- In this video I showcase the long range accuracy tune of the FX Impact MK2 power plenum edition using varmint knocker slugs in 50 gr. I shoot some groups and discuss how I tuned and set up the rifle.

Great video, love the straight talking about everything. I've got almost the same setup but using the longer hammer spring with a shorter valve adjuster spring. Shooting 975 fps with 50 grn accurately, 145 reg pressure, Huma reg, probe and bigger transfer port, plus 700mm barrel. 580 tank getting about 45 shots. Looking forward to seeing your up coming videos.
@Andy Chapman- Nice setup! When the larger bottles are available I will get one. I got the 57mm hammer spring but I didn’t like how hard it smacked the valve and swapped it back out. I like your setup as you described and I’m sure that those slug hit hard down range! Gotta love the impact in 30 pushing over 100FPE! I’m looking forward to making the next video, I’m going to sort the slugs and weigh them to get a little better consistency at 300 this time. dang.ol.winner cheers it’s taken quite a bit of tuning, testing, loving the impact now. Huma air sell the longer bottles, here in the uk it takes forever to get anything from fx. Keep up the great videos

I love your approach to tuning. Setting the hammer spring first then bringing the reg up to it. I’m thinking it will find optimum using less pellets/slugs in minimum time vs setting the reg then gradually in reading HST up to it. Kick ass brother

Awesome video buddy awesome shooting man dam that's crazy 100 fpe that's accurate too ... I finally got my impact 25 cal . its tuned to shoot jsb 33.95 at 915 fps I haven't shot it yet but hopefully this weekend I'll be able to shoot and and also I got superior heavy slug liner as well so hopefully I'll be able to shoot the hybrid long range with that tune if not I'll just tune it up but I'm very excited... and watching your videos gives me hope that it will shoot long range that's way I bought this gun thanks for sharing buddy sorry for the long reply I'm a Rambler lol
@Chris Figueroa-Congrats on the impact! Great gun! If your pushing the heavies at 915FPS you should be in the sweet spot for the hybrids, I was shooting the hybrids at 1060 and they were grouping excellent, but anything around 990+ should give great results! A heavier slug like a 34 gr or 32 gr will carry more energy down range than the hybrids, it might be worth trying other slugs to see how they preform as well! @Colorado Airgun Enthusiast- Thanks man, I appreciate the comment! The VKs are very soft and will still expand when they are in the ~830fps range, and they fragment in the 950fps range. That’s my go to slug in .30, .25, and .22. They expand quick and dump a lot of energy into what ever you hit. I like watching your videos and have been following you for a bit!

Pellets for now, At least until I get to know this rifle, then maybe I’ll get a slug liner, I actually don’t know if the .30 cal is a chocked barrel.

Great video. How much did the dual transfer port and high flow pellet probe help you out? Also about your hammer spring on your power plenum. That little block where your adjuster screw goes through. If that is 18mm you need the 57mm hammer spring. I had the same problem. There is a 16mm version of that block along with the cup that hammer spring sits in. I think FX should have included that stuff with power plenum kit.
@David Richards- The transfer port and probe got me an extra 15 FPS at that reg pressure, but I bet if you went with the stronger spring and upped the reg pressure a bit you would see better results. I also question why FX switched those parts when the power plenum edition came out. I’m pretty happy with my tune so far and will probably keep it like this until I get bored with it! I have the heavier spring and just need the tension adjuster. Thanks for the comment!

@Ian Price- Thanks! The impact has always shot well and I think there is still a little room for improvement if I sort the slugs for the next video. I also hope I get the wildcat back in perfect condition. We will see!
Yeah know dought on the wildcat I was thinking about getting one.
From what I understand there is a way of calculating the FPE at the target. The other way of doing it is to put a chronograph near the subject at say 200 yards but you’re putting your chronograph at risk. How did you calculate the FPE at 200 yards being 61 foot pounds of energy?
Try some 43.8 gr Nielsen’s in the 30 cal Wildcat. Should get around 900 fps I tried a test batch in my mk3 and did good.
Just got a 35 mk2 Impact and have a 25 cal barrel on the way. Hopefully with the 35 cal hammer and springs already installed I wont have to to anything but a tune for slugs.

@Ivan H- Thanks for the comment! For me, it would depend on the main use of the rifle. The Impact in .30 cal is a very versatile gun, you can shoot slugs or pellets and it does both very well. For the Wildcat in .30 you would probably have a hard time getting the speed to shoot slugs, but the gun handles very well and is light weight. The Wildcat will shoot pellets very accurately and I will be working on a video for the performance and accuracy in .30 cal as soon as I get my Wildcat back from the shop. It’s getting some warranty repairs done at the moment. I have .22 .25 and .30 barrels for both the Impact and the Wildcat. If the Impact is in your price range it’s a great gun to own, I had to save for a while to purchase mine, but now that I have it I forgot about the price. I have my impact tuned for high power it I love shooting with it. The Wildcat just doesn’t quiet make the same power as the impact. Either gun will be accurate, but in my opinion the Impact is a more versatile platform. But if your just shooting pellets, the Wildcat would be great, very accurate and light weight with a smooth action and the trigger is great. Hope that helps a little!
@Ivan H- As far as after market upgrades- the Impact will benefit from the huma transfer port and probe, as well as a lighter spring on the valve limiter/adjuster. The Wildcat will see good improvements with the huma transfer port and a power plenum. The plenum for the Wildcat can be purchased from 910 airgun tuning and repairs, they have a website. The transfer ports can be purchased at Utah airguns. Those are all parts I have experience with and have see good increase in speed and shot count!

Hi can the fx impact 30 magazinw fit and shoot a 60 plus grain slug?
@Hunter Gameson- I have not tried the 60gr slugs yet, the 50gr have a little clearance but not much. I just measured my magazine and it looks like it will barely clear but I’m not sure if it will cycle. The lid to the magazine might be touching the slugs and might not let them rotate

@Saeed Al-Saleh- The barrel is a 700 mm STX slug liner. The slugs are made by Varmint Knocker and they are 50 gr large hollow point dish base slugs. You can get them on eBay just search “Varmint Knocker”! He makes slugs for .17 - .30 cal and they expand great!

Nice shooting....at 940 fps gun and VK-slugs perform very well at those distances. If you can try shooting around 1000 fps, with reg-pressure set about 155 bar. If you’re happy with your gun now you will be amazed and much more happier at 1000 fps.
@Air Sniper - Song V- I might try that tune at some point, I like the shot count I’m getting with this current tune, I can get 2 clips before a fill. A bigger bottle will be something I get once they are available again and at that point I might go for more power. Thanks for the suggestion, that is a powerful tune you recommend!

@Kasey Johns- I’ll be working on a video tomorrow! My kids started school and it’s online and I’ve been very busy lately! Monday I will be getting a package from FX and included in there will be a .30 cal pellet probe so I can convert my wildcat to .30 cal for testing! Ok thanks man. I enjoy your videos because no one else really makes videos on the wildcat mk3... Right now I'm shooting a FX 50.2 g pellet at 900 fps I put a Huma transfer port in and got the same fps. But I'm hoping to get a power plenum soon.
I really want to see what this Huma reg can do. If it gives your gun more fps than the AMP I might order one.

hello dang j have loock at many video at fx gun and workt at metall al my life. when j se a barrel from fx or another co i think they are to thin if you have very high pressure a thin barrel cant handle it. its cheaper to make a thin barrel but not the best.what do you thin about that
@bra video- I agree with your observation, the harmonics of the barrel has a big impact on accuracy and the consistency of a rifle. Having a thin barrel with a high pressure tune creates a lot of movement and vibration as the projectile leaves the barrel. What I try to do myself is keep everything as consistent as possible to achieve some level of consistency. I feel the future of the high power airgun world will swing towards fluted bull barrels and see much better consistency. I have always felt the airgun world is a few steps behind the powder burner world! I have seen some air gunners add a carbon fiber sleeve over the barrel to increase the rigidity of the barrel which is a step in the right direction. Thanks for the comment!

@Francois Naude-I was getting about 50 shots, not quite 2 full mags.
My wildcat mk iii .22 lasted one mag and had to go back for repair... Very disappointed in it.

@Scott therock- I believe it was damaged during shipping, but it also developed a leak in the regulator. That is the main reason I sent it back for repairs. Some parts had also fallen apart inside the shroud and the power adjuster wheel had some metal shaving coming off it.
Since you're getting so much energy/ FPE 200 yd with slugs why would someone buy a 25 caliber?

Did you get a .357 ronin?
@maverick25100- I have the ronin in .30 cal and I don’t have any clipping issues. I had spoke with the guys at Utah airguns when I was buying it to make sure they had not heard of anyone having issues with the .30 ronin on the .30 impact. Hope that helps.
Yes I was concerned with clipping. I’m getting a impact in .25 and a .30 barrel kit. I have a .30 sumo already for my gauntlet. And a .30 koi for my avenger that I sent back so I could use that. But would really like the ronin and didn’t know if I needed the .357. Thank you for your time.

@@dangolwinner Not yet. I was actually recently thinking about which die I want to get first. I shoot a lot of 25 caliber so I might do that first. .249 and .250 shoot great out of my gun. I want to call Corbin to out exactly how to get the measurement for the die. I definitely want to do it especially for the 30 caliber because they’re expensive to buy

@chow chow sauron- The scope I have on my impact is an Athlon Ares ETR and it’s the MOA version. It’s a very nice scope and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a premium scope. I would buy it again if I could afford more of them!

@chow chow sauron- If this is in your price range it’s an excellent scope! The Athlon Midas Tac is also a very nice scope and about $850. Same turrets, just doesn’t have ED glass, but still very clear and a great scope. The element titan is also a good choice.
