Roughing up the hull makes perfect sense to me! It's a similar reason as to why ski techs put stone grind patterns on the base of skis. A boat hull wants to capture air between it and the surface, skis want to capture beads of water between them and the snow. Skiers are actually gliding on a cushion of water.
I use the same grease but I buy the tube that goes in the big grease gun and you can pop the plastic cap off and just dip your flexshaft in the tube a pull it out already slicked down!
Remember blade flex when sharpening/balancing.Just a reminder to people out there there’s other reasons why prop shaft / strut /propeller set ups cavitate. “Speed waters propellers.”
hi RotoGeeks! I wanted to ask you if you can somehow unlock the subtitles of Genesis video n°3 and n°4 because I'm very interested in the work you're doing but without subtitles I don't understand what you're saying... I'm Italian and I don't understand your language that well thanks one thousand
Just a bit of advice so people have an easier time understanding you. The edge you sharpen is called the leading edge. the "straight" edge, is called the trailing edge. On the trailing edge, you have what is called a cup, and that is what you need to leave alone. Cupping greatly affect pitch and bite, so you're right in not touching that unless you really know what you're doing.
Why do they make props with beryllium if it’s toxic? There are so many other alloys that probably work. Is there an advantage to using beryllium in the prop?
will put only flex cable width clearance on the prop shaft if its a one piece flex cable but if i use 2 pieces flex shaft (flex cable and hard shaft) no need for clearance due to the flex squared cable will just slide out under torque on the hard shaft.
Hey any chance you can post a parts list of the parts you added. I just bought this hull brand new and would love to do some of the mods you did. Thank you.
I found out that my motor were wired to 4 in one ESC was not in motor order I had to write in the cli resource motor 1 a05 in correct order I don't know CLI commands Glad you back. Maybe one day you can show us some CLI examples.
But what if the hub issue is on the propeller side. Wouldn't that affect the blade geometry since you would sharpen that blade until the prop is balanced.
I have an 4mm drive shaft and it is getting really hot, my gap was like 1-2mm (I've used high quality grease). Im running a 6s 4074 150A ESC. My shaft is kind of short like 155mm, how much gap does it need?
like the video all this information is need if you want your boats or plans to go well, as a lot of the company's don't real care, they just want your money.
Hey JJRotoGeek have you done the maiden + setup video yet ? If so, please can you link me to it, as I cant find it (f'kin Doh !!!). Cheers dude, Dave from the UK 😀
Yo bro thanks for the vid I finally know more about boat prop flex shafts but I still have a few questions so my 3 part question is 1. Connecting a coupler or collet to a solid steel prop does there still need to be some play because it doesn't have the motion of tightening like the flex shaft does (mind you this is a higher torque application for a upgraded feilun ft011 has a solid 4.76mm---3/16ths prop shaft that used to have couplers like an rc truck or car would have and alittle dog bone that allowed for some play in the shaft and the shaft tube has bearings on each end for it to spin in. My motor is upgraded from a 2112 outrunner with 2350kv to a 3670 1900kv inrunner brushless motor. Question part 2 can a flex shaft upgrade be better for this kind of power? If I was to run a flex shaft could I still run the reverse feature for self righting on my esc? And can a flex shaft be put in in a straight shaft application??? The last question is for a 650mm boat what size flexshaft should I get??? I was thinking 350mm should be the sweet spot and where is a good place to get a good flex shaft from??? I was going to just get one from Ebay from china?...
Iv got a few boats and I'm not bothered about speed i buy them cos I love using rc boats in my local park my TFLs are fast but iv never opened them up for top speed the lake where i use them you can walk around it in about 3 minutes so i wouldn't even hit 20mph 😂
Hmmmm you can try. Lotta torque for that size. I would try it with a 2bladed light pitch prop. Shoot for upper rpm and reduced torque. That’s what I would do

Man, that boat is going to be fast! Fantastic! 😃
Great work, JJ! Looking forward to the maiden! 😃
That intro got you my sub

LOL. I do that too sometimes.

Part 5 coming soon? Would love to get a link to the materials you use. Tape/epoxy and other things. Thanks for many good suggestions!
Why doesn't it show how the propeller swung🤔
Anyway great job!👍

I have no idea brother. Wonder that myself
That was a quick response!
All the money in that boat, and using two huge adjustable wrenches. Buy a wrench set please.

Absolutely agree

I sharpen the prop first then balance. And only take material off the front side (bow facing) not the rear
Awesome. Loving these boat vids! You should do a step my step build overview of the new rigger. Not a build video just show us as you do big steps

Just asking...what type off sand paper you use to sand those bottom boat
320 or something close. Sand in the direction of travel !

David Avery Sorry I missed this brother. Do me a favor and email me your number so we can text. My email is in the description.

why do you adjust the propeller under water.....you cant control what you are doing.....
I got an old boat. Trade you for a 4 in 1 esc and a vtx... I gotta fly bro.. My Batt.'s are pissed they need a release.
Lolol. Email me what the boat is and some pics brother. And also what type of esc your looking for jjrotogeek@patriot-blades.com
That adjustable wrench shit is hard to watch. 😅
When is dat maiden?? :D
Very soon ma brother. Weather is finally decent
JJRotoGeek cant wait ma dud
I wouldn't put my enemies boat in that nasty latrien skirt boy calls a pool
Hello sir. Can i use 4mm flex shaft in a 4092 2140kv motor?
Depends. How many cell battery u going to use?
6s sir

First.
