i'm really hoping andrew was just playing a character lmao
Oh i take life very seriously
He is, he has a youtube channel.
He has a RUclips channel called man news lol, he's just playing a character
He plays a
Dickhead?
That's good to hear. Because I was thinking since he won't win the deadlift, he can win the biggest Dbag of the year😂😂.
Firefighter is gonna win this, comfy. First clue was "I never do high rep deadlifts, most I've done is 10 reps." while all others "I don't deadlift."
awww i'm so glad Chase was included. he seems like he's already fairly active and he seemed very excited to participate so hopefully this is works as some sort of motivation for him! it was really cool to see everyone push themselves but Michael was especially impressive, from not deadlifting for over 10 years to busting out 40 bw deadlifts is on another level
why nobody talks about how lit those trophies are
Added extra motivation 😎
"sumo is not a lift" quote mitch hooper.
You can tell he doesn't like it bc he was being extra hard on the one person using sumo lol
@@IsraelMedrano To be fair she was floating it at the bottom
I used to sumo before Mitchell coached me. I wouldn't say he was a hundred percent against it, but he did fix my conventional deadlift form where I prefer it WAY more then sumo now.
Sumo deadlift is not a lift? Jeff nippard would like to have a word with you in his basement 😂
@BirthdayRat433 one of his critiques was to not bounce it but the winner was definitely bouncing it even more lol.
Awesome video! Being able to deadlift your bodyweight for reps safely with good form is a great achievement especially compared to the non lifter! Obviously self vs self is the most important. A good reminder in the social media world where instagram would have us believing everyone is pulling over 700 and benching 500😆😆. Very positive video! Thanks Mitchell!
Thank you for watching :)
Really enjoyed this more down to earth realistic video, I find myself getting a bit demotivated by all the influencers you see nowadays who look massive and lift crazy weights, because they are either on steriods, top 1% genetics or have been working out 10 years / get to work out everyday since its their job. Really nice to see regular people and both male/female do these sorts of challenges to get a more realistic perspective on things. Also gonna try this out later this week on my leg day!
Some people will look at this video the wrong way; but what a great showcase on not judging people and enjoying your own journey towards being a better you
What wrong way is there to look at it?
What wrong way is there to look at it? It was a great challenge.
No.
The contestants not calling out 3rd place for doing sumo showcases fear of judgment from the others
Mitchell is such an inspiration. As a rower such strength training Mitchell does helped me achieve better results. LHBK
Thank you! I really appreciate that
Okay, I'm trying this tomorrow.
That requires putting phone down and going to gym
@@wileecoyote5749
I go after my morning shift.
Me too!
Guessing you dont stick to a program?
What did you get?
That was interesting Mitchell. Some other stuff like this maybe? Thanks 😉
Noted!
I love that world's strongest man is now also a fitness youtuber... And a very good one
Imaooo 15:17 Mitchell patted Chase on the back and he tumbled forward lmaooo
I really thought that chase would do 100 reps lol
He obviously was bruh
I think he just needs to learn the movement and he needs a shorter bar
We all had high hopes
whoa!!! the number of reps they got is super impressive. great video to watch, about to go work out. =)
Give it a try and let me know what you get!
@@mitchellhooperstrongman i better not. i have a bicep tendon injury from bench press. any chance of doing a tendon recovery video? static load, how many times a week, reps, weight. at 53 tendons are the weak link and any info that helps would be super useful.
@@xSpecterx99999999 drink home made bone broth twice a day!
if you dont have the building blocks to repair it the regimen wont matter at all!
As a fellow firefighter, let's go Marshaaaaaaallll!!! 💪💪💪
He did so well, certainly not surprising 💪
I didn't know I was so weak and out of shape until this video. It's good to have perspective. 😂
Did you head to the gym to try?
@@mitchellhooperstrongmanNo, but I deadlift regularly, so have a reasonable idea of what I could do ~ 10-15 reps. Ok for 58, maybe, but a long ways to go on conditioning. Doubtless my 40 lbs excess bodyfat skews the numbers, but I doubt I could do much more than 20 reps even if I were svelte. 😉
Nikki's form was just too clean. She almost made it the hardest for herself by isolating the posterior chain the best haha
She's great!
More vids like this please
That was a fun contest, and good sportsmanship from everyone!
This is a great vid, had me smiling the whole way through. Also gonna try it
Let me know your result! 👀
Well, this video was awesome
Thank you!!
Great content. Man news was hilarious. We all knew the fireman was going to win 😂 you can always bet on a fireman. Also, the ladies did phenomenal. Great work all around. Those trophies were better than most I have seen for professional events
Thank you 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed it, I was really banking on Chase!
So fun! Thanks for the smiles
Glad you enjoyed it!
cool to see gym regs do strongman. could be a thing. farmers walk. atlas stones. conans wheel. do it mitch. awesome.
Safety is definitely a concern with larger strongman implements, but definitely noted.
two of them are on roids, Nikki and Michael, they are not "regs" sorry
I honestly didn't expect them to get that many reps. Props all round
Everyone did better than they expected 💪
Congratulations on another Word Record #2
Andrew really is a presence in a room 😂
This sounds like fun. I really don't know how I would stack up (this is before having watched the lifts), but I outweigh the heaviest person there (except Mitch) by like 40lbs, and in my last program I had 20kg above bodyweight beltless for 3x10 with a good deficit twice per week. An amrap at bodyweight would be fun... absolutely soul destroying but fun.
You should try it and see what you get!
I also love these are all family watchable .
That was fun.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Mike! It was fun to do
@@mitchellhooperstrongman I did, now go Break an Axle world record!
Mitch’s shoulders looking absolutely scrumptious
Horseman shoulders
lol
Mitch, from my heart really I say that since i know about you in the strong man world, I can say that you are giving a whole new different view of lifting weights and the strong man world. You are suuuuchhhh a nice guy down to the earth that really enjoy working and interacting with all kinds of people. Open to speak of topics really to everything that many are so sensitive to even mention.
I think you have done such an amazing job of being an ambassador of your sport, health, and care of others.
Congratulations and keep up the good work!!!!..Do you think I can take you in deadlifts or squatting hahahha :) just kidding my friend....Hopefully I shake hands with you eventually!..I live in Canada too :)
Thank you! I appreciate you 😃
I wonder if the physicians assistant was writing his own prescriptions for gear? 🤣
I can't remember if they discussed that but I think he is in the "No stone unturned IV therapy and sports supplementation" episode with Mitch
Crazy how they all surprised them selves 🤔…
These are not the average gym goers, the average gym goer are the new years people on the treadmill.
13:00 I don’t blame that smile man
So great that they included Chase. He actually did pretty good given his size. If he got a 45lb bar off the ground that's probably more than I can do right now!
Nah it was a risky idea. He could’ve hurt his back from the very first rep
What a great little competition especially with the sweet trophy's! Wish you would have tried it Mitch!
It was very fun to watch for once 😉
@mitchellhooperstrongman Fair enough you compete alotttt 😅 Good luck in the upcoming competitions amigo!
Bradley Cooper showing up. Good lad.
"These are people who dont go to the gym often"
Guy - "Used to compete, probably retiring this year"
I wanted to see Mitchell do it too 😂 also the little kid has the spirit he just needs to practice form at a lower weight and he’d smash it
who would have ever expected that mr wolverine-ripped-tanktop-muscle-man would do well at this :D
The Andrew packer crossover is not something i expected. MAN NEWS LETS GOOO
I would love to see our very own 2023 worlds strongest man to do this
As someone who's trained a lot of kids, I had a pretty solid feeling how well that kid was gonna do. 😂
I really wanna try this now. I'm only 135, so I might be able to do quite a few. I haven't deadlifted in a couple years, though. 😬
Just got to 35 reps at 103kg body weight. With someone like mitch cheering me on i think another 5-10 could have been possible. Worst part for me was the lack of oxygen at some poin. But awesome challenge and respect to all competitors!
A couple of these people are Gym Rats, and not casuals.
the 150 lady was just about a gym rat, the old guy too. And less so the firefighter, he goes to the gym of course but obviously firefighters are strong cuz of their work also
That was a fun video to watch. Congrats to all the people who agreed to do it and push themselves. Im gonna try this soon and see what I can get.
Let me know what you get!
@@mitchellhooperstrongmanI did it today. 240lbs for 17 reps. I may have been able to get a few more but I felt like my form was failing so I stopped. More than I thought I could do! Thanks for the motivation!
Alright, time for me to try this out in my next workout.
Let me know your result!👀
Depending on which expert you ask, the deadlift is either a back or leg exercise. Not surprising that Micheal (big back) and Marshall (big legs) did well. I am guessing that this study proved that it is more of a leg exercise?
Whoa I am unfit, gave it go 10 reps at 110kg/240lb. Had the strength but just ran out of steam. Still living with an injury but can hopefully get back to my 15rep 160kg sets. Fun video!
I got inspired to try this for today's leg day after watching this. I got to 28 reps a bit over my BW at 195 lbs before gassing out.
That was fun to watch
Clocking those calves, lmfao some of the strongest legs ive seen come from guys whos calves are tiny but their upper legs are just unreal
Man that was a awesome contest they are super impressive
Super interesting challenge. Just tried it at 165 bodyweight. I got 42 reps. I didn't have wraps and my grip gave out at that point. Gonna come back next week and try it with wraps. I am very confident I can break 50.
This video was just super cool!
Love it! Thats a tough podium to make there. Great job
#LHBK
Thank you!! 🏆
Epic video! I bet I could do 15 reps of body weight, would love to find out, maybe I'll give it a shot my next deadlift day.
Do it!
I really hope i forget about this by gym day, i absolutely hate rep work, lol
At 205, i wont have any weight advantage, but being half my 1rm i honestly think it will become a cardio challenge more than anything
Really enjoyed that Mitch cracking
I'm starting to wonder if there is anyone who doesn't rely on straps or Versa Grips anymore. 😂
I mean, chalk is cool because it keeps your hands dry. But other than that, strapless/no VG's truly shows what you can pull.
Love a dead lift competition
It's a nice change when it's not me.. 😂
Cool vid, but Mitch has no clue about how weak kids are 😂
Ooooor maybe it’s just a bit of banter 😉
I'm calling it now, Chase is gonna win by a mile
This was super fun!
31 reps of 80kg/176lbs@78kg/172lbs body weight at the end of my legs day (which included a PB 5x5 of squats)
No clips on high rep deads is devious
Was funny seeing the man news guy in a video with Mitch
Now I wanna see what you can get!
have you ever trained with someone who didn't know their own limits?
either over-exertion or injury? not intentional but a disconnect with themselves or an unhealthy pain tolerance/resistance?
I'd be interested to see how I would do in this, though it would definitely be a test of will. The best I've done is 2x body weight for 12, no clue how that translates.
Wow! I’m really impressed by myself now.
Suit is giving me weird vibes, but this is a cool competition
More Andrew in upcoming videos please 😆
I’m shocked none of these are regularly deadlifting in their gyms.
For reps, not max weight... kinda silly. especially if you let people compete while knowing what number of reps to beat to become first. Going last is a HUUUUGE advantage.
Really liked this video
1:15 what in the ever loving anterior deltoid f***
Im gonna try this!
My money's on the firefighter and the massage therapist.
Defs have to try now! I’ve trained a bit but my 1RM is only 25% more than my body weight. But it’s worth a try for DL days
Did you end up giving it a try?
Yo, I have no idea how many I could do. I weigh about 210 and my max pull is in the low 600s. 620-630-ish. I rarely pull sets of more than 6 reps.
Fun video, well done
Figured the Fire Fighter would win cause bro has massive quads
15:17
Mich fogot he is not a regular human being
dammit, I have deadlift tomorrow, now I gotta try this... I do 2 reps of 130kg, at 65kg bodyweight, so no idea how many reps I can do of 65kg
42 at 235lb
Was expecting maybe 30 or a little more, so suprised
I'm 300 lb and pushed myself but ultimately hit 23 before needing to stop.
Man news guy was cracking me up.
Gotta try that tomorrow! Its ham/glute day, so good way to start 💪
Your result? 👀
@@mitchellhooperstrongman I’m didn’t get it down, had a terribly rough day of defensive tactics training in a non air conditioned room. Don’t want to hurt myself doing this before my normal workout. Planning for tomorrow morning. Will update.
@@mitchellhooperstrongman 165 for 30, maybe couldn’t have done a couple more, I was gassed and had a full workout ahead of me. I’m happy with what I did.
I've got all my money on Chase!!
I think I’d run out of breath doing reps like that
You could do it!
I could probably manage a set of 10-12 (250 pounds). I've been deadlifting about 2 months now and did 4x7 at 225 a few days ago. My legs are really strong so it's mostly a question of when my back will get tired or when I'd gas out.
That's impressive for just starting!
fun , thanx
Deadlift yesterday. Im more in the 6 or so at my body weight. Im trying to regain low back strength. Its going slow, but ill get there.
You'll get there for sure. Check out my deadlift peak program if you need a bit of guidance: moosecoaching.com/pages/deadlift-peak
Was hoping to see Mitchell do it as well :(
Maybe next time
I didn’t expect the women to be that heavy, the 152 and 177 are literally as same weight and heavier than me a guy lmao
Well muscles are heavy
