I love 2008. Two of my clear favorites on WTA were playing to win. First, Ana Ivanovic won French. Then, Venus claimed her fifth Wimbledon, ending the year with a YEC win.
The quality of the these points were unreal! Venus was so steady and consistent, she moved extremely well but her strokes also looked so solid and she played so confidently. Miss this Vee
Venus was really peaking in 2008 in that Wimbledon final against Serena and also shoud have won the USO, but she choked against her younger sister. Also, only 4 nations in Top 10 in the end of 2008. Serbian sisters, Williams sisters, Russian army and Radwanska. :D Crazy how times changed and you have almost each country in current Top 10.
Well Venus usually lose to Jankovic around that time. She did lost to Jankovic just after the US Open. So not sure if she would of won the US Open in 2008 even if she was to beat Serena in the QF which to be honest Venus should of won that match. What surprised me is after the way she played during the WTA finals to lose in early at the 2009 Australian Open.

Vera made a big mistake by dropping and crying on the floor. Players like Venus love seeing you getting frustrated and they will make you to be frustrated even more. It will pump them out. Sure enough it did pump Venus up, she was running faster after that. Lol.
Zvonareva is such a drama queen.. People always thought of Jankovic, Wozniacki Azarenka and Serena as drama queens but Zvonareva, especially in this match is so hilarious to watch especially in the third set.. I also remember Jankovic in 2006 US open against Justine Henin, she was destroying herself in that match. And also her final match at the Beijing Open against Agnes Szavay, where she told spectators "Can you sit down?" at one point. Hahaha

Not nearly as powerful as in 2001 but 2008 was a good year for Venus, the last good one.
1. The courts are much slower. 2. I think this is where that illness started to take a toll on her
2017 was a decent/good year, but could of been exceptional with those 2 WINS
