- Today I will be conducting a torture test on the Oculus Quest 2 and the Elite Battery Headstrap. I'm going to do my best to replicate real life scenarios to see just how robust this headset is. Drop tests, lens scratch tests, controller tests, and of course.. putting it into a dryer. So, does the Quest 2 survive?

The sandpaper on the lens was the visual equivalent of nails on a chalkboard.
Gave me the same feeling as watching my friend try out my Quest 1 for the first time, and then slam his hand against the wall. Multiple. Times.

How long would you recommend drying the Quest for?
I would put it in on a delicate cycle and if it still works turn the heat to max and let it go as long as you feel necessary

I dropped my controllers many times while playing gorilla tag and they're still alive and functional. I'm shocked tbh
I’m late, but recently I hit my closet door and it disconnected. After that incident, if I hit anything kind of hard, it disconnects for some reason

Thank you for this! A couple weeks ago I sneezed while wearing my headset and it FLEW off my head, about the same drop height as the first drop test, and I was so worried it had broken completely. However, after seeing this, I feel a lot better and sure that my headset isnt damaged 😅

Lesson learnt. Don't use sand paper as a microfibre cloth, don't use the controllers as darts and don't use a drying machine to store the headset.

Coming back to watch this after 2.5k-3k hours in this headset and has dropped it more times than I can count.. and dances like a maniac in VRChat, rarely any issues. Headset 100% good other than elite strap variant or 2 breaking, and a couple controllers break. As well some software issues but doing a hard reset fixes them. Very impressed with this headset.

Just watched this video because I punched my desk with the left controller, putting a mark permanently on the controller and screwed up the vibration until I took the battery out, seeing the true durability of the quest 2 and its controllers have made me feel way better, thanks a bunch.

Elite strap breaking: More likely because someone sat on it.
A channel called VR cauldron tested this theory as well, also throwing it down the stairs etc. it really does seem to be a bad batch was in circulation
this is still why i put hooks on my wall to hang up my vr stuff out of sitting on or stepping on range lol
As someone that bought one in a country with no oficial support from Oculus, It's a relief to know how durable this thing is. Thanks a lot for your video, you just got another subscriber.
If you didn't buy it off oculus and you do break it they will still send you a replacement if you still have warranty (1 year) you just need to answer the questions and stuff so your fine

I’ve punched many things very hard while playing Gorn, and so far my rings are holding up, I personally am impressed with the quest 2

Honestly the the Quest 2 controllers are pretty well executed. The headset and especially lenses are a bit fragile, but I think that kind of comes with the territory.

The way I feel about either of the quest headsets is they were made just for you to use them till you can get something like the HTC vive or oculus rift. Basically a beginner headset for people who havent used one before until they learn how and get enough money for a better pc headset.

Don't count on it, happened to me and it totally fucked the vibration. Needless to say, I had to return that controller.
I had to buy a new controller for thumbstick issues, not sure what happened there.
But I have bruised my hand by chopping furniture very....very hard. And the controllers were fine.
Given my hand took most of the blow, but still.

yo maybe a lil late but if you put any lighium battery product under such stress (dryer) DO NOT LEAVE IT ALONE!!!! if something breaks like the front cover and something pierces the battery it WILL EXPLODE!

having owned and been actively using my quest 2 for over a year, it is VERY durable, my headset has gone flying off my head my controllers thrown and i have had no tracking issues, no damages and not even a visible scratch anywhere on the headset. defo one of the most durable headsets out there at the moment.

3: 23 I felt really guilty for punching my wall while playing super hot VR. I thought I got lucky for not damaging the controller. Watching this made me feel better about how I treat my quest 2.

You missed out on a really good test, you should have seen how long it takes to get damage on the the lenses after putting it in direct sunlight
But that's something actively harmful to the headset... that does not happen during normla usage.
Doing this would just destroy the headset for no reason.

For all of you saying that the dryer wasn’t a real life scenario, it definitely is for me - there have been several instances where (if not for my keen eye) I would have accidentally left my quest in the pocket of my pants and thrown it in the washing machine or dryer (though that would have been worse considering the heat and the being submerged in soapy water)

I have been impressed with how durable this thing is, I have smashed it on the wall so many times, and it's completely fine, I like the oculus quest 2
