed to Mini-LED this year. Please let us know your fave mini-LED for gaming this year once all the models drop. Cheers!
You're definitely right about one thing - the drop-off in game mode. I noticed that with Brian's video yesterday. His video provided a 3-dimensional image that was startling but I didn't see it on your video as much so I don't know if it's the camera or the exposure that's causing that.
This whole video was blurry and half-assed. Brian's video looked stunning and better than he usually does. The B9 looked really deep in color and contrast. The game mode was also fine. It's a "realistic" game mode with Sony. Not a cartoon show. They have never done that even on their OLEDs. To be honest I don't take KGs video seriously the way he was talking sounded like he really wanted to put it down and he was rushing it. He has no idea about reference and only a reference monitor would tell the truth about any TV. This was one of the most rushed half-assed videos I've seen. Disappointed but not surprised (not about the TV).
@@Canuck-1976 Have some love man. These guys are so passionate about TVs! I love KG and I've learned so much from him and the others. I have no idea how much effort it takes to make a movie like this but I'm sure it's not easy. I'm sure there must be a reason for it and this is why we watch these videos - to get everyone's opinion. We'll soon find out the truth about the Bravia 9 🙂
Brian lowered his ISO on the camera so it would have as much pop and minimal blooming as possible. You can't see ANYTHING other than the TV in the video. In real life, I bet Brian could see the walls of the room he was in lol
I've been waiting for this tv to come out in the 85' but I can't decide I was also thinking of the 83" g4. Hopefully you will do a battle between the Bravia 9 vs the g4 .
Last year, the 85-inch and 75-inch versions of the X95L model had different display panels, with the 85-inch version having a better panel. Therefore, if you bought the 65-inch or 75-inch X95L, you got a lower-quality panel compared to the 85-inch. How are things this year with the Bravia 9 (XR90)? Does the display quality vary depending on the display size? Are there any differences in sound or other features based on the display size?
@@luissoto5544 if you bought directly from Sony, I hope you're patient. They use the worst delivery service I have ever seen. Been 11 days, still waiting. Supposedly tomorrow, but they can't even keep track of where it's at.
After seeing this, I am staying with OLED. I will wait for the next A95L replacement. I have the A80J. I have zero burn in. The picture looks incredible, despite not getting as bright as the A95L. I had high hopes for the Bravia 9 but this falls just a little short for me. it's good. no hate. I just prefer those inky blacks and gaming looks better on OLED.
Well KG, this is a first impression vid. I look forward to a more indepth, detailed review with a longer test duration. I do think some features and areas are better than you decribed. Give it some time, delve into the settings and lets see. We are also to note that its a different tech than Oled - both different, as some ppl compare both as if they are to be on par. Bless.
Like all mini led gotta sit somewhat centered or you will start to notice something you wouldn’t like more prominent blooming that you wouldn’t see otherwise and contrast still does fall off somewhat at an angle
When you test it with pc gaming can you do it vs qd oled side by side? It would be interesting to get your opinion on the motion blur during gaming of this vs oled. Something nobody so far has mentioned at all.
He to make simple for everyone trying to decided between lg g4 vs this Sony Bravia keep in mind lg oled g4 does 144 refresh rates out of the box this Sony Bravia only does 120 that’s #1 thing to keep in mind also in my case I watch tv in a dark room, dark environment so OLED is more suitable
I assume the TV looks pretty great with RUclipsTV with the XR clear. Question, can you juice up the picture to make it look more.... 'Samsung'? When I watch TV/Live sports, I like oversaturated colors that POP and maybe look a little crazy. Movies are when I bust out the 'Filmmaker' modes. Cool video and I think this TV is looking great in videos. I need to get to my local BB to check it out in peron once it's on display.
You sure can...I have the 85" B7 and that's picture setting called "Live Color" it will give the effect you are looking for. I currently run that on the "low" setting.
I need your professional opinion please. I purchased a 65” A80CL 2 ago weeks just prior to the new A7 65” release. I love the A80, my room is bright but I make do. Is it worth the upgrade to the A7. I am within my return window and they cost the same. Head scratcher for me? Is the A7 a “mini A9? Help please 😊. Thank you, love the reviews, education and advice you provide. 👍🏾😊
Bonjour...vous confirmez que le blooming est présent sur ce Bravia 9 ? Nous pouvons le diminuer en modifiant le rétro éclairage mais nous perdons des détails dans les images très lumineuses ? Merci
But does the screen costing have that awful rainbow effect when trying to handle reflections? Cuz that’s a joke. I walk into Best Buy and see rainbows costing $3000. How is that a good thing?
I will try to show it in a stream, it has a slight scattering rainbow on light reflections if you can call it that certain lights can be annoying with this type of coating I always advise to light control your room in all circumstances however I know for some people it’s not that easy. It’s not as strong as say the QN900D coating it’s somewhat in between that for the scattering admittedly with my globe light if that stayed on it be distracting to me hope this helps somewhat.
Thanks for the video KG. Oled will always be the contrast king. And I would love to see the Bravia 9 next to the G4. But has mini led got potential in todays market KG...benefits?
@@PETERThompson-e6h As far as processing goes sure but A95L is better because of the self emissive technology so you will get deeper contrast and picture depth. It really depends what you value the most out of picture quality to determine this answer.
Great job kg one other you tuber who recently went sonys head quarters gave me hell for saying you , Brian tech therapy, and fomo were the only honest you tubers who had seen the bravia 9 saying it was several things you guys saw that oleds had done better .
End of last year i was also in between buying the 85X95L or the 77A95L. I went with the oled in the end and did not regret it so far. I was coming from a 75X940E and I was concerned that the brightness would not be enough, but it turned to be really ok for me (but not with so much head room left at daytime viewing). I never saw the 85X95L in person, but at some point I want to see one of these more recent light cannons from sony as well 😂
Reading through the comments some people need a math lesson. If you have a 1 nit OLED panel and divide by zero that is technically infinite contrast. You are falling for marketing. A TV needs to get bright for a high contrast ratio, you rarely have a scene with a lot of completely black pixels therefore contrast is better measured from a non zero starting point in real life use. For most content a high peak brightness without the loss of color volume is going to be the superior picture versus the ability to do a pixel level black.
Im so glad i jumped the gun and went with a g3 with 5 year warrenty over buying this with no warrenty. I mainly would be gaming and i was semi worried over burn in, but your comments about it not being great on gaming finalized my decision to pass on the bravia 9. Looks nice but not worth 3000$
YOU'LL REGRET IT....WHAT YOU PEEPS DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THAT THIS ISN'T THE FINAL FIRMWARE AT ALL FROM SONY....THE TV HASN'T LAUNCHED YET...JUST LIKE WHEN THEY DID THE A95L LAST YEAR...WAS THE SAME EXACT THING AS THIS....THIS WILL WIN TV OF THE YEAR LATER ON IN THE YEAR...JUST LIKETHE YEAR BEFORE THAT...AND THE YEAR BEFORE THAT...AS FAR AS OLED IS CONCERNED THE A95L IS STILL BETTER VS THE G4...#WHYBOTHER
The G4 is a superior product. Can’t believe how inviting some reviewers to their building is all it took for people to abandon all logic. Not to mention the embargo…
I have the 85" Z9K which was professionally calibrated. Blooming is noticeable in black scenes with white captions but definitely not a deal breaker. All other scenes are breath taking especially contrast and HDR. Unless your Z9K blooming is a distraction to you (which once seen now can not be unseen) and maybe upsizing from 75" to 85" you may consider waiting at least one year for this new tech to be improved. I had also given thought about the B9 but decided to wait. Will be interesting for the V.E. Shootout with the B9 and others calibrated going head to head. Best to you in your decision.
KG, would you keep the Local Dimming on MEDIUM or HIGH on this Bravia 9 ? Is there a big difference in blooming if you take it from High to Medium ? Just so we can get some more brightness of the specular highlights ? Or is the blooming too much in MEDIUM ? Very good video my man. Good job !
Thank you, there’s a good improvement in reducing blooming on high but it will decrease the brightness of highlights I’d personally use medium for maximum HDR impact I don’t mind occasionally seeing some blooming.
3:44 actually, It does. That huge ass TCL with 20k zones or the Hisense with 40k zones have pratically no blooming, but It will be a while before we have that at reasonable prices.
@@maumentum The Bravia 9 seems overpriced when you can get a G3 for $1000 cheaper right now. OR, you can catch the s89c 77 inch on sale for $1700. The Bravia 9 is $3300 for a 65 inch. Definitely overpriced.

@@spyofborgThey literally just engineered the backlight control of the mini-LED of the Bravia 9 that nobody else ever comes close to, and then you'd question them for asking for something that they've truly worked on to push the boundaries forward? What a shame, this video didn't do the Bravia 9 any justice because no content has utilized its full-field sustained peak brightness, but if it did, then all OLEDs, even the A95L, will never even get close to what the Bravia 9 can do, all the while also managing to be super close to an OLED in terms of pure blacks.
@@troy5568 no need to attack me... I still think they ask too much, sorry, but I do. You should come to China and see what TCL newest mini leds can do that are only for sale in China in 2024. на высоком значении локального затемнения очень качественное изображение, я не вижу блуминга вообще. Если сопоставить приглушенную яркость от включения высокого локального затемнения и яркость современного оледа, то бравия 9 ведь всё равно ярче? насколько?

Many thx about this experience, can u do a comparison between C4 and Bravia 9 in Game Mode? Because in my country the price of 83C4 is game as 85 Bravia 9.Many many thx
From what I seen this year from other Mini LED TVs it’s the most refined backlight systems, you can tell it has come a long way, not reaching self emissive territory with pixel by pixel contrast but Id guess even Sony didn’t expect it to that’s why it sits below A95L for them in their lineup. That’s okay though because on its own it’s a great achievement Sony should be proud of it. This gives me hope for the future of this tech.
Why do you keep saying it sits below the A95L when it doesn’t. They literally said it’s sits at the top. Two different technologies. The A95L is a carry over from last year. This year Bravia 9 85inch is the True Flagship.
If you listen to their marketing team and their message in general they still see the A95L as their #1. I think it’s also evident in their naming of XR90 otherwise this would have been XR100. Sony wasn’t banking on this being an OLED killer if anyone told you that it was I’m sorry but you and they were misinformed.
Overall I think OLEDS are a lot better if you game more than watch movies. And you can’t go wrong with either or for movies, just depends on what you prefer
It’s not a skip, many people are going to love this TV. It’s not a stretch to say its not the best TV I’ve seen but that’s okay because those who are solely locked into mini led have a new contender.
I don't understand what sony is smoking to think mini led is the way to go. Yes it will get bright but sorry sony your still working with mini led technolgy going to be same issues that mini led tvs are prone too .
It’s excellent for a mini led so we’re both right just need to look at in context. Game mode on mini led always has some compromise with the backlight in mind.
Even the small Blooming doesn't bother me as much as the possibly excessive contrast of the OLED, where a dark scene is displayed, and in such scenes I would want a Blooming. I don't like HDR either, because for me it's not a realistic picture, but a picture with enhanced depth, colors, everything just to make it pop up as much as possible. I will give you an example now, if you were to look out into nature, you would see the NATURAL scene of the picture, and then, if you transferred it to HDR, you would see a pop up picture, and I don't like that at all, I want a NATURAL display of the picture. That's why I'm still of the opinion that OLED would not suit me in any way, and of course, if I had an OLED TV, I myself would set the picture as it suits me, and I wouldn't care if the picture could burn because of that, because then I have such a TV as well it's not for me if I can't adjust it the way it suits me. Somehow I think to myself that I will never buy an OLED TV, especially now that it is necessary to have a larger TV size and here OLED is extremely expensive and if you want an even bigger size, you have no choice. Let's say that this year's SONY BRAVIA 9 would certainly be the best TV for me of all those that exist on the market or have ever been produced in the world, but I wouldn't have that either because I don't have such a salary that I can afford it, as the minimum I would like to have a 65" size or preferably a bigger one.
I still ended up buying a Sony 85" Z9K. For most reviews I thing it is still better than the Bravia 9 in terms of picture quality and sound and its a Master Series to boot 😅

Trust me I did not get the TV because its 8K but Sony is carrying it over again for 2024 as the 8K model.
Sony is gonna realize they messed up in 2024, I don’t think this thing is gonna sell like crazy. Ppl are gonna go A95L or for cheaper Mini LEDS, Sony should’ve put more into a New QD OLED, if Sony was worried about bright big screens they should’ve gave us some sort of souped up Projector or something for $5000. Plus hearing its Contrast isn’t as good as OLED, this and the Bravia 7 are gonna be a pass for me, A95L, S90D or maybe even S95C seem like better choices if your looking 65”-77”
Not everyone just block and ignore like 6 or 7 specific people and a lot of them are really nice people who just want conversation and feedback on TVs, it’s unfortunate though that the loudest people make it feel that way, and those people are brand loyalists in an echo chamber without anything better to do I guess. Moderators need to remove the toxic people and it will be much better I’ve learned a lot from AVS from users like D-Nice, Classy, Jref, High Def, and many more.
I'd love to see the Bravia 9 vs the OLEDs especially in SDR sports (soccer, tennis, F1) in a normal lit environment. My biggest fear is getting an OLED and realizing that it's 200-300 nits in sports where I need a minimum of 600 for okay viewing and a few highlights. Gaming is huge too so I'd like to see gaming too in HDR just to see the difference between the best OLED and the best LED.
always hated those legs, wish they would switch to what most others are doing with there stands. there is only one position where these horrible legs look good (low profile wide position). but then you can't put a soundbar in front and your stand has to be wide enough for those huge legs. i'll pass on this.
There is multiple different kinds of positions I should have made that clear in the video. I think Sony actually gives a lot of options with their stands they are one of the best at this.
This guy sounds like an oled fan boy I would take his analysis with a grain of salt, doesn't talk about the ABL that screws up OLED brightness or black crush and the lower brightness in bright highlights.

Keep in mind you can put them low profile in this position or tall wide or low profile wide, I just picked this configuration because I didn’t want to extend to the ends
@@Cenkolino I am finding 2300 to be the hdr calibration sweet spot for game setup so that might not be too far off.
@@TechWithKG Thanks for the info, KG! QD-OLED is still the technology to go even though it has its own drawbacks, of course. I guess the Micro-LEDs will be the "Jack of all trades" in TV-technology.

Very measured review. Love to see Bravia 9 v X95L with real world streaming content - don't care about starfields or gaming.
Black bars have reflections in them, any dim scene, not even just pure black
The entire room shows too, not just the lights.
Where did you get that nonsense from
@@George-hl2xm 🤡
Saw the live stream unfortunately it was only at 1080p but you can see that bravia 9 beat c4 in high brightness neon lights, where the c4 looked like a blown out image the Bravia 9 kept all the details.
Great video! I’m very curious to see how this performs at the TV Shootout! A95L owner here!
Same here! Should be fun.
The 85 is the true successor
@@NexGenTekI think ur right next gen. Sometimes the differences in the sizes is what makes the tv
@saloon I seen the s95d at Best Buy and have to say I left wanting it. Can I get your experience so far ? Thanks
dont compare this TV to OLED
The real question is how much better will the 85 in be than the 65/75
This is what I want to know too.
This is the tv i want. I cant wait ro get my hands on it. Moving on from my a90j. The sdr brightness on an oled just doesnt compare. I miss that extreme brightness for all viewing types and gaming. Blooming doesnt bother me since i run dynamic backlighting in my room. I dont watch in a pitch black room ever
Great video man!
That will be worth it over an OLED for me, but it will cost more money too

i really want KG to go ahead and put this next to like a C4/G4 or S90/95D and let this tv show off how good it is, standalone and making a judgement won’t do it justice to show how it is an oled contender. think this would really benefit and answer a lot of questions for the people
need KG to get off the youtube content and test it more on real content, not to the point of copyright but on his own time watch movies and streaming and sports , maybe get some picture. up and give the everyday images and review then after seeing what people will actually experience and watch to give a deeper and more of review with better context
Damn. I knew it would have blooming. It’s a shame that this panel was all marketing. 85" is $5,500? From what I can tell, this is not all that different from the Bravia 7 or the X95L. I know their margins are probably better from selling a miniLED, but this doesn't have a ton of appeal to me.
Oled only for me. I’ll stick with my A95L
😤🤝 same.
@@techsamurai11 It gets to like, 250 nits in SDR lmao
Oleds are so bad with motion though

@@Canuck-1976 yeah the TV came with it.

Brian lowered his ISO on the camera so it would have as much pop and minimal blooming as possible.

I've been waiting for this tv to come out in the 85' but I can't decide I was also thinking of the 83" g4. Hopefully you will do a battle between the Bravia 9 vs the g4 .
I’d go g4 without hesitation…especially if you’re a gamer
Last year, the 85-inch and 75-inch versions of the X95L model had different display panels, with the 85-inch version having a better panel. Therefore, if you bought the 65-inch or 75-inch X95L, you got a lower-quality panel compared to the 85-inch. How are things this year with the Bravia 9 (XR90)? Does the display quality vary depending on the display size? Are there any differences in sound or other features based on the display size?
With how good this looks, I can't wait to see how much better the 85" will be.
It’s pretty much going to look like an Oled at that point with all the dimming zones. It’s also going to be expensive as hell.

You sure can...I have the 85" B7 and that's picture setting called "Live Color" it will give the effect you are looking for. I currently run that on the "low" setting.
If you use color at 60 or live color it can get that look you want there’s also advanced contrast enhancer for more pop

I can probably arrange for this to happen on a stream in the near future
Would you say this is THE best mini led or just ONE of the best, with tradeoffs between your LG or Samsung, etc.
@@TechWithKG Sony told me differently so I have to go with that. This year they chose the Bravia 9. The 85 will be the real deal!
@@Freakyguy666 I’ll have the 85 next week. I’ll definitely update ya!
Gorgeous TV
This doesn't have hdr10+ nor 5k nits peak brightness what does this tv have over the tcl qm8 2024 for $2500 more for the 85 inch models
Overall I think OLEDS are a lot better if you game more than watch movies. And you can’t go wrong with either or for movies, just depends on what you prefer
Yes, the B9 can produce Spectral highlights at 4000NITS. I have seen it and it is like nothing anyone in the industry has seen thus far.
I like this tv but also like the sony a80l at 77 do you think a80l is bright enough for living room
As long as you don’t have sun impacting your viewing it is bright enough yes.
Hey KG are all oleds today brighter than led tvs from 10 years ago
Do you recommend me to buy this one or the a95L? I have rn the Sony A80j
Imo 95L as it is a QD OLED
Why no review for Bravia 7 ?
Haven’t had a chance to get it in yet.
Your impressions sounds like a skip.☹ Or just get an A95L. Or even better yet, save your money on a Sony period this cycle and get an Samsung S90D.
If you decide to get a Samsung make sure you get a extended warranty. It looks like my S95B power board just died.
S89C/S90C if you can still find
It’s not a skip, many people are going to love this TV. It’s not a stretch to say its not the best TV I’ve seen but that’s okay because those who are solely locked into mini led have a new contender.
@@TechWithKGWhat are the top 3 best TV’s for you?
So, medium settings for blooming on HDR?
High to get rid of the most, lose some highlight brightness. Medium will give you more highlight brightness but more blooming your choice.
Wen perfect cinematic motion? Wen micro led?
I could immediately see the light rolloff in the screen edges. That's a huge no to me.
Guess this was overhyped. I'll wait a few more years for micro LED.
I'm ready for you to compare it to the the Samsung and the LG TV to justify the price
I don't understand what sony is smoking to think mini led is the way to go. Yes it will get bright but sorry sony your still working with mini led technolgy going to be same issues that mini led tvs are prone too .
Brian said gaming mode was
Excellent, who is right ? 🤔
It’s excellent for a mini led so we’re both right just need to look at in context. Game mode on mini led always has some compromise with the backlight in mind.
Always enjoy your honest content.
just bought the lg c3 77 inch for a total of $2,119.99 Now just waiting for a 76 inch microled for a reasonable price
Awesome first look kinda glad I didn’t pull the trigger on this
Can we have MotionFlow feature on while on game mode?
End of the day, it’s still a miniLED. It’ll bloom. The contrast won’t be infinite.
Up to buyer, but I can’t let go of OLED, personally.
It's technically is infinite though since It can completely turn off some zones
The OLEDs are just so bad with motion handling
Bravia 8 unboxing and review soon?
It sure looks good to me so tv looks great with little blooming or choose a tv with a little better picture but with burn in to me is a bigger problem
How was the motion blurring?
Not the best
The real challenge for Bravia 9 is the frame by frame comparison with TCL C855 (QM8, 2024)
C855 specs doesn't look like the QM851G specs. They differ.
What size screen is this?
Ye sorry but for the Sony Tax I rather got the S95D and probably gonna use it for 7 Years
Eventhough it doesn’t support Dolby vision 😭
For most reviews I thing it is still better than the Bravia 9 in terms of picture quality and sound and its a Master Series to boot 😅
big money baller alert
No the Bravia 9 will blow it away in local dimming and in brightness. Also XR Clear. Why lol 😂
@@305NickNah, I was getting a HELOC loan for my house then my wife says we can go ahead and add the TV in it 😉.
Otherwise my budget was $5000 and thats maxing out including fees and tax😅
If you are already looking for a new TV but limitting what you can get due to budget then all of a sudden the wifey tell you we can go higher to get the better TV...man, you dont ask...just do it 😊
@@AnythingGoesJoJo amen brother! Enjoy that TV it will be breathtaking
@@TechCody113But that doesnt get as bright as a Z9K, all Z9 models has been hitting just about 4000nits. And I get 3 HDMI 2.1 ports and an 85 watt built in sound, I dont always use my surround system...these features are not even on the Bravia 9.
Trust me I did not get the TV because its 8K but Sony is carrying it over again for 2024 as the 8K model.
We're waiting for the comparison
Comparisons with this TV will be fun
The stand looks so much better raised end to end!!! Also allowing optimal placement for a sound bar. The way it was displayed on the review was crap.
Would this be an upgrade to the Sony Z9D?
Yes
@@paulcox2447 great, thanks for replying!
Only way I would get this over OLED was if it came in 98”.. but it doesn’t 👎
85 will be a beast
avs is a cesspool
Not everyone just block and ignore like 6 or 7 specific people and a lot of them are really nice people who just want conversation and feedback on TVs, it’s unfortunate though that the loudest people make it feel that way, and those people are brand loyalists in an echo chamber without anything better to do I guess. Moderators need to remove the toxic people and it will be much better I’ve learned a lot from AVS from users like D-Nice, Classy, Jref, High Def, and many more.
@@TechWithKG I agree 100%
damm I bought the TV Bravia 9 for PC Gaming but can always use OLED
I will definitely be testing this with PC gaming as well
@@TechWithKG Awesome,looking forward to your testing.Thank you
I'd love to see the Bravia 9 vs the OLEDs especially in SDR sports (soccer, tennis, F1) in a normal lit environment. My biggest fear is getting an OLED and realizing that it's 200-300 nits in sports where I need a minimum of 600 for okay viewing and a few highlights.
Gaming is huge too so I'd like to see gaming too in HDR just to see the difference between the best OLED and the best LED.
Does it have the black oleds
Appreciate this review!!
In the sea of thieves dark scene was the screen diming and brightening almost like heart beat? It was the first thing I noticed
It’s the backlight adjusting that is why I was moving the camera fast I notice this on all mini led tv in darker games
always hated those legs, wish they would switch to what most others are doing with there stands. there is only one position where these horrible legs look good (low profile wide position). but then you can't put a soundbar in front and your stand has to be wide enough for those huge legs. i'll pass on this.
What do I gain from being a OLED fan boy?
@@TechWithKG I think its just your preference nothing wrong with that but it might make you judge other teach unfairl. I have the z9d and I dont see any blooming in regular content, this is more advance backlighting yet you are claiming there is blooming in regular content. Watch the Revenant dark scene movie looks better on OLED. Mad Max Fury bright movie looks better on MiniLed so its a draw yet we keep saying OLED is better, this is bias.
Chicken legs for a stand 😅
I would prefer the qn900d
Great job once again
Keep in mind you can put them low profile in this position or tall wide or low profile wide, I just picked this configuration because I didn’t want to extend to the ends
@TechWithKG Which one do you think is better, the QN900D or the 9 Series?
Find out today on stream
A95L will continue to be the king of TVs
Great review, thanks.
