One of my favorite Joe Walsh songs, I grew up listening to this! My favorite thing I ever heard him say as a then recovering alcoholic was that he'd only been drunk once in his life, for 20 years, lol.
To quote Don Henley, “Joe Walsh is a strange bunch of fellows”. LOL. Joe Walsh’s lights might be blinking, his gates may be down...BUT THAT TRAIN AINT COMIN!!
Me too, love the quote. I was thinking always loved his unusual way of layering of sounds that don't go together but they do, must be because of his personality.
Wichita, Kansas finest! I'm a MN boy, but have been in rural Kansas for 16 years. LOVE IT! He joined the Eagles in '75 to Present. Trademark sound, awesome voice.
My senior year in high school. First week at the beach, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Transistor radio on the beach towel, this song blasting. Baby oil and iodine soaking in. Lemon juice in my hair. Life of a southern girl. Those were some good times. Wish they were back sometimes.
The line "I live in Hotels, tear out the walls. I have Accountants pay for it all." is referring to Walsh, it was reported that SEVERAL of the Hotels He stayed at, had Entire walls torn out of them after He left!!! In the Live version, he changes a few lines and my Favorite is "I have a Limo, Ride in the Trunk. I lock the doors, in case I get DRUNK!". Walsh is a Joker and a HALF! Hell, He's 2 FULL Jokers!!!!!
Back in his James Gang days, Joe joked that they toured with the Who and the worst thing that happened is Keith Moon decided he liked Joe. Joe Walsh learned hotel room trashing from the legendary master.
Joe Walsh came from one of America's great bands, The James Gang. He subsequently joined the Eagles. The Eagles were the Linda Ronstadt back up band. Sooo.... one day while shopping @ Topanga Cyn I ran into Joe. He was with some lady (perhaps his wife, maybe not?) I said "Hey Joe". I caught him in that peculiar space where he's not sure if your a friend, someone he's worked with or a fan. Instantly, I said " Hey, my condolences". He looked at me strangely confused. I said "You know, being the number one guy in the great James Gang and now sitting 3rd chair in the Linda Ronstadt back up band... and the chick quit!!! His companion turned red in the face and just before she unloaded on me, Joe burst out laughing. "Hey man", I said, "Have a great day". And walked off.
Joe Walsh, one of the greatest left field song writers, musicians, just whacked out character there is.....LOVE HIS MUSIC, solo, James Gang, Eagles....all of it
He came to New Zealand to rehab and ended up playing in a reggae band called the Herbs. Not for long but still pretty cool. Good band too, put out some great tunes
Joe Walsh is not only a great guitarist, he’s one of the funniest guys ever! In the eighties he used to spend a great deal of time in Chicago. He would frequently show up on The Steve Dahl and Garry Meier show. I worked at a hospital on the afternoon shift and would listen on the way in. I would be in tears when I got there. He was telling the story of how he was sitting in his limo and Richard Marx’ Don’t Mean Nothin came on and about the opening riff he says “Hey, that guys pretty good.............oh yeah, I did that”. Now, you have to imagine him saying it like he just took a nice, long toke. Lol. I’m partial to Funk 49 and Walk Away.
Spent a lot of time in the summer up in West branch Michigan and Joe Walsh was always there with us. His music and fun was always nonstop. Nothing like some Joe Walsh during the summer festivities.
I’d never heard the very ending until recently and I’ve been listening to this song since it’s release. I had fallen asleep listening to my music. I wake up to hear WHA WHA WHA.......... I had to look at what song it was. Then researched the song to make sure it has been there the whole time. I was actually surprised. Hidden this whole time. Lol
@@Shawn-rq4py ya he stated it was a I guess shot to the industry during the time of over used wammy bars and doing alot of wha wha wha music probably disco or reggae. Joe Walsh, one of the top guitarists in rock and roll. The Eagles scored big when he joined them. It made them an honest to goodness rock band. Joe Walsh and Keith Moon of The Who used to trash hotel rooms…they were nuts when they were drunk or high! Often banned from coming back to these hotels. He did eventually did rehab and got sober. This song is about what fame does to someone like Joe!
My mother lucked out and bought a 1956 Seeberg jukebox in about 1978 right out of the little country store in South Carolina where it had sat since it was bought new. It still had all the old records on it from the 1950's. My sisters and I immediately started trading them out for what WE liked. "Life's Been Good" was one of the first records we put on it, and never took it out.
Don wrote both guitar parts to Hotel California and taught Joe his part. I think the acoustic version from Hell Freezes Over is better than the electric version.
LOVED watching the two of them do this song together. one night in a fit of strange Irish humor I re wrote the song leaving the first part the same and then re did the second part(here is a little bit) I have a mansion, forget the price-Now I live off of top ramon noodles and rice. I had been looking for this song since before 1979 when my parents divorced. I heard this song while in my Dad's car (I think it was a Citroen) one day. I still remember that journey, but never ever ever heard this song again. Since I was a young kid I never knew the words only the melody to hum. Every few years it would pop in my mind and I would hope one day I'll find out it's singer and title. My Dad passed back in 2009 and I still had not found song. Forward to the beginning of this year (2022) I was on Twitter viewing rock group accounts (Probably started off looking into Mountain of Nantucket Sleighride) not even thinking about this song, then as you branch off to other accounts somehow I came across someone who had ReTweeted a clip of an artist called Joe Walsh. He was telling a story of how he didn't have a Maserati at the time and only used that line cos Lamborghini didn't fit. He played the riff and I was stunned. 'That sounds like the song I've been looking for my whole life'. I found out the name checked it out on Spotify and sure enough it was the tune. I still can't believe that in more than 43 years I never once heard that song on the radio or tv ever after that first hearing. Keep up the good work Brotha Jamal. Luv your channel.

@@martinmitchell8626 right?!? 3 hours, no opening act, all of their own music. FANTASTIC!!!
"What is happening?" LOL priceless. Fun is happening!
He played Drew Carry's stoner musician friend on The Drew Carry Show way back when
He wasn't playing ;)
I was going to mention the drew Carey show appearances but you beat me to it lol
Totally forgot about that!
I remember the old '90s show street smarts, where the host would go around interviewing less-than-intelligent people on the street, and Joe was a contestant one episode.
Joe had the best line on one of Drew Carey's live episodes of Whose Line Is It Anyway. Something along the lines of "it's hard to meditate on amphetamines." 😂
I thought this song and Steve Miller's "The Joker" were the best things ever when I was a little kid.
Ever heard Fly like an Eagle?
Same.
The Joker was my first album!
Colum Peel never cared for fly like a eagle and honestly don’t know why
YES to all 3.
I never noticed that this song has a reggae influence. So true. Thank you for that.
One of my favorite Joe Walsh songs, I grew up listening to this!
My favorite thing I ever heard him say as a then recovering alcoholic was that he'd only been drunk once in his life, for 20 years, lol.
James Gang "Funk 49" and "Walk Away"
#49 was what I was scanning for lol great tune!
How about "ILBTs"?
We've been telling him👍🏽
I put the links for funk 49 and walk away on the last reaction
also "Stop", "Woman", heck, anything of the Greatest Hits album
Anybody else remember him being a regular cast member on "the Drew Carrey show"....?
When I want to see happiness and smiles, I come to this channel. I've yet to be disappointed.
Thank you you do know that most of us are older people who grew up in the 60s 70s and early 80s. Thank you again for putting this music on this format
I love that description! I know a few people like that, hell, I am a few people like that!
The Joe Walsh biography. Another album by him has the best album title ever "The Smoker you Drink the Player you Get". Love Joe! Thanks
I dont know , I always thought , You Bought It You Name it , was epic.
@@dontmakemelaugh01 Yep, that's a good one too!
Yes sir!
Actually the best album title ever is the Who's Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy but yeah The Smoker you Drink the Player you Get is a close second!!
@@SergioSBloch That one is cool, but I still think The Who comes in close second to Joe's. We can have a drink and think about it....
Wichita, Kansas finest! I'm a MN boy, but have been in rural Kansas for 16 years. LOVE IT! He joined the Eagles in '75 to Present. Trademark sound, awesome voice.
❤ We just LOVE watching you discover, appreciate, and enjoy music !
Jamel's gonna be blasting this tune at his next picnic ... I can just hear it now! 😁❤
Joe Walsh. Now get to his work with the James Gang. Funk #49.
I never heard it #49 - I'll have to Listen before Jamal
@@oreally8605 there is also a funk #48 and #50 also but I like funk #49
Yessssss!
I actually prefer Funk #48.
This has been one of my absolute favorite songs since I was very little! Joe Walsh is incredible.
@@stpnwlf9 Legend claims what Keith Moon didn't teach Joe about destroying hotels, Jim Belushi covered.
add a line I go to partys sometime till 4 its hard to leave when u cant find no more
u have a firm grasp of the obvious
"Dirty Laundry" is so true today as it was yesterday.
I agree but Don Henley would never allow it to stay up.
Dirty Laundry that's Glen Frey from the Eagles but when he was solo that's a great tune too
@@79tazman It's Don, but no worries 😋
It's a Don Henley song with the solo played by Don Felder.
@@79tazman Don Henley did Dirty Laundry.
I love to see you enjoying the solo part. It’s so good, I was in awe when I heard it the first time. Still makes me jam out EVERY time!
Plenty more of the great Joe Walsh in The Eagles. My personal favorite "In The City" was used in The Warriors movie.
One of my all time favourite movies too, fantastic soundtrack 😊
The one used in the movie was Walsh solo, and a little better.
Clink clink clink Warriors come out to play yay
We see the ocean we think we're home, this this time u got it wrong.
"Can you dig it".
Joe Walsh solo material is a whole different animal than the Eagles. 'Turn To Stone' is a face melter.
Yes! Yes! Yes! His best song
@Tom Faigle Thats a big 10-4. Space Age Whiz Kids too!
My FAVOURITE versions: ruclips.net/video/p7CRTFUf9Gw/видео.html & ruclips.net/video/YAJ2CouafHc/видео.html
james gang
This on both Eagles and Joe Walsh Album. Joe was with Eagles. Back in the day💕 "It's hard to leave when u can't find the door"🎉
Joe Walsh one of the greats guitarist of all time . The EAGLES grout too. TY Thanks for all the concerts.. God bless. Still love it
THIS is how you kick off a weekend!
One of my favorites. Everybody say, "Joe's cool". He's cool.😎👍
Joe Walsh, one of the greatest left field song writers, musicians, just whacked out character there is.....LOVE HIS MUSIC, solo, James Gang, Eagles....all of it
Been hearing this song almost all my life and never even thought to connect reggae! Good catch!
He came to New Zealand to rehab and ended up playing in a reggae band called the Herbs. Not for long but still pretty cool. Good band too, put out some great tunes
Joe has been a famous "hotel trasher", he learnt from the best, Keith Moon
HAHA , not anymore I met him at one. He's pretty chill now for sure.
@@TheAgentAssassin I respect him for keeping his cool; during the whole Frey-Felder dispute!!!
Fast Fact: Walsh is an avid ham radio operator, and has been since a child...he can often be heard on 80 meter SSB. :)
@Tom Faigle wb6acu. www.google.com/search?q=joe+walsh+call+sign&oq=joe+walsh+call&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l2.7000j0j4&client=ms-android-blu-rev2&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#
Amongst other musicians, so is Stu Cook (CCR) and, amazingly, Feargal Sharkey (The Undertones).
"A life of Illusion" is another good Joe Walsh tune.
Excellent tune.
A definite must listen to track
"Look there goes a flock of flying wah wah's wha wha wha wha!" The hidden lyrics at the end of the song!
Josh Spurgeon I firmly believe the sounds after that are where the Angry Birds game got theirs from.
And I think if I remember correctly that I read it in a magazine or when I looked up the song. And I guess it's not really a shot but a tounge and cheek thing
I loved him on The Drew Carey Show as part of Drew Carey's band.
Man you HAVE to hear the beat in "Late In The Evening" ~ Paul Simon..... I Promise!!!!
I will second that!
Takes me back to a better time ❤️. Happy Friday y’all ❗️
Every year was better untill 2020😉
My mother lucked out and bought a 1956 Seeberg jukebox in about 1978 right out of the little country store in South Carolina where it had sat since it was bought new. It still had all the old records on it from the 1950's. My sisters and I immediately started trading them out for what WE liked. "Life's Been Good" was one of the first records we put on it, and never took it out.
Love this song 🎵 for decades now, it gets better with age, Rock 🎸 on Joe Walsh
Joe and Don Felder the "glue" held the Eagles together. Their guitar playing the best duo ever.
That's a fact! Live....wooooooo
The Eagles two-headed monster
Don wrote both guitar parts to Hotel California and taught Joe his part. I think the acoustic version from Hell Freezes Over is better than the electric version.
LOVED watching the two of them do this song together. one night in a fit of strange Irish humor I re wrote the song leaving the first part the same and then re did the second part(here is a little bit) I have a mansion, forget the price-Now I live off of top ramon noodles and rice. My Masserti does 185, I wonder how pedestrians ever get home alive
Need to hear "Lawyers, Guns and Money." -Warren Zevon.
Classic!
What song do you write when you're happily married with a family then learn you're going to die? This is what Warren Zevon wrote: ruclips.net/video/LbhYqV17CoQ/видео.html
Yes!
Excitable Boy
The live Letterman version is awesome
Great tongue-in-cheek autobiography. He's been through the wringer, but thankfully, things have straightened themselves out for him. Love his sense of humor!
