A thing to note that the Vanessa verse countries are not only European inspired but also Eastern European countries. Aldovia is clear mix between Moldova and Romania (the movies were actually filmed at the Peles castle), Montenero is clearly motenegro and Penglia is most likely the Vanessaverse version of Hungaria where the huns were east asian instead of central asian. This means that the ottoman colonization either never took place or it ended early enough so that Moldova and Wallachia united themselves into one kingdom and anexed the balkans. The still existence of royalty also implies that the democracy was never aboloshied which means the eastern bloc never really existed in the Vanessaverse
Or the Golden Horde never lost power in the Vogla/Don basin area. As for the monarchies all having perfect RP accents, that can be easily explained by all of them studying at Eton and Oxford, like is something that many European royalty have done over the centuries.

The blatant evidence of political unrest (especially in the second christmas prince where there is a LITERAL WORKER STRIKE that they blatantly try to ignore and do practically nothing to help) almost makes it seem like one of the writers is trying to begrudgingly hide social commentary in the christmas movie they were forced to write. They were an english major with a dream to become a director, and this is where they end up? Writing a shitty hallmark christmas movie for netflix? Well, if this is what their dreams have come to, they might as well hide political undertones in the movie so it somewhat resembles the scripts they once hoped would make the big screen.
It gives me the impression that the writers wanted to make a movie that satirizes these tropes and ends with an anti-monarchy revolution, but the idea was scrapped.

Within the Vanessaverse, the films are not fictional films like Marvel films. But are instead actually biographic or documentary in nature. There for the night learned from a documentary and not a movie. And that would mean they either hired the real life people to play themselves or hired look-a-likes to fill the roles, or we have been watching the bio pics and Vanessa is actually apart of a studded family of triplets (atleast) and is the number one actress in this universe
i mean theres already at least 4 vanessa hudgenses canonically, it wouldnt be too surprising if there was another one out there who was an actor. presumably she wasnt famous before the movies were made otherwise one of the other vanessas would have seen her
i think they are less documentaries and more fictionalized historical events think of like Hamilton (especially with the actors playing multiple roles, the very sensationalized yet also very "sanitized" moments)

I love the theory that The Knight Before Christmas is being orchestrated by two gods that are more than likely just bored and want a story to happen which is why they introduce time travel of all things into a rom com. In a way you could draw parallels with this theory and fanfiction, because how else do you think y/n is ever so casually just seducing every supernatural being within a 30km radius while also being one of the most unremarkable multiverse characters ever?

I must say, the answer is so obvious yet so subconsciously portrayed. We ask ourselves, who controls these universes? Who keeps bringing new Vanessas into this already broken timeline? All trails lead back to... Vanessa Hudgens herself. The old Lady from The Knight Before Christmas is in fact Vanessa from an alternate timeline because if Vanessa can duplicate herself and also can defy the laws of time and space, why shouldn't shapeshifting be on the list too? Also, If we follow that logic then the little daughter from The Princess Switch is also a shapeshifted Vanessa from a different reality. This explains the uncomfortable obsession of the daughter with her father's romantic life. They are in fact Vanessas enjoying the sensual pleasure bestowed upon their alternate selves. Trapped in this terrifying Christmas hell, the original Vanessa's only pleasure is to bring other Vanessas into this capitalist Limbo where they fall in love, marry, then change partners and marry again. Which role plays Highschool Musical Vanessa in all of this? Was she the original creator of the Vanessa Hudgens time-break, and if so what led her to such duplicitous actions? How did she come to be a certified God of time, space, and creation?
Sight is just one of many senses humans use in perceiving and identifying other people in the Vanessaverse- not like how people blind or face-blind use voice to tell people apart, but other stuff too. Because of this, there are small differences we can’t tell apart between them, which those from that universe might argue to be racist, although probably a lot of twitblr folks would say that you can’t be racist against white people or something, as Vanessae clearly come from somewhere in Europe
All will be clear when in the next installment of the Vanessaverse, it is revealed that the god the vatican is praying too is indeed also Vanessa Hudgens. I am waiting for a full Michelangelo-Painted Dome in a Church with Vanessa Hudgens on it

I really feel like they should incorporate the green knight (the character not the film) into this universe, for in the arthurian legend he came at Christmas to challenge knights and royals to a beheading game. I just think it would tie together the crone and knight aspect of this universe with the Chrismas-based absolute monarchy aspect

The map at 19:12 is a one of the maps of all time. If it's meant to be geographically accurate then holy shit what did ya'll do to Finland my guys, and if it's not then why not? The royal family can afford maps presumably. If you look closely you can see the word "GERMANIA" stretching out in paired letters from what we would consider central germany out towards the donbass, which implies some sort of germanization of almost the entirety of eastern europe? Penglia seems to be some sort of mongol successor state, and the fact that their border doesn't actually touch Belgravia but they're long standing allies implies the existence of some third, hostile power in at least Crimea and the southern steppe. And let's not even get into Aldovia which is some sort of south slavic super state reaching as far north as Czechia and Austria but that doesn't control Albania and Greece? And if Aldovia and Belgravia and potentially even Penglia are presumably catholic nations then what happened to the orthodox church? There must have been some sort of protestant reformation if Scotland and the USA are exactly the same but the reach of the Catholic authorities is much greater. And yet the pope was reduced in secular power to just the Vatican city as in our timeline, which brings up some interesting questions as to the state of the Italian peninsula.

pausing to look at that map took years off my life trying to wrap my head around the implications of most of eastern europe and the balkans not existing anymore. these countries have existed since at least the 1400s means they have gone through
- the renaissance
- the protestant reformation and the wars of religion
- the enlightenment
- the french revolution and the napoleonic wars
- the revolutions of 1848
- the industrial revolution
- WW1 (which considering the balkans are basically gone has SO MANY IMPLICATIONS)
- WW2
- the cold war (almost all of eastern europe is now a new country in this universe… were they still under soviet control? does the soviet union even happen in this universe???)
- and all of our modern problems

I have been waiting for someone to speak up about kid portrayal in media, and I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with what you said. Sometimes they're so awkwardly written as if the writer has never been a child before, and they often serve no purpose other than -you said it- a plot device for the main character. The most annoying example is some of those I-became-a-mother-to-the-child-of-the-hot-male-lead manhwas like, they can be one of the most annoying characters in the story simply for not being a properly fleshed out character. I don't even have a reason to hate the child, but the writers are making me hate a child simply because they're badly written

My theory about A Christmas Prince being a movie in the movie is that it's a biopic. It worked in The Princess Diaries books as an in-joke about the movie, so why not here!

I think they should get Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor (the creators of Nightvale) to write one of these movies and have them really lean into the weird alternative history and then just have that as one entry in the series that gets referenced to in later films but just exists as a weird film that only true fans will get.

If I had a nickel for every time a Christmas movie had a plot where the main character hit their love interest with their car, causing them to get amnesia, only to end up in a relationship with that person I would have three nickels. Which isn't a lot but holy hell that happened three times.
(I'm not a "Christmas year round" type of guy. Just doing a mini binge of unwatched Strange Aeons videos.)

Yeah, I’ve heard people mention that it’s “at the top” now, but I haven’t seen anything. Luckily you can turn off the live feature in dashboard preferences in settings, which gives you back your explore page and removes those ugly things from the top of your dash, but it’s only for a week then you have to disable it again. I’m still pissed about that.

What I always find very confusing is time traveller like in the Christmas Knight who perfectly well understand and speak modern languages. Like... have you ever read middle English? You'll barely understand anything without using a dictionary. How is Vanessa Hudgens and everyone else in these movies able to understand each other?
But I do like that the made the east Asian country's writing system look Manchurian. (Though I don't get why modern royalties would wear slim fitted qipaos...)

Btw if anyone is intrigued by The Christmas Prince 1 & 2 may I recommend you go and also watch Jenny Nicholson's video on them which goes further into dissecting those two films and unveiling for us the themes of deception, facade, and trickery. She doesn't bring Vanessa into it, but it was a very interesting video that made me very excited to see those two tied together to these other movies.

My mom and I watched “A Castle for Christmas“ just last night, as it is the only Netflix Christmas movie we will tolerate. And for the second year in a row, we wondered why the hell this couple checking in to the inn was given so much face time when absolutely nothing comes of their arrival. So that’s one mystery solved at least.

As a Scottish person I love that we maintenaned our country in this dystopian Christmas universe. Although Christmas is good we love New year (Hogmonay) that would be ours I think
